Playlist ipod synch

Since iTunes changed, I cannot synch my playlist to iPod shuffle.  I only listen to podcasts. No matter what I do, I can only play old podcasts that i thought I deleted.  The new podcasts just do not show up in my iPod, even though they appear in the contents.

Chris, your thoughts are greatly appreciated. I have no where near that many playlists.
My problem persists however.
How do I get all of my playlists to show up to be available for transfer to my iPod...(ie those T-Z playlists)?
The playlists are in iTunes, and the music of those playlists are easily playable on my computer, just not available for transfer.
Why?

  • Ipod synching incomplete

When my ipod synchs with PC it finishes, but is not complete - only gets as far as M!

Yes, same problem, and it started recently, around the time of the v.10 iTunes update.
I have several podcast subscriptions in iTunes, with the unplayed episodes synced to my Touch as part of a playlist. Invariably, after an update and sync, one of the tracks is missing. I also have a collection of old radio programs, and will typically add six or seven to iTunes to sync them to my Touch, then replace them after I listen to them. Again, they go to a playlist, and again, one is always missing after the sync. In both cases, all show up in iTunes. Lately, I've noticed that it seems to be always the first one on the list that is excluded.
Undoubtedly a bug in iTunes. Until they fix it, here are the workarounds I've found. First, always sync twice in a row. That is, as soon as a sync finishes, hit the sync button again. It usually picks up the missing track on the second try. If I don't do a double-sync, the missing track never gets transferred, even if I sync again later. In that case, I then locate that track in iTunes, mark it as "played", then mark it "unplayed" and sync. That has always worked.

My iPod Touch Gen 5 will no longer synch with iTunes on my computer.  Only change since this happened is update to iPod to OS 8.1.1  iPod synch remains stuck in "Step 8 of 8"

On your computer go to the control panel (hover in the lower right corner) then programs, add/remove programs
Uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Service, Apple Application Support then go to apple.com and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.
You won't lose any content, you're not deleting that, just the programs that access them.
What is thought to happen is that sometimes a new version of itunes doesn't update the drivers in those other two programs. The only way to update the drivers is to force it by uninstalling the programs which allows itunes to write the correct ones.
My iPad and iPod did exactly the same thing and this is how I fixed it.

Will my new Ipod synch with a shared library on home sharing?

You would need to drag the shared library into that computers library so that you now have it to sync over to the idevice.

  • Itunes 7.1 ipod playlists - problems synching or manually adding

I was hoping 7.1 would solve these two issues, but it hasn't. Does anyone have advice for either of these problems:
    1. when the ipod is plugged into the computer, Itunes caps the number of playlists that show up in the 'synch only checked items' playlist. This is infuriating, as I have 2000 playlists.
    2. Okay, so you decide to go with manually adding playlists to the ipod icon in the itunes window. Before verision 7, you could actually open that ipod window and drag playlists from your main window into the ipod window. Now, you can only add playlists manually by dragging the playlists up toward the Ipod icon. If you have 2000 playlists like me, it literally takes 30 seconds to drag up to that icon, past all the other playlists. If you decide to try and drag into an opened Ipod window, the music shows up in your ipod, but NOT THE PLAYLIST.
Because of these problems, I don't have any bands on my ipod from the letter P onward. Does anyone have advice about this? Am I doing something wrong?

i have the same problem guys. i make playlists for everything, not a big fan of the other view options available. i have been getting frustrated lately with the lack of playlist drag and drop and having to scroll up through a couple hundred playlist to get to the **** ipod icon. i have actually created folders for parts of the alphabet so i can simply close them in order to get to the ipod icon a lot faster. stupid work around, but alas it does work. i think apple doesn't want people to use playlists like we do.

  • Can my iPod synch my OTG playlists and give priority to the iPod?

I have playlists that I need to change from week to week and that I need to change on the fly. I create and name on-the-go playlists, but later when I sync my iPod to iTunes, the playlist is no longer what it was. Let me explain myself more clearly.
    1. I update an already existing OTG playlist
    2. At some point I need to sync to iTunes (much as I dread it).
    3. Since my OTG playlist has been around for a while, iTunes wipes out my newer playlist and reverts it to the old stuff that it already had.
I know for a fact that iTunes used to "upsync" my playlists, updating iTunes, but since the latest software update, it's all screwed up.
Is there any way to get it working right? Or do I always need to create a new playlist before I sync to iTunes so it doesn't wipe me out.
    Thanks in advance.

Police don't "track down" lost items, per se. They'll keep your information on file in the event that someone finds your iPod and turns it in. Otherwise, there's nothing the police can or will do in regards to finding lost property.
Sorry, but your iPod is most likely gone for good.
    Regards.

  • Ipod synch with PC and laptop?

I have been using itunes on my laptop and synch my ipod with it. I now added a new PC running Vista.
Can I synch my ipod 2gen Nano with botyh by laptop and my PC?

