Please Add Responsive Design

I am reasonably good coder. But love Muse. No reason to write all that code.
Just spent about 8 hours learning Muse only to learn that can't create responsive design. What Muse delivers would have been perfect not long ago. But devices keep improving. Please add responsive design (for all devices).

In current Muse, to adapt a desktop design to phones and tablets is a HUGE amount of work that can easily quadruple the cost of site development.
Unless it becomes responsive, Muse's days may be numbered for no other reason.

  • How to add multiple presets to responsive design view without having to resize the screen each time

I want to be able to add multiple screen size presets to the responsive design view capability but don't want to have to resize the screen and add each one individually via the custom preset function.
Have seen that some posts on the internet (http://g-liu.com/blog/2013/08/firefox-rdm-presets/) that say this can be done but cannot find where the config is held in ver 26.0?

You can also do the opposite and create custom settings in the responsive design mode window.
You can hold down the Shift key and drag the borders via the (right border, bottom border, bottom right corner) resize icons to get specific dimensions and give the current custom setting a name to add them as a preset.
This will add the preset to the devtools.responsiveUI.presets pref.
See also my post here for a bookmarklet.
    *[[/questions/957590]]
You can paste the current value of the pref in the prompt to see a list of currently defined presets.<br />
You can add a new preset by entering the width, height, name values in the prompt.<br />
Copy the new preset list to the pref.

  • Edit Responsive Design template using Adobe Contribute

    Hi,
I am creating a website which is based on responsive design layout. I am using HTML5 and CSS3 for the framework.
It has 5 static pages e.g. "About US", "FAQ", "Contact US"
My customer wants to edit the content of the page using Adobe Contribute. E.g. want to edit the content in about us or Contact Us.
Now whenever we edit content using Contribute, it sometimes adds styles or <p> tags.
Please advise if we establish the website server in Contribute, can the text will be editable using Contribute CS5?
If yes, what will be its pros & cons?
    Thank you
    Monica Mandal

While designing Responsive layout we have three css frameworks: Skeleton, Bootstrap and Foundation.
If we are creating CMS Responsive layout (where user can edit using Contribute), is there any way to decide which CSS framework is more preferable for Contribute?
Use whichever stylesheets best support your project goals.

  • Typekit and responsive design

    Hi
I am creating a website with a responsive design in dreamweaver for a BC website,
But How can I make the typekit font work, I added je JQ stuff in the heading but with teh CSS it disn't work. Where do I need to put it, in which css file?
    Regards
    Ferry

    Hi Koushik,
For the Photoshop problem, are you exporting from Photohop to an RFLW file or are you importing an open PSD in Reflow? Have you tried both methods and do they both have the same problem or does one always work and the other is flaky? Given that it has worked a few times it sounds like everything is at least installed correctly.
Problem 2, Typekit not working on localhost. Did you add "localhost" to you kit settings and then publish those changes? Also does the url in the preview start with http://localhost:8008/" ? The url in the preview needs to match the url in your browser. You can follow all the listed on this blog post: http://blogs.adobe.com/edgereflow/2014/01/31/using-typekit-fonts-with-reflow/
Problem 3 is related to Problem 2. The issue is when you're device connects to to your computer as the websever, typekit does't see you computer as an authored user of your fonts. The devices ins't connecting to "localhost" but using whatever the ip address of you computer is on teh network. If you want to preview the fonts you either need to add your computers IP address to your kit settings or put the preview up on a server that your kit allows.
When you are done please post your experience using the Photoshop import on your project. You can either start a new post or reply to a post we are running about people using Photoshop, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1392173?tstart=0. We're looking into improving the import experience so your feedback here is really appreciated.
Hope that helps, thanks for using Reflow!

  • Responsive design project not working in Opera or Chrome

My Captivate project in responsive design is only previewing in Internet Explorer. I have also uploaded the projects to my server and am having the same problem. Why is this?

    Hi,
Chrome 36 has some issues with captivate  html5 output. Please find the following workaround to fix the issue.

  • Responsive design mode is showing part of pages and is not showing any optomized pages even in safe mode.

