there are myriad threads on this topic
1) the 2011 Xperias are not going to get any major updates anymore
2) Android doesn't support this natively

  • Please add Plex Media Server support in addition to Twonky Server

Please add Plex Media Server support in addition to Twonky Server Plex has:- better client UI- organized information and better use of online meta-data WD MyCloud has the hardware necessary to run a Plex Media Server

I agree without plex the WD EX4 is just another storage device. I'm looking for something that will allow me to stream the content in a great looking UI and simplify things for my family. Plex support is needed if you expect to compete with Synology etc. Had I known PLEX was not supported I would of certainly went another route. I do appreeciate the WD EX 4 and not had as many issues as others with the device but PLEX support is basicly a requirment for new devices and it is a shame is not supported by WD EX 4.

  • Raise your hand if you want better Native Video Player support on iPhone!

Please submit a bug/enhancement report to Apple if you would like them to remove the restriction on iPhone's ability to playback native video inline (as opposed to ALWAYS going fullscreen). This is handy for a number of application:
    1. Using actionscript and stageWebView, you can control the native video player by issuing javascript calls to content embedded in an html page. (see http://www.yeahbutisitflash.com/?p=3968 for a good tutuorial)
Likewise, you can have your movie react to events happening in the native video player (time index, finished playing, etc.) by doing the reverse (again, http://www.yeahbutisitflash.com/?p=3996 is a great read for how to get started doing this)
    2. You can allow the user to send video content to an Apple TV (or maybe a future iTV?) without releasing app functionality. ie: the user doesn't get locked into a full-screen state on his or her device.
The ONLY reason AIR lacks interactivity with the native player on iOS is because the Obj-C UIwebview webview.allowsInlineMediaPlayback property is set to "NO" by default on the iPhone (it is set to "YES" on the iPad and everything I described above works beautifully!)
From what I gather, in Xcode, you simply set this UIwebview propterty to "yes" along with adding "webkit-playsinline" to the html video tag in order to permit an app to play back video inline on the iPhone. I suggested to Apple they remove the restriction, perhaps requiring the html tag alone for inline playback.
If you agree that AIR should have improved native video handling, please submit a bug/enhancement report to Apple bugreport.apple.com  Having this "restriction" lifted will ensure we can produce quality Universal media apps with identical functionality on both iPad and iPhone platforms.
    Thanks for reading!

    What's an ECR?
I filed a bug report with Apple. I guess I'm satisfied with the response (is all I can say due to standard NDA) But from what I've read elsewhere on the 'net, the more reports that come in regarding an issue, the more it gets escalated.
Do you have an iPad example demonstrating these capabilities? The StageWebView videos players I've seen always had limited control over the video.
I have an app in development with these capabilities fully functional and very stable. Unfortunately, javascript control of native video in a stageWebView is hobbled on the iPhone due to the restriction I describe above. Specifically, the functions all work except for the vid.play() js command, which will always trigger a full-screen playback. Poop. I guess I will go for an iPad-only soft launch and put the iPhone/universal version on the back burner.

  • Please Add LTE Band 12 Support for better connection

I was deeply disappointed to find the recent 5.1.1 release of Android didn't include adding Band 12 support to the Z3C! The Sony representative I spoke to in March said the phone had the radio to be able to connect via Band 12 and just needed to be enabled in the software. Recently you enabled Band 12 for the Z3 (http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/06/03/t-mobile-updates-its-xperia-z3-to-lollipop-throws-in-band-12-lte-support-for-good-measure/) so you clearly have the software to do this already, please please please add it to the Z3C software!!! For anyone on T-mobile it will equate to a substantial improvement in signal availability and strength, and everything else you do is much less important than that! Thanks.

I tried calling a friend but the call didn't go through and instead it said call ended on my phone with 2 beep tones, what does this mean?

  • Video Call support on G3 hardware

The minimum OS requirement for the latest version of Skype is 10.3.9, but the hardware requirement is G4..
I know that you can get an older version of Skype for the G3, but it's voice only. Is there a way to bypass this limitation? "No, there's not." What alternative client would let me talk to people on Skype with video? I don't necessarily have to broadcast video, just view; like a 3rd generation iPod touch with Fring or Skype.
    Any ideas?
-An acceptable alternative could bypass Skype altogether, however it needs to be compatible with the iPod touch 4th gen; e.g. Fring.

K, I feel dumb, because it already has video support...
Let's change the question. Are there alternatives to Skype, since it's 3 years old?

  • Please add Jot Touch 4 support with Palm Rejection

I've used it with other enabled apps and it is awesome.  Would love to use it with your app instead.
    Thanks!

