Playlist Only Shuffle

In the past I was able to shuffle just a playlist and nothing else, and now it is gone. My question is "Is it possible to shuffle a playlist but not the rest of my music." Or is this one of the many apps that has hit the "All Or Nothing Floor"

Hello,
With iTunes open, select the playlist you want to skip certain tracks. Now, select the track you wish to skip. Now, click Command + I. That will prompt the Get Info window. When that window opens, click Options, then click the button where it says: Skip when shuffling.
It would be nice to be able to select multiple tracks to skip all at once and use the Get Info/Options for this, but I've yet to find it. There might be an AppleScript hack available here:
http://dougscripts.com/itunes/ That would save some time at least... but at least you can do one at a time.
Also, as an aside, I see you are running 10.4.7. You might want to update your system software to 10.4.11. If so, from the Menu Bar, select the Apple logo, then click Software Update ... you can also access Software Updates from your System Preferences window.

  • X-mas playlist only shuffling 38 of 100 songs

My problem, whenever I play my playlist on my iPhone5, the songs from the albums play in order by the song and only shuffle 38 of the 100 songs. This only just started happening. In order to get all the songs to play I have to have each song from every album play in order by artist.
I tried deleting the playlist and creating it again several times to no avail. I created the current playlist this problem is occuring on iTunes using the selected songs I wanted on the playlist.
It's obvious that the iPhone's playing the playlist I created but when I try to select "shuffle" it only plays 38 of the 100.
It's very frustrating that I can't figure out how why this is happening. Can someone please let me know how to fix this?
    Thanks
    Steve

I have a theory that it's tied to Snow Leapord and/or iTunes, probably something Apple did to disable Palm Pre phones from being able to sync with iTunes. I've never seen that confirmed though, so it might nto be. All I know is I've been having this problem for a long time. I just tried iTunes 9.2.1 on my Mac hoping Apple had finally fixed it, but alas they didn't.
The solution I found? Get a PC and find an old version of iTunes. You give up some of the newer so-called features, and you've got to deal with a Windows box for your library, but at least the iPod will sync.

  • Nano not showing playlists, only shuffle

I just finished getting all the music into my daughter's iTunes and loaded it all onto the Nano. The music is there now, but there are no playlists showing. The music is only available in shuffle mode. What can I do to make my playlists show up now?

Ooops, never mind. I figured it out. The playlist, album and artists features were all turned off on the Nano. DUH! LOL!

  • Can only get my Ipod shuffle to play in alphabetical order rather than in the order of the downloaded playlist, is this possible or will it only shuffle or play alphabetically?

can only get my Ipod shuffle to play in alphabetical order rather than in the order of the downloaded playlist, is this possible or will it only shuffle or play alphabetically?

You need to select the playlist on the shuffle, when you play it.  If you do not select a particular playlist, it plays from the All Songs list.  When you set the switch to play in order (not shuffle), the All Songs list plays in alphabetical order.
To select a playlist, use the VoiceOver feature.  This document explains how to set up and use VoiceOver.

When you select a playlist on the shuffle, it should play in playlist order (when the switch is set to play in order).

  • Can the Nano shuffle within one playlist only?

I have 4 playlists set-up on my Nano. One for the Gym. One for easy listening. One for Jazz and one for Christmas. I would like to be able to choose one of those playlists and have the Nano shuffle within that playlist only.
When I'm in the gym I don't Christmas music or easy listen to pop up. Unfortunately, when I select shuffle it shuffles all the songs on my Nano.
Is there a way to shuffle within only the playlist I've selected? Thanks.

That does not work for me.
You need to select the playlist and press Play.
Do not select Shuffle songs from the main menu.

  • Ipod classic only shuffling some songs in playlist

i have 655 songs in a playlist but ipod only shuffles 165 of the songs. i've set ipod to shuffle under settings and then once the playlist is highlighted i hit play. only 165 songs are listed and only 165 will shuffle. if i turn off the shuffle feature ipod will play all 655 songs by album, but i'd like the ipod to skip around and not play the albums sequentially. any ideas?

Check the songs in your library. Under *File/Get Info/Options* is a tick-box called *Skip when shuffling.* Is there a tick in the box? If so, turn it off.
Check this for one song. If that is the problem, you can then highlight all the songs in the playlist and go to the *File/Get Info/Options* (iTunes will ask if you wish to edit multiple entries - yes, you do!). When editing multiple items, for some reason the *Skip when shuffling* tick-box will also have a drop-down menu box. Even if it says No, (which it did when I tested this) select Yes, _then change it back_ to No and click OK.
Sync your iPod and try the playlist again. When you play the first song in the playlist (on shuffle) does the display now say 1 of 655? It should.

