Playlist sorting on OS3.0 reversed

Has anyone else noticed the sorting of playlists has changed?
I have LOTS of playlists as Doppler adds items from each podcast to its own playlist, and i have lots of podcasts in my scubscription list.
I have several smart playlists setup to help consolidate the items ffrom those various playlists into groups and named them with two NUMBER DIGITS at the start to make them apear at the top of my list of playlists.
Now in OS3.0 they all show up AFTER the playlists.

Its not just ipod touch, it seems to be any ipod syncing to itunes.
The sort order used to be what you had in the side bar.
1. Playlist Name
2. Playlist Name
11. Playlist Name
Now it treats, 11 as a next number after 1 not as eleven.
1. Playlist Name
11. Playlist Name
2. Playlist Name
Very very very frustrating....

    i've got a 32gb touch, 2nd gen, running xp, latest itunes... blah blah
    for some odd reason. all my playlists are in the reverse order...is there anything i can do, besides restoring my ipod?

    okay there's some sort of error with handling playlists...if you select songs in itunes, and then select "create new playlist from selection", for some reason it shows up in the reverse order on the ipod...
    sorting won't make a difference.... what i did was manually drag and drop songs to playlists.... restoring the ipod didnt work.... sigh... please iron out these bugs apple!

  • Playlist sorting issue?

    My songs won't match the order they are put in on itunes when a sorting choice is reversed..... why? This used to work before.
    Here are the details:
    If I set a playlist to sort by title, it works when it is on A at the top. But if I click title again, so that the list is now setup so that A is at the bottom, it won't sync correctly. Same thing is true with other ways of sorting the playlists. I click on Date Added so that the oldest songs added are on the top, sync, and it works/syncs correctly on my ipod, but then when i click Date Added again so that the most recently added songs are at the top, sync, and it doesn't work (oldest songs are still at top when I want the newest added ones....).

    Sort it the way you want, then right-click on the playlist name and click Copy to Play Order.

    How can I sort the order of the items in a playlist? When I create a new playlist in NokiaOviSuite and drag songs to the playlist from Windows explorer, the sort order is reverse for some reason (z-a order instead of a-z order).

  • [All Platforms][Playlists] Playlist sorting

    Add ability to sort playlists alphabetically or arrange them in whatever order the end user prefers to more easily go through the playlists.

  • Ios 5 playlist sorting problem

    I'm having a problem with my iPhone 4S playlist sort order after restoring from a backup from my iPhone 4.  I have several playlists that I want sorted first, so I've put numbers in front of them.  On my iPhone 4, the playlist sort order is correct:
    1
    2
    3
    4
    A
    B
    C
    However on my iPhone 4S the order is:
    A
    B
    C
    1
    2
    3
    4
    I can't seem to be able to put my numbered ones first anymore!  Anyone know what the problem is or a solution?

  • Recently Played Playlist sorting

    Hello
    I recently bought a 6th generation ipod nano...On syncing the nano to my PC I found that the Recently Played playlist sorts in alphabetical order by artist on the ipod but sorts by most recent on itunes...Is there a way to change the sort on the nano? I have already gone into the items under the nano on itunes and changed it in there but the nano does not change.
    thanks

    My Recently played playlist is not correct. My setting is:
    Match all of the following rules:
    Last played is in last 3 days
    Playlist is Music
    Media kind is not Podcast
    but it does not work, the playlist is not correct.
    Delete the rule saying "Playlist is Music" and see what you get.
    Also, make sure you have it set for Live Updating.

  • [C] Trying to sort string into reverse order ... Blank. [SOLVED]

    Here are the pre-processors:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    Here are the global variables:
    char output[999];
    Here's the function to sort string to reverse order (I THINK THE PROBLEM IS HERE):
    char output[999];
    char *sort_reverse(const char *str)
    int i, j = 0;
    for (i = strlen(str); i > 0; i--)
    output[j] = str[i];
    j++;
    return output;
    And, function int main(void):
    int main(void)
    printf("Reverse of \"Hello\": %s\n", sort_reverse("Hello"));
    return 0;
    The output is:
    Reverse of "Hello":
    Why is that? how can i fix that?

