Playlist Missing

With all software up to date on Macbook Pro, iPad Air and I phone, synched and backed up...when I go to MUSIC on iPhone or iPad Air I have no PLAYLISTS.  The same applies to both IPAD AIR and IPHONE, for my question I will use IPAD AIR.
I can only access the playlist if I go to MORE, the SHARED which reveals my IPAD AIR and LIBRARY.  If I engage LIBRARY it downloads and I have playlists, but I am forced to downloading every time I go back to playing my MUSIC because MUSIC defaults to IPAD AIR.
I have turned off ITUNES MATCH because I travel and don't have access to WIFI 24/7 -- I want my music and playlists STATIC on my devices.
If I turn of WIFI for example I don't have access to my MUSIC LIBRARY, tested to see if the Library is reading off my Macbook Pro iTunes library and I assume it is.
Bottom line how can I get my playlist and music on my devices I don't want them in the iCloud and I want my playlists too!
I couldn't find any explanation out there on this and a lot of unanswered questions how this all works or doesn't.
Thanks

What did you copy over from the old computer? Did you just copy the iTunes Media or Music folders or did you copy over the entire iTunes library folder?  Are they playlists still available on your old PC?

  • Playlists missing on new iMac 24"

Playlists missing on new iMac 24". I have a backup of everything on my MacBook Pro - it has the correct playlists and all the files in it. What do I have to copy to get them on the new computer? Too many important playlists to redo if I don't have to.
    Thanks!

See my user tips Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy and Make a split library portable. The first shows how I would normally recommend preparing to move your library from one computer to another. Back it up to an external drive, then restore to the new computer. The other goes into some detail regarding the structure of the library. Essentially if you've copied over the media already you simply need to copy the main iTunes Library.itl file and a some supporting files and the artwork cache.
I don't use iTunes Match so I am not familiar with it. I thought it included playlists, but perhaps that feature doesn't work properly when the library is bigger than the 25,000 tracks allowed. Either way backup and restore via an external drive is still the best way to move a library from one machine to another.

  • Some playlists missing on phone

I have Cellular data turned on, I have tried turning Mtach off and on, I have tried signing in and out of my account. There are several playlists missing on my phone. I can't see any songs or reasons that would keep them from syncing. Any ideas?

  • Playlists missing but still in context menu

Macbook Pro 13" 2013 running Mavericks and latest versions of both Mavericks and iTunes.
This is a bit of a weird issue. At some point in the last few weeks iTunes decided to update itself from 7.0 despite the fact that I said NO every time the opportunity popped up. Then lo and behold, I open it one day and it's a newer version - fricking gremlins.
Anyway, after this update my library and playlists had disappeared. I figured I would just open a previous library, but for some reason the newest previous library was several months old and didn't have some playlists.
While it's not a major issue to remake those missing playlists, what's irritating me is that they're in the context menu when I right click. I can even add music to them. But I can't see the playlist. And when I add a song to one of these missing playlists, the "Show in Playlist" menu item doesn't list these missing playlists. The major problem is an overlap in names - an old playlist and a new replacement playlist with the same name and I'm accidentally adding to the old, not new.
Anyone have ANY idea what the heck is going on here?
As an addition, I have the old playlists on my phone (iPhone 4) still. I haven't synced the phone since this problem came up because it wants to erase everything on my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You aren't the only one. I did NOT upgrade to the latest Itunes version recently but upon entering Itunes today my playlists were all gone (and I spend a lot of time organizing playlists). Found a previous .itl (Itunes library file) and was able to save a lot of playlists but the .itl file was 6 months old so all updates made to playlists since then are gone. I may have lost more and am still determining loss but I really hate it when work is lost - I've been an Itunes user since it first came out and this is a regular experience.
Suggested update for Apple would be to create more historical .itl files (could be daily with user choices as to how many and naming conventions). .itl files can be big so there would have to be file reuse or some means to not overwhelm the user's computer with unused files.

  • Itunes 7.3.1 music and playlists missing

Updated to 7.3.1 and now the music and playlists are missing within itunes, although the music is all still present in the itunes folder.
I have no 3rd party plugins.
This is happening both on the iMac and MacBook (running OS 10.4.10)
Can I drag the itunes folder into the music library, or will that duplicate everything?

  • Imported Playlist Missing Information

    Hi,
So in follow up to my exporting question earlier, I am importing a playlist into Itunes. When I import my playlist - there is missing information. For example it'll be missing the information in the comments field or information in the genre field.
Would anyone happen to know why this would be happening? I looked at the imported .txt file in excel and I can see that all the information is there. Why would itunes be ignoring just a select few feilds?
    Thanks,

It will take mee many many ours to start up again, and time is money, so pleace help.
    What too doo
    Kind regards Allan

Your data is already lost. You must restore your phone in order to be able to use it. This is why Apple offers you two ways to back up, including iCloud, which backs up automatically over wireless every night if you're plugged in to power and the screen is locked. How much easier could it be? Yet you say you haven't backed up in months. If your phone was lost or stolen, or you dropped it in a puddle, you would be in the same boat. • Podcast playlist missing in Podcast App

Just posted the following under iTunes Feedback. If you agree, please post also.
    Thanks,
Okay, you removed Podcasts from the Music App on the Iphone and moved them to the Podcast App. Where did the playlists go? I don't just listen to 1 Podcast. I built a playlist to listen to a mixture of Podcasts. This is step backwards. Please return this missing functionality.

