Playlists are not syncing on mac and macbook - have match

I have itunes match turned on on my imac, my macbook pro and my iphone.  The playlists are not syncing which I thought they would and I thought they did match at one point.  For instance:
I have a playlist named bachelorette party I created on my macbook pro itunes.  I put 53 songs on it and it played just fine at the party on my iphone, all 53 songs were on my phone.
Today, there are 12 songs on my phone in the bachelorette party playlist, 12 on my macbook pro, and 41 on my imac.  So, 53 songs total, but not on anyone device.
Seems to me like I should have 53 of the exact same songs on all devices since I have itunes match enabled on all.
Am I missing something?  I have home sharing turned on to.
I appreciate any help you guys can give.
Thanks!!

Also, I should add that I tested the itunes match buy purchasing a song in itunes on my macbook, then i dragged it to my bachelorette playlist.  Sure enough, it showed up on my iphone in the bachelorette playlist moments later. However, it did not appear in the same playlist on imac.  It appears as if my imac does not want to play along...lol.

  • Messages are not synced on imac and macbook -- missing a month of messages

I have used Messages on an iMac at home, and a Macbook Pro on travel, both of them using OS 10.8.4.  The Messages/Preferences/Acclounts window shows that both computers are using the same settings. During travel last month I added several Messages accounts, using the Macbook. These do not now show up on the iMac. The imac shows 4 of these accounts, and when I now put a message on one of these, with either mac, it shows up on both macs just fine. But I am missing a month of messages that were sent on the macbook that do not show up on the imac, and I have 5 accounts that were added to the macbook Messages that do not appear on the imac Messages. How can I sync everything?

    HI,
This is a pic of my Window Menu in drop down and the Preferences opened at the Accounts pane.
I have highlighted the most well known Account of my AIM Screen Name.
As you can see the list here on the left has a Scroll Bar and I am not displaying all the 10 Accounts shown in the in the Window Menu.
The Window Menu will show them as a combined list by default, due to the setting in the General Pane of the Preferences.
The Messages Menu itself > Accounts will also show the number of Accounts that are Logged in
By Default (without you ever having started up Messages) it will two accounts.
These will be the iMessages account (Minus any Apple ID) and the Bonjour account that is normally Disabled by default (it is only any use when two or more Macs are on the same LAN and have the Bonjour Account Enabled).
If I untick the "Enable this Account" Box for some of the accounts I can get down to 3 Buddy List type accounts listed in the Window Menu and the Main Messages Window.
You may notice from the first pic that the Description field in the Preferences (Main AIM) is the name in the list in the Window Menu and at the bottom left in the Main Messages window.
    Sync
In terms of iMessages this means "Display on all Devices".
It does not mean mark as read on all devices or deal with as if dealt with on another device.
iMessages and Chats that might be Saved.
The application will Save Chats and iMessages if set to do so in the Messages Pane of the Preferences.
It will do so when you close the app. If you leave a conversation (iMessages) or a Chat (Instant Messages from Buddies) on display in the Main Messages window over a number of days it is likely that Messages will create a Save of this each day in ~/Library/Messages/Archive/(by date)
Also in this ~/Library/Messages folder is the Chat.db items
This is the bit that hold a running record of the iMessages conversations you have had and tends to be the bit that brings up the "History" if you restart a conversation with a Contact you have already iMessage'd.
Moving corresponding chat.db items from one computer to another may need the Ownership changed.
    Go to the ~/Library/Messages folder.
Highlight the chat.db item and then do a Get Info (CMD and i keys together).
This brings up the Info Panel and at the bottom are the Read and Write Privileges
Highlighting th top "person" and then using the Cogwheel type icon should reveal your Shortname in greyed out text if you Own the item.
As I own mine my shortname is greyed out
Of course, using my shortname as an example you may be "ralph" on both computers but you  may need to make the Moved file "yours" on this computer.
I only have one Mountain Lion compatible computer and have not tried this to see that it actually works in "moving" chats from one computer to another.

  • Photos not syncing between Mac and iPhone since update to Photos on Mac.

