Playlist on shuffle & repeat just stops.

I have an iPod Touch, and lately whenever i play a playlist (which is always set on shuffle & repeat) it will play a couple of songs off the playlist and then just stop. When I push play (either from the remote on my earbuds or from punching the home-button twice) it will start playing my entire library on shuffle. This is happening more and more frequently and it's really starting to scare me. Restarting my iPod doesn't work. I've tried twice with no effect. I'm nervous to restore to a backup because my computer doesn't have all of my music on it and i'm worried about losing some albums. Is there another option I'm not seeing?

Same here.... just recently started. I play my music sometimes non-stop for hours at a time, connected to a Bose system. Sometimes it stops & goes back to the home screen, sometimes to the apple - which is frustrating, but do-able. But lately the lack of repeat, even though the repeat icon is properly lit, it doesn't repeat. I posted another query today, not having seen yours before. Maybe someone can help! I've recently done the whole reset thing - will probably try that again... good luck!

Are you referring to the shuffle's dock as the "charger"?
Depending on whether your close to an Apple STore, you could take both shuffle and dock there for analysis and replacement. Have you plugged shuffle+dock into a different computer?

How to stop playlists from shuffling

My playlists started shuffling themselves and I can't work out how to stop them - need help please!!

Start playing a song - any song.
Tap on the album artwork area to bring up the scrubber for the song playing.
To the left of the scrubber is the repeat icon/selection. To the right of the scrubber is the shuffle icon/selection.
If the color of the shuffle icon/selection is blue, shuffle is selected. Select the icon to change the color of the icon to white which means it is off.

I have iTunes 11 on a Windows 8.1 PC. It is streaming to a 3rd Gen Apple TV. Movies and TV Shows seem to play fine. Music will stream for about 10 - 16 songs, then just stop. I have to reset everything, then it will repeat the cycle. Wire or wireless.

I would suspect that there is something wrong with the network, or Apple TV, except that movies and TV Shows seem to be fine. My music library is about 3700 songs, all legit, either imported from source or puchased through iTunes. This one has me stumped and frustrated!

I thought that may have been the case too. I set the power settings to compensate but still the same. I also done things like reset the router and Apple TV to factory. Starting to think it may actually be the Apple TV, but it just doesn't make sense ?!?

Do you have the repeat feature turned on? It is the racetrack-like icon on the left side of the screen below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon to cycle through the variuos modes (off, repeat play list, repeat one song). Thus is covered in chapter 4 (Music) of the Users Guide.

Shuffle songs feature stopped working?!?

my shuffle songs feature stopped working on my ipod...the arrow (>) disappeared after syncing after i consolidated my music from my external and computer hard drives. i've tried re-syncing, re-setting the shuffle feature, and restoring tthe factory setting, but my ipod still does not allow me to use shuffle, since the (>)has been missing. how do i fix this? also my playlists are not playing continuously. i have to click of each song, or it will just repeat the same song over and over. how can i fix these problems, because itunes works fine on my laptop?

I don't see an answer to the original question. I have just downloaded the iPod software from the CD and I have tons of questions -- where do I turn? Someone loaded music on my iPod 2 years ago when I first got the thing, and now that I have a new computer with Windows XP, I'd like to add my own music to this device. Ok, so the likely cause is 1 or more Songs are tripping up iTunes Match. To resolve, move to Song view, switch on iCloud Status and iCloud Download fields - sort the view on iCloud Status - identify Songs with status other than Purchased, Matched or Uploaded. Temporarily remove them from the library, allow iTunes Match to complete the 3-step process. Gradually import the Songs back in - any that cause a repeat failure, place in a playlist, burn to audio CD and import as 256k AAC.
Note: iTunes Match service in UK at present is intermittant, may be worth trying from 1200 tomorrow to give Apple the chance to complete its current updates.

Shuffle repeats songs too often

I've found that when I shuffle my playlists, I have heard a single track play twice within 30 minutes...even though my playlists are many hours long! Has anyone else found this to be annoying? And have you found a way to improve the shuffling through Spotify?

Yeah, we've noticed this too. We have a community playlist setup at my work and it just plays the same 20 or so songs over and over, even though we have 800 in our playlist. Some songs have never played once, while others come up every half hour - all day. One thing I figured out with Shuffle is that when a song plays from a playlist it goes back into the hat (so to speak) and Spotify reaches its hand back in and pulls out another song. It can grab the same songs over and over, even if 'Repeat' is OFF. 'Repeat' means repeat the entire Playlist, not the songs. So with Repeat ON, your playlist should play every song ONCE, and then repeat the entire playlist again when it's cycled through all the songs. So having Repeat ON is actually a better choice if you want more variety and less repetition. It's counter-intuitive. However! You'll notice in the 'Play Queue' that there can only be so many songs in the queue, SO despite my theory when songs are exiting the queue at the bottom they are up for grabs again, and they will infact repeat, just not as often. So the bottom line is - Shuffle doesn't really work too great. And you should only have small playlists with just a few songs in each - which is annoying and not much fun. But Spotify is great otherwise.