  • Shuffle songs from playlist only

Is is possible to only shuffle from a playlist and not the complete ipod library ?
    Thanks

To turn on shuffle in settings, go to Settings-->Shuffle and set it to Songs.
Then, as Wesler said, go to the main menu, go to Music-->Playlists, scroll to the playlist you want to shuffle, and click Play.

  • How do I get my playlist to shuffle with the new version of itunes?

I am having problems getting my playlist to shuffle since I updated to itunes 11.1. When I go to shuffle, it only shows 5 or 6 songs when I have more than 200 in the playlist. Anyone have any ideas?

Are the songs that don't play set to Skip when shuffling?
To check one song, highlight it, select File (or right-click)/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling.
To set all the songs in the Playlist, in one go, so that they will play when shuffle is on, highlight the complete list and then choose File (or right-click)/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling - drop-down menu.
Important: if you use the multiple items method, the drop-down will always say no if just one song is set to "No". Therefore, you need to change this to "Yes" and then back to "No" for all songs to be set to No.

  • Albums missing from playlist when shuffle-modes are turned on

I created a playlist and all 312 files that should be in that playlist display in iTunes and when I navigate into the playlist in my ipod. However, when I start playing that playlist and my ipod is set to "shuffle by songs" or "shuffle by artist", my ipod will start playing file "1 of 77". All 77 of these files are on two albums. When shuffle is turned off, it will play all 312 songs. Why does my ipod ignore all the other albums that should be part of the playlist when shuffle is turned on? The only criteria to be on the playlist is that the genre must match one of the rules. I do not see a difference in tagging between the 2 albums that play reguarless of shuffling and all the others. Just to be sure, I even tried adding tag data to the "sorting" fields.

Check under Get Info on the tracks that don't play. They are probably set to Skip When Shuffling.
(The Skip option is found under the Options tab in Get Info.)

  • Wrong track information & artwork on iPhone with playlist on shuffle

I’ve just got a new iPhone 3GS and have noticed that when I play music in a playlist on shuffle, I occasionally get the wrong artwork and track information being displayed.
That is, “Track A” is playing… but the iPhone display shows the artwork and track information for a different track - “Track B”.
However if I select “Track A” directly by its Artist or Album, the correct artwork and track information is displayed… it only seems to happen when a track is played on shuffle.
I’ve deleted by iTunes database and reimported my iTunes library file and deleted and restored all music on the iPhone but the problem still occurs.
It is possible there could be some corruption in the iTunes library… but I’ve got 5+ years worth of track ratings and play counts that I want to keep. Anyone know how I can delete the library, add all the tracks back, but retain information like the ratings and playcounts? Or any other ideas?

I'm having exactly the same issue since launch of the 3GS.
Did you ever get to the bottom of it?
    Thanks
    Jim

I followed the instructions in the help menu on doing this but nothing seems to work, Help anybody ? Have installed the lastest version of itunes and I'm running windows XP.   Thanks

Is it possible that you are not seeing the thirteenth song because you did not scroll all the way down within the playlist?
    Hope this helps!

  • IPod Playlists are shuffled but aren't shuffling....

My playlists show as shuffled on iTunes. However, they don't shuffle on my iPod. I recently cut my iTunes over to my iMac from Windows XP. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am also having the same problem. If I hook my IPOD up to my car stereo, tell it to shuffle, then disconnect, all my playlists are shuffled. If I try this with ITunes, the playlists appear shuffled on the IPOD menu, but when I start playing one, the songs start to play in order. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

  • I have 2 apple tv's but my playlists only show on one; can I get them to show up on both? I have home sharing turned on and itunes match.

I have 2 apple tv's but my playlists only show up on one; can I get them to show up on both? I have home sharing turned on and itunes match.

If you are attempting to share to both at the same time, you can't.
Are you selecting the second AppleTV in home sharing options on the MBP. Are all devices signed in for Home Sharing with the same AppleID?

  • New or modified iTune playlists only play one song then stop.

My wife changed the settings on iTunes last night.  New, or modified playlists only play current songs then stop.  Existing playlists work normally.

Are the songs on the CD from different artists?
If so, then if you are going into MUSIC -> ARTIST -> Christmas CD and hitting PLAY, it will play the songs from THAT ARTIST on THAT CD, probably only one.
What you'd have to do is go on your iPod: MUSIC -> ALBUM -> Christmas CD. By doing this, you'll play every song from that album regardless of artist.
