Playlists keep disappearing

I have been noticing that all of my playlists (except 'limewire') have mysteriously vanished. The music is still stored on my iPod, but the lists have vanished. This happens after I use my ihome alarm clock. Would it help if I restored my iPod today? I am getting annoyed with this because syncing my iPod to my mac can sometimes take as long as 3 hours (if contacts are synced)! Thanks!

Can you move the playlists to the internal storage and see that helps?
How do I do that without moving all the music too? I don't think I want to keep all my music in the internal storage...
Which reminds me, this may or may not be related, but also since the update, when I plug the phone into the computer, sometimes it won't even see the internal storage. It used to show up as a separate drive like the ext., but hadn't shown up the last few times, so I have no way to access the internal storage from the computer.
PS. I think that was very rude of you to branch that other person's post
just because you didn't like it. They had created another discussion to
ask their question earlier.
1st, I wasn't trying to be rude. I wasn't sure what "branching" actually meant or would do.
2nd, I didn't know if he had started his own thread, so if anything, it seemed I was helping him do so.
3rd, I have helped out in many computer repair forums, and I've seen when someone hijacks a thread with a different question than the original person trying to get help on a specific issue, it can get to point to where nobody is sure who is talking to who. And usually a moderator will then have to remove the secondary questions so the focus can stay on the original posters problem. So... I don't exactly see how I was being rude.

I am missing music I've purchased and my playlists keep disappearing. The folders are there but empty. Need help

Hey Steve, I took it to the icore south africa and they tried that but it didn't work, then they did a complete reset but unfortunately they cannot restore the machine since it keeps restarting every 2 minutes while doing the restore.
They said to me that the machine needs to be replace but they cannot replace it as it was not bought in South Africa. Is there some way or place I can contact in the US that I can ship the item back to and get it fixed or replaced ?

  • Re: Since updating to JellyBean, my playlists keep disappearing!

Hello Ann, I have a razr maxx with jb and am experiencing this problem as well. I also saw a s3 user complaining of it too.
Haven't noticed problems happening with sd mount/unmount, but i had a playlist of songs i had purchased on itunes and 1 song purchased from google play that I downloaded to my phone and added to the playlist later.  In the beginning it was fine, but soon after, the playlist was empty with the exception of the one song from google play.  After this happened, I created a new playlist on my phone adding the same songs and again, a day or 2 later the playlist only had the one song from google play..
Not that I would even use it if i still had my playlists, but I can't even listen to them together through the last added list. When i go to "last added" even though they're all the *most* recently added songs,  its not alphabetical or even by artist, just a list of songs randomly arranged..
Any help would also be appreciated by me, thanks!

  • Why my playlists keep disappearing?

This keep happening ever since I installed iTunes 10 and iOS 5.
Let's say I create a playlist on my iPod Touch 4g; it doesn't show up on iTunes until several weeks later if it shows at all, or in worst case scenario, iTunes erase the playlist after a few days and then it doesn't show up anymore on the iPod or either on iTunes. On the other hand, if I create the playlist directly on iTunes, then my iPod won't recognize it and won't show up. The only playlists I don't have a problem with are those I created prior installation of new iOS and iTunes.
Has anyone elese suffered from this?

Can you move the playlists to the internal storage and see that helps?

I tend to make my playlists right on my ipod. This did not happen for the last 2 years. Just started recently. Did get a new computer recently.

That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.

  • ITunes playlists suddenly disappeared

    Hi
after working well for at least a year (even with Lion 10.7.4) all my playlists suddenly disappeared. I followed advise (from OSX Daily website) and quit iTunes (10.6.1), moved 'iTunes Music Library.xml' and 'iTunes Library.itl' folders to desktop and re-imported and started iTunes again, whereupoon I expected to see my playlists restored, BUT instead this re-import process seemed to automate a completly new duplication of all the mp3 s into the Media folder, as if by some default.
To be clear, I keep all my mp3's in Music / iTunes Music. I think iTunes really wants me to keep my mp3 files in Music / iTunes / iTunes Media / Music as this directory recongnises games and other forms of revenue for Apple but I elected to keep my files seperately and iTunes does say it allows me to do this by duly selecting the path in Preferences / Advanced, and un-check the 'keep Media folder organised' radio button...... and this has worked pretty well ....until two days ago. So what has happened to disturb the peace?
    Grateful for any advice here.

  • My songs on my playlists keep deleting

My phone keeps losing my music. I have several playlists and I start to play the list and see that 20 of the 100 songs act like they haven't yet downloaded. I have even downloaded them repeatedly and they still keep disappearing. I'm ready to scream!! Please someone help! Btw. No one else in my 5 iPhone user family is having this issue. We are all using the same computer when we sync. This doesn't seem connected to when I sync my phone either.

