Please Bring Thinkpad 8 z3795 w/ 4GB RAM & 64 bit Win OS to the USA

Lenovo,
Please bring the latest versions of the Thinkpad 8 to the USA.  Or at the very least, please let us place "special oders" for these tablets from within the USA.
I have already looked at my options of placing orders for these TP8 tablets in the UK and then importing them to the USA via companies like Borderlinx, but the entire process appears to be a hassle due to the time it would take to receive the order.
Can someone at Lenovo just help place an order for us?  Is there a relaunch of the TP8 coming to the US?

Well,Myself I am using it with the universal mobile keyboard from microsoft (With this keyboard and its stand,it feels much more like a convertible) , a touchmouse T630 from Logitech and a bamboo stylus fineline pen, but i did wish the keyboard came with a trackpad of some sort. With quickcontrol your phone can act as a trackpad and input keyboard.
At home, i have a i-tec usb 3.0 desktop station with hdmi/dvi port to a 27 inches monitor and ethernet but i generally use the built in micro hdmi port of the tablet since the output is that much better.
What i am saying is that for using this tablet as a desktop solution you end up adding extra which is given on any laptop.
Windows is hard enough to use in desktop mode with 8 inches tablet, i do not how 7" would work without a wacom stylus or without full "Metro UI"
I am well aware of the limitations of this tablet and if they had not released their Y-USB 3.0 cable i would not have bought it.
Now it is a good enough all in one solution but i do think one could be much happier with a cheaper tablet and a desktop solution(laptop or full blown up PC) and for a similar price

  • I have a brand new MacBook Air 11 inch, 4gb RAM and 256 gb SSD where the screen flickered abnormally and got dead all of a sudden while uploading a photograph in FB. Can anybody help?

I have a new MacBook Air 11 inch, 4gb RAM, 256 SSD and use Mavericks OS. It is still under waranty period.
Just few days ago while I was uploading a photograph in facebook, the screen started flickering abnoromally. I tried using the escape button but nothing was working so switched off by pressing the power button.
After few minutes I tried to switch it on but my system never waked up. Called up the Apple Support, did SMC and PRAM but nothing worked. Then I was advised to take it to Apple's authorised service centre.
At the service centre the engineers diagnoised and then said that the MLB/mother board needs to be replaced. Had waited for six-long days and today they had replaced the MLB/mother board. Now, the system came to life but nothing has booted. The screen goes white and a '?' question mark icon keeps on flickering.
After thoroughly diagnoising it the engineer said that now the problem is with the SSD and the worse thing is all my important documents and photographs etc are no more there. And I don't have a backup of the same!
While Apple Support contact centre is assuring they would replace any other parts if found faulty, but I feel differently. First, the MLB/mother board was changed now they say it is SSD problem - so if the SSD too is replaced there are possibilities of more faults coming up. All I can see and feel that this particular machine has turned out to be architectually deffective that calls for immediate replacement.
Right now I am using a friend's windows pc to write this mail.
Feeling completely miserable - all my expectatations gone after investing in such an expensive machine, loss of all my data, wastage of time and energy and to top it all affecting my daily work.
Can anybody please advise what shall I do?

Take the system to an Apple store to be fixed or replaced as the one you have has defective hardware.

  • Does T400 can only work with up to 4GB RAM?

Does T400 can only work with up to 4GB RAM?
    Here (http://support.lenovo.com/en_NO/product-and-parts/detail.page?DocID=PD005598), it says 512 MB, 1 GB, 2GB, or 4GB memory.
So if more than 4GB RAM, will it do harm to the hardware of T400? Or just only 4GB will be used, and no any harm?

That doc was probably written when there were not 4GB DIMMs available, or at least being commonly used. T400 will work with any combination of 1GB, 2GB and 4GB DIMMs, up to 8GB total. I tried single 8GB DIMM and it didn't work

  • Upgrading a dv6000 to 4gb ram

    Hi there,
I have just dug out my old HP and would like to get a few programs running that are not available on Mac. Most of them need 4gb ram however and my laptop, according to Crucial's system scanner can only support 2gb. I am no expert on upgrading a laptop and need to know the easiest way to enable my computer to accomodate 4gb ram. Would it involve swapping the motherboard, if so what is a good, cost effective alternative? Thanks
edit: more info on my laptop...
    This question was solved.

