Please assist I have lost undo datafile

Hi ,please advice me ,the filesystem that contantain undo datafile is lost while the database is was down for OS maintenance,now when I have to start database I found that undo datafile is lost and they can't even see it from OS side,how can I start the database.

Lost Undo datafile

We lost the only datafile of the undo table space. (can not recover this file)
Is there any way we can recover the database?

select SEGMENT_NAME,STATUS,TABLESPACE_NAME from dba_rollback_segs;
is the above query produces any status = 'NEEDS RECOVERY'?
If not, you can simply, create another undo tablespace, alter the undo_tablespace parameter witht he new tablespace. Finally, drop the previous undo tablespace.

Please Help - I have lost 6 months of photos after a HD failure

Hi - my Hard Disk on my MacBook Pro died on me a few days ago. I have had it replaced and was lucky enough to have a Time Machine backup of my laptop. EXCEPT when I launch iPhoto, the only library it can find is from February!!!
Does anyone know what might have happened? I can;t find a newer library anywhere - including from the Tie Machine backup.
Have I lost my photos?

As I had to Time Machine restore my entire HD, iPhoto included, I don't know if it as checked prior to my crash or not. When I opened up iPhoto (after the TM restore on my new HD) I was immediately asked to locate the library. For whcih I could only find one dated Feb 08.
Havin check the prefs, the library is definitely a managed one as the box is checked yet this may well be a default setting. So I suspect, unless anyone else can suggest otherwise, that I must have had a referenced library and TM has not obviously saved ANY reference alias'.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should work : go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use.

I'm not sure if that would work, but just give it a shot.
Don't only hold the home button and the wake/sleep button down till it resets,
try holding it down for about 30-40 seconds.
This time it should not just reset. You just have to make sure it's long enough. You will see ;-)
But then, you will have to put everything back on it again.
Better than having no access, I guess ;-)

what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

Hi,
Database is 10.2.0.4
I m planning to drop my undo datafile ..im falling short of space on server
I have 2 undo datafiles in different mount points. First one is 10GB and second one is 2 GB
Can i go ahead...i hope there is no risk in dropping second undo file...

Create a new undo tablespace
switch database to then new undo tablespace
drop the old one undo tablespace
Don't drop just one datafile. undo tablespace is in use as Your db is in use and probably some activity is going there.

HELP! Without any prompting for such a download, Firefox tells me 'Thank You for choosing Firefox 4', & I have lost ALL of my bookmarks! I absolutely need to restore them, please please help. Not impressed at all!

I am shellshocked.... so far I am not happy with Firefox's latest effort. When I first got this version, my 'saved tabs' function did not work, which I use regularly, and I lost vital site information with the update. I figured out how to fix this by changing a setting, and figured my problems were over.
But NOW without any prompting from me, Firefox re-opened, having lost the tabs I had, yet again, and instead opened up two new tabs, 'Welcome to FireFox' (ty for choosing firefox4), and 'Mozilla Firefox Start Page', AND I have lost all my bookmarks!, WTF! Please help me to restore them, I have tried the help info provided, but they are still not restored :( Some of those treasured bookmarks, an extensive list, I will never get again, unless I can restore the ones I had. :( NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

I have lost my Safari url bar ,tried view/customise toolbar but when box opens there is no address bar to drag back can anyone help please

I noticed a couple of days ago that my url bar on my imac was no longer there,I am new to the apple community and I am not sure how to progress with my qustion. I have tried selecting :- view / customise toolbar but the dropdown box which has various options to drag and drop does not show the address bar I am stuck can you help

So it appears you have only one library on the hard drive. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed to that library:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
