Please advise, configuration of BI ivews for report query in EP 7

Hi folks,
I'm a basis guy and I'm rookie in BW.
Currently, I'm performing SP 21 upgrade test. (to fix the IE 8 compatibility issue of EP advised by OSS).
I did the upgrade test successfully for both EP and BI server.
However, the BI ivews fail to display pages after the NW EP7 upgrade from SP12 -> SP21)
I didn't make any change on config or setting after upgrade.
Then I read some notes and thread on SDN, I think the system is using something like BEx and application integrator for the ivew.
I checked that all the iviews for BW reporting in my EP version is set as " SAP BW NetWeaver" (NW7).
Finally, i found one solution to get my ivews work again..can display the page, reading content from BI server.my solution is
in Portal -> Portal Content -> iviews -> choose corresponding ivew--> and remove the value of field "system" and left it blank.
(The orginal value is set as SIDCLNTXXX , and I think it is matching to the "Alias" found in system objects
in Portal -> System Config -> systemlandscapes --> object - SAP_BW)
So ..i wonder and feel strange why the iviews dont need the system object value to work??
Can someone explain it for me? Is it normal?
One more scenario:
If I only have the BI Server upgrade to SP21 and keep EP as SP12.
The iview works with no problem.
And any good and direct way for me to test the function , BEx? or something? to make sure the EP and BI connection is working properly after upgrade?
I tried the connection test for the system object - SAP_BW (via system configuration -> system object) passed with no error.

More info: i tested the BI server : SICF - > SAP BW>BEx --> service test, can load page with no problem.
And as i said, if the EP didn't upgrade to SP12 but only BI ...the ivew work..so i think it is not the problem from BI server?

Hello All, I have created a small set of reports which need to be generated from a Java application.The Crystal Reports configuration was relatively easy for the parameters as you have control over their names but is this also the case in Business Objects. For some reports I have created parameters linked to a user prompt. What would the parameters name be that I should use in the Java application.Is this then just the prompt text or should we use e.g. a number e.g parameter 1,.. Kind Regards,

Hello Christof,If you're referring to the Crystal Report parameters via code, then you would refer to them by their parameter name, and not their prompt string.I note that, with BusinessObjects (now called Desktop Intelligence), prompts were referred to by their prompt string.Sincerely,Ted Ueda

How use parameters on a html region for report query region

Hi all.
I have created a number of report regions which initially query some data.
The requeriment now is to have a date range (initial and final) and use this range as a parameter for report queries.
i created a new region containing these two date values. Now i need to:
- Give this date fields and initial value: say first and last day of current month.
- Perform a validation to ensure initial date is less or equal to final date.
- And most importantly, i need to reexecute the queries based on this date range.
How do i do it...?

32k Rowsize Limit (ORA-006502) for Report Query Shared Objects in Apex 4.1

We're trying to move legacy reports off of PlanetPress into Apex. One of the report queries has over 20 tables and attempting to run with the "Test Report" button in the Edit Report Query screen gets the error message:
Error ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
This problem appears to have been characterized previously here:
Listener Error - character string buffer too small (ORA-06502)
If I comment out 13 lines/items in my SELECT clause, the Test Report runs okay. If I add back in an innocuous literal sellect of a 100-character string, it goes back to the 6502 error.
I was trying to add more literal strings to force APEX to shift internally from a 32k-limit to a CLOB for the row, however, with a 32k literal string in my SQL statement, APEX crashes. I can't strip out columns from my SQL as all are needed for the report.
I would very much appreciate a work-around or a patch to Apex 4.1 to address this limitation. Thank you.

Try moving some of your select logic into a view, thus you can select from the views and reduce your code... (Move the joining between tables and such to the view..)

I have been having troubles like BSOD, NETIO.sys and computer crashes evey 5minutes.
it is now stable without any problems and only the sound driver refuses to install.