  • WCF Add Service Reference Not Supported for Windows Phone 8.1 XAML Applications

Windows Phone 8.1 XAML applications does not support the System.ServiceModel namespace, and therefore you are not able to right click references in the project and choose Add Service Reference.   The recommended solution is to add a REST endpoint
to your WCF endpoint, and access the WCF application through the REST endpoint using HttpClient.
    Bret Bentzinger (MSFT) @awehellyeah

My opinion on this subject is that someone in management needs to get rid of the "Yes Man" and hire someone with a backbone.
A project (such as this one) suffered big time because of your excuse of meeting a deadline. Did nobody do feasibility studies to determine the effects of removing the ServiceModel namespace and how it would break migration? It wasn't removed from the other
project types, so it wasn't a point that it wouldn't fit on the device, so it came down to testing and someone dropped the ball. This is poor management, and deadlines should be extended for critical points within a project. Think about the public relations
that has already been set backwards by this move. I believe that it meets the critical criteria only because you are talking about targeting the mobile devices which consume external data sources as a key component. Lacking the ServiceModel namespace was a
monumental error on the teams part.
This is a perfect case of "we can ship the car", but the wheels will have to wait...they can "Flintstone it" until we get the wheels ready.

  • Video Calls - no SSE2 support

Hi folks, Just updated to Skype 6.18.0.106 on a Windows XP SP3 machine. When trying to use video call, I keep getting this error:"We've improvd video calling, but unfortunately your computer doesn't support our latest verson.Don't worry, we have another version so you can still make video calls.<Learn More>" When I click on Learn More it tells me that the CPU I am using doesn't support SSE2.  OK, that explains why this version isn't working but how do I find and install the other version mentioned above?

Well thats the problem in our new and modern world.I call it Microsoft discriminating. Thats nothing other even other here would not be surprised with my decision. But in real millions of users who have computer systems with non SSE2 CPUs at his home will become meeted with this problem because not only Skype didn't work anymore with non SSE2 CPUs, thats the same with many browsers and other software which will have as requirement the SSE2 implementation in the CPU. If the CPU not have this implementation, and that are automatically all Socket A systems with AMD Athlon/Sempron/Duron processors , you are disqualified and not able to use many programs and software infront that SSE2 will become a standard in finally all software with the time. I'm one of this dicriminated users who own a Socket A system with AMD Sempron 3200+ CPU. The sadness will become that all other hardware meets easy all requirements like RAM, disk space, GPU performance and so on. With 4GB RAM/1TB HDD/GeForce GT7300 GPU there are no problems with the other hardware. Explicite the CPU and in follow the motherboard - means the bottom system - must be changed. So a hardware upgrade is needed. But thats not cheap because where to find a mainboard that supports four PATA drives, a AGP graphic card, and DDR SDRAM today. More than difficult especially when you live in a province where such hardware nobody sells. So you are pressed to buy a complietely new desktop computer. Thats a BIG investition when you are poor and not so easy to solve it! And thats why i say Microsoft discriminating. I know so many people who didn't have the needed money for buying a new computer system or notebook, so they have NO solution. Here i can only say thanks to Microsoft that has make this very BIG change in the software world. Now many poor Windows users with x86 based non-SSE2 systems are excluded from new software and programs like Skype. So they won't be able to talk with her friends and family anymore. Often i see that the way over Skype where for them the only solution to hear and see his family and friends. So this way is now thanks Microsoft also closed. I hope everybody who read my post understands the frustration and sadness which will come to many users which didn't have SSE2 systems and are not able to change his hardware environment from today to tomorrow. Thats for many people not solvable. Me maybe not, but so many other with who i'm sad too because i cannot help them. Thank you Microsoft! A very intelligent chess pull. So only financial good situated people can use new software and programs, but poor are outdated. Thats really realyy SAD! Thanks for reading...

You aren't addressing Apple here. This is a user-to-user tech support site.  Apple doesn't participate here. We are all iPhone users like yourself
There is nothing whatsoever misleading about how FactTime is described by Apple.  It works EXACTY as stated. If you are mislead, it's due to your inadequate reading comprehension or lack of effort reading what Apple actually said.
There is no "international" standard for cell phone video calling.  Most other phones use proprietary systems or 3rd party apps such as Skype (which also works on iPhones).  FaceTime is on WiFi internet connections only because all carriers have refused to allow it on their cell networks due to the huge number of iPhones.  The FaceTime standard is open source and other manufacturers are free to implement it, but have refused so far.

Video call is not available on Skype for Nokia Belle (I really don’t know why and also would like to know why it is not working).