Ever since I updated to Photos on my Late 2013 macbook pro retina, photos are not syncing between it and my iPhone 6. Both are updated to the most recent software update. Photo stream is on. Does anyone have this problem or know a solution?

You will have to go the the Photos tab in iTunes when you connect the iPhone.  Then reset the photo sync options.  They were reset with the upgrade to use iCloud by default, but you can change the settings back to sync folders, just like before.

  • We have some 3rd generations iPod touches that are note syncing with the computer we have. The original computer that the ipods was synced to is gone. We downloaded the itunes to the new computer and logged on as the same account and it won't sync.

We have some 3rd generations iPod touches that are note syncing with the computer we have. The original computer that the ipods was synced to is gone. We downloaded the itunes to the new computer and logged on as the same account and it won't sync the applications we have.

An iPod can pn;y sync wiht one iTunes kibrary and the new computer is a new iTunes library:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party probgram like one of those dicussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

  • Upgraded to IOS 8 and now documents are not syncing from mac to IOS devices

    Hello,
I upgraded to IOS 8 on iPhone 5 and iPad 2 and now documents are not syncing from the  mac to IOS devices.
How can restore document sharing  functions to the iCloud pre-IPOS 8?
    Thank you
    Don

Okay, so we're moving forward now.  no problem.   while waiting for a response I noticed that both NUMBERS and PAGES sync-ed to the iCloud on iphone5.   However, I am still waiting for the iPad to sync. post IOS8.   Should I go get a cup of coffee or is there a way to expedite the sync process?

  • Contacts are not syncing from Mac to iPhone

iCloud Contacts are not syncing if created on my macbook. But if created on iOS they sync.  Have no clue on this one.

It took me awhile to figure out what is actually happening here, even though it seems obvious now. Unfortunately I can find no way to do what I need.
On MacBook Pro Contacts, over on left page, at top left it says "All Contacts", under that "On my Mac", under that ""iCloud". I have figured out that "On My Mac" contacts are separate from "iCloud" contacts (seems obvious). The contacts in "iCould" are the only ones which sync with your iOS devices.
Unfortunately, when I add contacts through Mail (my usual procedure), they are only added to the "On My Mac" set. I can find no way to have them automatically add to the "iCloud" set of contacts instead of the "On My Mac" set. I cannot figure out how to get these contacts in the "On My Mac" set to sync to iCloud without some very fancy and complicated exporting, deleting, importing ALL contacts, and it is a lot easier just to type the contact info into a new card in the "iCloud" contact set.
Does anyone know of some setting to allow me to use iCloud exclusivly? That's why I want iCloud and Mac, to work together.

  • Playlists and new purchases are not syncing between itunes and iphone

all devices are updated. My Mac itunes is not syncing with iphone itunes, playlists and new purchases. HELP

This definitely happened with the new 10.7.0.21! We are having the same problem, the apps are all in iTunes but cannot sync anymore! Apple needs a bug fix ASAP.

  • My documents are not syncing between iPad2 and Mac Pro using iCloud

I just download Lion yesterday...iCloud is turned on to sync documents on my MacPro, my iPhone 4, and my iPad 2, all using the new iOS 5...however, documents are not showing.  I created a document on my iPad2 using Pages, and it does not show on my Mac.  I create a document on my Mac and it does not show on my iPad2.  What is wrong?

iwork on Lion does no document syncing. Regardless if you have set "document and data" in icloud preferences on a Mac. Not one single app uses this setting on OSX. Thus far document syncing is iOS5 devices only.
You must visit www.icloud.com from Mac to download your files .
After editing them you need to re-upload them manually also via the Browser to have them updated on your iOS devices.

  • Selected iTunes Playlists Do Not Sync from Mac to iPhone

I've seen similar postings lately but no responses. I've recently updated iTunes by removing duplicate playlists that inexplicably appeared after buying iTunes Match. Had many problems syncing playlists with Match turned on, so I've shut that off in both iTunes and on my iPhone 5s. Repeated a number of steps that got my playlists on other devices (mini and Air) but to no avail. Anyone with a similar issue if you've found a workaround/solution I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks,

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • Imessage is not syncing between mac and iphone?

