Please ask Adobe to re-think upgrade options for Suite owners

I have sent emails, called and tweeted this same message and I hope you will too:
Adobe please stop locking us into Suites. Please let us upgrade from a suite to an individual product if we choose.
I own CS3 Design Standard and I only want PS CS5 and AI CS5. I don't need all the other programs that come with the suite and I can save over $100 by purchasing them separately at upgrade prices.
As it stands now, I will not be upgrading to CS5 because of this policy--it is too expensive.
If you are in the same position, please let Adobe know that they are losing sales due to this policy.

I disagree with you but I understand your feelings. This has been discussed since Adobe introduced the suites in 2003.
If you have a CS3 suite, you might want to read through this article on my website which might help you save a few bucks on the suite upgrade.

Although I am not personally interested in updating a single program from a suite, I believe it could be in Adobe's best interest to do so.
Adobe could handle a single or two 'suite' program update to the individual programs in exactly the same way they handle a cross platform exchange/upgrade, i.e. one relinquishes all claim to the original suite by certifying that it has been destroyed and is issued the 'upgrade' in a full package.  With a single program or even a two program 'upgrade' of this sort from the 'suite' of programs Adobe would have income they may not otherwise receive and the customer is happy.  If it were a three or more single program upgrade then updating the suite would generally be cheaper--as it should be--that's what suites were designed for.
I agree that updating without relinquishing the original suite is not in Adobe's best interest for several reasons.

  • Upgrade Options for ENVY dv6-7366ez

    Hello.
I bought an ENVY dv6-7366ez notebook and I like to know the upgrade options for it (GPU, CPU, Display, Optical Drive). Here in Hungary I tried to contact with the official Hungarian HP support but they didn't have any information.... They said that the HP HQ don't share any information about it with them, but as i saw that's not true because i see many topics in the forum... Just not for my new/old notebook... So  like to know which CPUs and GPUs are compatible with my notebook and what are the display and optical drive upgrade possibilities.

    Hi,
The following link shows specs of your machine:

Page #1 of manusl #1 shows a list of CPU's supported.
You can upgrade RAM to 16Gb and MAY BE able to upgrade CPU. Other than that you may consider buying a new machine, could be cheaper.

  • Any "discounted upgrade" option for new Acrobat 9 buyers when X is released?

I'm looking at buying Acrobat and as of right now, I notice that Adobe's website is only promoting the pre-ordering of version X (I can't even find an option to buy version 9 on here but can find it on Amazon and stuff).
I need to purchase a version of the software ASAP, but I'm just wondering:  If I were to buy 9 now (right before release of X) is Adobe going to have an upgrade option that will allow me to upgrade to X without having to pay full price for the software?  I'm looking at getting the highest level option (the $800 one).
Hopefully I posted this in the right section of the forum...
    Thanks.

    Thank you, George.
So, in other words, that means if I buy now through Amazon, I won't get the upgrade option (since it's a 3rd part site), despite the new release announcement, correct?
Is there a link anywhere on Adobe to buy version 9 now so I do qualify for the X upgrade?  I can't seem to find one...

  • Upgrade options for my new old Power Mac G4?

So I just got a free Power Mac G4 MDD. It has dual G4 1.25 GHz cpus, 2 GB RAM, 4x80 GB Seagate Cheetah SCSI hard drives in RAID 0, Airport wireless, 2 Super drives, and a Geforce4 Ti 4600 GPU. It has a fresh install of Tiger, and I am wondering what upgrades are available for it; it feels smooth most of the time, but high res videos on youtube are pretty much unwatchable. I have done some research of my own, and I found a few pci-x cards that look useful, like for SATA ports, Firewire 800, usb 2.0, etc. I have also read about cpu upgrades up to 1.8 Ghz, and that it is possible to flash a pc graphics card to work on a mac, but all of the examples I've seen are with PCI Express graphics cards. Should I get the Sata card and use faster hard drives? Is there, in your experience, a good graphics card upgrade for my PowerMac? Is there a CPU upgrade faster the 1.42 GHz that I can get, and where? And what about overclocking my cpu? I got this for free, and I am willing to pay a few hundred dollars to upgrade it. I know its pretty old, but fixing up and upgrading old computers to there best is a hobby of mine.

