Playlists wont advance in home sharing

I have shared my ITunes Library to my Apple TV.  When applying a playlist to a slideshow only the first song plays and then it stops.   The playlist also reports that there is no content even though I can see the indivdiual songs within.  The same appears for an album.

OK still having the same problem but now I'm using a workaround.  From iTunes on my PC, I select Apple TV from the speaker list, (via the icon that has a triangle within a rectangle) then start the playlist from there.  The podcasts start playing and can then be controlled, e.g. paused, from the Remote app on my iPad.  Also on the iPad in the list view up at the top it shows the upcoming podcasts and they are in the right order.  It would be nice if Apple fixed this so that the podcast playlist could be started from the iPad instead of having to start it from the PC.

  • Playlists not working in Home Sharing

My setup:  iTunes 11 on Windows 7 PC, Home Sharing enabled, Apple TV 2 with latest firmware, Remote app on iPad 3
Initially I couldn't get Home Sharing to work at all, then discovered it was an issue with my Verizon FIOS Actiontec M1424WR router.  Solved that problem by going into Advanced settings for the router and disabling the IGMP Proxy.
Now when I start the Remote app on my iPad I can get to my library, but I'm having problems with playlists and podcasts:
    1.  The playlists won't play at all.  I can play individual podcasts but not playlists.  Anyone know how to get playlists working?
    2.  Within playlists the podcast order is changed.  Anyone know how to get Home Sharing to stop changing the podcast order?
    3.  Home Sharing is also changing the order of podcasts within the podcast itself - for example if I have NPR All Things Considered as a podcast, it changes the order of the individual stories.  This is very annoying - anyone know how to make it stop doing this?
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Limewire playlists showing up in home sharing

I have a weird problem. I have limewire playlists showing up in my Itunes 9 shared area. No one in the household has ever installed limewire on the pcs, and nothing shady is done on any of them. If I open the playlists they are full of music none of us would ever listen to, and I'm able to play music from it.
I'm in a rural area and the nearest house is 1/2 a mile away. I disabled wireless on the router anyway, and the playlists still remain afterwards (and remain playable). Unchecking the "Look for shared playlists" in itunes makes the playlists go away but the problem still remains... is someone somehow leeching off my internet connection or is itunes just doing something funny? I've googled "itunes limewire playlists" and it does seem to be happening to other people.

  • PLAYLIST WONT ADVANCE TO NEXT SONG

So out of no where my playlist keeps playing the same song.  It wont advance to the next song.  No idea what happened.  It worked fine yesterday

Not sure which Nano you have, but if it's the 6th gen, have a look at page 21 of the manual (download here).

  • HT5622 My AppleTV wont connect to Home Sharing.

My AppleTV keeps saying that my password or username is incorrect when I try to connect to the Home Sharing.
I've tried logging in through iTunes, Resetting my password multiple times, resetting the AppleTV itself and even manually typing in the ".com" but I can't seem to get it to log me in.
Does anyone else have this same problem or should I take it in to the Apple Store?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Have you tried restarting your router.

  • How do I import a playlist on home sharing?  I get the songs, but not packaged in the playlist from which it was imported.

How do I import a playlist on home sharing?  I get the songs, but not packaged in the playlist from which they were imported. Now I have duplicate songs in my music library.

You can't import media from one Home Sharing library to another by any other means except selecting the individual items you want to import. For example, you can't select a playlist and then click on the 'Import' button to import all the items in that playlist. You have to select all the items in the playlist before you can click on the 'Import' button. By extension, the playlist on the other Home Sharing computer will not be re-created on your computer. You can select more than one item using the 'Shift' or 'Command' keys.
What you can do is create a playlist on your computer first, with the same name if you want, and then use drag and drop to copy the media from the remote playlist to your playlist. Note that the playlist on your computer cannot be a 'Smart' playlist it must be a regular playlist for drag and drop copying to work.
Regarding 'Smart' playlists. If you create a 'Smart' playlist on your computer that uses the exact same filtres as the ones on the remote library when you import the media from the remote library they will show up in the same 'Smart' playlist on your computer.

