Playlist Shuffle When Burning

When burning Playlists to disc, the songs are being shuffled, reordered by iTunes.  If there is a way around this problem please let me know.  I'm running 64-bit Vista.

But the file's size it should be revelant if I want to burn an audio cd (not an mp3 or acc)
No, not really.
When iTunes (or another burning application) burns an Audio CD, all source files are converted 'on the fly' to the native format of an Audio CD (16 bit PCM), which has a fixed size per minute.
Wether it's a highly compressed format (mp3 or AAC) or an uncompressed format (WAV or AIFF), the play time of the file is the only relevant parameter.
When you insert an Audio CD in your Mac, OS X usually "sees" the files as AIFF audio files. Windows usually "sees" the files as WAV.
This has to do with AIFF being the default uncompressed audio format of Mac OS and WAV being the default uncompressed audio format of Windows.
The 80 minutes max., ed2345 mentioned, is true for a 700 MB disc.

  • Order of playlist changes when burning to dvd, shuffle is off

I'm trying to burn a playlist to a data dvd in a certain order.  I put the playlist in the correct play order and then burn, but what comes out is not in the same order.  Shuffle is NOT on.  Any ideas how to get it to burn in the right order?

Are you burning within iTunes? Using Burn Playlist to Disc? That's the only I burn from my library, and my playlists always stay in the order I've placed them in.
If you're burning through Finder, it may be burning them in alpha order.

  • ITunes rearranges my playlists ALPHABETICALLY when burning to CD !

When I carefully put together a playlist from my library...I put the individual songs in a specific order. But when I click on 'burn disc' it automatically rearranges the songs into ALPHABETICAL order ! How to I get it to leave the songs on the playlist in MY selected order when I burn the playlist to a CD ?

what kind of CD are you burning, monkeypuppet? is it an audio CD or an mp3 CD?

  • Create smart playlist - "shuffle randomly" - burn DVD

The above is all what I want to do.
I can create a smart playlist no problem. I can burn a DVD with the playlist no problem. BUT
I can not get the playlist to randomly shuffled in the itunes window before I burn the disk?!! Shuffle is on "By Song" and turning it 'off' or 'on' makes no change to the order of the playlist in the itunes window.??????
I am using itunes 9.0.1.8. I had done it once before a while back, and the DVD has tracks in random order (ie:shuffled) but not now the playlist does not shuffle.
itunes DJ only gives 100 songs, I need 400 approx.
what am I doing wrong or what has changed recently????
    cheers for any help.
    CD

Click the very first column header with the numbers.
If you have any other column selected, it will sort on that column. If shuffled, the songs will play shuffled but still be displayed sorted on that column.

Make a new blank playlist and add what you want.
Or make a smart playlist and select 400 songs by random.

  • Tracks 5, 6, and 7 from Playlist skip When Burned to a CD

Does anyone know why tracks 5,6, and 7 skip when i burn a cd. Every other song works fine. I've tried the CD's on other players and it has the same issue. i think it's either my computer or iTunes but i think it's iTunes cause ive burned other music cds with other programs and they worked fine.... so let me know what you guys think.. Thanks.
      Windows XP Pro

Have you burned a variety of playlists and tracks 5, 6 & 7 always skip, or is it just one particular playlist with specific tracks 5, 6, & 7?
If it's just one list--listen to the tracks to make sure they're not corrupted. If they don't play correctly on your computer either, then they need to be re-ripped into iTunes to fix the problem. Check out the original music source too to make sure it's problem free.
Have you tried using a completely different brand of CD-R disks? Maybe the skipping brand has a flaw at the point on the disk where tracks 5, 6, & 7 are burnt?
You could try burning the disk at a slower speed to make sure that's not the problem.
If none of these are your problem, let me know and I'll try to think of other things you can check.

  • Why is my playlist shuffling when I don't want it to?

Apologies for posting to iPod touch, but posting here since this is an iPod software functionality issue despite my having an iPhone4. I have playlists, and I like the songs to play in order. For some reason, the songs shuffle anyways. The "Shake to Shuffle" function turned off. Additionally, the little shuffle icon at the top right of the screen isn't visible for me to select it "off". Sometimes its there, sometimes it's not. Any feedback is enormously appreciated!

Go to the now playing window. Then deselect the shuffle icon

  • Files converted automatically to Mp3 instead of mpeg when burned as audio files

Cannot maintain mpeg music playlist files when burning using audio file burn mode

They will be compressed to MP3 when published. It is always better to have an uncompressed file to start with, easier also to edit with audio software (Audition, Audacity) without quality loss. Be sure that it will be reduced largely when published. And please, don't shout.... why those big fonts?

  • What's the maximum size a playlist can be when burning?

I always need to leave a few meg under 700 when burning a playlist to 700meg cd and was wondering if anybody knew the maximum a playlist can be to burn? Not sure if the media has anything to do with it. Would just be nice to be able to plan ahead since I make a lot of comps and sometimes need to cut a song at the last moment.

I'm making mp3 cds. Technically I'm using CD-R Audio discs (80min/700mb) as I have a home-audio cd burner and these discs are compatible with both. The problem is that I have tried to burn playlists that are close to 700mb but wouldn't burn as iTunes said it was too large for the disc, so I need to leave ~3-5mb free for it to burn. I guess it uses that space for the index/xml or other data. I was just wondering if anybody knew exactly, or very close to the maximum you can burn.

  • When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

When burning a playlist to disc, how do you keep the songs in original order?

If you are burning an audio CD, they will burn in sequential order as in your playlist.
If you are burning an MP3 CD or a data CD, they will burn as individual files, and can be sorted any way you like when you view the CD.  For an MP3 CD, the files will be prepended with a sequence number, so if you sort by filename, they will be in the original order.

  • Recording level is too low when burning CD from playlist

When burning a CD from playlist, the resulting CD has a lower recording level than in the original recordings.  How can I adjust this?

It sounds like you are having a similar problem to the one I was having when I was downloading my cds to itunes. The whole album would download but some of the songs would be on a different thumbnail instead of in the same album. Although the albums had the "artist" listed already it would still go to a separate thumbnail. It took me a while to search and figure it out through trial and error but if you right click on the album and when the tab pops up you go to "get info" and select "yes" you want to "edit information for multiple items" you must input the "album artist" and it will automatically import it into the correct album it originally came from. Some of them you have to input the information manually through the "get info". Hope this helps!!!

  • Stop Itunes adding numeric prefix to song filename when burning playlist?

Hello, does anyone know how to get Itunes to stop automatically adding nummeric prefixes to the song filenames when burning a playlist? For example, if I have a playlist where the 3rd song is "Boom Boom Pow", Itunes will name this song "03 Boom Boom Pow.m4a" For various reasons I really don't want the number "03" added. I can't find how to make Itunes not do this? I just want the filename to be "Boom Boom Pow.m4a"
    thanx

I am posting this question in the ITunes forum instead.
