Playsforsure / Mediasource Organi

I own a 60GB Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra and recently installed the PlaysforSure firmware. However, I was slightly misled as to what this upgrade entailed and that it was irreversible (this was NOT made clear on the download), however it appeared to be necessary as my mp3 player had not been functioning correctly recent.
I have around 8,000 MP3 on my hard dri've and these are PERFECTLY organised in mediasource organiser, a process that has taken several months during my spare time and I am not prepared to reorganise for obvious reasons.
However, I have downloaded the Software Suite and am now able to use the Mediasource Organiser with my MP3 player. However there are several shortcomings;
i) Songs of the same name (e.g. where have multiple versions of the same song) cannot be transferred because they are duplicates.
It seems this is because of the shortcoming below.
ii) What has happened to the functionality whereby music files could be browsed by genre/artist/album? Is this no longer possible due to the firmware upgrade, or are their plans for a update for this?
At present I'm very dissatisfied, it was NOT made clear that the PlaysforSure firmware upgrade would cause these problems and I am not happpy that several months work of tagging files will go to waste, as a shortcoming in the Mediasource Organiser does not actually change the ID3 tags of the files, it only changes their information as held in program itself (and the MP3 player).

I would suggest that you download and install the latest MediaSource and its plugins.
Here is what you should do:
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site. Make sure that you install this first before installing the rest of the MediaSource plugins listed below.
- (Depending on your product and firmware)
For non-PlaysForSure Zen series: Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
or:
For PlaysForSure Zen Touch: Download and install the Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players.

Organizing files in Zen Micro in MediaSource Organi

How do I organize my files in Creative MediaSource Organizer. I just upgraded my Zen Micro to "Plays for Sure" and it didn't show up in Creative Mediasource Organizer. I downloaded a fix for it, and now it shows up. Unfortunately, the files are listed in artist folders and not be tags by artist, genre, title, etc. I used to be able to drag and drop w/in the MediaSource organizer to change artist, album etc. Now I can't do that. Is there a way to organize files w/in MediaSource or Windows Media Player w/in the Zen Micro. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,[email protected]

Touch Mediasource Organi

I've updated all of the programs for the Touch as well as the firmware -- they are all up to date. However, the mediasource organizer is not recognizing my Touch, Windows media explorer is, and I can access the media through my computer, but i cannot transfer files through the mediasource organizer. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

Make sure you also download and install the MediaSource plugin of your ZEN Touch:

Printing Badly Needed in Creative MediaSource Organi

I am posting this in hopes that someone with the Creative organization will read it. I have my whole collection on my computer in mp3 format, as well as on my 40GB Nomad Jukebox Zen. I want to make a printed listing of my library. I have been able to do this to some extent with a competing product, but only by second guessing the organization of their database.
Such a printout would need flexibility with regard to organization and formatting of the output, which is a lot to ask for. But a very workable compromise would be a feature which would output a csv text file whose contents could then be imported into Excel (or some other suitable program.) This is what I did with the competing software and I was able to print very small lines with bold headings for the album names, etc.
Perhaps there is some such feature already available in the MediaSource organizer; if so, someone please direct me to it. If not, I think the lack of printing capability (of some sort) is a significant deficiency which should be addressed. Even an explanation of the database structure would be helpful.

I'm not sure if PlayCenter clashes with MediaSource, so you might have to uninstall it.
You have to install PC2 first, then the update 3.02.52. PlayCentre 3.02.52 (links are to Nomadness.net's download section)
The printed output was very basic with zero control if memory serves correct.
As for the WinAmp plugin, would I have to duplicate an MP3 library in WinAmp to get the HTML output?
No. It loads the library from your player. Plus you can control the display format of the queue, so have some control over the output.

Error messages when transferring to Zen Touch with Creative MediaSource Organi

Hello all,
My name is Allana and my lovely fiance bought me a Zen Touch for our 6 year anni'versary. I already love it dearly but transferring MP3s using MediaSource Organizer is a real nightmare.
It will transfer about 5-0 tracks then I will get a 'Server Busy, switch or retry' error, which is quickly followed by a 'Player is not connected or is busy' error.
Has anyone else experienced these errors? What did you do to fix it's
It is taking me absolutely ages to transfer tracks at this rate.

Connection problems can be due to a lot of reasons.

MPEG-4 Audio and Creative MediaSource Organi

I used iTunes before purchasing Audigy 4, and a good chunk of my music is in MPEG-4 Format, but my creative Mediasource Organizer won't play them. Anyone know what and how to convert them so they will play on the Organizer?

iTunes will convert to MP3. I think this is probably your best option.

Can't find my zen xtra in the Creative MediaSource Organi

My Zen Xtra shows in "NOMAD Explorer" but when I try to use Creative MediaSource Organizer to transfer file from my computer to Zen xtra player, I can't found Zen xtra under "my computer"
any help? My player has the latest firmware and also latest dri've was installed in my computer!!

Zen Xtra won't appear in Creative MediaSource Organi

I've been using my 30 GB Jukebox for a couple years w/ no real problems except that I remember there being a problem w/ a USB port & I had to change something so that the Creative MediaSource Organizer software could recognize the mp3 player. Now I've bought a 60 GB Zen Xtra (same player, x2) & am having the same problem. I've upgraded everything & hate the new interface for transfering files... most of the time the program just freezes. I'd like to be able to use the same Creative software I was using before, but it doesn't recognize the new device. If anyone knows what I'm talking about or how I can fix it, I'd rather not have to call?Customer Service?again for $3.