Your processor is a 32 bit processor so you will not be able to fully utilize 4 gigs of RAM even if you could install it. The first thing to do is update the BIOS to the latest version:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-90466-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
I assume the laptop still has Windows Vista on it which is good becasue you should not try to install the BIOS update from Windows 7.
I do know that the dv6000 series will take 3 gigs of RAM, but not 4 for some reason. So you can buy a 2 gig and a 1 gig and they will work. If the programs you want to run really require 4 gigs I am afraid that laptop cannot supply it.

  • What happens if I put a 2 gb and 4gb ram chips in my macbook?

I currently have 2X2gb ram sticks in my laptop and I now have an extra 4gb ram sticks which is identical to the 2gb(except its a 4gb, everything else is identical including manufacturer) that can from my mac mini which had a failure of the other stick. So, will I lose performance, keep the same or get a slight boost. Thanks.
    Specs:
    Macbook Late 2009
    max ram 8gb
    DDR 3 1066 204 pin
    2 sticks of 2GB
    adding 4 GB with 1 2GB

Check the specifications for your computer here - http://support.apple.com/specs/ - simply enter in your serial number in the provided search area, and choose your computers specs.  In the ram section, it should tell you if you require "matching" ram slick.  Most computers do.

No, I do not use Windows.
I tested with different versions of the Linux operating system and Unix (opensolaris, openindiana).
    > Fact is that BIOS has recognized the full 4GB RAM. The chipset seems to support the 4GB RAM as well.
Yes, even the technical documentation on the chipset is confirmed, but nevertheless, 1 gigabyte had disappeared. : (

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life) bought in October 2010. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all.
Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it!
I need to know which one I need - 45w, 60w and 80w are listed - can someone tell me please? If I'm going to pay this price I want to make sure I get the right one!
Also, is a genuine Apple one available on Amazon UK, does anyone know please?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Meanwhile my battery is going down.....

Thanks for that wjosten. Much appreciated.
I've read here on Apple's site that the 85W version will work, as you say, and that it would run cooler with a 13" Macbook - I have a 13" MBP of course but assume this would be the same with mine. I wonder if running cooler is a good thing (it sounds as if it is) and it would be better for me to get the 85W version than the 60W one?
Then I have to decide whether to pay the (extortionate as it seems to me, though I may be wrong) £65 from Apple (bearing in mind the rotten reviews here of the Apple product), or risk a cheaper alternative from Amazon UK, at around £20 (also with various rotten reviews)... Any suggestions? Please? :-)

  • I inserted my new 8gb 4x4 RAM but when i boot up the computer and choose this computer it only says that i have 4gb ram inserted and the computer isn't faster then with 2gb!? please help me! I have a MBP from 2009

Improperly seating memory is the curse of everyone, even experts.  No one wants to "break" the memory or the slot by pushing too hard.
So, try again.  Push maybe *just a twinge* harder to seat the memory (just a twinge).
As to speed ... memory mainly lets you keep more things active concurrently.  Unless you were severely overtaxing your old memory and causing huge "Page Out" counts, only faster HD makes huge speed increases.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Shows only 3GB instead 4GB RAM

    Hi,
2 years ago I got a Satellite Pro A200 as a business notebook and it runs with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB it shows 2 GB of memory in Windows - and I know it has a Radeon 7500 with 256MB of individual graphic memory, and it has no shared memory.
I upgraded it to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and the ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible in XP 32 bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems I have seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.
So where is the memory? It looks like a bug - the memory chips have both 2 GB I have verified this. Because it is a company notebook I can't just upgrade to XP 64 bit :-(
In the BIOS are no options - first I thought it's the graphic card, but mine has independant graphics with own memory so the computer comes up with 2048 MB or 4096 after the upgrade.
Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM to the OS like my private EEEpc.

First of all 32bit OS (no matter if its XP, Win 2003 R2, Vista or Win 7) will not recognize 4GB RAM but only 3.2GB (and not 3.7GB)
I have no idea where you looked for available RAM but you should run DXDIAG in RUN.
Then you should get some details and also the available RAM.
Secondly the graphic card supports Local cache (256MB) and HyperMemory.
HyperMemory of the graphic card depends on the available main RAM memory.
For example the unit supports 1024MB RAM (1GB) then the hyper memory would be 256MB this part of RAM would be shared with graphic card!
This is the reason why the only 3GB are shown...