Another thing you can try is to be connected to the internet. Click on the audio controller in the device manager. Click on the Driver tab. Click on Update Driver and select the automatic search.
Sometimes W7 will pull down a driver from the Windows Update site.
If the above 2 suggestions don't work, try this driver which seems to be the same as the Vista one, but for Windows 7.

The environment ids you can choose yourself and you have to put them in there yourself too (here I put two environments for two different applications "1" and "2").
If you call a report from Forms, then you have to code something like
ADD_PARAMETER(p_list,'ENVID',TEXT_PARAMETER,'APP1');
Details depend on how you call your reports, my example is for using a parameter list and calling a report out of application1

Try searching for the name of one of your rentals on the iPad's spotlight search screen (pull down the centre of the home screen in iOS 7, swipe your first home screen to the right in iOS 6 and below), type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app via the taskbar and then re-open it and see if they play : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Videos app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

1. How to create tcodes for report painter report
2. We have to transport those tcodes from DEV server to production and client numbers are different, will the transaction codes work when we promote to different server.

What are the settings for clearing history when Firefox closes?
Make sure that you do not clear the Browsing Cache as that will remove the thumbnails that are stored in it.

Enhancement Req (v4.0): Report Query- Output Format- Derive from Item

Brief Introduction
I have 1 major request I would like to make (and 2 lesser ones). The first, I would like to specify custom available output formats for 'Report Query' objects, as well as Reports Regions, Interactive Reports, etc. I believe that this could easily be an instance setting in the Report Server region of the internal workspace, or per workspace / application. Even if not supported on the system wide level, I would recommend that the "Derived from Item" output format "Return Value" be allowed to be returned unaltered to the Report Server. I know that the type is returned as "_xf", and for my purposes I would REALLY like to be able to get something other than the defaults.
Use Case
I am creating a custom JasperReports integration (for which I will be launching a public SaaS beta extremely soon). It uses the standard Apex reporting objects (Queries, Layouts, Print Buttons, etc). JasperReports templates are uploaded as Report Layouts and everything works fine. I am, however, wanting to implement as many output formats as are available to me in Jasper...that means Word 07, Excel 07, ODS, ODT, etc. For the items that take a print server override I can handle this in other ways (even though this appears broken [see below]), but for the standard report queries this isn't available. I would basically like the option to define the set of available output formats for the report server, and what the "_xf" returned for each one is.
Minor Requests
- Replace Uploaded Templates: If a template is used often and updated, then it has to be changed everywhere...minor irritation.
- Customize Report Server URL for the Workspace or Application: For SaaS instances, workspace developers may license or have access to reporting solutions that are not (and should not be) available to all of the Oracle instance's workspaces, or may conflict with a service that is already provided by the instance administrators.
Broken
When I use the print server override, with the "Use Headers From" option, it appears that neither my content type, nor my content disposition headers are being sent back to the client. This is the work around solution for the non-standard types issue I am requesting enhancement on, so I would like to know what I can do to get this working immediately.

This run perfectly in sql developer, toad, and even inside publisher if I login directly to publisher to create report.
Generating this same query in shared component query builder and testing it returns no data found. If I remove the last line, it works. but with the last line, it return no data found. It seems no one has been able to provide solution to this issue

Mail configuration in shared services for Workspace/Web A Reporting purpose

I have configured SMTP Mail Server name in the shared services but still not able to send HFR and Web analysis reports through email.
When I click on Email Link in WOrkspace on a particular report, getting below error:
Enter the user email address in Hyperion Shared Services, Ask your Administrator to update your email address listed through Hyperion Shared Services.
What needs to be done to avoid this issue? do I need to enter user's mail ids in Admin mail field in Shared services configuration page. If yes, how can I enter all user id', i mean, any comman's or some delimiters in between mail id;s.
Please advise me on this..

There are also the .properties files that have to the SMTP server name as well. I know for FR it is in the FR_global.properties file.
