Please clean up this thread
Justin, please clean out the flames in this thread:
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2395239#2395239
Like I said in my message at the bottom of the thread, anyone who posts insults like these should be banned from posting for a period of time. I would suggest a week.
And unfortunately, the most offensive person posting in the thread posted incorrect information anyway.
Here are some quotes from the thread:
"I don't know why the information I already provided wore out in your brain so quickly.
One would wonder why you would provide it, if it enters one ear and departs from the other ear in a split second."
I would recommend you look in the mirror, notice you look ugly, and find another playground.
And checking his profile, I see he is spewing his flames and insults even today: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=2427899#2427551
I see the threads I referred to have been completely deleted.
Unfortunately, I had posted a message at the end of the one concerning Forms where I corrected the erroneous information. So now both the original poster asking the questions, as well as the offending responder both will not know that the information was wrong.
I was hoping only the offensive posts and the replies to them could have been removed.

A Lot of Question: PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREAD
Hi, I am a 16 year old teen that is about to wait for the right moment to have my dream of starting a youtube channel. Ive done a lot of research comparing how any type of laptop will compare when I record and play my games, because i mostly want to get into gaming youtube channel. Although i might want to do just gaming ive also wanted to do videos of unboxing and music covers. My friend that knows a lot about computers told me that i should get a mac if i want to do mainly editing, or if i want to just game and record i should buy a pc laptop. He recommended that i should buy a laptop from IBUYPOWER that has better specs than that of the mac book pro retina 15" and is cheaper. That moves onto my next question asking why are macs so overpriced? I did all my research on that too, and it most likely seems it is almost a brand name expense like louis vuotton. Next question is, how is the cheapest way I can get the 15" retina mac book pro for the cheapest price possible, should i wait until black friday for sales to lower, or should i wait until the next year to get the next 2015 model. Is the newer progressing years of MacBook pros that much better that i should wait until the next year to get it. Next question, say i wanted to play a game that is only on windows platform, ex. Skyrim. Should i play a cracked version that has been reformatted to the mac, or should i just download windows on my mac so that i can play it with more ease of use that way, instead of having to use everything in the mac side when it was originally formatted for Windows. Anyway thank you for your time, and even if you dont know the answer to these questions, PLEASE ANSWER ANYWAY, THANK YOU!
MacBook Pro with Retina display, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS THREADyellowfelow wrote:

There is no such thing as overpriced. Apple is the most profitable company in the world. It sells all of the Macs it makes - every single one. Not everyone can afford a Mac, but such is life.
I did all my research on that too, and it most likely seems it is almost a brand name expense like louis vuotton.
That is incorrect. According to Forbes, Apple is the #1 most valuable brand, while Louis Vuitton is #10.
Next question is, how is the cheapest way I can get the 15" retina mac book pro for the cheapest price possible, should i wait until black friday for sales to lower, or should i wait until the next year to get the next 2015 model.
Machines may get more powerful every year, but they never get cheaper. You may be able to save more money the longer you wait. If you can't afford a 15" retina, consider a refurbished unit (buy directly from Apple only - see babowa's link), a 13" model, or an Air.
Is the newer progressing years of MacBook pros that much better that i should wait until the next year to get it.
They get better every year. If you wait forever, then the machine you never buy will be infinitely powerful.
There is no such think as a "cracked version that has been reformatted to the Mac". If you want to run Windows software, buy a PC and run Windows. Most people do. You may be able to play that game on a Mac using Bootcamp, but it isn't guaranteed. -
All who replied to my earlier questions please reply to this thread ?