I'm just giving this topic a bump. I've upgraded to Creative MediaSource Organizer v 3.30.2, but it won't recognize either of my mp3 players when I plug them in. I'm able to use the Zen Xtra Media Explorer, but?most of the time it just freezes up. I'd like to be able to use the software I'm familiar w/, so if anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. I seem to remember having a similar problem when I first purchased my 30 GB Zen Xtra.

Creative mediasource organi

whenever i start up i get a bunch of error messages saying it doesn't recognize certain files. including mp2, mp3, aif, etc. after burning a cd it says it has an error and must shutdown. the cd is burned with the music but to get the information, song title, etc, i have to open up the organizer and reinsert the cd and make sure it has the information.
any idea how i can fix this?

you dont understand. theres nothing wrong with the mp3 player, its fine. i just updated the firmware and sort of formatted it. the problem is with the mediasource organizer that freezes and screws up my computer whenever i try to transfer files. im not sure whether it has to do with that playforsure thing which im not sure what it even does or whether its something else. my firmware is version 2.0.03, and the mediasource organizer is version 3.30.2 . it works fine until i connect the player and it has that thing on the upper left side with pc music library, music store, and my computer, and when u connect the jukebox another option is added, and when it tries to open that it freezes.
anybody who has any idea whats wrong or how to fix this please reply as soon as possible.

Chinese Character Support On MediaSource Organi

Hi,
I have MP3 song with filename in Chinese characters. On my Windows XP, I can view the filename in Chinese character using Windows File Explorer. Even the ID Tag also no problem. But when I use MediaSource Organizer, all my chinese character MP3 filename displayed as rubbish. Is there anyway I can make MediaSource to display chinese character without resorting to third party software since by nati've, Windows XP support chinese character viewing features.

You will need to install a language viewer. For example, to view Chinese/Korean/Janpanese, you can install NJ Star viewer.

Problem with Zen NX not being recognised by MediaSource Organi

I was just given my Aunt's old Creative Zen NX player, but she'd lost the disk with drivers etc on it, so i downloaded from the website the following:
Drivers: Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
Firmware: Creative Jukebox Zen NX firmware update version .0.02e (For Europe Only) ZENX-FWARE-3-US
Applications: Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 CMS-WEBUP-9-LB

but when i try to use MediaSource Organiser to transfer tracks from my PC to the MP3 player, it doesn't recognise that the mp3 player is connected. I've searched on the computer for new plug & play hardware, and it recognises that Nomad Jukebox Zen NX is connected to the USB port, but when i re-open MediaSource Organiser it still doesn't have the mp3 player listed in the "Sources" - it only lists "PC Music Library" and "My Computer"

One thing I have noticed is that on the a few of the downloadable files it says "If your Creative MediaSource version is lower than 3.20.57, download and install the latest version before installing this software package." - mine is 3.20.2 but that is the most recent one i can find on the website?

Help With My Creative Mediasource Organis

When I open the program up,it says
"Your music library is corrupted & cant be recovered.Mediasource will now revert to your most recent backup available.Would you like to continue?"
Then I press "Yes". Afterwhich another pop-up appears.
It reads...
"You have no available backup.Mediasource will now create a new Music Library"
Then I press "OK". Then another pop-up appears.
It reads...
"This PC music library cant be opened as the Database Engine is corrupted. Please run the Microsoft Jet Engine 4.0 Service Pack 3 or above that is available at the Microsoft website."
I went to the Microsoft website & downloaded something along the lines of Jet Engine 4 Service Pack 8 because I couldn't find exactly the "Microsoft Jet Engine 4.0 Service Pack 3".

Some of the Microsoft Jet and Microsoft MDAC files of your operating system may be corrupted. Use a MDAC repair tool from http://www.macropool.com/en/download/mdac.html The above tool has fixed the problem of MediaSource's corrupted database problem for many users. You may want to try it. If the above did not work for you and your operating system is WinXP SP2, you may want to uninstall WinXP SP2 and re-install WinXP SP2 to repair it. Again, this has worked for some users.

Strange characters transferring songs to MediaSource Organi

Funny..... sometimes when?I transfer songs from Windows Explorer to MediaSource Organizer the song titles change and will have funny characters replacing some of the original letters. I have run spyware and antivirus software but nothing showed. Can someone explain why this is happening and what I can do to fix it's? Many thanks?Bobby?

It might be a problem with the tags. Copy the file, use a tagging program to remove the tags from the copied file, then try transferring again.
Failing that make sure to get the latest drivers, firmware, MediaSource and MediaSource plugin from Nomadworld.com downloads.

Upgrading Creative MediaSource Organi

Hi All,
I have a 30GB Zen Extra with firmware .03.02 and MediaSource Organizer 2.0.07. They're running on an XP ServPak 2 laptop with all current critical updates. I was thinking of updating to Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38.
Question: Will my existing player firmware work OK with Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 5.0.38? Or will I need to upgrade my player firmware?

I have a Zen Sleek. Same deal... I wanted to upgrade the MediaSource software to version 5 because there are some bugs I've noticed that I was hoping were fixed in the new version.
I tried to use automatic update from within Mediasource - it did not work. I downloaded the new version manually.
Upon uninstall of old version and install of new version I get this wierd error CTXCommonDoInstall.return fails to launch error code 247024864.
What the _______ is this?
The install stops in its tracks. Now I have neither the old nor the new version on my system. How does one fix this?
