Playlists will not sync from iMac to my new iPod.

I just purchased a second iPod and tried to sync my iTunes music library with smart playlists to it. All of my songs synced but the smart playlists that I had created did not. I also updated my original iPod and my Smart Playlist did sync correctly on my first iPod.

To drag and drop to the iPod you have to have "Manually manage music and videos" checked in the Option section of the Summary pane for the iPod in iTunes.

Playlist will not sync

I'm working with a client who is syncing his iPod touch. He's been adding music to this iPod consistently for the last two years, and today, his largest and most frequently play playlist will not sync.
If you click on the device, the playlist appears to be there, but grayed out. I have deleted all the songs added to the playlist since his last successful sync and moved them to another playlist (which is not being synced). The content bar at the bottom of the sync screen appears to shoot up, indicating that it will sync all the playlists selected (a total of 4) but when sync completes, the content bars drops way down, and only the other three (smaller) playlists have synced.
Any suggestions?

I went into preferences, under sharing and denoted the playlists that I would like synced...
The Sharing prefs are for sharing the library/playlists with other computers. It has nothing to do with syncing.

Connect your iPod.
Select it in iTunes then click the Music tab.
Select *Sync selected playlistc* then tick the playlists you want to snyc to that iPod.
Do this for all iPods.

This sounds like you're syncing your calendars using iTunes. To sync your calendar over iCloud and have each device update automatically, you will need to do the same as I said in my last reply:
You first will need an iCloud account and you will need to turn on calendar sync in System Preferences > iCloud.
After this, make sure your iDevice is set up with the same iCloud account and your calendar should show up after a few minutes.
To clarify:
On the Mac, iCloud settings are under System Preferences > iCloud.
On an iDevice, iCloud settings are in the Settings app under iCloud.

Mp3 will not sync from iTunes desktop to iphone

Hi All,
I have some mp3 files (voice recordings purchased from Darren Hardy) that I imported into my iTunes Library just fine on my Mac OSX desktop.
However, those files simply will not sync up with my iPhone like the other 1900-odd songs in my library do just fine.
I'm not a total dope, but this one's got me baffled. I've tried reboots, resyncs, changing the files from music to audiobooks, nothing obvious seems to work.
And BTW, there's no indication in the Get Info box that there is any DRM on them.
Any ideas?

Selected iTunes Playlists Do Not Sync from Mac to iPhone

I've seen similar postings lately but no responses. I've recently updated iTunes by removing duplicate playlists that inexplicably appeared after buying iTunes Match. Had many problems syncing playlists with Match turned on, so I've shut that off in both iTunes and on my iPhone 5s. Repeated a number of steps that got my playlists on other devices (mini and Air) but to no avail. Anyone with a similar issue if you've found a workaround/solution I'd appreciate it.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Movie The Words will not sync from iTunes 11.0.1 to Apple TV gen1

I have followed the threads on the subject and got an SD copy of The Words (which I purchased in HD).
Originally, there were two other problems.
1) the download was being corrupted at the end, not finishing properly (HD). Although it would play in iTunes on the mac, a check of the Info showed several fields simply missing, such as AppleID. It did sync to Apple TV gen1 but then told us 'not authorized' when trying to play it. I finally got a good copy after clearing the Downloads folder and re-downloading several times.
2) AppleIDs from iTunes and iCloud did not match, so I was at first unable to get the show iCloud in iTunes option on the Store preferences, with no warning. I fixed that too and got an SD copy of The Words into iTunes.
I removed the original movie file from the Apple TV. it was gone from the movie list.
However, I now have an SD copy of the movie in my iTunes, but it WILL NOT sync to the AppleTV. When i select it for sync, and apply, Sync runs very briefly, indicating no problems, but nothing gets done. The movie does not appear in the Apple TV menu, and it is clearly not being transferred over.
Anyone got any suggestions?

The black unit is the 2nd or 3rd gen Apple TV.
The 1st gen Apple TV (silver) is the one that you can move things over to the internal HD on the Apple TV.

Calendar will not sync from iphone to ical since 10.5.2 update

My iphone has worked perfectly since I bought it last summer & I have been raving about it!
I updated to 10.5.2 and now I am having a syncing problem.
If I put an appointment in the iphone it will not sync to ical, but it does sync from ical to the iphone.
This is all new since 10.5.2.
Are there some simple steps to follow to resolve this issue?

1. got the back up done. After I answer your couple of quesitons, i will do the reset.
2. I am responding to you using my .mac account, which, as you know, is IMAP.
3. In addition, I do have a POP ( Yahoo) account that I use a great deal. I use the Mac Mail application to grab the Yahoo e mails for me, as I thought that would be the easiest set up. ( Just launch Mail and every e mail is available for viewing). I suspect you are going to advise me to take the steps to turn my POP Yahoo into an IMAP Yahoo???.
4. So I think I may have answered you question about accessing this account with an email client, right? I am using Mail.
5. Thanks for the thought on the incoming e mail server. Good to know.
6. My Mac account settings for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the email client ( Mail?) are: (1) for the Yahoo - I looked under Accounts/Advanced. And, if that is the right place, hopefully, I have set it to remove copy from server after retrieving a message after 1 month. ( just being careful). (2) I do not see choices for my .mac IMAP account, except under Trash, and for that I have also chosen 1 month before permanently removing.
How'd I do?? I want to answer your questions as specifically and succinctly as possible. Your assistance is much appreciated.

Okay, at the office I did the "null Sync" leaving contacts and calendar for last...It did sync...I came home and viola! it synced here as well...Only thing, my contacts changed a little...WMDC asks about "save to my device" or "save to pc"...it is a bit confusing because the choices on the phone are little different...Any advice on this?
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it syncs at the office tomorrow morning...Thanks for your help

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.

As mentioned by vazandrew, music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

On iCloud, the calendar will sync from computer and iPhone to everything, but will not sync FROM iPad

When I enter data on my computer or iPhone, the calendars all sync nicely; however, if I enter an event on my iPad, it will not sync, eventhough it syncs the information from the other devices. Any advice?

Once you set your Exchange Calendar as the default here:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > scroll down to Default Calendar > Select your Exchange calendar
All new events should be created in your Exchange calendar unless manually changed.

Audio books will not sync from itunes to iphone

I have four audio books on ITunes that at one time were synced to Iphone. Now they are not on the phone and I can not sync from Itunes, even though they are in Itunes as a purchase. I have gone to book and audiobooks and checked sync all on both.
