Playlists, songs not displaying on nano

I am unable to see any new playlist or song in my iPod nano.
I just purchased a 4GB black nano, installed iTunes 5.01.
To try it out, I purchased 1 album and 3 individual songs. iTunes created a playlist called "Purchased". All songs were downloaded and put into this playlist.
I have tried both option setting to auto and manual updates. I can see my iPod and everything as it should be from iTunes but when I browse the iPod nothing shows up.
I have restored factory settings and tried again.. Still nothing shows up despite I can see it in iTunes.

Hah! I figured it out. I had a virtual drive mapped to d: (from the subst command in my startup). I removed the mapped drive and all was well.
I had a hint that this was the problem from another thread.
I wish it could have at least given me an error message that would have given me a clue..
Anyhow, problem solved and everything is working great!

  • IPod playlists do not display new songs added alphabetically

I find that if I add new songs to my iTunes and then add them to an existing playlist in my iPod, the new songs are displayed alphabetically by artist in iTunes (the way I prefer it), but when I disconnect the iPod and explore the playlist on the iPod the new songs have been added at the end of the listed songs in the playlist - not alphabetically... this is driving me crazy. To play a new song I then have to scroll not to the artist where he/she is listed alphabetically in the playlist, but all the way to the end, where a random collection of songs have by now accumulated. (I know most people create their playlists to play songs in a specific order, not by artist, but I have my iPod permanently on shuffle, so I prefer being able to find a song/artist easily)
The only solution I have found is to restore the iPod to factory settings, deleting everything in the process, and then adding all the content to the iPod from scratch, after which both the old and the new songs are listed alphabetically by artist. This is just way too cumbersome - I'm sure there is probably a very simple setting somewhere ("sort playlist by artist"?), I just can't find it. I have tried sorting the playlist by artist on the iPod itself while connected to iTunes and then syncing - no use.
I have read the iPod nano user guide, but found no help...

Thanks for the link - it didn't help for my specific problem, but I learned some other useful things! After I read it I tried everything I had tried previously, and this time it actually worked. This is probably a part of the Great Continued Computer Mystery... why something functions one day and doesn't the next.

  • Make so coverflow has playlist songs not all songs

How do i make it so that when i tilt my ipod touch to the side and coverflow comes up the songs are the songs from my playlist not just all my songs.
When i click music, playlist and then my first playlist then my first songs then tilt it so its in coverflow i scroll through it has got other songs from different playlists. is it possible to go to my first playlist then first songs and go into coverflow mode and only have songs from that playlist and then if i go to the other playlist and go into coverflow mode then all the songs from that playlist are there but the songs from the 1st playlist are not??? PLEASE HELP

I experience this problem as well (iOS 4.2.1). Whenever I try to use coverflow to view the albums in my smartplaylist, album art from every album on my ipod touch is displayed! This makes browsing through my smartplaylist a frustrating experience.

  • Not all playlist songs not syncing

Im having an issue where once my iPhone sync'd fine but now its not displaying massive amounts of songs out.
For example, I could have a playlist of say 20 songs but on my iPhone it will only display 10 (not necessarily 10 consecutive songs either)
The weird part though is that in iTunes it says that all the songs have gone on fine, and a spotlight search does bring up the missing song(s).
Anyone have experience with this issue?

I have the iPhone 4, and I have the same issue. I try and sync a playlist that I made on my phone, or even created in iTunes, but only about half of it syncs. If the playlist has 78 songs, only about 47 sync. Even as soon as I edit it, the sync process erases all of the changes I made

  • Smart playlists do not display in same sort order as host iTunes library

    Hello,
I subscribe to about 100 podcasts, in 3 different categories (lets say News, Tech, Photography) and a few of them across all areas are video.
I am looking for a way to better manage these
I create a couple of smart playlists and
    Smart Playlist one:  News
Inclusion by Album Name or Artist name, etc
         Sorted by Most Recently Added
    Smart Playlist two:  News unplayed
Inclusion:  Above Smart Playlist + views = 0
         Sort by Most Recently Added
    ..etc..
[I have to have 3 sets of these, plus another one that goes across all 3 and has a Video not Audio type selection]
Now when I use my Apple TV to connect to my iTunes library and display the Smart Playlist above, it displays in a different order than I see on my iTunes library in the host computer.
    Questions are:
    1. Any better way to manage my podcast subscriptions?
    2. Any better way to then view on the Apple TV?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. This worked but it doesnt seem to be consistent.. not sure if the fact that I have a smart playlist based on another smart playlist (only because I want 5 anded conditions + 1 or'd which is playcount=0) and hence something goes wrong?
Any better way overall to manage these?  I now have 4 pairs of these.
Also, any way to have a Smart Playlist that selects only video?  They have the Media Kind = Podcast, but no Media Type = Video..
    Many thanks,
    Vik

  • Songs not displaying

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I have an ipod photo which keeps not displaying any of my songs. When I try to access songs/albums/artists etc it comes up blank. The data has not been wiped off the hard disk as the capacity and the amount of disk space used up corresponds to my iPod library. The problem is easily solved by plugging my iPod in to update. After it has updated any new songs all the others appear on screen as normal however this only lasts for a few uses before the whole process starts again. Has this happened to anyone else? I'd be grateful if anybody could advise me on what the problem is and how I can solve it. Thanks

Ok, so i just bought a 30GB iPod video, and when i put my music on it, everything worked fine. but when i go to certain bands, it skips the "albums" screen and automatically goes to the first album on the list. i know i have the songs, because i did a search on the iPod and the songs are there and they play, but they still don't appear when going from the "artists" screen, to the "albums" screen. what should i do?

