Playlists - 3 iPod's but only one laptop
Is it possible to create 3 different playlists on one Apple laptop for 2 iPods (one new colour) and a mini.
My son does not want my tunes on his playlists - what's wrong with the Killers and Kaiser Chiefs! - and both of us don't want my wife's playlist.
Can anyone help?
You sound like the resident expert on this topic. My sister and I both have 60 GB Ipods and are using the same Itues program and library on the same computer. I had my ipod plugged in last night and was transferring some music. I safely ejected mine and plugged in my sisters which is registered under her own name, serial number etc.
Itunes wouldn't regcognie her ipod and before I noticed this I put the two cd's I had ripped on her Ipod. Today her Ipod shows the same song count as mine, shows all the song file, but won't play a thing. We reset it and it still won't work.
Do you have any suggestions for me?? please Thanks Natalie

I download two differnt podcast venues onto my iPod shuffle, yet the shuffle will play only one of them, looping the first to the last. If I delete that all the programs of that podcast -then the other podcast programs will play-yet there seems no way to advance, attach or mix them. How do I correct this?

I have my ipod backed up on multiple computers but only one computershows all my playlists. How can I get all my play lists to show up on multiple computers?
If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to a different computer if your current one is out of commission. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. -

I down loaded a 3 Part audiobook but only one part plays on my ipod touch. All parts did play when first downloaded. Whats gone wrong?
I would either say that the iOS is correpted due to a software glitch or y have have a hardware problem like bad memory locations that are corrupting the iOS.
- Restore from backup via iTunes. This will install a fresh copy of the iOS. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. This will elimate corruptin in the backup causing the problem.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Have you verified that it is the headphone jack that is the problem by trying opther sets of headphones?
Have you tried cleaning the jack by using a QTip or similar ite?
If you confirmed that the headphone jack is the problem Apple will ony exchange the iPod for $99, $149 or $1999 depending upon the capacity.
A third-party place like the following is less expensive. Google for other places.

You don't need separate iCloud accounts if you want to simply sync unique content to each device using iTunes. I have three iDevices using one ID and one iTunes library and each device has it's own content on it. You need to set up the sync configuration for each device. This is what I recommend.
First turn off auto sync in iTunes. Launch iTunes on the Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK and then quit iTunes.
Connect one of your devices to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading.
Click on a tab in iTunes - Apps for instance.
Click on the Apps that you want to sync to that device.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Follow the same procedure for all of the other tabs in iTunes ..... Music, Photos, Movies and so on.
After you have finished making all of your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
When you are done, eject the first device and do the same thing with the other device. iTunes will now remember the sync configuration on each device.
You can change that configuration any time that you like by following the steps outlined above.
If you want to continue to auto sync, turn it back on in the iTunes preferences as described above. -
My IPad 2, IPhone 3GS ans iPod no longer work with apple TV, I have 2 apple TV in my house and for he last 3 weeks the iPod was the only one we could use for appleTV now none of them works, the apple TV icon does not show up any more. Re-started everything.

RESPONSES:
1) When I set up my iMac, I did not transfer any data directly from my windows PC. I simply used the same iTunes login and account. I have access to all of the files via the "Purchased" section of the iTunes store. If I click "Download Previous Purchases" text, I can download ALL of the purchases I have ever made.
2) I have the Apple TV 2, so good news, question answered. I thought maybe it was the Apple TV 1, but it is the Black model, so bam. Good response for you. Well the whole damned reply is an awesome response, just pointing out that one piece of awesome. I stated that it was an Apple TV 2, and yet you were still good enough to figure I could be mistaken, and provide me with knowleedge just incase.
QUESTIONS:
3) So can my iMac not stream the data directly from itunes, without download? Apple TV can, but perhaps that is something among many things that maker it unique, and awesome.

I work in the computer support section for the Military. The only problem is we use Windows , lol. Well that and i've been gone for nearly 6 months on recover. I go back next month though I hope. I have been trying to transfer some different movies from my PC to my IPad, but they are not showing in the "movie" folder. I have sync'd the movies (these are mp4 files) that I wanted transfered, but only one is showing in the folder. There are 13 other movies in the folder that have the ICloud symbol in the corner of their picture. I understand that I can pull those movies from ICloud any time I want to watch them, but I want to watch the ones that I've just sync'd with my IPad. How do I find them? After I checked the movies I wanted, I "applied" them and watched it sync and copy the wanted movies to my IPad. Now what? Thanks.
There are some good programs that you could use to convert the format, Handbrake or Mpegstreamclip are two good free ones. Convert them to MP4 and then try importing them again.

No you do not need separate Apple ID's in order to use 3 devices with one Apple ID. I use 4 devices to Message and FaceTime and all use the same Apple ID. You do need to add additional email addresses for the other devices.

Home sharing is turned on on both of my computers but only one computer is showing the icon.
I have both of my computers turned on and home sharing is turned on on both computers as well but only one computer is showing the icon so I can't share. I have tried turning off the home share and turning it back on but nothing changed.

I need to edit out parts of a song to cut it down to two minutes for my daughter's talent show. I went to info/start time and it will cut down one part but only one part. I need to put three parts together. I tried adding duplicates of the song to the list but if If I change the start time on one it will change it on all of them.
In your library, right-click the song you want to edit.
select "get info".
go to "options" and select the start and stop times for your first section of the song.
click "OK".
Find the shortened version of the song in your library. It may take a minute for it to show up. right click it again and select "create (????) version". (the ???? is different for different formats).
The library will spit out a new, second version of the song which you can rename. I suggest you use the original title and add a 1 to the end.
Now you can go back to the other version and repeat the process with a different start/stop time.
Once you are done editing, you can burn all of your versions to a disk, just make sure your interval time is zero so there are no gaps between edits.
To keep the orginal song on your library, just go back to the original and put the start/stop times back to the original settings.
