Playlists synced to iPhone not in proper sequence

A few playlists that I have in iTunes get rearranged when synced to my iPhone 4. They stay correct in iTunes where they are in album sequence but in my phone they are alphabetized. How do I get them to sync correctly?

Am I the only one this is happening to? It continues to sync playlists in reverse order on both my iPhone 4 and iPod 80 gb. I can go in to the phone when connected and manual sort the songs but they go bad again on the next sync.

Hi, When I try to sync my iphone not all the music in my itunes library syncs successfuly even though I have a lot of space left and I have the 'sync all music' option selected. Any idea? Thanks

While you're correct in that Windows media won't sync to the iPhone (or any i-device), the OP states that all the music is in iTunes.  If its in iTunes, it would no longer be in Windows media format since it would have been transcoded to whatever the user sets as their import preference (AAC, mp3, etc.), and once that is done then the media should be able to sync to the iPhone just fine.
To Steph, do the missing songs play OK in iTunes? If not then they could be corrupted in some way.  If they play fine in iTunes but don't sync, are they unchecked in iTunes? They won't sync to your iPhone if it is set to ignore unchecked items.  Finally, if these are iTunes purchases, are they protected format? (i.e. m4p files)  If so, is your computer authorized to play them? (you'd know if you try to play them in iTunes, it would prompt you for the account password if not authorized)

  • Playlists made on iphone not saving when phone synced to itunes

I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem or knew how to fix it; When i'm on the run i'll buy songs from itunes or i'll edit playlists on my iphone for easier use while i'm driving, but when I sync my iphone onto my macbook to transfer new songs, it gets rid of the editing I've done and I have to go back and do it all over again. Is there a reason why my playlists wont keep? Its kind of a pain to have to keep re-doing them over and over.

Do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, or are you manually managing music and video with your iPhone?
If the former, after downloading a song with your iPhone the song should be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. If you are doing the latter instead, it wont. Manually means manually.

  • Ipad notes not syncing with iphone notes

My iphone 4 and ipad 3 arent syncing their notes, even though ive checked the iCloud & mail, contacts, calendars settings on both devices and they are set up the same. The only difference i can see is the iphone notes has a button on the top left corner called Accounts, which the ipad doesnt.
It seems that they used to sync as some of the old notes on the ipad are from my iphone but they no longer sync and its really starting to bug me

Of all the discussions I read on this topic—including the official notes from Apple—I found this thread to be the most instructive on how syncing occurs between an iPhone and iPad, as well as why syncing seems to fail. I came here because my iPhone 4 had 39 Notes but my iPad had only 28, and I could not figure out why syncing was not occuring.
What I learned here—thank you very much—that I did not find was made clear enough elsewhere is that syncing only occurs when both the default email accounts to which the Note is sent is the same on both devices, namely the iCloud account. If there is a mismatch, as was occurring on my iPhone, then syncing will not succeed simply because the iPhone is not sending the Note to the iCloud account which the iPad is associated with.
In other words, an iPhone user can inadvertently have an email account other than the iCloud account designated as the "default" account associated with the Notes application on the iPhone, thus guaranteeing that the Note will not be sent to the iCloud account, thus causing syncing betweent the two devices to fail.
In my case, when I clicked on the Accounts button in the Notes app on my iPhone 4, I discovered three items: (1) All Notes.(2) The Name of an AOL email account. (3) iCloud. When I clicked on the arrow for All Notes, I saw all 39 Notes. When I clicked on the arrow for iCloud, I saw only 28 Notes. And when I clicked on the arrow for the AOL account, I found the 11 Notes that I had created on the iPhone that did not get synced to the iPad.
When I examined the Settings for the Notes app, I then discoved that my AOL had been checked off as the "Default Account." This incorrect selection was the cause of the whole problem! In order for Notes created on my iPhone to be sent to the cloud for subsequent syncing with my iPad and my Mac(s), I had to change that Default Account setting to my iCloud account.
As far as getting those missing 11 Notes to appear on the iPad so that all Notes on all devices would be in sync, I did a copy and paste job using the DiskAid application from DigiDNA, an application that allows you to transfer files and other data between your Mac and iOS devices. Using DiskAid, I simply viewed the contents of each Note, selected all the text, copied it, and pasted it in a new Note that I created in Safari while connected to my iCloud.com account. I suppose that one could do a copy and paste operation within the Notes app itself, by creating new Notes within it and copying the content of the Notes that were created in the non-iCloud account, before deleting those old, redundant Notes. But I found using DiskAid to be more elegant.
The thought of using a Windows application to bring my Notes up to date was never a temptation. You can get the job done entirely within the Mac environment. While DiskAid and its companion FileApp can do a great job of letting you access, view, and transfer your content from your iOS devices to the Mac, it is unfortunately not possible to copy back Notes that were transferred from one iOS device to a Mac back to another iOS device. Hence, I had to resort to the copy and paste operation on each Note one-by-one.