You will have to set the ipod to manually manage all songs and playlists. This will allow you to connect your ipod to more than one computer.

  • Problem after downgrading back to ITv.6....missing music during iPod synch?

I recently happily downgraded back to iTunes v.6 after experiencing a nightmare with iTunes v.7. Since re-installing v.6, everything is fine except for one strange and annoying problem. I'm hoping someone can help, so here goes....
Now, when I synch/update my iPod as I had always done (not automatically, but with selective playlists checked), about 400 of 1700 songs do not transfer from my G4 to the iPod. However, when I switch to update with the automatic option to include all playlists, all 1700 songs transfer over to the iPod. I believe I've narrowed this problem down to one particular playlist which may not be getting recognized by the iTunes library. In other words, I want this one playlist to appear in iTunes, but not on my iPod. But, if I try to update with this one playlist unchecked, 400 songs do not transfer over. This seems odd since all music files (mp3s) from all playlists are located in the iTunes music folder on my hard drive.
So, my question is....how can I go back to updating my iPod to include all of the 1700 songs in my library, but without the one particular playlist (which is quite large)? As was the case before the iTunes v.7 debacle, is there a simple way to get my library to recognize the particular playlist so I can update my iPod selectively without putting that playlist on my iPod? I've tried to do some online research before bothering the wise people on this Board and it would seem that I either need to: 1) somehow import that particular playlist back into my iTunes library or 2) create a new iPod library file which I understand may cause me to lose my playlists and comments. I'm afraid to do either without some guidance, for fear of making the situation worse. I'm not very technical and I'm guessing there's a simple fix for this, so I'd sincerely appreciate any help and advice. Thanks very much.

  • Ipod synching?

I have an i pod classic, 6+ yrs old, with the recent apple upgrade to i tunes I can no longer get my podcasts to sync to my ipod, the playlists do not show on the  ipod and neither do the podcasts ... I've created new playlists, and they do not synch, I've tried addidg the podcast to old playlists they do synch, but the podcasts do not load to the playlist, the podcast do load load to the ipod. If the did, I would create an on the go playlist.  How do I get the podcasts to load onto the iPod????

Apart from additions of new music, has your library changed in any way since you last connected your iPod to it? Syncing new music won't delete anything from the iPod as long as you haven't removed the songs from iTunes since you last connected. If you don't want to sync automatically you can change your iPod to manual updating and drag the music you want from your library. In manual mode the content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different, you can get details here:
    Managing content manually on iPod

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • IPod synch - not updating iCal events

Several people have posted that their calendars are not synching to their iPods/iPhones/&c. at all. When I synch my iPod(s) (80GB video), the iCal calendars show up, but using an older database. That's to say that I change and add and delete events on my iCal database, but the iPod does not reflect the changes until weeks later. I have tried backing up iCal, re-synching .mac, resetting synch data, and changing the calendar settings in iTunes from All to Selected Calendars (and then selecting every calendar). I have even reset the iPod and updated the iPod software through several versions, but I still have the same problem. Sometimes after I synch with iTunes, I actually have no calendars on my iPod at all, although resynching seems to take care of that.
I have had this problem for a while (so it's not Leopard's fault) and on more than one iPod (so it's not a problem with a particular iPod). One thing that I have noticed is that the deletion of one instance of a repeating event is never reflected in the iPod calendar. That is not, however, the only problem with the synch, as new, one-off events do not show up, either. Because I need to have this calendar up-to-date whenever I leave the house in order to make appointments during the day, this is an untenable situation. I'm certainly not spending money on an iPhone (or recommending any of these products to anyone) until Apple comes up with a solution for this.

I have the same problems, or sometimes it transfers some of my calendars but not others, although "synch all calendars" is checked. Does anyone know a fix for this?

  • Why does my IPOD synch with my laptop and not my desktop?

I have tried since Christmas Day to get my Daughter's IPOD to synch with my desktop, with no success. I took it to the local Apple Store and they said they restored it and it should work fine. When I tried to connected it again, it still did not work. I put in a new USB 2.0 PCI card, and still had no success. I decided at that point to try and synch it with my laptop which worked. It only has 1.1 USB ports; Both machines are running XP SP2; I can see no other reasons why it shouldn't synch with the desktop. Can any suggest a hint or a fix. My Daughter is starting to lose her patience, that I can't have!!!!!!

  • How to create subdirectories in playlist, ipod classic

I am not familiar how to create subdirectories in Playlists in iPod Classic. Of course I have to user iTues software but I don't know how to create. Please guide me if anybody knows how to create subdirectories.
I want like this (like windows how subdirectories are look)
    Classical
    Dindufa
    Zazimba
    Thank you,
    grb

To expand on that further, putting playlists within folders and/or folders within folders creates multiple levels of playlist organization. However, this only works in auto-sync mode, so if you manually manage your Classic the folder structure will not transfer over.
