Please change my latency type back to fastpath and...

Hi Team,
I am a BT Total Broadband Option 2 customer and since my local exchange has been updated I have been having internet speed problems.
I used to get approx. 8Mb download, 500Kb upload and ping rates of 20-25ms. This was fantastic for online gaming with little to no lag. We also had a very reliable connection with fastpath latency switched on.
I now get approx. 15Mb download, 700Kb upload and ping rates of 40-100ms. This is unacceptable for online gaming and we also have intermittent connection issues where the broadband service seems to freeze up when searching the web (pages take forever to load).
This is not a peak time issue (traffic) it happens throughout the day (today as an example as I type this email!)
I have called the Broadband help line with no solution so far.
I am on the verge of going the Virgin Fibre optic route as this does not seem to be getting any better any time soon.
Is it possible to change my latency to fast type and reduce bandwidth to stabilise the line?
Regards,
Darren Jackson

I would like to change my latency type from Interleaving to Fast. How would I go about doing so/who do I contact.
I have checked previous threads, but old links on such threads do not work anymore.

Thanks for the quick reply. Things make more sense now. I read up about the DLM and yes apprently it must have changed it over around the time I had a lot of visitors with their laptops and what not. This is just an educated guess here but a lot of resetting of the router went on during their visits, at least once or twice a day for a while now and it's possible THAT is what made the change of the latency setting.
It may be fine if I just advise everyone to not touch it at all and it will change back in a period of time. But just to check because I do know myself that the line and connection was pretty stable even before all this, with a lot better latency (which is what I want the most). Is it possible to force change it back? Thank you.

  • Please change the group behaviour back to the previous one

We've already had this discussion in the long thread that is and was http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Missing-Features-in-the-new-design-preview/m-p/3984842 but there has been no change so far and I still urge the developers to revert back to the previous behaviour where groups had a name and a topic that could be different from one another. This crucial for me and my friends who love to use Skype daily but have to resort to the old version for now as this is just way too annoying to handle. So please, reconsider.

  • Slow Speed after Latency type has been changed

    Hi,
the last few days I have noticed that my broadband speed has gone down hill big time.. according to speedtester.bt.com my DSL connection rate is: 20504kbps (down-stream) and my IP Profile is 18090kbps, but my download speed is 2411kbps which is below the acceptable range for my connection.
I logged onto my BTHH3 and found that my latency type has changed from Interleaved to Fast, I have noticed that my CRC & HEC (down) are much higher than before..
Should I leave it for a few days to see improvment or ask the mods to change the latency type back to Interleaved
    Thanks in Advance

I also re-installed my BT HH2 and that connects using Interleaved as to Fast via BT HH3, while my HH2 is connected I get 15.82mbps via speedtest.net but I keep losing my connection - don't think my HH2 likes 3.7 dB (down) noise margin.. but if I re-connect my HH3 I have a steady connection but 1.6 to 2.2mbps via speedtest.net

  • Latency Type & Changing it

    Hi all...
Just a quick question about interleaving & FastPath, or whatever it's called.
When I first took out my option 3 broadband, I was getting a stable 6.5-7mb -- actually what I was told I'd get when I signed up, which is obviously great -- however two or three weeks later I've been getting a lot of disconnections in online games and ping-spikes.
I've looked around various forums and this one and read a few of other peoples' problems and the suggestions -- off the top of my head; disabling 'N' wireless function, changing channel pref. 11-13, make sure FON is disabled, change to WEP from WPA2, and the list goes on -- but haven't really got anywhere.  However, I've just stumbled across a thread on Hexus.net, a hardware/computing review-type-site, about FastPath and how it could decrease latency due to certain error checking being disabled and that, should you wish to have interleaving disabled and, thus, it enabled, phone BT...
Line stats according to my HH2 Type-A:
Ignore the connection time, was testing channel 12 and it seems my NIC doesn't like it so had to reset to defaults  Prior to that, my line had been up for over 2 days...  Any way, am I right in thinking that interleaving is indeed disabled on my line?  If so, is it just a matter of phoning BT and asking them to re-enable and in however many days it'll take, it'll be back to 'normal'...?  Thing is, I didn't ask for it to be changed in the first place and oh, before I forget, on a side note, FON seems to randomly enable itself, or at least has twice since I've had this broadband; not sure how it disabled the first time but it was on prior to my reset-to-defaults earlier this evening...
    Just for kicks:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2954 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
    Cheers all
EDIT: Only noticed a real problem since last Sunday where my HH updated it's firmware, though, looking at the HH pages now, it seems to have updated again today

Well, it might be wise of me to leave it a few days to see if how it is now (yeah off peak & all) continues...  That would be nice...  Otherwise, I'll cry for a mod to come along
Hope you get your way...  They can't refuse to disable it, surely?
EDIT:  Just for fun, as it's off peak, I thought I'd get something to compare the above result with -- gg, BT... gg:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6663 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.

     Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)

  • BT Infinity - Changing Latency type

    Hello!
I have read a few articles that say that you cant change your latency type from Interleaved to Fast Path with BT Infinity because the modem is in a little white box and not part of the HH.
This is only the case for some people though. I still connect with the telephone wire and not the WAN port. I have always had a brilliant connection (noise wise etc.) and have always hit the theoretic max of my broadband on ADSL2 and now VDSL.
Would I be able to request my latency type be changed to Fast Path (as I assume it isn't that, although you can't tell with modern HH's) as I do not have this seperate modem box?
    Thanks,
    Craig

That's right, you can't. DLM handles the transition automatically.

  • Can't change column data type

Hi, i am using Sybase IQ 16.0
I have created a table, when I want to change one of the data type for a column for example from char to varchar, the list box is grey color and not allow me to change.
Right click table > Properties > Columns > Data Type
I have granted all permission for dba, but still not able to edit. (please see the attached file)
    Any help?
    Thanks.

    Hi Nelson.
You can not change the datatype of an existing column.
The doc reference is here: Altering Tables
"After you create a column, you cannot modify the column data type. To change a data type, drop the column and recreate it with the correct data type."
If you already have data in the column, you can try this:
create the new column with a slightly different name
copy the data in to the new column
    drop the original column
rename the new column to the old column's name.

  • When replacing an .indd on creative cloud, it changes the file-type

I have uploaded a few InDesign (.indd) files from cs5.5 to my creative cloud account so I can share them with my team for approval / feedback. If I try and replace the file with a newer version (still .indd from cs5.5) it changes the file type to octet-stream and it can't be viewed.
Restoring back to the ORIGINAL version brings back the original, as an indesign file, and it is viewable again.
Am I doing something wrong when replacing a file? This seems like the logical way of doing it (they even refer to them as revisions, as that seems to be the point)

My workplace uses CS5.5. I'm in the process of convincing them to move to CC by personally signing up to the month/month plan (however this isn't helping).
I am uploading using Chrome Version 29.0.1547.66 m.

  • Change exchange rate type

    Hi,
How can I change exchange rate type for posting principle flow in case of fixed term deposit. System by default takes M type. I want to change it to S type.Define  I have already changed exchange rate type in calculation indicator and Company Code Additional Data but it doesn't work.
    Thanks

    Hi,
By default the exchange rate type M will only be picked.  The setting you make under calculation indicator is only for securities and loans area.
For you requirement, pls check the note 450171 and see the appropriate place where you have to do the modification.

  • I recovered my back up via a wired connection. now Time Machine does not recognise older back ups wirelessly and wants to do a first back up

I recovered a back up from my time machine via a wired connection after getting the 'white screen of death'. Now Time Machine does not recognise any back ups on the time machine when connected wirelessly and wants to do a first back up of the whole machine. How do I get my mac to recognise these older back ups? It connects to the wifi network the time machine creates fine, with the same name and password.

    I recommend the following.
    1. Reset the TC to factory.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    2. Rename the TC to SMB standard.
That means short names.. 2-20 characters but less than 10 is excellent. eg TCGenx (use number for x that is actual generation of the TC)
    No spaces.
    Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.
    3. Ensure IPv6 is set to link-local..
Do the same thing for ethernet if that is used.
    4. Manually mount the TC disk in Finder.
Use Go in the top menu.. connect to server.
    Type in
AFP://TCname.local (where TCname is your new short name for the TC and local is default domain .. it helps using the domain I found).
You will then find the computer either can or cannot find the network resource.. if it fails something else is wrong with the actual network and you will need to fix that.
It will request the password if it is found.. password is public by default unless you changed it.. type in the password and check to keep it in your keychain.
    5. Delete current TM setup and redo it with the newly named TC.
    See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If your backups cannot be found, try B6 again, now that you actually know that the disk has been properly discovered.