I need to check multiple websites everyday for responsive design. When I open Responsive design mode I am getting full pages on every site, even ones I know are mobile opt. No matter how I scale it everything remains exactly as it is. I have to scale it to the far right to get the whole page. Basically the pages are always in full screen and I'm getting a window that only allows me to see part of a page. It is very frustrating.
    Win xp
    firefox V28.0
I am not a coder so please keep solutions simple.

From your screenshot, it seems to be working, as that grey bar has appeared at the top (with a link to the mobile version of the site). This only appears when the viewport width is 800px or less. This support website doesn't shrink dynamically (as the viewport gets smaller), but remembers whether your machine has a small screen or not (probably by storing a cookie which is changed when you click the link in the grey bar).
If you are having trouble with other sites, have you tried refreshing the page after resizing? When I have created responsive websites I often have to use JavaScript for a few features, and it simply isn't worth the processing power to make the code run every time the window size changes. Other than that I can't see what would be causing the problem (unless there is other important information you may have missed out)

  • Responsive Design

Six months ago I purchased Dreamweaver CS6 to have my site more interactive, i'm new to Web Development. I currently ran into a slight IE 7 & 8 comp ability issue with DWCS6 and CSS3.
My computer system is Windows 7 with IE9, so when testing my new site all went well, until I uploaded and learned about Internet Explorer Developer Tools, which has cross browser mode to test IE 7 & 8 versions.
Unfortunately my site shows phone view first, I’m using Dreamweaver Fluid Grid Responsive Design System, which gives 3-layouts, phone-tablet-desktop.
For the past month my reasearch is circling to no avail, I have tried many methods on the net , but none seems to be working.
    I have learned that “html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js" and "respond.min.js”
are not working properly with my site ( in IE 7 & 8).
May I humbly request your assistance with resolution to these issues?

    Thank You,
    mlfa

It's really a waste of time to make a site responsive for old browsers.
The hacks required are not simple and tend to add to an already bloated
approach by Adobe. Concentrate on modern browsers and, of course, mobile
    devices.
Unfortunately, there is little consensus on best practices for
responsive design - primarily because the methods are evolving
constantly. It is very easy to happen upon an out of date article, which
is probably how Adobe developed their Fluid Grid monstrosity
But if you have a problem with a particular page, you really need to
post a link to a live page or it will be nearly impossible for anyone to
    help you.

  • Why can I export (and import)the different sizes that I put in the "Responsive Design View"?

    Hello
I have troubles when try to import or export the different sizes of the Responsive Design View, I manage at least 13, and it's a little preposterous to add one by one. There are a method that export/import them?
    Thanks

There is a way to store custom settings for responsive design.
You can create custom settings in the responsive design mode window.
You can hold down the Shift key and drag the borders via the (right border, bottom border, bottom right corner) resize icons to get specific dimensions and give the current custom setting a name to add them as a preset.
This will add the preset to the <b>devtools.responsiveUI.presets</b> pref that you can inspect on the <b>about:config</b> page.
Those settings are stored in JSON format.
    <pre><nowiki>[{"key":"360x640","width":360,"height":640},{"key":"768x1024","width":768,"height":1024},{"key":"800x600","name":"8x6","width":800,"height":600},{"key":"800x1280","width":800,"height":1280},{"key":"980x1280","width":980,"height":1280},{"key":"1280x600","width":1280,"height":600},{"key":"1920x900","width":1920,"height":900}]</nowiki></pre>
See this thread for some JavaScript code to add extra sizes:
    *[[/questions/957590]]
You can paste the existing JSON value of the devtools.responsiveUI.presets pref in the prompt and click OK.
Extra values can be added by typing its dimensions (<width>x<height> <name>).
You can paste the resulting JSON value back to the devtools.responsiveUI.presets pref or save it.