I am having the same problem on the iPhone 4S, although it deletes from my playlists without removing the songs entirely (as far as I can tell, anyways...). I made a new playlist this afternoon, actually, and it had 61 songs in it. I locked it and ran a couple errands. When i woke it up, it acted like an internet page refreshing itself, and told me there were 50 songs in the playlist. There are definitely songs missing, so it's not just telling me a wrong number.

  • IPhone 5S - 1 song keeps disappearing...

So, I have two playlists synced, and on song keeps disappearing from these playlists!?
I keep having to go back to the Store, buy it,(of course it tells me I already bought it and it asks if I want to download it again, i do), and then by the next morning it's gone again! This happens with 1 song. Everything else is still there.
    Thoughts?
    Thank you.

Did you restore from backup, or as a new device?  Restoring from backup just restores the same corrupt software back to the phone.  Restore as a new device and don't use any backup at all.

Memory on my macbook air keeps disappearing.  I have 120 gigs and I am down to 150mb without adding any files.

Thanks...I have tried the various options and the only item of interest is that my only account on this computer says it has 102 gig of memory used up.  However, when I open and look at the individual files, they add up to less than 15 gigs.

  • Final cut wont open and keeps disappearing while loading

Since friday, I am trying to open final cut and wont let me, it disappears as soon as it starts loading. I restarted the mac so many times and I have reinstalled final cut and nothing. keeps disappearing.
    any thoughts?

Before the long winded uninstall / reinstall hoopla, did you just try trashing your preferences? Might be all you need. You can do it manually of course but the free Preference Manager tool from Digital Rebellion handles it easily plus allows you to create preference set backups and more : http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm

  • I have OSX 10.5.8 and I keep installing FireFox, but it keep disappearing. When I try to download the newest version, my software isn't compatible because I DON"T have the intel "chip. What can I do to reinstall an older version of Firefox?

Firefox not only disappears from my dock but also from my Applications folder. I tried to downl0ad it again today (5/19/2011), however, it says my system isn't compatible because I don't have an Intel processor. Any suggestions. I have problems with Safari and like to use Firefox but can't if it keeps disappearing and then Mozilla tells me that I can't install after I have already downloaded the application.

For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version that runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8 (PowerPC) you can look at:

  • ICal Tasks/To Do Items Keep Disappearing, plus search function doesn't work

Ever since I upgraded my Mobile Me calendars about two or three weeks ago, which as I understand makes my calendars now LIVE on the Mobile Me cloud instead of directly on my computers, I have had nothing but trouble with iCal. I use Bento with iCal for my project management system — I use the iCal Tasks for my basic information, and I added extra fields in Bento for other details I like to track. Anyway, the upgrade completely unhinged where those two came together so that the basic information that Bento was getting from iCal no longer matched with the extra details.
But that's no longer my problem. I fixed that easily by completely changing the way I track things now — I did away with the extra fields and decided to have Bento work directly and only with the information in my iCal app.
Still, another problem came up, the one I need an answer to. New tasks I entered through Bento, wouldn't KEEP on iCal. They'd show up momentarily, but a day or two later, they would be gone.
I thought I fixed it a few days ago when I discovered that Time Zone Support wasn't checked on iCal. I made sure it was checked on all my computers AND on Mobile Me because I suspected that Tasks were disappearing every time my computers synced with Mobile Me. It seemed to work fine after making sure everything supported time zones. I even synced a few times, just to test it, checked all calendars at all places, and whatever Tasks or To Do Items I added from within Bento appeared to sync fine, appear at all the proper places, at all instances of the calendars, AND stay put.
BUT I just discovered tonight, that the new Tasks I entered in the last week for one of my calendars have ONCE AGAIN disappeared. For some reason, though, the new tasks I entered for another one of my calendars managed to stay put. I have no idea why one calendar was affected and another wasn't.
The point is, I can't for the life of me figure out why my newly entered Tasks keep disappearing. Is it an iCal thing? Is it Mobile Me? Is it because I am entering the tasks/to do items from within Bento? What?
And the icing on the cake? The search function on the iCal app on one of my computers no longer works. I will search for a task/to do item that I KNOW is there and can actually see on the side bar, but it will not pop up in the search results. I searched online about how to fix that, but none of the fixes work — many of them, I believe, are outdated and so can't work in my case.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix these issues?

with iTunes and the apple.com web site, you don't hit
the Magnifing glass, after typing out what your
searching for, you hit enter on the keyboard. The mag
glass (Atleast in windows) is just for decor showing
you its a search field, its not an actual button like
it would be in most Microsoft/Windows apps
Thanks. I thought the magnifying glass was a clickable icon.

  • Notes in iCal keep disappearing since Yosemite

My notes on my recurring calendar events keep disappearing.  I have tried adding them through iCloud.com and that will work for a couple of days and then they will disappear. This happens when I add notes via my MacPro, Macbook Pro or iPhone.  I can't find anything related while searching the discussions in the last couple of years.

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing your iPad.  I recommend reviewing the following article specifically the section titled "Authorize using the correct account name."