    Instead of the global char output[999] wich is really big, you could allocate a perfectly sized array with calloc - like this in the sort_reverse function:
    char *output = calloc(strlen(input_string), sizeof(char));
    and in main program:
    char *reversed_string = sort_reverse("Whatever");
    printf("%s\n", reversed_string);
    //Remember to free reversed_string with
    free(reversed_string);
    //Since its allocated in the heap with calloc()
    Try check man-page for calloc, it will zero out the bytes aswell, then you wont have to worry about setting the last element to '\0'.
    NOTE: you have to iterate with "strlen(input_string) - 1" otherwise you will overwrite the needed '\0'
    EDIT:  As strlen excludes the '\0' in original string, then you have to make space for that by adding one to strlen return value so:
    char *output = calloc(strlen(input_string) + 1, sizeof(char));

  • ITunes Match Smart Playlist sorting on iOS7 by date added?

    Playlist works find on iTunes.
    Messed up on both iPad + iPhone
    Criteria basically sorts by genre, and only for songs added within X months.
    I have tried to add the criteria "Kind = music", and also limiting to 9999 songs, sorted by date.
    The first few songs are correct and in the right order, but after that there are just random songs.
    Any ideas?

    Hi guys, i have cracked it!!
    Ok, manage music manually on your iphone, plug into your computer in itunes to do all this
    . In each playlist, Sort by date added latest date at top of page
    . On yr iphone, make a new playlist, call it ie: chill 2 or pop 2 etc
    . Grab the chill playlist from iphone playlist and drag all into chill 2 folder
    . Delete chill playlist from iphone
    . Rename chill 2 playlist to be 'chill' same name as itunes playlist so it can sync when you sync again
    I did this with all my playlists, within the iphone itself whilst connected to computer itunes, now on my iphone, i see all my playlists as date added not alphabetical!!
    This has annoyed me for ages!! So glad i cracked it!! Found no answers on the internet, but so many people asking!!
    Cheers and goodluck

  • [Playlists] Sorting my playlists (not sorting songs, artists, etc within playlists)

    When I first got my Spotify account I could created a playlist and they were automatically listed (sorted) alphabetically. It worked great for me. All of my playlists I denoted iWorkout, iFocus, iChill, iWakeup, etc. Then followed up with the genre of music last, for example... iWorkout - Rap, iWorkout - Rock, etc. If I was working out all of my workout lists were grouped. If I needing to focus, to chill, to wakeup! I could easily find what I wanted. At some point an update came through and all of my playlists are listed by creation date?? I guess?? Sucks monkey balls. Now my playlists are all over the place and the ones that I use the most I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find, why? Because I created them first... and we can't even sort ascending or descending by creation date. It's just dumb - my opinion. It's been months... I assumed others would complain for me, but it's not returned or been enhanced. So, here's my complaint.  Please return the sorting to alphabetical or give us the option to sort them as we prefer, by date created, by alphabet, by last accessed, or whatever others may be asking for. Thanks-so-much

  • Still no Playlist sorting options-Deal breaker.

    I have been a strong supporter of Spotify since the beginning. In fact, I pay for 2 (that's right 2) Premium accounts in my household. That is about to change. The lack of easy Playlist sorting is unforgiveable. I can't count how many times I've almost wrecked my car looking for my Chet Baker playlist and have to scroll down down down when it could be easily found if I could sort things alphabetically. It's a basic function and I could swear it used to be available. It's too bad because I absolutely love Spotify otherwise. So any recommendations on a service that is similar to Spotify but has the very basic and standard function of sorteable lists/folders? Thanks a ton!

    I can sort my giant list of playlists by name, date etc.  but can't find a way to do this while using the Windows version of Spotify on my laptop.  This is silly.

