Playlist labeled "Internet Songs" with unknown item "ref="

I recently upgraded to Yosemite and while trying to organize my music in iTunes 12.1.2.27 I noticed a playlist labeled "Internet Songs" and upon inspection it only had one item in the list named "ref=". It also had a symbol next to the name which you can see in the screen shot below.
Additionally, the item does not play when clicked on.
Can anyone tell me what this is? Should I delete it?

My problem is WORSE. After upgrading to 11.1, NO internet radio appears at all. My box IS (was) checked in preferences all along. What a bummer, man.

  • Why can't I print a playlist of 24 songs with this newer version that will fit on a case, as I was able to do with the older version?

With the older version I was able to print a playlist of 24 songs that would fit on a case.  The print was single-spaced on the older version, but on this version, the print is double spaced and it no longer fits on a case.  Does anyone have an answer?

No other solution at this time. Are you using iPad or iPhone?
iPad - I can understand why you ask. It's too bad you can't sync PDF playlist. Right now the only way is to use Sugarsync. From there you can "Open PDF in iBooks". Or you can use Goodreader.
iPhone - Why would you want to use iTunes and iBooks? Although iBooks is well designed and handles PDF very well even on iPhone, it doesn't have text-reflow feature which makes PDF reading useless on iPhone unless you want to loose your eye sight soon. So the only way is to sync a folder using Sugarsync.  You can access Sugarsync from Goodreader.

  • Raise the PR through project with unknown item category "U"

    HI,
In my business process, i have raised the PR's through the projects. at the time of material assignment we need to give the item category N or L  .But at the time of material assignment to the activity, whether third party sale or local sale is not decide .it's only  decide at the time of PO creation .is there any options or configuration process to assign the unknown item category at the material assignment the PROJECT?
    Regards
    Bhavani

Item category available is either N or L. I don't think there is any U available.
If you are referring account assignment in PR. for project it should Q, P or N. U is not for project.
What is the purpose of assigning / planning materials in your project during the initial stage?, is it for cost planning? if it is only for cost planning then follow what Virendra has recommended.

  • Duplicate song with unknown symbol

I have one album in the Music app on my iPhone in where every song is duplicated.  One of each set of duplicated songs has a round symbol to the right of the title - I can't find the symbol anywhere through the Apple support site or even a Google search.  I cannot delete the songs with the symbol from my iPhone, but I am able to delete their duplicates if I want (although I haven't done so).  The songs do not show up as duplicates in iTunes on my Mac.  The symbol is grey - a little circle with a dot in the center.  Can anyone tell me what the symbol is and how I get rid of the duplicate songs?  Thank you!

Certainly with the v firmware a duplicate is defined as having the same title, artist and album tag. If any of these differ then it isn't a duplicate... so I'm surprised you're not finding this with the MTP firmware.
It might perhaps be with the MTP firmware it can't tolerate the same filename so this is worth double checking (whereas on the v2 firmware it doesn't care).
Also triple check the tags on these supposed duplicate files using some good tagging software, that will show both the v and v2 tag.
    Are these MP3 files?

  • Renaming songs with "unknown" titles

I've tried to change the file names in windows of unknown titles, but when I open the new file in iTunes it changes back to "track 01, 02, 03, etc. What gives?

    Thanks for your response.
You see here's the problem. The names can't be changed in iTunes, so I opened the folder containing the songs in windows explorer, changed the names, and tried to import the newly renamed files into iTunes. After doing so I diacovered that the names had been changed back even when viewed in windows explorer.
Also when iTunes imports these type CDs it copys each individual song, not as an album as it does with CDs whose info can be obtained through the internet.
I'll check preferences and see if I can remedy the problem there.
    Thanks again!

  • How can I add "Internet Songs" to my library?

Previously, if I opened a streaming radio in iTunes, it would automatically be added to my library.  Now, it gets imported to a default playlist called "Internet songs" which means I need to go to playlists, select "Internet Songs," and then the radio station I want to play.  This is 3 extra steps!  Also, it means they're not searchable.  How do I fix this problem?  I've been using iTunes for years and never had this problem!

Thanks for the quick response!!  Forgive me for being slow, but I just tried that, and it isn't working for me.  I click "add to...", and a sidebar shows up on the right side of the window with all of the songs in the playlist (with album art).  But iTunes won't let me click on the stream and drag it leftward to the library.  There's no plus sign on a green circle or anything; it just ignores me.  Argh, this is so frustrating!  If you have any other thoughts, I would love to hear them, but if not, it's OK.  I appreciate your time and help.

  • Trying to create a new playlist but several songs are marked with exclamation mark and will not transfer into playlist - any advice?