  • Home sharing won't play classical music

Ok, this is a really strange one.
I have just finished ripping all my CDs - about 450 of them - to my MacPro in ALAC format.  After I finished, I turned on Home Sharing to share this wonderful new library I created.  Home sharing works from the MacPro to my iPhone (IOS 5.0.1), but none of my other computers (my MacBook and Mini) can play any classical tracks.  They can all see the files but when I try to play them, an appears besides each track.  Every other genre plays fine.  Like What's With That!!
Anyone else seen this??  Wonder if Apple specifically doesn't like classical music ... Right.
If I import the files into local iTunes libraries on my MacBook and Mini, they all play fine - just wont play with Home Sharing.
Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly welcome.
    Thanks.

FORGOT TO MENTION everything worked fine last week before I reinstalled XP

  • Home sharing wont let me click the import button when I try to import songs from one computer to another.

I can see the import button but it wont let me click on it.

The above article did not help me, I was having the same issue. The import button was "greyed out". But this article did help...mostly:
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
I successfully moved my music from my old computer running Windows XP to a laptop running Windows 7. I could never get the import button to be "active" but I randomly tried selecting all the music I could view from my old computer on the new computer using Home Sharing and dragging it to Library on the new computer. It immediately starting copying the files, and then, and only then,  the Import button became "active" i.e. not greyed out. But I did not need to click on it at that point because the files were being copied to the Library of the new computer.
I then followed the article I mention above to get my playlists transferred as well. All is good after a very frustrating morning of research. There are many posts on forums about the "greyed out" issue; none of the answers I could find worked for me.  This did. 3,000 songs and all in their proper playlists!

  • Home sharing, sharing playlists

Our familiy music collection is on my iMac.
    Home sharing is set up.
    We use playlists.
My kid can sync her iPhone 4S using playlists to get any music she wants off the iMac.
I can do the same with my iPhone 4S.
My wife has a Dell laptop she uses for her iTunes account.
She travels and likes to download movies for her trips.
She has some music on her laptop in iTunes.
She just got an iPhone 4S and wants more music from our iMac.
With home sharing (we get the music sharing icon) she can stream a playlist she created on the iMac but I can't seem to get that up on her iPhone.
She wants to use iTunes to get movies on her laptop but use the iMac to get music(a single playlist) to her iPhone 4S.
    Can this be done?
3 people, 3 iTunes accounts, 3 iPhone 4S, an iMac, and a PC Laptop.
Thanks in advance for any asistance.

    I resolved my Robles.
I was making it too hard.
I synced my wife's phone to the iMac and it worked fine

  • How can I use home sharing between our iphones (create playlists from both accounts at once)

How can I use home sharing between our iphones, so that we can create playlists with songs from both of our libraries?  We share a Macbook Pro (separate accounts) and each have the new iphone, but when I have my iphone and try to create a new playlist, I can only grab songs from one account.  Is there a way to create a playlist using both accounts since we are sharing?
Does it have to be created within iTunes first on our Mac?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • My Ipod wont sync with my new library and I dont know why not. It will show that it is connected through home sharing, but it is only avalible when i am with my laptop! I dont know how to get this current library as mine on my ipod, help!

My ipod will not sync with my laptop. I have had previous Ipods in the past, but since then I have grown out of most of my music. Also about a year and a half ago I got a new laptop. I used the same Itunes name, but now on my new Ipod it has all of my old music and it refuses to download any of my new music. When I am using home sharing though, it says that I can turn on my "Library" but that my "music" is what is perminately on the computer. This only works though if I am near my laptop. When I try to transfer my library onto my ipod it wont let me. My music on my ipod is completely different than my normal itunes library on my computer and I have no idea how to transfer it. When I plug it in, it wont sync at all, or show that there is any device even plugged in. I am frustrated and tired of not having any  of my music, so someone please help!!!

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. To make this your syncing computer:

  • HT2688 How do I restrict access to *specific* songs (or give access to a specific playlist) in Home Sharing

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2688?
This article describes two different things:
    Music Sharing and
    Home Sharing
Music Sharing allows you to select playlist(s) to share, and allows you to play the song from another device. It does *not* allow you to transfer the song to another device.
Home Sharing allows you to share your ENTIRE music library and transfer the songs to another device. It does not allow you to restrict the share to a specific playlist(s).
Try it. You can set a password and check the boxes to restrict your playlists, but that only restricts while Home Sharing is turned off. EVERY file is accessible when you have Home Sharing running.
I have a bunch of music I don't want my kids listening to. I've created a playlist for them, and I want them to be able to load their ipods with music from that list without accessing other music.  Any ideas?