  • DW CC Responsive Design and BC tags

    Hi All,
I am going through the recent Adobe tutorials on Responsive design using DW CC and I have a couple of questions.
Has anyone tried setting up a DW CC responsive design for a BC site yet, using the new functionality in DW CC?
Is it OK to insert BC module tags into a design, ie a tag for a menu, and will they work? Or will the BC module javascript clash with the responsive javascript?
Also, the tutorials talk about coding up webpages to be responsive, where I will be wanting to code up a template as being responsive, with the BC tag_pagecontent tag inserted where the content is going to be.
Also with the tutorials so far I am having problems doing the following:
    - inserting two divs inside another div with a large background image and positioning these two divs over this background div.
Anyway, I am continuing to work away at rendering my design into a responsive layout, following the recent Adobe videos.
If anyone else had/is doing the same please let me know how you went.
PS. I am only interested in replies about using DW CC to create a responsive design, as I am not able to hand code that kind of thing from scratch in Notepad. lol!

    Mary,
Have you had a look at using a framework. Responsive frameworks include:
    Twitter Bootstrap - http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/
    Skeleton - http://www.getskeleton.com/
    Foundation - http://foundation.zurb.com/
We had a discussion on Sandpile yesterday about using Frameworks. Recording here: http://experts.adobeconnect.com/p6hmzy2oipt/
Also, Scott did a presentaion on Responsive design : http://experts.adobeconnect.com/p4ryiohpfjs/
    Hope this helps.

  • Black background and white text physically hurts & creates ghosting. Please add UI color toggle.

    Hi,
The new white text on black design physically hurts my eyes and gives very bad ghosting (i.e. persistent image like those in optical illusions that make you stare at particular color combinations and then look away). I know I'm not the only one with this issue because I've researched it in the past. Without an option to switch back to the old design (White background/black text), I'll need to delete my Spotify account and find another service. Please add an option to switch between the two (because I know many prefer black backgrounds). Myself and a host of others, however, cannot use these color combinations. Please let me know if there is a work-around; it would be much appreciated. It's basically unusable to me in it's current state. :(
    ~V

Absolutely agree with the original poster.  I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it.  I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible.  Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age!  I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway.  iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text?  It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.
Thank you for considering this plea!

  • I want Siri on iPhone 4. it can be included technically. please add it in a future ios version. it is an important feature.

    hi,
I want Siri on iPhone 4 as millions of other users, I think.
it can be included technically. please add it in a future ios version. it is an important feature. iPhone 4 was an expensive phone (800$ for me, I have a 32 MB version). it should have it now. low cost Android phone has it.
I am frustrated to not have it.
I like very much apple products (and make a lot of friends and family members buy apple products).
So, Apple should care about users or they will buy go elsewhere.

Apple has already noted several years ago that iPhone 4 is not designed to have siri working on it. All models before iPhone 4S and iPad 3/Air doesn't have the processing power for Siri functionality.

  • If Muse does not support responsive design, can someone tell me why I have seen 100% browser width

If muse does not support responsive design (and therefore cannot adapt to the differing sizes in browser width of different devices, so I understand it) , as I have read on these forums and been told by Adobe's support tech's via chat support, can someone please explain how the 100% browser width slideshows that I have seen on Adobe's featured Site of the Day sites, were acheived? Are these sites only able to display correctly on the same size screen? If I cannot create a site in muse that displays a constant design on a laptop, desktop, or tablet screen, then why should I use this program at all, and why isn't that dislcaimer right up front to save folks like me hundreds of dollars in cloud subscription fees and hours designing a site only to find out that it will look like crap on 2 of the three devices any one uses to view it???? I was sent here for this question by the support team at Adobe. Hopefully someone has a workaround, because Adobe apparently are nonplussed.

  • Animated banners and responsive design

I have noticed many responsive design techniques eliminate the old standby the animated banner. Either you can divide the static elements of the banner so that they stack up as the viewport narrows. Or you could animated one segment of the banner and let that stack up too. Or you could conceivably add 2 or 3 animated banners synchronized and let them all stack up just like the static elements, though this would likely result in slow load times.
Is there another method to incorporating the animated banner in the responsive design (i.e. smartphone size)? Or is it best just to leave it out on screens less than say, 400px?
It seems that not including the animation at all would disappoint people who are expecting it...

Use a responsive rotating banner plugin like jQuery Cycle2.
Then add a custom HIDE THIS button for people who want to turn it off.
    Working example:   http://alt-web.com/FluidGrid/Fluid2.html
Similarly, you can create custom animations with Edge Animate.  To make it responsive, use a Fluid stage.
