Playlists by artists

is there a script to have smart playlists automatically created by artist name ?
I transferred 30 go of songs from my friend's PB wihout the playlists and now I do not want to create them manually;

well paint me confused. you can Browse by ARTIST... there is not ump-teen songs to browse thru that way... for example....
on my library, i have 7000+ songs... but only about 250 artists. I browse by artist (which is just like having a playlist for each) in the Browse function.
on the iPod, it is much the same... i click on MUSIC->Artists.... then only the artists are listed.
it still sounds like you are duplicating effort.

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

Sync them to your iPod. To sync individual items use the manual method, See:
iTunes 11 for Mac: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
You can delete individual items from the iPod by swiping a song right or left and tapping the Delete button that appears.

How do you "shuffle" selected playlists or artists only on iPod touch

Hi there.
Start your playlist playing first, then click on the shuffle icon (two intertwined arrows on the right under the scrub bar) to turn shuffle play on. It will then shuffle just within the current playlist.
For artists, choose your artist from the Artists tab in your itunes app, choose All Songs then start one of the songs playing. Now if you turn shuffle on, it will shuffle songs only for that particular artist.

How Can I Sort Playlists By Artist Name IPOD

When I select a playlist on my Ipod Color, it will take me to the list of songs in song title alphabetical order. I want to have them appear in artist alphabetical order instead, how can I do this?

Forget it, asked same question before, and it seems that you can do nothing about it than send feedback to Apple and hope it gets done in a future update-release.
It should be so easy, such a function, but it is definitely not available currently. A real pain.....

Smart Playlist of Artists who only have 1 or 2 songs?

Hi all,
Itunes has completely changed my buying habits. I now have a lot of artists where I only have 1 or 2 songs by them and their songs often get overlooked when I'm choosing an artist to listen to. I was trying to figure out a way to make a smart playlist that has all artists where I only own 1 or 2 songs by them.
Is that even possible?

I have a "live updating" smart playlist that is nothing more than 200 of the songs "Least recently Played" and I also add a rule to exclude songs with Play Count = 0 (to new stuff I added to the library doesn't fill it instead. I use this playlist when I am in the mood to listen to the things in my library I haven't heard in a long time without having to go find them.

IPod playlists by Artist

I've noticed several inconsistencies when I access my iPod 60G. When searching for a song using the Artist feature only one song by a particular shows up in that list. However, I can find the other songs if I go to the Music>Songs feature. Also, in the Artist section I have the same artist listed twice with half of the songs in the first selection and the other half in the second selection. I've checked for different spellings and checked for different letters capitalized or not, but as far as I can tell there is no reason for these anomalies. Any ideas?

First thing to do with the artists showing under two lists is to search and then select ALL the songs that belong to the same artist. Do a get info and under Artist name, retype the name. Since you are typing it in to change ALL of them, they are now all going to be the same for sure.
With respect to artist's songs not all showing up under an artist's name. One reason is a bug in the iPod where if you only have a single album listed for the artist, any other songs by that artist not on the album will not show up in that list because they have no album name associated with them. If you add an album name to any of those or import another album, once you have a second album listed, then ALL songs (regardless if they have an album name or not) will show up. So solution is to find a song not showing up that doesn't have an album name and give it an album name.
Another possibility is I think when a song is on a compilation, it won't show up under that artist's name. Pick a song that doesn't show up, do a get info and see if the "part of compilation" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and see if it now shows up under the artist.

I have also noticed bugs with the music app after updating to iOS 8.2, though not exactly the one you mentioned.
Soon after updating my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.2, I connected it to my computer via USB cable because I wanted to transfer new music from my iTunes library to my iPhone. My iPhone, before I connected it to my computer, had about 5000 songs on it. However, after my iPhone 6 synced with iTunes, all of a sudden the amount of songs on my iPhone went down to about 2500 songs. When I looked through the Music App, I realized that only the music I had purchased from iTunes remained on my iPhone, while music ripped from my CD collection had somehow been deleted. I ended up having to transfer my whole iTunes music library to my iPhone again! This issue has to have something to do with updating to iOS 8.2, because it has never happened to me before, and iTunes hasn't been updated lately but is up to date and has worked fine.
After transfering all my music back on my iPhone again, I started noticing a major bug within the iPhone Music App. The incorrect Artist Info is displayed for many songs I purchased from iTunes. For example, I have the album "My Everything (Deluxe)" by Ariana Grande on my iPhone. Only one song from the album, "Love Me Harder", is by the artists "Ariana Grande & The Weeknd" and supposed to display as such in the artist info section in the music app. However, 13 of the 15 tracks from the album all incorrectly display "Ariana Grande & The Weeknd" in the artist info for each track in the Music App (the exception being the track "Bang Bang" which actually does display the correct artist info for that song). All these songs display the correct info on iTunes, and I even tried removing the album, and then retransfering it back to my iPhone, to no avail. This bug occurs on many tracks and albums I've purchased from iTunes, but only in the iPhone Music App, and only started after updating to iOS 8.2. Tracks ripped from my CD collection seem to be unaffected.