  • Sync 2 iphones not risking a loss of contacts

Dear All,  in my outlook I have almost no contacts, all numbers I stored on Iphone. How can I transfer all contacts to a new Iphone so that the contacts from the old Iphone will not be ereased or overwritten by contacts from outlook. Thxs

Yes, but unfortunately not a way to correct it. When syncing an iPhone with a computer that has no contacts, you must add at least one contact to the computer. Then, you are prompted with an option to replace or merge, and you need to choose merge. In that way, the contacts are transferred from the iPhone to the computer. The same is true for calendar events - you need to create one on the computer first, even if you delete it later.
The underlying assumption is that if it's a 'first sync' the master copy is on the computer, since I suspect most people would find that it takes a lot less effort to enter a bunch on contacts on the computer, using the standard keyboard, than on the iPhone.

  • How do I sync my iPhone notes with my iPad, but not my Outlook?

I have several email accounts syncing to my phone, including my work email which runs through Outlook. I noticed the other day that my iphone notes had been synced to my work email, which I do not want. I want my notes to sync to my ipad, but not to my email accounts. How do I turn off the notes sync only for Outlook?

  • Syncing with iphone not completely...

iTunes seems to struggle with itself:
I've got my music on 2 Computers: one at home, one at work.
The Libraries are very similar (the one at work is the child), with about 95% of the files being identical.
iTunes match is enabled, so play counts etc. are mirrored.
Both computer run OS 10.9.4 and itunes 11.3. On the iphone 5, IOS 7.1.2
ITunes allows me to sync from both computers to the phone without complaining or threatening to delete everything. This suggests it is ok to do so, not?
BUT: The playlists I want to sync - most are simple-made dynamic playlists that get updated upon syncing - aren't updated correctly. My favorite one contains 48 tracks, itunes indicates they are on the phone, but they are not there (or they're not visible):
This is how it looks on the mac (at work):
and here's what the phone reflects:
these are all files in the playlist (on the phone)
    What could be this?
    Thanks in advance!

First of all, your post title refers to an iPhone 5S.  There is no such device being sold by Apple.
Aside from that, it sounds like your contacts are in more than one account on your Mac.  In Contacts on your Mac, you might try clicking the button closest to the plus side in the lower left of the display to hopefully show your various accounts.  You might also check Contacts > Preferences > Accounts.

  • Ipod playlists syncing onto Iphone problem

Hello, and thanks in advance for looking at this thread!
I got an X-mas iphone, and I'm so confused. I have created multiple playlists on my ipod, and I was hoping that I would be able to copy and sync them onto my new iphone. Problem is, when I go to drag and pull them into the Iphone on Itunes, it won't allow the transfer- Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
    One other quick question?:
I have a tape deck adaptor for 2000 celica and direct link adaptor for my 2006 Rav4. Will these adaptors recognize my iphone and play music through my vehicles stereos? Will I have issues with Bluetooth in my Rav4?

The iPhone doesn't allow "drag-and-drop" syncing. Select on the iPhone in the "devices" list in iTunes, then select the "music" tab and check the boxes for the music you want to sync. Click "apply". You'll have to do the same for anything else you want to sync (videos, photos, calendar, contacts, etc).
As for your other question, I have no idea...

  • Playlist on my iPhone not updating

When I update my playlist on iTunes nothing happens on the iPhone, the playlist remains same, even though iTunes Match is turned on both on my iPhone and Laptop. Any help?

