Playlists missing from ipod

I updated my ipod, and now all of my playlists are gone from the ipod....even the factory installed ones. My library is intact, but where are my playlists?

Hello Dbreeze,
You have "landed" in the iSight section of forums, as opposed to the
iPod & Windows
Section.
Try in there Dbreeze. I am sure some one will know more about iPods and Windows in there.
Good luck

  • All playlists missing from iPod Touch?

Hi there. In need of help with a bit of a frustrating issue.
Currently on my iPod Touch, all of my playlists are missing. They're available on my iTunes and on my iPod nano, but not on my iPod touch. This happened before and I reset my iPod which temporarily fixed the issue but during my last sync it went missing again. Everything is up to date and my sync settings are set to sync everything.
    Help?

Are these playlists configured to sync to your device from under its Music configuration tab in iTunes?  To access this tab, plug your iPod and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  You should be under the Summary tab when you look to the right in the main window.  Locate the Music tab along the top and select it.
If you make any changes from under this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the updated changes to your device.

  • All songs and playlists missing from iPod

I have a 20GB iPod with the click wheel. It is not showing any of the music I have loaded on it, but when I look under "About", it says that the capacity = 18.5 GB, available = 150MB, which would seem to indicate there is data on the device. When I plug it into my computer for iTunes, I get a message saying that it can't find the music. I believe its happened before, but just 'fixed' itself. I have tried the reset (menu + middle) thing. No luck. PLEASE HELP . . . SO DESPERATE!

    Hi people!
I think to have the same problem. Yesterday i have plug my iPod into my computer (Windows XP) and iTunes can't show me the songs (but all songs were fisically in the path music!!) I read also a message in the traybar such this " \iPod_Control\Device\Sysinfo is corrupt or unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility."
Well I say me.. CALM! So I tried to restore my ipod using itunes tool (with version 7.1) and all problems was vanished.
so i have restored some songs into the ipod.
All ok.. Till this evening: iTunes can't see some of the songs uploaded yesterday! Why?
Some songs had this problem: when i would play "The Show Must go on" the ipod play other sogn but the title on display is correct! Now i tried to update itunes to 7.3 version, and after some attemp of plug/unplug the ipod from the computer i don't see the problem yet.
    what is happened?
Sorry for my english guys, i come from Rome! Thank you in advance

  • How do I restore playlist folders from iPod classic to iTunes? The library is intact, but the playlists are not and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch!

After reformatting my HD and reimporting all songs back into iTunes succesfully, the playlist folders are gone and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch. How do I restore playlists from iPod classic to iTunes 11.1.3 without resorting to 3rd party options?

I actually tried that in "my computer" by renaming the drive and then got this:
    g-raid (F:) (H:)
then after reading your reply realized I should try renaming it in "disk management" and hey! it worked.
Thanks a lot for the advice.
Now I don't understand why my back-up drive isn't automatically adding the files when I import into the Ex-HD but I'll figuree it out.

  • Artists missing from Ipod

Artists that are in my computer Itunes library are missing on my Ipod after synching. Songs are all there under the Ipod Songs tab listing the Artist but under the Artists tab the Artist is gone.

There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is incorrectly marked as part of a compilation (and you have Compilations enabled on the iPod) or 2) the song has no album name associated with it.
if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. If you are using iTunes 8 and view the multiple items info box the compilations setting is in the "Options" tab. Setting "Compilations" on your iPod main menu prevents you getting lots of single artist entries when you load an album by various artists.
Also if the tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances (for instance I read somewhere that if you have at least two tracks with different album names the rest will appear), however the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod

  • Items Listed In Library, But Missing From iPod/Hard Drive of Computer

I recently had my latest disaster with iTunes wiping out the content of my iPod. I hooked up the iPod to the computer to charge and to add on a few more items. When it updated, it started from scratch and updated some 1700 items or so directly from my computer hard drive into the iPod, as if they had never been on the iPod in the first place. Further, there are still something like 2000 more items that were on the iPod before this, but now are missing from its list. These items are songs that are no longer on my computer's hard drive. These items are still listed in the iTunes library, however.
What do I do to get these items accessible again on the iPod itself? Whatever I have tried so far with updating does not do anything but have the iPod/iTunes deal with the items that are still on my hard drive of the computer. How can I get the full listing of 3700 items to play on the iPod again? Or do I have to start from scratch (this will be the third time I will have to do this if so) and reload all those hundreds of CDs back into the iPod manually?
Thank you for any advice you may be able to provide!

Were any of those exception edited with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements? If so and you can identify them, download the "Embed sRGB Profile" application from Toad's Cellar, unzip it and place on the desktop. Then take those files and drop onto the application. After the profile is embedded in the files try importing them again.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Reinstalled Operating System - transfer playlists, etc from ipod to PC?

I've recently reverted back from Vista to XP and in the process wiped out my library, playlists, etc. Thankfully all my tunes were on my external, but all the data including playlists are gone. Is there a way to transfer the playlists from my ipod to my newly installed itunes folder/library? I'd hate to lose all i've put together.
    p.s. windows vista __s!