I have never had trouble creating playlists before but quite a few songs will not transfer and ate marked at the side with an exclamation mark.  I know ZERO about technology so if you can help me in very simple language, I would be very grateful!  I am wondering if it may have something to do with the fact that I have had to start new accounts when I have moved countries, on order to be able to use the credit card of the new country in the Itunes store of that country... I am in Aus and have bought a lot of tunes here but last year I was living in Brunei and, in order to use my brunei credit card ( as it was the only one with money in it) , I had to set it up as different to my Aus account.  Could this be the issue?  prior to Aus my account was in Ireland.  I have paid for all these songs but it seems I cannot now use some of them... Please help!!!  Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer, Lisa

The exclamation mark next to a song means it is no longer where iTunes is looking for it. iTunes won't let you add such "missing" songs to a playlist. Possible reasons for a song going missing are that you or some third party software has moved or deleted it, or a folder that contained it, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter, or a configuration file has changed making iTunes look in a slightly different place from before.
Select one of the songs with an exclamation mark, press CTRL+I to Get Info, say no when prompted to locate it, then note down the location from the Summary tab that begins file://localhost/ - please post back this path as given. Hopefully you can find the file this entry in your library is supposed to be connected to. Assuming you can please post back this path as well. These two items of information may suggest a fix through folder manipulation or a configuration change.
If things have got a little more disorganized then, as long as the tracks still exist to be found, my FindTracks script should be able to reconnect them to iTunes. FindTracks uses some fuzzy matching routines and searches for multiple potential locations. For more details see this thread. Start by selecting the tracks of a single album and then run the script. Your media folder should normally be detected automatically, e.g. as C:\Users\<User>\iTunes\iTunes Media, but you can edit the path if it is wrong or a particular batch of lost files are stored at another path. If it works as expected you can then move on to fixing the rest of the library in bigger batches.

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

    try this...
This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes.

  • Playlists containing songs with titles starting with non-alphabetical characters do not get transferred at all

I was really happy about how the desktop manager lets me choose the songs from my itunes library by playlists! this is smart! I'm also happy to see the playbook render asian characters properly (unlike my experience on the bold!)
However, I have a lot of songs which have titles that begin with non-alphabetical characters, ie asian characters. For all playlists which contains such songs, those songs do not get transferred onto the playbook AT ALL. For example, I have one playlist which contains only songs with titles beginning with asian characters - this playlist was transferred but it is shown as containing zero songs! When I browse my song library by artist/album, I can find all those songs that should be in that/those playlists.
    Can this be fixed?
    thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

as it turns out, it kind of got fixed by itself. what i did (i think, since i have not definitively verified) was i went to browse "all songs" wherein i noticed all thoses songs starting with asian characters seemed to show correctly. then i went back to the playlists in question, and viola!
clearly there is a bug or two in the music player somewhere regarding these title characters. but rim has more urgent things to resolve i guess - like my auto screen lock is still not working!

  • Label song with mulitiple albums

Below is a suggestion I have to improve iTunes. If you agree, please go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html and fill out the form with information about the suggestion to let Apple know that you want to see this feature in the next version of iTunes. If you want to improve upon this suggestion, please post you improvement on this thread so that others may have the benefit of your suggestion and may also suggest it to Apple.
What I believe would be extremely useful in iTunes is the ability to label a song as being on more than one album. The point of this would be that some identical songs are on different albums. Let's take for instance an artist who has several albums (like the Beatles) and several compilaltion, number ones, or greatest hits albums. Usually there is nothing special about the songs on the compilation albums, they are just duplicates of the ones on the original albums. If a person owns all of them and has stored them on their computer, then, in order to keep albums together, he or she has to have duplicate songs stored. In other words, if I wanted to listen to one album at some time and then a compilation cd with songs from the orginal album at some other time, I have to have two copies of the same song with different album labels just so I can listen to the complete albums. This can take up a lot of disk space (which is a very important consideration on an iPod, even the new 80gb models). In order to save disk space I can delete all my duplicates, but then I will have albums that are not complete when I listen to them because they have songs that are also on another album.
So please make it possible to label one song as being on more than one album. So when I browse by album, it will show up under each album. When I browse by artist or randomly, it can show that it is on multiple albums. This would be incredibly useful.

    Thank you very much

Plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane.  This brings you to the Summary tab.  Locate and click on the Music tab.  What configurations do you have made from under this tab?  Is your iPod configured to sync those playlists?

  • Recovering songs with deleted playlists?

    Hey All,
Like many of you I have a huge collection of 'paid-for' songs on my iPod.
I recently bought a new mac and did a OS re-install on my old mac (erasing all of my old files, music included). I wasn't worried about my music because I knew it was all still on my iPod. But when I connected my iPod to my new computer it asked to sync the playlists and I unknowingly (now regretting) clicked yes, now when I look at my iPod all I see is the podcasts and none of my music.
I have reason to believe that the music is still on my iPod and that just the playlists are gone, but nonetheless I can still not browse, see, or play any of my music on the iPod. I don't care so much about the playlists but loosing my music would be brutal.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can recover my music? I would be extremely greatful!
    Thanks in advance!

This what you should've seen when you first connected your iPod to your new iTunes library.
”The iPod “xxxxx’s iPod” is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all your existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library.”
If you clicked "yes" to that message, iTunes replaced all the songs on your iPod with whatever was in the new iTunes.
There is some info in the following post about recovering lost files from the iPod using data recovery software, but other than that, they are gone.