  • Poor performance when multitasking on T510, Core i5, Windows 7 64, 4GB RAM, NVidia Optimus 512MB

I'm saddly disappointed with my new Lenovo performance and don't know what might be the cause.
I just got a new T510 with Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and Windows 7 64. When I run a couple of programs, like Photoshop, a Virtualbox (850 MB of RAM allocated), Google Chrome with a couple of tabs I get stuck.
It seems that 4GB of memory is not enough for the work I did on a 2GB machine a week ago.
The computer's response time is a couple of seconds for window switching. New programs start counting in minutes. RAM consumption reaches 98%, even though no single program is listed to consume more than a 150MB in either Task Manager or Resource monitor. Aero effects work cool, though, there's no sloppiness in the graphical layer of the system.
Even now, after having Virtualbox killed, remaining processes take up 89% of RAM memory in Resource manager.
I'm working on AC power supply with "Perfomance" power setting, but I can hardly call it a performance.
This is ridiculous, it was supposed to be a fast multitasking machine and it turns out to be a load of junk. I used to work on 2GB, 1.6GHz Celeron with Intel GMA processor, had Ubuntu host and Windows XP guest with 750MB RAM allocated plus a couple of programming tools running and never had such issues _on regular basis_.
I'm considering running a Ubuntu on this machine because I simply can't work this way on Windows 7... I can't even kill a process easily because it takes ages to End a process.
A friend of mine is running similar setup on a T410 machine with slower CPU and poorer graphics and he says this is really strange, because he never had such problems. My PC is new, 4 days since arrival, his is like 2-months old.
Has anyone experienced similar problem? What might be the cause?
At this point I have Chrome with ~10 tabs, empty Firefox, empty Photoshop, Pidgin, and 3 explorer windows running, Adobe Reader with 1 document and Sticky Notes. RAM consumption is 3495MB in use (yeah right), 276MB standby and 113 free.
    What's wrong here?!
    Please see the screenshot attached:
    http://img715.imageshack.us/i/captureybh.png/
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, the issue is solved. After removing bundled Norton Internet Security suite it runs like gold-plated.
I'll get another anti-virus software, then.
Now, even with the Virtualbox running, I still have like 2GB free RAM. And no lags, no slow-downs. Woohoo.
    **bleep** you Norton!

  • Lighting effects not working, 'Could not apply the workspace because there is not enough memory (RAM)' with 4GB RAM?

Tried to use 'render/lighting effects' on 5 more or less new different laptops now. All kind of Window versions.
They all have at least 4GB RAM. The Graphic Card is compatible.
Layer to work on is RGB-Type.
It's all about Photoshop CC 2014, trial version.
When I go to 'Lighting effects' it says first:
'The 3D features require that 'Use Graphics Processor' is enabled in the Performance preferences. Your video card must meet the minimum requirements and you may need to check that your driver is working correctly.'
    - I switched the 'Use Graphics Processor' on and off and restarted new - nothing happens.
    - Video card is compatible.
    Second it says:
''Could not apply the workspace because there is not enough memory (RAM)'
    - RAM on all the computers I tested it with is at least 4GB
    Please help!

We would need to know the amount of Video ram you have. If it is above 512 MB, then check for driver updates.
    Windows OS
    Click Start.
On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open box, type "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. Click the Display tab.
On the Display tab, information about your graphics card is shown in the Device section. You can see the name of your card, as well as how much video memory it has.
Once you know the kind of graphics card you have, visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest driver. Here are links for downloading drivers from the most common graphics card manufacturers:

  • Please bring back the Modern Skype App for x86 devices

The desktop Application is unusable on small tablets, due to its fiddly controls, missing features and extremely high demand of system resources (RAM, CPU, etc.). It's sad to see Microsoft once again neglecting its creations (like you did with Zune). Especially, when theres no logical reason for it (RT users can still use the app, you're just blocking us out - it's the same codebase!). People, let them hear your voice.