    Hi eskor25,
This is odd! I have a number of solutions, however:
Try turning Match "off" for your devices and then turn them back "on." Try updating the playlists again.
If that does not work, try deleting the playlist from both devices and recreating it, or create a new playlist with the songs from the previous playlist.
If all else fails, remember that only songs that are eligible for iTunes Match (the ones that aren't will have a cloud symbol with a line through it) can go in playlists. If a track that is not eligible for iTunes Match goes in a playlist, the playlist stops updating. Try putting only iTunes Match-eligible tracks in your playlist.
    Hope this helped!

  • Mountain lion notes won't sync with iPhone notes

I must have a setting messed up but I just upgraded to 10.8.2 and iTunes 11.0 and I want to move the notes I have on my iPhone to my Mac.  I am having trouble syncing the two devices.  I didn't see anything in iTunes 11.0 to force a sync nor did I see anything in the setting of my phone that would solve this issue.

I have the same problem after updating it 2 days ago, used it for the first time today with my iPhone plugged in for sync.
I don't think that you messed up anything. This is a terrible user interface. Much harder to use than the privious one. Who approved such a bad one?

  • Media (songs/movies) synced to iphone not appearing

I have a 2g iphone running 2.0.2 firmware. Recently, I found out that the songs which I previously synced does not show on my iphone anymore when I select ipod from the springboard.
I am running Itunes 7.7.1.11. When the device appears I do see the media list and the relevant space which is supposed to be taken up. But when I select information from my Iphone settings it shows 0 songs, 0 videos.
I came across another post in this forum stating that the database might be corrupted and the fastest fix is to download a song from the Itunes store but the thing is I am from Singapore and my credit card does not allow me to download songs from the US Itunes music store. Any alternatives? I am desperate as I do not want to restore the firmware. But if firmware v2.1 can permanently fix this issue I might considering upgrading it.

Try upgrading to the latest software. Itunes 8 and iphone 2.1.

  • How can I sync my iphone notes to my ipad?

I purchased a ipad because I enjoyed my iphone so much and wanted something just like it only bigger. How ever when I tryed to sync the ipad to the iphone through itunes my notes were not synced. I would really like to be able to sync the two becouse the phone is with me all the time and I do make notes on it but in meetings I like to have the ipad for easer reading. How can I get the two to sync. Keep in mind I am an idiot.

I highly recommend Evernote for situations like this. its a free universal(works on all iOS devices) app in the App Store and is free to sign up for. it then will wirelessly sync any notes you enter into Evernote to all iOS devices that you have Evernote. so
    1. download Evernote on both the iPad and iPhone
    2. create Evernote account
    3. login to Evernote on both iPad and iPhone
    4. on iPhone, copy your notes into Evernote
    5. check Evernote on iPad and all your notes should have synced

  • QuickTime has short flashes of clips not in proper sequence

I'm using QuickTime Pro 7.2 on a MacPro Mac 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Seopn, with 4 GB of Memory.
I am edting (in Final Cut Studio) a short video that was produced by others -- they sent me 5 QuickTime clips as my source material. I had to add a few more segments, then finish it off with type, etc.
When I export the file to QuickTime, the result is that I have several places where brief clips appear, maybe a frame or two -- from elsewhere in the video. They are NOT on the timeline of FC Studio, but have made their way into the QuickTime movie.
What is happening here, and how do I solve it?

    David:
I removed all the QuickTime files that were sent to me, and when I exported the revised equence in Final Cut Studio out at a new QuickTime movie, it helped somewhat, but didn't solve the problem. The original problem (described above) was minimized, but there were still 2 places in the new file that had glitches (misplaced files) of a few frames. Here's what really baffles me: when I played the QuickTime movie a second time, it got worse, then on third play, it got even worse. More and more places were pixellated, and more misplaced files showed up.

  • Syncing iPad notes to be seperate from iPhone notes

Hello. I sync my iPhone notes with iTunes. I have separate notes on my iPad that I would like to back up and sync as well. How can this be done so that I don't have my already synced iPhone notes show up on my iPad? Every time I have my iPad plugged in and I try to sync notes, it adds all of my iPhone notes...

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10+ seconds, ignoring the red power-off slider, until you see the Apple logo. It is safe to do, there should be no content loss. It is the same as rebooting your computer.
