Playlists not in acsending order anymore??

I always prefer to have my playlists sorted in the order where my most common used one (namely new songs for workout) sitting at the top. Have been doing so with my previous iPod Nano by adding a number prefix to the name. Even I'm synchronizing my iPods with the same machine, this ordering system doesn't work anymore with my new 6th generation (but still ok with the older ones).
Any one has any idea?
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. But what I meant is the way the playlists are displayed, not the songs within a playlist. While in iTunes, the playlists will have the folders displayed at the top of the list, then the smart playlists, & lastly the "manual" playlists.
The strange thing is when synchronizing all my iPods with the same iMac using iTunes 10, all the older generations will have the playlists displayed in ascending order regardless of the type of playlists (folder, smart or whatever). This is the way I'd like my playlists to show up & I can easily manage their order by using a numeric prefix in the playlist names.
But with my new iPod Nano 6th generation, it shows the exact ordering as in iTunes with the folders at the top of the list, then smart playlists & then the rest.
Any idea? Or is there any special setting in the new iPod nano I've missed?
Thanks in advance.

  • SONGS WILL NOT LOAD IN ORDER ANYMORE

been meaning to ask this for a while...
a few versions of itunes ago, i'd drag mp3's from a folder on the desktop, into an itunes playlist, and they would all load in in the same order they were in the folder.
then, after upgrading to a new version of itunes, they would all load correctly, except song 1 would always be at the end...
so the songs would be say...
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    1
then, recently, after upgrading to the latest itunes, the songs just shuffle completely randomly...
    like, say...
    4
    2
    3
    1
    6
    5
    which is quite frustrating.
any idea what is going on?
at the top of the playlist window, i have the upwards arrow chosen to arrange songs in the proper order (ie: they are not being arranged alphabetically, etc).
    thanks!

    figured it out..
    needed to sort by "ALBUM"...
    phew!

  • Smart playlists not in numerical order

Hey, I am having problems getting some of my Smart Playlists in numerical order. Here is an image to help describe my problem; so I want to be able to numerically list the highlighted section in order starting from 1a. I have spent ages trying to figure it out but have had no luck! Anyone know how to do this?
    Many thanks.

Pad out 1 to 9 with leading zeros...
    01
    02
    09
    10
    11
    etc.
if there are more than 99 you'd pad everything to 3 digits.

  • Why are my playlists not in the order I wanted on the shuffle?  Shuffle is not on.  I don't want to hear Werewolves of London right after Domine ad adjuvandam.

I have created my playlists. They are scrambled on the iPod.  I see the Music list is where the scrambling occurs. How do I get that off?

I haven't synced in a few months, I tried recently and all my video playlists that play fine in itunes do not even show up for me to check off to sync when i connect my ipod. The individual video files show up under the movies tab but why can I no longer sync my organized video playlist?

    Have you sent Apple feedback?

  • How can i organise my tunes in order of ***most recently added to playlist***. Playlist, NOT library!

    Hi everyone,
this is my first ever post on a dicusion board so lets see...
i would like to know how to, if it is possible... to organise my songs of a playlist to show my most recently added songs (to my playlist, not library) at the top and so on.
all of my music has been on the mac for a while so it orders is on date added to LIRBRARY and not when i added it to my playlist.
i want to see my recently added songs of my playlist first.
is this possible and if so can someone help me please!
    Thanks
    Mez

    Hi Mez,
Are you talking about a regular playlist, not a smart playlist?
If you drag a song to playlist to add it, the song will be added at the end of the list.
So to reverse the order and have the most recently added song first, just select the playlist and display it in list view. Click the triangle in the header row of the leftmost column showing the numbers and revert the play order.
    have fun

  • Smart playlists are not in alphabetical order on iOS 5.1 devices

One of the most frustrating things for me about iTunes Match is the fact that the smart playlists in iTunes (version 10.6) do not sync in alphabetical order on my iPad/iPhone running iOS 5.1.
Even though I click on the Name column and the songs in iTunes appear in alphabetical order, the songs appear in a random order on the iPad. I spent hours trying to fix this by turning iTunes Match off on my iPad, turning it on etc all to no avail. I created new smart playlists thinking that maybe the original smart playlists were corrupted in some way by the upgrade to the latest version of iTunes. This did not work either.
Then, I had an idea. I created a new playlist (not a smart one), called it Test Alpha, copied the songs from the smart playlist into it and waited for my iPad to update.
Voila! The songs in this new, non-smart playlist are in alphabetical order.
I do hope that this problem is fixed. It is a pain to do this for the 15 odd smart playlist I have. Hope this helps someone else.