Can you only download one song at a time or is there a way to select an artist or playlist?

Foolish me, I loaded EVERYTHING I own onto my iTunes library - about 40 gig. Problem is I have a 32 gig iPad (v1 - don't laugh, it still works fine). Now I need to be selective in loading music only it. I travel a lot on airplanes and want my iPad for music and movies.
From what I can see, you are only offered the download icon next to individual songs, not on playlists or artist's names.
One other thing for you experts, is it possible on the iPad to see playlists and artist configuration as a list, rather than icons? I am much better at organizing via lists than icons.

You should see a Download All icon at the bottom of your playlists, and also see a download icon to the right of the Artist name at the top.
AFIK you cannot view Artists or Playlists as lists on an iPad.

How can i change sort options for a playlist in ios8? I would like to sort by album, or album artist like I can in iTunes for OSX.

So here's an example of why I would like to figure this out. I have a playlist on my iPhone that contains only new music. I would like to be able to sort this playlist by artist, so that when i click on the playlist, I can quickly find the album I have added to the playlist and play it. Currently, I can only see a long list of tracks. How do you sort playlists?

I just found the solution to this myself.
In a very un-Apple way, this is an undocumented feature only accessible by right- (or control-) clicking.
1. Change one track to your desired sort settings (for instance, set the Sort Artist to Yankovic, Weird Al.
2. Right-click on that track. In the contextual menu that appears, there is a new submenu called "Apply Sort Field." If you choose "Same Artist," it will apply your new sorting information to all your other tracks by "Weird Al" Yankovic (or, if you are not a huge nerd, any other artist you substitute).

How to copy a playlist from iTunes to a USB (keeping artist song name etc) and the files to listen and browse in a jeep hard drive

I made a music playlist on my iTunes, perfectly ordered. I get a car with a USB input to get the songs in the car hard drive, My question is: How can I copy the playlist (with artist, song etc) with the music file (but with the name and artist instead of the file name) in the usb so I can copy it and browse it in my car?

This would require renaming the files on the computer.
iTunes is not going to do this magically when copying files to the flash drive, iTunes does not even copy/sync files to a flash drive.

How do I search for songs and artists within playlists?

In the Itunes music app on the Ipod touch there are several views (Songs, Playlists, Genius, Artists, etc.) In song view if you swipe down it reveals the search bar. However when you go to Playlist view and choose a specific playlist there is no search bar or option anywhere to search for a specific song, artist, genre etc.
So how the heck do we search within playlists, where is the search bar or where is the option to search in a specific playlist?

Top right hand corner of the store is the search bar. Just type it in, and it shows up.

Is it possible to sort playlists by album or artist name?
Currently when I open a playlist in my Ipod it will sort all the numbers by name of the song. Some of my playlists have 200+ songs, and it becomes seriously annoying to find one specific song while there isn't even an artist name beside it.
It would be much more usefull if you open a playlist a subsection would appear in which you can choose the artist or album. Or at least sort the songs in the playlist by artist.
Again. is this possible?

Displaying Playlist on iPod by Artist

does anyone know, if it is possible, to display a playlist on my iPod by Artist. As long as I use iPods, they only show the song titles in the playlists. that's awfull if you use a intelligent playlist (example: for the last 3 months) and you have some albums in it. i want to see the titles in the playlist by artist or by albums not by titles ... i wrote this to apple many times, but still this feature seems not to exist.

Limiting playlists to rated songs per artist

I often want to listen to an album or artist but only the songs I have rated. In iTunes I have a playlist of all rated songs. I type the artist or album name in search for a quick way of limiting the playlist to what I want to hear. My question is, how can I get the same result on the iPod? (without creating playlists for every artist, etc.)

Smart playlist limited to only rated songs. Sort the playlist by artist. Then when you want to play scroll to track you want.
It is cumbersome but there is very limited playlist editing available on the ipod. I have a playlist that only contains songs not played. As I play the tracks drop off the list. Eventually When I have listened to all tracks I will edit playlist to tracks played less than twice. While playing I tend to add ratings. If I get distracted and forget I have another playlist to catch tracks with playcount=1 but not rated.