  • Playlists do not display 0n screen

When nano is in docking station, it plays music, but I can't display artists or music titles. Was there something i missed when setting up the nano with my pc?

  • Playlists songs not the same in iTunes-iPod Touch (most often played)

I have created some smart playlists based on "most often played" or "most recently played", and the thing is than on iTunes, the playlists' content is correct but when I open the playlist on the iPod Touch, the songs that show up are not the ones supposed to. I tried changing the "most" recently played to "least" recently played, and it worked for the iPod Touch in the way that know I can have the MOST RECENTLY PLAYED songs but actually I'm using the "least recently played" criteria so in iTunes is all the other way around, it really shows the LEAST RECENTLY PLAYED!! What can I do to fix this??? Thank you very much.

There is a 3rd option (besides disabling live updates, or sorting things in reverse): construct a similar 'smart' playlist without using the 'select by' rule. So, for example, if you usually pick the '50 most recently played', create a list of 'played within the past 5 days'. Or instead of the '50 least recently played', try 'last played more than 3 months ago'.
These alternative playlists won't be limited to a fixed size, but they can accomplish similar goals, and they avoid the bug.
Whether this solution is better (or worse) than reverse-sorted playlists depends on your preferences. For me, this works reasonably well (and the lists appear the same in iTunes and on the Touch).

  • Playlist songs not playing in order

All of my playlists are no longer playing songs in order. I don't think I hit shuffle. I deleted the music from the iPhone and synced them all again, but still not playing in order. The songs are in the correct order in iTunes. Any thoughts?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was having the same problem and just found an answer in these forums.
You have to be playing a track (song or podcast) in the playlist to make the change. Tap on the album art to bring up the scrubber bar. Then tap on the shuffle icon on the right side to turn off shuffle.
Seems to work for me so far.

  • Lyrics not displaying on nano

I am trying to see lyrics on my nano. Is it possible to see lyrics? From research I have done it seems like I should be able to see it if I have lyrics on Itunes and then playing song on nano then clicking center button and keep going and lyrics should come up. I have the lyrics on iTunes. Then I go to song>center button says the name of the song>then I have genius thing come up. >Then rating and then I have shuffle symbol and song and album thing come up. I don't see any lyrics. I have iTunes 10.0.0 version and my software on Nano says up to date. I would love to see the lyrics.
    Thanks

Is it possible to see lyrics?
    Yes
Go onto Itunes - Select the song you want to add lyrics to - right click it - click 'Get Info' - go to the 'Lyrics' tab - then find lyrics online and copy and paste them into there (if have not previously done so).
Click OK, and then sync your iPod and it should be done.
Full instructions are also in the iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual starting with Chapter 2 pg 21 and Chapter 3 pg 37

  • My music playlists are not displayed, all I have are album covers, how do I display my playlists?

Wife's iPad2, she wants the playlists displayed, not the album covers.......

You need to have a different Apple ID for each of the other devices.

  • Under the music tab... songs not displaying correctly

so i just got a new 60 gb ipod video... got home loaded the necessary software and loaded the songs to the ipod. videos, pictures, and songs are all diplaying. with one small problem. when you go into the music tab, instead of seperating it into the selected catagories (i.e. artist, albums, and songs) it is just showing the titles of the songs in all catagories. i've reset it, restored factory defaults, cleared my entire music library out of itunes, then pulled it back in and nothing seems to be working. can someone please help me?????

    i'm talking about the ipod.
    this is what i'm getting
under the music heading on the ipod there are 8 catagories:
    1 playlists
    2 artists
    3 albums
    4 songs
    5 pocasts
    6 genres
    7 composers
    8 audiobooks
all of them are showing the songs correctly except 2 and 3.
2 and 3 are showing the song titles like it does in 4.
i can't get it to seperate all the songs by artists or albums.
does that make any more sense???

  • All songs not displaying

I am using itunes 7.02 on my PC. My laptop has itunes 6.05. When I do a power search in the music store for example Johnny Mathis on my PC (itunes 7.02) I see only 4 songs. When i searh for Johnny Mathis on my laptop (itunes 6.05) I see many many songs. What can I do for itunes 7.02 so that I can see more songs. Also the billboard does not diaply on itunes 7.02, HELP PLEASE!

See: Some songs don't don't show under artist on my iPod.
From what I understand (thanks to forum member PT for this), once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.

  • My list of songs not displaying

When I bring up itunes it not listing my purchased songs.  With this new itunes software apple changed the format and I can't seem to figure it out.  I know it has to be easy but I'm at a loss.  Thanks for your help.

With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC. When the iPad is plugged in it should then appear on that left-hand sidebar under 'Devices' so that you can select it, and then use the tabs on the right-hand side of the screen to select what to sync to it.

  • ITunes Playlist not displayed

    Hi,
I'm running OS X 10.9.2 and iTunes 11.2.2 and out of the blue, my iTunes Playlists are not displaying/ not visible in the left pane under "Playlists".  It's as if I have no playlists anymore.  If I attempt to create a new playlist, nothing new is visible (i.e. the Playlist pane still appears empty).  However, all of my music is still viewable and playable.  In fact, if I play a song, I may click on its arrow and add it to any of my 20 or so playlists.  So they are all visible from the drop down menu on any song that's playing.
Just now, I attempted to restore an older "iTunes Music library" file (.itl) by trashing the current one and replacing it with one from my previous "iTunes Libraries" folder.  I restarted iTunes (holding down the option key), selected the previous version library and still the Playlists will not display.
    Please help.

Problem solved.  I rebuilt my library once more and it came back!