No. And the problem persists in iOS 6 with the latest version of iTunes.
For three weeks, I had been talking on and off with a techie in Singapore. She got me to run all these test, send screen shots etc..
In the end, I was told that the engineers said 'that is how it's supposed to be'. Well, thank you very much. No help at all. No further discussion about the issue ensued.
Apple's arrogance will soon be the cause of its share price collapsing. My solution? I have not renewed my subscription to iTunes Match.

  • Playlist songs not playing in order

All of my playlists are no longer playing songs in order. I don't think I hit shuffle. I deleted the music from the iPhone and synced them all again, but still not playing in order. The songs are in the correct order in iTunes. Any thoughts?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was having the same problem and just found an answer in these forums.
You have to be playing a track (song or podcast) in the playlist to make the change. Tap on the album art to bring up the scrubber bar. Then tap on the shuffle icon on the right side to turn off shuffle.
Seems to work for me so far.

  • TS1436 Burn does not go in order of playlist

I have created a playlist to burn to a CD....it does not burn in order.  What is wrong:

Which player? My Nomad Jukebox plays alphabetically if I just select an artist, but if I open an artist and select an album, it's by album order.

  • Music playlists do not play in order

Music playlists do not play in order. How do turn off that function and get playlists to play in order?

In the Music app in iOS6, white is still off, but on is orange, for both the shuffle function and the repeat function.  As before, the repeat widget is a three-state toggle, with two on states - a plain racetrack for repeating the album or playlist, or a racetrack with a smaller circle containing a "1" superimposed on it for repeating a single track.
I don't know what happens if both suffle and repeat are on, maybe it creates a hole in space-time.
By the way, I tapped on the artwork many times before the additional song controls appeared.

  • Smart playlist "copy to play order" not working?

I have a smart list that selects classical music pieces based on two separate criteria ("choose with words "###" or "***" in the comments into the playlist), and puts them in the playlist.
But even if the play order is displayed correctly in iTunes, once it loads onto my iPods (4th Gen Touch, and iPod Photo), the play order is randomized.
This may be tolerable with rock music, but in classical music when several movements must be played in order, it poses  a major problem.
I have re-ordered it using "Album by Title", verfied the play order in iTunes and then have chosen "Copy to Play Order".  then I sync to my iPods, but in iPod the playlist is out of order (whatever order Smart Playlist chose.. which seems rather random).
The only way to work around so far, is to create a standard playlist with a different name, and copy the contents of the Smart Playlist, order it correctly, and then chose "copy to Play Order".  But this sort of defeats the Smart Playlist...
Is there a bug?  or am I not understanding how "Copy to Play Order" works?
    I'm using 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.6.1.

What is going on here. I don't have this problem with my 3rd generation Nano (the square one with the clickwheel), but I do with the 6th gen (the square one with the touchscreen).

  • Why is my playlist not updating as i type in the search window anymore?

why is my playlist not updating to reflect what i type on the search window anymore? just searches in the same window as you type i want it to reflect and show location on my plylist instead as it did before.

I have code within the FLA, but I am also using .as files (with classes and such). The code does not update when I try to use it, or will not run. Currently I am getting 4 errors, all of which were related to syntax and have been fixed. I know this because I hit the check mark button at the top of code field and it confirmed that all syntax is okay. I believe the error may be due to a lack of understanding on my part regarding the source path and document classes.
For example: I am using the code found here: http://www.learningactionscript3.com/download/45/ in the particle_system folder. My .as files and SWF are set up exactly the same as theirs, the example, but I can run theirs without error and mine with a perpetual 4 errors at runtime no matter how I fix it. I have made sure that the source path leads to the .as files being used ("Particle" and "ParticleDemo"), and confirmed that it should work by hitting the check mark next to the Document Class under Advanced ActionScript 3.0 Settings.
Edit: So in short, yes, I run the SWF and my code not update. If I close out of Flash and open it up again with the same SWF and .as files, then it works. However, this is an extremely inefficient thing to do. I am thinking that maybe downgrading down to CS5 may do the trick, but not sure if it's worth the time.

  • Playlists not retaining order

My playlists are not retaining their order when being synced with iTunes Match. Is there a fix to this?

I have several playlists just for working out, sorted ascending on BPM.  But that order goes out the window with my new iTunes Match account (which I otherwise LOVE).  I need the playlist to stay in the order I put them on my Mac, since I have no useful way to sort them on my iPhone or iPad.  What can I do?  It seems others have been having this type of problem for a while.  Does anyone have any info/suggestions?  Thanks!
