Playlist with Video

New ITouch and discovering what it can and cannot do. So far I am dancing in the streets because I was able to make playlist with music videos in it. I do find a small anomaly that I want to ask about. The only way I was able to do this I found by accident. If I make a playlist with only videos it shows up in the playlist when displayed through Itunes, but the iTouch doesn't seem to know about the playlist until I add at least one audio file. Then it appears on the iTouch and works exactly as I expected a playlist to work. If I delete the audio file from the playlist the whole playlist disappears again from the iTouch. I consider this a small price to pay for someone finally allowing videos in playlists. Is this the way it is supposed to work?

thanks! you're a lifesaver. looks like apple didnt have it all figured out

  • Playlists with videos won't go away

    iPod doesn't support playlist folders. As a result, the music playlists menu is annoying to use unless I trim it down to only include some of my playlists.
    The obvious way to get rid of unwanted playlists is to uncheck them in the "Music" tab under the iPod in iTunes. I did this, but some playlists just wouldn't go away. It turns out that when I am syncing "All Movies" and "All TV Shows", any unchecked playlist that contains a video will still appear in the music playlist menu. (It seems like they were always empty playlists in the iPod.)
    My workaround is to sync "selected playlists" for movies and tv shows, and to create a single playlist with all my videos. That playlist still appears under the music playlist menu of the iPod, but at least it's just 1.
    I assume this is a bug. Anyone have a better workaround? Or is there just something I'm missing?

    Hi, Spangles1234, and welcome to the Community,
    I use the Windows Desktop version of Skype; please check this setting by clicking, in order:
    On the menu bar atop your contact list, Tools -> Options -> Advanced Options -> Connection -> check in Allow direct connections to your contacts only -> Save.
    As a proactive measure, please also run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware software suite using the most current virus signature files available.
    Continue to Block and check in the Report as Abuse/Spam button.  This is important and Skype does utilize these reports.  [Edited to redact e-mail address, which is no longer in service.]
    I recommend you create a new Skype account that includes no profile details and no references that could be connected with your first account.
    Finally, please see this FAQ article: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34447/what-should-i-do-if-i-see-abusive-behavior-on-skype
    This is key: Contact your local law enforcement agency to report the incident, and request that they, in turn, file a report with Skype to report these incidents.
    Kind regards,
    Elaine

  • Bug? Smart Playlists with Video Kind as Music Video.

    Can someone confirm? If you make a Smart Playlist with the rule "Video Kind is Music Video", nothing happens. If you edit the playlist, no rules are displayed...
    Strangely, however, my legacy Smart Playlist from a previous version of iTunes that contains similar criteria continues to work.
    Steve.

    Yup, I can confirm. The whole Video Kind rule doesn't seem to work. I did report it but more voices couldn't hurt.

    When I play videos from this list I hear the audio, but the video is frozen on a frame.
    All videos work fine when played from the main Videos menu.
    Is anybody able to play video podcasts from smart playlists ?

  • Creating Smart Playlists with Video iPods

    Does anyone know how to create a Smart Playlist that excludes podcasts, videos and TV shows - so that it is music only?
    I figured out that I can include criteria in the playlist to have it "not contain" items whose Genre is podcast or TV shows, but there doesn't seem to be any way to exclude music videos.

    To exclude videos, add both of these rules:
    Kind does not contain "video"
    Kind does not contain "movie"
    This covers all cases I have seen. This will also exclude TV shows (since they are videos/movies) so you don't have to worry about that Genre check.

  • Video playlist with iPod app

    I thought that I used to be able to make iTunes video playlists and play them with the iPod app on my iPad.
    Now it seems that all of my videos are only available in the iPad Video app but none are organized into a playlist.
    iTunes shows the iPad video playlists with videos and the playlist show up on the iPad app on the iPad but they are empty.
    What am I missing?
    Can I organize videos into playlists on the iPad?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    I am having the same problem and since the upgrade it's been a huge disappointment to me. I wish some developers read it and work and solving it ASAP. Not being able to organize videos in playlists rendered my ipad completely useless for me. It's an upgrade nightmare i wish it goes away soon. Good luck to us.

  • How can you create a playlist with music and music video and play those from same playlist through Apple TV?

    How can you create a playlist on Ipod touch with music and music video,  and play those from same playlist through Apple TV?  I can download, create a playlist with both music and music video, stream that through the Apple TV with no problem.  The sound and the information show up on the TV, but when it gets to a music video, it only shows the information and "artwork".
    I also have a video playlist - videos play fine through the Apple TV, but will not shuffle through all videos - continues to repeat the same one.  I have most definitely selected shuffle in both locations - from the playlist and on the ipod video screen while video is playing.

    I finally got it... had to sync the photos with the music in iMovie, arrange the voiceover in GarageBand then export to iTunes, and then I was able to put it all together in iMovie and burn in iDVD... had a few glitches along the way but finally finished : )

    I'm having the same issue, i restored my phone to Factory settings, even tried restoring it to my backup, half of my music bought from itunes won't play on my iphone and i'm super annoyed, this only happened once i updated to ios 7.2 so i assume its another glitch to go with my imessages not sending, getting sick of this.