For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Music missing from ipod?

for some reason my ipod would not play and just keep running from one song to the next.i connected to computer to update and now all my songs are missing from the ipod and nothing i try puts is back.i have removed and put everything back, latest update, restore back to the begining still my ipod is blank.need help on what to do next.thanks loraine

i do normally auto update, and there is some music in itunes that I have moved around or deleted, more specifically, itunes cannot find it-however the music HAS stayed on my ipod!! do you know why this is?
    Not really sure.
Have you tried a Reset on the iPod?
If it keeps happening (and you don't want it to, you may have to Restore.)
should I just uncheck all the old music that I have deleted, then only update the checked stuff? (just to keep it organized?)
How are you deleting the music? Directly from the folder or are you using iTunes to delete it?
If you use iTunes, it will not be in iTunes to check or uncheck. I recommend you use iTunes to manage your music, then you don't have to worry abou twhere it is stored or what it is named, etc.

  • Playlists missing from iOS device after signing out from iTunes Match

    Hi, everyone!
I've just signing up to iTunes Match service and after I went Settings > iTunes and App Stores menu and disabling iTunes Match, all of my iOS playlists synced from computer are missing, just the tracks I've wirely synced from my Mac computer are there.
Can anyone have a tip to solve this? I'm kind of disappointed with the service because musics in the cloud take long time to stream to my iOS.

I have found that scrolling through the album list (past albums without art) triggers the progress wheel next to the wifi symbol. You can scroll quickly through the whole collection and then wait! Artwork will appear gradually...
However, repeat visits to the Music App might initially show no artwork again, but it might spontaneously appear more quickly this time. The bad news is that the whole Music App is now sluggish as ****...

  • On-The-Go Playlists Disappearing from iPod 5.5 gen in iTunes 8

After upgrading to iTunes 8, whenever I sync my iPod video (5.5 gen, 30 gb) any On-The-Go playlists I've made since I last synced just disappear! Even when I choose "Save Playlist" on my iPod (which makes them appear as New Playlist 1, 2, etc. on my iPod), connecting my iPod immediately erases the playlists. Also, the first time I synced my iPod with iTunes 8, it erased more than half of my existing On-The-Gos--for some reason, it erased OTG 1 through 14, kept OTG 15 through 21, and erased everything higher than that. I have no idea why it only chose to spare OTG's 15 through 21 and kill off the rest, but alas, it did.
I really would rather avoid having to restore my iPod. I did uninstall iTunes 8 and reinstall 7 just to see if my playlists were recoverable somehow, but no dice. I use On-The-Go playlists all the time, so I'm pretty bummed and frustrated about this.
Can anyone share some insight as to why this could be happening? I'm not having any other issues with my iPod, and like I said, I would really prefer not to have to restore my iPod, as last time I did that about 10% of my song information got totally scrambled in the process, so I'm saving that as a last resort.
Help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds as if you are right-clicking the playlist under the name of your iPod in the devices section of iTunes (as you cannot eject a playlist, only a device). Whatever is highlighted in the left-hand source list in iTunes is what you are accessing, so if you are under devices you are looking at the content on the iPod, not what is in iTunes.
To delete a playlist, make sure you are right-clicking the playlist under the playlist section of iTunes, to re-name a playlist you would select the playlist (by clicking on the name just once) in the left-hand source list under playlists, then click on the name of the playlist again (just once, double-clicking will open the playlist in a new window) and it will turn into a textbox in which you can edit/change the name. The name of a on-the-go playlist can only be changed in iTunes, and the name will automatically update on the iPod the next time you sync.

  • All music missing from ipod... Pls help!

    Hi,
So i listened to my ipod on the way to work, connected it via UBS to my laptop for charging as normal. On the way home.. NO MUSIC!!!
When I connect to itunes now, itunes say it can't recognise the ipod and tells me to restore factory settings.
I have less than a third of what was on my ipod in my itunes because they changed my hardrive months ago and didn't back up my music so it was lost from itunes.
my Ipod settings say I have Capacity 27.8Gb and Available 16.8GB. So this tells me that my music is still in my ipod.. but I can't see it and all menus say there is nothing in there!! I'm going mad. I had over 3000 songs and it'll be a nightmare to upload all my cd's again which is why i don't want to restore the factory settings.
Anyone else had this problem and managed to get their music back???
Please say yes and let me know how I can resolve this.
    Many thanks,
    D

  • Whole albums missing from ipod touch (current gen) after latest sync with mac air...

Any ideas why? All that is different to previous times is the ipod is on ios7.
What i had done was delete a few albums i didnt listen ever, just cleaning up. Connnected to ipod as i assume it would clear the albums off of that too (i sync my WHOLE music collection as can fit it on 64gb ipod) but albums i did not delete are now missing.
Guess i'm heading for 'reset ipod' and start over as new?
    Thanks.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Secondly since i am going to be formatting the PC i am also going to be loosing the IPod Installer and Updater versions on my control panel .. pls advice where in can download the same and install and if i install wont my Ipod Reinstall or reformat ..
    Windows XP
      Windows XP

If you haven't already done so, change the update setting for your iPod to manual. If you are using the iPod in manual update mode, your iPod is safe from being accidentally erased when you connect to an empty iTunes after reinstalling your operating system. However if your iPod is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
After you have your PC sorted out, there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