  • How can I make a smart playlist sort album by artist in order of size?

    I'm trying to figure out a way to make a playlist of songs I generally like from a very large library to fit on my iPod. The songs aren't rated, and I don't want to have a totally random selection chosen by a smart playlist.
    I thought a good way to pare down the list would be to sort album by artist, and then filter that list in order of the size that each artist takes up. It's more important to get rid of an artist that I don't like that also hogs a lot of space than one that maybe only has one track. I figure if I could scan down the list and exclude the worst offenders, it conceivably would make the task much simpler.

    I usually make two playlists.
    One playlist with favorites I do want on the iPod and another smart playlist to fill the rest of the iPod. Just limit the size to th esize of the iPod minus wthe size of my iPod selection playlist.

  • Creative Zen 32GB playlist sorting

    I just bought the plain Zen 32GB. Not the Zen this or that. Just plain Zen. When I go to manage playlists on my computer (Windows XP), the only way I can see to sort playlists is by dragging items up and down. There have to be other ways that I'm missing here. I would expect to be able to sort a large playlist by any column order or randomly but I can't find those features. Where are they?
    Thanks.

    Yep. I know I can shuffle the player so that things are mixed around when they play. I want to randomize the playlist. I have some playlists I want to play in random order and some I want to play in the order They belong in. For example, I would not want an audio book that is split into tracks to shuffle. That would be stupid. But I do want my Beatles collection to play in random order. It's my understanding from reading other posts (about other Zen players) that playback is either shuffled or it's not. You cannot specifiy shuffle mode per playlist. It's eitehr all or none. So you have to turn it on and off depending on which playlist you're playing. If that's teh case, then it's pretty useless to me. You guys should look at WinAmp. For over 0 years it's given users the ability to BOTH shuffle and randomize - 2 totally different features but both are very useful. I can create a playlist and then randomize it so that it plays the list in teh order it's showing but the list has been mixed up permanently until I organize it again a different way. Shuffle simply plays the list in a random order. They are not the same thing but have similar results. it would sure be nice if you'd add that in a firmware update since it's just a software issue.

  • Bug: iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 podcast smart playlist sort order and how to fix.

    There seems to be a bug in iOS 5 and iTunes 10.5 involving the sort order of a smart playlist of podcasts. I created such a playlist and sorted by release date on iTunes but I noticed it had a different sort order on the iPod Touch.
    After playing around with it a bit I found that the only way to preserve the sort order that I have in iTunes on the iPod Touch is to uncheck "Live Updating" in the smart playlist.

    Confirming this incredibly annoying bug.  Basic list sorting not working... real bottom shelf work apple.
    workaround update:  limit to must be turned on, set it to an absurdly high number if you don't want to actually limit the playlist, then one of the sortby options in that submenu will work.   The live update checkbox is irrelevant from experimentation.
    This workaround does NOT fix the fundamental problem: sort order from itunes in smart playlists is not being synced and preserved in ios5 devices.
    This is the latest in a long string of debacles which is making me seriously consider swapping to debian stable. (snow leopard to lion was a severe downgrade in performance for anyone doing heavy multitasking.. scheduling is FUBAR... when a command option escape beachballs on a brand new core 17 machine, your OS has serious problems with nice levels)

  • IPad music smart playlist sort

    I have a problem with the sort order of smart playlists being different than the computer I am synching with? Any ideas?. I hav ipad2 synced with an iMac 27" running lion. Any help very much appreciated

    it's a bug, but here's the workaround:
    at the bottom of the playlist, select "Limit to [however many] items selected by [choose the order you prefer].
    • by "limiting" to a high number of items or GB, you won't be limiting the playlist at all.
    • to sort alphabetically, choose "selected by name." (or whatever other option you want).
    after doing this, you shouldn't see any change to the items displayed in the smart playlist in itunes. however, the playlist will now sync properly to your idevices.  :-)