Should I get the Sata card and use faster hard drives?
PCI or PCI-X controllers provide for good perfomance with SATA drives.
The Firmtek Seritek cards have excellent compatibility, are bootable to connected drives, and will help provide performance beyond that possible with ATA drives on the native bus.
BTW, PCI-X cards are backwards compatible to PCI.
Is there, in your experience, a good graphics card upgrade for my PowerMac?
The three best options for a MDD are a flashed Radeon 9800 XT, Radeon X800XT (flashed FireGL X3) or flashed Geforce 7800 GS.
If one upgrades to Leopard, the FireGL/X800 is best.
In Tiger, the 7800 GS is best.
Is there a CPU upgrade faster the 1.42 GHz that I can get, and where?
Sonnet used to make one (MDX Duet), but you'll be hard pressed to find one on eBay or such.
IMHO, overclocking the 1.42 GHz processor to 1.58 GHz provides for a much more powerful machine.
Heck, even at 1.42 GHz, the 7445 processor and 2 MB L3 cache are stronger, overall, than the 7447 processor used in the MDX Duet.
And what about overclocking my cpu?
    http://bitsandpieces.info/Multipliers.htm
OC'ing the MDD adds to heat issues.
There are some great mods like this one:

  • When Windows 8 comes out, will there be an upgrade option for current TouchSmart owners?

I just read a little bit about Windows 8 and noticed it was a very touch oriented OS. Once HP adapts their TouchSmart line to this new OS, will they offer a way for current owners to upgrade to Windows 8 and the (presumably) new TouchSmart software?

    See subject

Thanks for your feedback. Are you wanting to search across multiple PDF documents, or are you using a collection or portfolio (a single document with multiple documents embedded).
We don't support search across multiple documents for either of these cases, but it would help to know what you are requesting.

  • Upgrade options for Production Premium CS5 (Education license)?

    Hello,
I purchased Production Premium CS5 late last year with an education license because I used my credentials as a college professor. Now that CS5.5 is out, what are my options, if any, for an upgrade to Production Premium CS5.5? I'm purely a casual user and don't plan to make a living with the Adobe software.
    Thanks in advance!
    Nick

Educational versions can be upgraded to Commercial versions. Usually, it is cheaper to purchase a new education license.

  • I/O Backplate upgrade option for MSI Big Bang X79

Is there anyway to purchase a padded MSI I/O Motherboard backplate? EVGA makes a really nice I/O padded backplate for their EVGA X79 FTW Motherboards so i was hoping MSI had it available has an optional purchase or upgrade? The padding is on the back side where the motherboard presses against the I/O backplate inside the case.
Also, my brand new retail box set did not come with the M-Connectors has shown. Should i contact MSI via support and have then ship a kit to me free?

The padding does nothing useful, other than look nice.
Same goes for the M-Connectors, I don't find them that useful, maybe they would be for people constantly changing mainboards in their case, but the front-panel connectors can still be directly connected to the pin-headers. If you lived in the UK, I'd happily post you mine!

  • Upgrade Options for Internal Hard Drive on dv2000t Laptop (Installation Problems)

I need to replace a failed hard drive in my 2006 dv2000t laptop.  The drive I'm replacing was already a replacement drive from the original 80GB drive that shipped with laptop.  That first replacement 3 years ago (2008) was a 200GB drive, that worked well for about 3 years.  But it just crashed (apparently).  I was getting some "S.M.A.R.T" imminent drive failure warnings a week prior, and then it finally would no longer boot-up.  Subsequent tests on the extracted drive show it as having many failed sectors.
I had no problem ordering a replacement drive the first time in 2008, restoring an Acronis backup image of original drive, installing it, etc.  All went smoothly in 2008.   So I assumed all would go smoothly again for yet another replacement and upgrade.
In 2008 the drive I ordered was a W.D. (Western Digital, sticking with the same brand as original) 2.5-in 5400rpm SATA drive (200GB).  That was a SATA (I) drive (1.5 Gbit/s interface).
The first drive I recently ordered (Mar 2011) was a W.D 2.5-in 7200rpm 500GB SATA II (3.0 Gbits/s interface) drive (from W.D.'s "Scorpio Black" line.)   Got the drive, burned the disc image to it, and popped it into the laptop.  Unfortunately, upon startup, and after BIOS screen, all I get is a black screen with a fast flashing white cursor at the top of the screen.  Drive apparently is not being recognized by the computer?  Then I did some reading in a few on-line forums and found some references about this laptop not doing well with drive capacities over 320GB, nor with 7200rpm drives (because they run hotter than 5400 drives).  And finally, references to the SATA interface speed.  I ordered a 2nd drive, this one from W.D's "Scorpio Blue" line, this time a 5400rpm 320GB drive (but still SATA II).  Same story, still won't work.  So I decided that maybe the issue was the SATA speed.  So I found someone who still had an older SATA (1.5 GBit/s) W.D. drive in stock .  It's a W.D. SATA 250GB (no longer made).  It should arrive in a couple days -- and I'm hoping this one works!
I would like to get some kind of confirmation about the blinking white cursor on the black screen on start-up.  Is that typicalif the system not finding a bootable hard drive?  Also, is this SATA vs. SATA-II issue a likely cause of my problem?   I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the new drives themselves, and the restored images on them , as the drives will mount and are accessible when I plug them in as external drives on my other computer.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I have been able to solve my own hard drive installation problems.  It turns out that there were no issues with any of the new replacement drive(s) I ordered (thinking I had ordered drives with the wrong specs).  The solution to the problem was a simple one.  The restored drives were not booting because there was no MBR (Master Boot Record) on the drives after disc image restoration.
I am using Acronis True Image Home 2011 as my disc imaging (backup) software.  And I just didn't understand how to properly restore backed up images to a new hard drive.  I had done everything correctly except that I had not checked the box to "restore MBR" -- at the time not understanding what that was or its significance.  Once I checked that box, and reimaged the new drive, it worked fine.

