I was under the impression that having a journal would be safer, not just for the boot drive. Any volume that is not properly unmounted before removed (or the couputer is turned off) might be left in an incomplete save state, since data might have been saved to buffers only, not to the disk proper.
To me safer would be better. Apple has added journaling to HFS+ which is good, and there are several journaling file systems for Linux. Nothing in common. Not even with Windows. I guess I will have to use HFS+ with the journal turned off, but it seems suboptimal to me.

How can you share a large (HUGE) video?

I created a 1:07:21 iMovie that is comprised of 3 short videos (20 seconds each) and LOTS of photos with an audio track of music. I was able to make a DVD of the iMovie but I have not been able to share it on You Tube or any other site. I have accounts with You Tube that will let me upload very large video files, but it's still not working. Any suggestions? My goal is to share the higher quality iMovie v. the DVD that has lower quality pictures (i.e. not HD). Thanks!

If you are uploading directly from iMovie and that doesn't work try just exporting your project to a format and then uploading it to the YouTube site.

How do you share video with Lion?

Hi.
I am having a very hard time trying to figure out how to share video that I've taken with my iPhone, synced to my iPhoto and sharing it on with my mobile me gallery. iPhoto will let me make a new album and upload it to the gallery but then it no longer gives me the option of "sharing" the link via an email. Sooo do I have to do it manually? Copy the web address and send it out with name and password myself?
While I'm on the subject, does anyone know the plan re: the gallery? How can we share our videos (and photos) privately? This one of a few things that disappoints me about the cloud! Is there a petition to Apple not to get rid of gallery?

First question, you would have to re-publish to get the link in a nice "share" button.
But I think it would be easier to go to your gallery (on the web not iphoto) click on the video/album you want to share and at the top near the center click on "tell a friend"
I hope this answers the first question.

I suspect the JOIN syntax might be different.
Any reason why you're running SQL Server on live, and Access on dev? You're making a bit of a rod for yourself there.

Can you share/export HD video as SD 4x3?

After editing HD video using FCPX, can you adjust settings when you share (export) to make a ProRes SD 4x3 720X480 video? Without using Compressor? Can you edge crop the video in the same step?

Easiest way is to create a 480 project; copy the t080 timeline and paste it into the 480 project. It will be letterboxed because of the different aspect ratios. If you don;t want letterboxing, use transform>scale to fill the screen or spatial conform – in the Inspector. (I prefer transform, because with scale and position I have more control over framing.)