I had this problem when they first came out with the Podcast App so I stopped using it and went back to playlists in regular itunes app. When IOS 7 and 11.1 rolled around I tried the podcast app again because it was supposed to support playlists. The first time I sync'd it up the playlist showed up in My Stations under iTunes Playlists and it worked well enough for a bit. Somewhere in the journey the iTunes Playlists entry stopped showing up in the app as did the playlists themselves. I've deleted the app, reset the phone, and installed the 11.1.1 update today and the playlists still will not show up in the App. I have not restored the phone from a backup because I'm sick of dealing with the fallout every time I do that.
About the only thing that has really changed is my desire to listen to podcasts as much as I was because it has become too much of a pain. If I wanted to work on my computer and software instead of use it I'd get a Windows machine.

  • Why are some of my playlists missing?

    Where are my missing playlists?

You tell us, did you do anything?
    Install iTunes 11?
Put songs into a Playlist Folder?
Is the Playlist a Smart Playlist?
Number two, putting songs into a Playlist Folder is guaranteed to cause songs to be "lost" from the list, eventually.
So - if you need more help than the possible causes listed here, you need to tell us a bit more about the issue. One assumes for instance (since you've posted in the iTunes for Windows forum), that this is ocurring in iTunes. What devices are you Syncing with your iTunes Library, and what are the Playlists like on them?

  • IOS 7 problems finding songs, playlist missing songs

I had a playlist that included several songs from a particular artist but since upgrading from iOS 6.1.3 I can only see one of the tracks remaining. The other songs appear to be removed and searching for missing songs/parent album/artist does not produce any results at all.
The songs are still on the iPhone and I can navigate to them, but only as follows:
Play the one surviving track from this artist/album still in my playlist.
Switch to 'now playing' to select other tracks on the album, including the missing playlist items that Music Search can't find.
It seems like an indexing problem. I'll try removing all the music and resyncing from iTunes and reply with the results. Maybe this will help someone else...
Running iOS 7.0.2 on iPhone 5 64GB. Problem has been present since iOS 7.0.0
    Music ~= 20-30GB on iPhone.

Third update (sync takes hours so I can only do this once a day...)
    iTunes 11.1.1 did not help.
I deleted all music on the device from Settings > Usage > Music > Edit > Delete (which, incidentally, took two attempts before it actually deleted it).
Then I performed a clean sync of my selected playlists again (about 5800 songs)
The sync completed but the iphone was still missing over 1500 songs.
I tried another sync immediately. The process stayed on 'waiting to apply changes' for about 15 minutes, then completed. A few more songs were sync'd but it was still missing 1400+ songs.
The playlist with missing songs was still missing some tracks, but different ones this time. To test if the playlist was the problem I deleted all music from the iPhone again and sync'd just two playlists, including the problematic one. It sync'd all tracks on both playlists, so it doens't appear to be the playlist that is breaking the sync.
I will try one last attempt by restoring the phone as a new device then syncing all my playlists before reapplying the backup data. If that still doesn't work then there is clearly a problem with the sync process that previously worked fine on earlier versions of iOS / iTunes.

  • ITunes Purchased Playlist missing tunes

    Hi,
The purchased playlist in Itunes is missing a few tunes. They are in my Library, just not in my purchased playlist. On the purchased menu on my Apple TV all of the items that I have purchsed are there. How can I get the purchased playlist in Itunes to be identical to this.
Thanking you in all in advance
    Greg Simms

You can just drag it in there. In fact, you can drag anything in there. It's just a regular playlist and end users can change it anyway they want.

  • Entire iTunes Playlist Missing

    Hi,
My entire iTunes playlist is missing. All that's inside my iTunes music folder is displayed here.
    What happened?

Reinstalling iTunes won't fix rhis type of problem. At a guess the Temp File.tmp contains a  (possibly) partial version of the library.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library as iTunes Library (Corrupt) and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
The image above is for Windows but should give the idea. Libraries created by older versions of iTunes on a Mac don't use the .itl file extension. Your screenshot doesn't show it, so don't add it to the file you copy & rename.
See MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.

  • "Purchased" playlist missing music

I accidentially deleted the purchased playlist.I purchased something and got the purchased playlist back except all the purchased music is missing from the playlist, is there a way to put all my purchased music back into the playlist?

Click on the *Date Added* column.
If 'Date Added' isn't showing, either right-click on the column headers bar and select it,
    or
itunes menu > View > View Options and check the Date Added box.
If the little triangle is pointing down by the words date added, the most recent additions will be at the top. If the triangle is pointing up, oldest additions will be at the top.

  • IPod playlist missing

I have a new computer.  Just this week purchased a few tunes and discovered the rest of my playlist is missing.  I've looked in all the iTunes files and none of it is there.  So, I have a few just purchased but not downloaded, and I have the original list on my iPod.  How do I sync the two?

    Ok, I found it!
When your iPod is plugged in, go to the TV Shows (or Movies) tab and notice at the top, it says, "<check box> Sync" and then there's a drop-down menu.
Does the drop-down menue say "all unwatched"?
If so, change it to just say "all".
If it says "unwatched", then it appears that any video watched to completion will erase on the next sync.

  • Playlists missing after copying library to new computer

I have just used my iPod to copy my iTunes library to my new computer following the instructions on the iTunes website, but contrary to what it promised, while it has copied the music, all the playlists are missing. Can anyone help me to avoid having to make all the playlists again?