My Imessage is not working with my iphone and mac, I can either send from my mac or my iphone they are not working as one like the website says it should, any help would be great.
    Thanks

To solve this problem make sure:
Your Messages App on your Mac is signed in using your Apple ID.
iMessages is enabled on your iPhone.
iMessages on your iPhone is logged in using your Apple ID.
Your Caller ID in iMessages on your iPhone is set to your email address.
The person you are sending messages to also uses iMessages.
Lastly, you may have to begin a new conversation with the person to get them to sync.

  • ICloud sync: Contacts are not syncing from Mac to iCloud, other services OK.

Notes and calendar data are syncing fine. Syncing between iPhone and iCloud on all 3 appears to work fine. I have toggled syncing through the control panel; did not help.

Go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then go back and sign back in.  (This deletes the account and iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud.  Your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

  • Playlists are not syncing correctly - music loaded on iPhone but not in playlists themselves.

Spent the whole day trying to deal with this iOS5 update on my iPhone 4. It got bricked, I had to restore it, and then couldn't find the most recent backup that I had. So I had to rearrange and re-add all my apps and many photo albums. Anyway, now I'm struggling with my playlists in the iPod/Music app (which I manage manually). in ITunes, I can view my iPhone playlists just fine, play all the songs there, etc. But when I look at the playlists on my iPhone itself most of them are completely empty. Some have some songs in them. If I go to the songs browser instead of playlist browser, however, I see all the songs; including the ones 'missing' from the playlists.
I deleted all my playlists and tried to re-add them to the iPhone. The same thing happens. A playlist will add, and show up completely fine in iTunes under iPhone, but on the iPhone itself the playlists are wrong (empty or missing songs).
Is this a bug? How can I fix this?

Having the same issue as well. The 4S is my first iPhone, but I've been using my 3rd Gen Touch since it came out. This is the buggiest iOS I've used and most of my problems are within the Music app.
The playlists on my phone do not match the playlists as they are on in iTunes. I keep having movies show up in my Recently Added playlist despite the "Media Kind is Music" filter on that playlist. I have music with 5 plays showing up on a playlist that excludes any music with over 4 plays.
Another issue I'm having is with creating new playlists. I can create a playlist, name it, and start adding songs to it. But when I try to click Done, it won't let me. I'll click the top left arrow to go back to the main page and it'll let me click Done but then all that songs I've added are gone.
    Just a real buggy experience.

  • Smart Playlists are not syncing!

I don't remember when this stopped working but I have 1 playlist that shows in iTunes but does not update on the iPod. Not sure why... all the others seem to sync just fine. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Solution/work around:
Add a new smart play list.
File > New Smart Playlist. From this point a pop up will appear.
    Match following rule is selected
(Date added) - (In the last) - (2) - (weeks)
    No limit set
    No match only checked items
    Live update selected
    Then <ok>.
Change name of smart playlist to something like 'New Music' and Sync to IPhone/IPod.

  • Playlists are not syncing

I have an 80GB video iPod running 1.2.3. I am unable to sync all of my smart playlists (I have about a dozen or so). The sync picks up some, but not all.
Does anyone else have problems like this, and if so, has anyone fixed it?

The way I fixed it was to create a smartlist with my entire library in it (create a rule that doesn't match any of your media, i.e. "Artist" "is not" "akljdfkldjfdkl")
I then chose "Sync selected playlists" and synced only that playlist. I didn't lose anything off the iPod because the media was all in that playlist, so it just sucked out all playlists and added only that one. I then ejected the iPod, deleted the playlist, and re-synced all music and playlists. My playlists showed up.
So the trick seems to be to remove the playlists off the iPod and then to re-sync them. You just have to be careful about removing them or you risk having to resync most of your library. Not a big deal if you have a lot of time, but if you don't want to sync several gigs at once, make sure to create a playlist with most of your iPod's library to sync with.