  • Upgrade Options for My MacBook Pro?

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009). I recently purchased a game and noticed it lags a lot. I was wondering what options there are for upgrading my mac. Can I upgrade processors, graphics cards, add more RAM? And if not, are there any other options to get my game to play properly without having to buy a new macbook? All comments are much appreciated

OWC are reputable suppliers of memory and hard drive upgrades to the Mac community.
Just find your model MacBook Pro on their website and select the upgrades you need/want.
Both RAM and hard drive upgrades are user serviceable parts and easy to perform. Just need a Philips-00 screwdriver and T6 Torx tool.
OWC has detailed installation videos to guide you.
OWC also have toolkits for use with your Mac.

  • Print to Adobe pdf does not give option for .pdf file

I recently installed Acrobat X Pro.  I have a 10-page pdf document open in Acrobat.  I want to eliminate the first page and save the other 9 in another file. In previous versions, I would select Print and then select the printer "Adobe PDF".  When I do this now, the Save As File Type gives me only one choice - All Files *.* - which is useless.  If I am in any other application the Save As File Type comes up .pdf. I don't think it is the installation, because I installed this on my desktop and laptop and it is doing the same thing in both of them.  The operating system for both computers is Windows 7 64-bit.  What can I do to fix this?  Is it just a matter of changing a setting that I am not aware of?  Thank you in advance to anyone who will help.

For Acrobat X I went to Tools - Pages - and the delete choice was grayed out.  I thought I could get the same result by using the Print to Adobe PDF command.  From any other application I can print to Adobe PDF, just not in Acrobat.  Does Acrobat X not let you do this, or is it just on mine?  And if it is only on mine, what do I do to fix it?  By the way, I am able to delete pages from other documents, just not the particular document I am currently working with.
    Any other suggestions anyone?

  • Upgrade options for OS 10.2.8?

I have a flat panel imac with 256mb of memory, an 800 mhz processor and OS 10.2.8. I've been informed that I can upgrade to Tiger, but my computer is too slow to upgrade to Leopard. Do I need to buy the Panther upgrade before I can install the Tiger upgrade, or will installing Tiger alone cover me?
    thank you!

    Welcome To  Discussions zooty05!
    Here is some additional info.
As Texas Mac Man posted, Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased, sometimes less expensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, AllMac, etc.
This is the correct one Mac OS X 10.4.6 Tiger, (DVD) Retail at FastMac.
    And at HardCore Mac.
Notice, both are more expensive, than The Apple Store (U.S.).
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
    Tiger is on DVD.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

Once Tiger 10.4.x is installed, you can use the PPC 10.4.11 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.

  • Upgrade options for WebLogic server 6.1

Is it better to upgrade from WebLogic server 6.1 to 7.0 first then go
to 8.1 or just go straight to 8.1? Has anyone ran into issues with
8.1 already and would have been better off staying with 7.0 until the
service pack for 8.0 comes out this July?

I'm biased since I work on the product, but I'd highly recommend going
straight to 8.1. We spent most of our time in WLS-land between 7.0 and
8.1 working on usability and stability of the server. I think you'll
find it's a very nice and solid upgrade, and it gets you to JDK 1.4.
I migrated several customer applications during our beta period. The
migration from 6.x or later to 8.1 is pretty straightforward.

  • Photoshop / Indesign Upgrade Options for Educational Version

Will I be able to upgrade the following eduction versions to CS3 versions?
    - Photoshop 7.01
    - InDesign 2.02
I'm purchasing a new MacBook Pro and apparently these are not supported by Leopard. What I'd like to do is install my current versions and upgrade to the latest version.
Is this covered under the $199/ea upgrade?

All Adobe upgrade are FULL installers; they are just programmed to prompt you for the old serial number if they don't find it on your drive. Previous versions are NOT necessary, but don't interfere either.
If you use Image Ready at all, you should be aware that Image Ready is gone in CS3, so you might want to keep CS2.