Sync Shuffle on mac - stopping before being done all songs

Whenever I try syncing my new shuffle, with the setting to only sync marked titles, but to do so for all titles and playlists, it stops after a third of the songs and tells me it is done. It just doesn't sync all songs and I am really running out of ideas what else to try.
Has anyone else had that problem yet?

I've noticed this as well, syncing a 3-4 playlists and notice that the sync just stops after awhile. One potential reason why (I think) is that iTunes is counting the size of each playlist and saying "can this fit" without taking into account that the playlists might be containing the same songs.
For example I have three playlists: least played since last year, 50 songs just added, last two months - for a good portion of these playlists they contain the same tracks, however iTunes sort of goes "2gb + 2gb + 1gb = TOO MUCH", when theres actually only 3gb of tunes in total.

I am having problems getting my playlist to shuffle since I updated to itunes 11.1. When I go to shuffle, it only shows 5 or 6 songs when I have more than 200 in the playlist. Anyone have any ideas?

Are the songs that don't play set to Skip when shuffling?
To check one song, highlight it, select File (or right-click)/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling.
To set all the songs in the Playlist, in one go, so that they will play when shuffle is on, highlight the complete list and then choose File (or right-click)/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling - drop-down menu.
Important: if you use the multiple items method, the drop-down will always say no if just one song is set to "No". Therefore, you need to change this to "Yes" and then back to "No" for all songs to be set to No.

GotoAndPlay Just Stops

I am using gotoAndPlay in a function with ENTER_FRAME event.
I believe that it goes to the frame (used trace) but it just stops
and won't play. I have been working on this for a couple of hours
and the closest thing I could find to an answer was this post

for example in the '_parent.gotoAndPlay(45)' , the playhead
will keep going to that frame 45 and will never get further.
You'll need to workaround that (using variables + a loop in
the _parent for instance). "

"energyStart"? how can the playhead possibly advance past that
frame while your loop is executing?
so HINT: terminate that loop when inFrame is called which
begs the question, "why use an ENTER_FRAME loop, at all"?

Albums missing from playlist when shuffle-modes are turned on

I created a playlist and all 312 files that should be in that playlist display in iTunes and when I navigate into the playlist in my ipod. However, when I start playing that playlist and my ipod is set to "shuffle by songs" or "shuffle by artist", my ipod will start playing file "1 of 77". All 77 of these files are on two albums. When shuffle is turned off, it will play all 312 songs. Why does my ipod ignore all the other albums that should be part of the playlist when shuffle is turned on? The only criteria to be on the playlist is that the genre must match one of the rules. I do not see a difference in tagging between the 2 albums that play reguarless of shuffling and all the others. Just to be sure, I even tried adding tag data to the "sorting" fields.

Check under Get Info on the tracks that don't play. They are probably set to Skip When Shuffling.
(The Skip option is found under the Options tab in Get Info.)

My magic mouse just stopped working

My magic mouse just stopped working. I have rebooted the iMac and changed the batteries. Nothing is fixing it. What do I do next? When I turn the mouse on the green light on the bottom stays on for a few seconds and then flashes twice, pause and repeat.
On a side note. I just brought home a MBP about an hour before the issue. I turned bluetooth off on the MBP but could it be the problem? It was working fine with both machines on for about an hour.

OK somehow after a couple restarts it fixed itself. ANy idea on why it did that?

It just stopped working!!!

Yesterday at the gym, my shuffle just stopped - I had charged it earlier in the day to full charge. It still is not working and when I plug it into the dock, windows doesn't even recognize it as being there. The only thing I can think of is it got wet from me sweating - I do sweat a lot at the gym - is that what happened, what can i do to fix it????????

Restarting or restoring is a temporary solution. Have any of you found that the light doesn't work anymore as well? NO greens, no oranges, no reds, nothing? I'm still within my one-year warranty, but all I can find on the Support website is the Warranty info that says look for the information on how to obtain the warranty on the website. I couldn't find it, so I tried the livechat, but it wants me to buy support insurance or something, which would cost me over half what I paid for the shuffle to to find out how to get my money back/get it replaced. Any tips? Should I just mail it in and hope someone gets the hint?

Playing a "playlist" in shuffle mode

How do I play a Smart Playlist in shuffle mode? I can shuffle all my songs, but not just a certain playlist.

Go to SETTINGS > SHUFFLE and set it to SONGS. Then, go back & play your playlist - it will be shuffled.