  • Next and Previous don't work with video in Playlists

    In iTunes for Windows 10.1.2.17, when playing video from a playlist, the video will end and the video window will close, and playback stops. No new video will play. The same thing occurs when clicking on the Next or Previous buttons (both on the video window and in the playback controls at the top of iTunes. Shouldn't the next video in the playlist (or the next random video) play once the first has completed?
    This is a new behavior. It did not occur with earlier versions of iTunes.
    The Next and Previous buttons work as they are supposed to when playing video from the library, but then there is no way to select specific videos or to randomize playback as is possible under a playlist (which is the whole point of the playlist.)
    The Next and Previous buttons still work as they are supposed to when playing music from a playlist. This new odd behavior occurs only with video playback.
    Is this a known issue, or is there something I'm missing in the operation of iTunes? Are other people experiencing this behavior?

    This happened to me as well with Windows 7 32 bit (which I did as as upgrade from Vista Home Premium - if that might foul things up a bit) and affects Firefox 34.1 and IE. I did a system restore which took me back to Firefox 33 and Flash was fine. Later in the day Firefox updated back to 34.1 and I lost Flash again.

  • Playlist with mixed songs and videos

    I'm trying to use a Nano to play music and videos with a projector system. I'd like to play a playlist with both mp3 audio files and mp4 music videos.
    Setting up the playlist is no problem. In iTunes (Mac) it plays fine, switching between audio and video modes.
    However, on my Nano, if I play the list from the Songs menu, I only get the audio from the video files. OK, fine, I understand the logic of that. But when I select the playlist from the Video Playlists menu, I only see the Videos and it won't play the music-only files.
    Is there any way to get the Nano to play the mixed playlist like iTunes does?
    Cliff

    You can't do it with the iPod nano, but I have been doing it with a 5th gen for several years. I was shocked to find out this feature is now gone in the new nano. I'm guessing (but would like confirmation) that the same is true for the iPod classic since they use the same GUI/OS.
    I sent feedback to Apple here - http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodnano.html
    Maybe if more folks who want that feature back, Apple will fix it.

  • How can i make playlists with only music and no videos?

    I would love to be able to make a playlist that only has music so I can figure out exactly how much I have in there and also be able to put it on my older iPod.

    Create a Smart playlist with the rule:
    Kind>contains>audio file
    Check the box "Live Updating"
    You can read more about smart playlists here: How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes

  • Why can't I sync a playlist with only podcasts in it (to my IPHON4)?

    Made a playlist with specific podcasts in it. (my weekly show series I like to listen to)
    But, it will not sync the podcast shows. It seems like I can only sync the 10 or 5 or xx latest shows. Seems kind of dumb that I can't create a list to be able to listen to several podcasts in a user defined order....
    Grrrrr Steve....

    Are any of the podcasts video podcasts? If I recall, that will cause a problem.

  • Transfer music from iPod mini to iPod with video

    I'm going to be spending a few nights at my friend's house and they plan on giving me their iPod with video. I currently have the iPod mini and I was just wondering if there's a way (in Windows XP) if I can get my music and playlists from my iPod mini to my new iPod with video at my friend's house so I don't have to wait until i can go home and connect it to my PC.

    Actually Problem solved!
    if anyone wants to know the steps here they are
    *make sure your iPod is enabled for hard disk use*
    -on your PC, export the library and any playlists to a flash drive or CD (in this case, I'm using a flash drive)
    -create a new user account in Windows
    -open and setup iTunes
    -connect the iPod that has the music you want
    -go to FILE then IMPORT, and select all your playlist text files along with your library xml file and import
    -when done, connect your NEW iPod and format it
    -then sync the music and there you go! all your songs on a new iPod when you don't have access to your PC!

  • Client side playlist with dynamicaly streamed items possible?

    Hey,
    is there a way to define a client side playlist like this:
    ns.play(      "stream1",      0,      30              );
    ns.play(      "stream2",      10,    -1, false      );
    ns.play( "     stream3",      0,      -1, false      );
    ns.play(      "stream4",      30,    120, false    );
    but instead of a single videofiles for each playlistentry use dynamic streaming?
    I know how the DynamicStream class is working and how to set it up but i can't find any information if it is possible to combined those two techniques.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Yes upto a certain extent you can achieve it, see below approach if it suits you. You can have playlist as xml file and each video tag will represent single item in playlist. So suppose you have xml file with video tags as below:
    <videoList vodurl="rtmp://localhost/myapp">
    <video>
                      <label>flv:stream</label>
                       <data>stream1,stream2,stream3</data>
                       <bitrate>100,200,350</bitrate>
    </video>
    <video>
                       <label>mp4:stream</label>
                        <data>mp4:stream1.mp4,mp4:stream2.mp4,mp4:stream3.mp4</data>
                        <bitrate>100,200,350</bitrate>
    </video>
    </videoList>
    Then you need to create dynamic stream item("dsi") as below for each video tag and create array of "dsi".
    var dsi:DynamicStreamItem = new DynamicStreamItem();
    dsi.addStream( "mp4:stream1.mp4", 100);
    dsi.addStream( "mp4:stream2.mp4", 200 );
    dsi.addStream( "mp4:stream3.mp4", 350 );
    ds.startPlay( dsi );
    Then iterate each item of array, while you are playing first item of array then based on netstatus messages like "NetStream.Play.Complete" you can decide to move on to next item in array. So in this way you can create client side playlist.

  • Firefox freezes when i visit websites with videos on the background or i watch videos.I have windows 7 and the laatest version of mozilla.

    I have windows 7 and the latest version of firefox.When i watch videos on youtube or visit websites with videos on the background mozilla freezes. I tried to disable all the extensions and plugins but it had no result.I didn't had this problem with versions of mozilla previous to 4.

    I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
    When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
    At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
    I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