Mac is not overpriced...
You pay for seamless Software/Hardware integration. Superior build and workmanship. And of course the OS X experience.
As far as laptops go I believe apple has the best offerings on the market by a longshot.
I am however not a big fan of buying a Mac and using it with windows... It kind of defeats the point, unless you are a developer, or need it occasionally for certain activities only Windows can perfrom.
You stated you want to however start a youtube gaming channel, I think its better to buy a desktop for this type of activity. Obviously you will game for hours on end if you want to create some sort of feedback/opinion or reviews for different games.
Also you will have to run windows to review the latest and best platforms/games. Many current games are not available on OSX platform. So your review channel would not be very good if you can only review OSX selected games.
That said there could also be a niche on youtube for reviewing exclusively OSX games. I mean you could review different games from the apple app store etc.
It really depends on what you want to do...
There are many good windows based machines too to do this sort of thing... In your case it may be the better option.
There are certainly Windows based laptops that do a much better job in the gaming compartment than a Macbook pro. In fact to play top end games you will need a top of the line 15 inch MBP with Discreet Graphics (Anything else only has Integrated graphics, games still playable, but there are limitations). You can get a much more affordable/powerfull laptop that is Windows based... Or more practically a more affordable and powerful Desktop...
I must however add.
Coming from Windows environment... My first Macbook Pro and OSX experience put all previous windows machines to shame...
I am a very pleased consumer, and personally I am sticking with my macbook pro
Also if a game is not available for MAC. You can't get a "cracked reformated version".... It does not work that way.... It involves serious programming.
You would need to install windows on the MAC

Bfile image problem---please ignore this thread
Hi all,
I am using Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 on x86_64 GNU/Linux .
I am using a table with column bfile datatype. Bfile column links to oracle directory "frameroot" which contains image frames. when i check data of link (bfile) in oracle sql developer it shows the below :
Name : 2009_pre
Data Length : 55044
File Exists : true
Directory aliase : FRAMEROOT
but when i click image option its is giving the below error :
"Image could not be decoded from the binary stream".
As i think sql developer should show the image of the bfile datatype.
I am using oracle sql developer version 1.2.1
Please suggest.
Thanks

2/ No ranges are assigned to doc types, not masters.
It is recommended that you either have your Billing documents as externally assigned so the accounting doc and the billing doc are the same. You need to remember then you can create any docs in Finance only for that Doc type. the same could be for MIRO invoices.
Internal number ranges are where you want Finance to lead it.
3/ Market conditions could affect your asset and so therefore as well as the planned dep through the dep key you may want to increase the dep.

Hi Everyone...I have had this issue for 2 months now and even when I have been talking to apple support team they are unable to fix the problem.
When I try to open my itunes i get the error message -50...I am running the 64 version of the itunes when its working, with my operating system of Windows 7...Apple technical support thought that it might be my anti-virus program - which is systems mechanic pro (an all in one program for cleaning out my computer)
I have tried un-installing and then re-installing, over and over again. I have also tired deleting file and installing older versions and I again get the same error. If anyone has any ideas or solutions that would be greatly appreciated as I have been without my itunes for 2 months - and I'm sure you all can understand that your not able to do anything without this program...PLEASE HELPI resolved an issue of this description just 2 nights ago. I am guessing the error number is a 'General' error number not a specific one, becasue from reading I see many reasons or fixes for the same error code and as in my case possibly a different underlying causes.
My (it was my wifes iTunes ) that would not open on her work provisioned laptop. Being a server admin I am the luccky one at home that get to fix it.
The System side scenario of my (-50) is this:-
1. Work provide (Windows Vista ) laptop.
2. Work distribute Software to laptop via networked Windows Distribution services.
3. My wife uses Quicktime to listen to medical audio off the net that requires Quicktime.
4. Quicktime installed from said Windows distribution services All works no problem.
5. Son visits us from USA with an iPad.
6. Wife buy's an ipad the week released in Australia.
7. I install Itunes to her laptop so we can 'register iPad'and she can manage her Apps, Doc's and Tunes.
8. All works good.
9. iTunes 10 is released and updates her iTunes.
10. I get called (not sure if same day tho) Help me I don't want to loose or reset my IPad to fix this.
11. I as she had tried several uninstalls and reinstalls of iTunes.
12 No change.... still (-50) on loading iTunes.
13. I call Apple Support (after all we pay for the additional support pack).
14. Apple check a number of services such as 'MobileDeviceHelper' is loaded and they appear to be.
15. Apple guide me through an orderly uninstall of ALL Apple Apps that are hooked into iTunes. (order of uninstall is specific to be done properly I will post apps removal orde at bottom of this thread).
16. I get to Quicktime and I note the Windows distribution of Quicktime 7 and additional Quicktime 10 application installed in 'Windows7 Control Panel 'Programs and Features).
17. I as an Admin at my wifes work (no I have nothing to do with the desktop Builds) realise I need to go in to my wifes work and (yes) reinstall the vesion 7 Quicktime from our Application Distribution service then Uninstall it.
18. I do just that Work provisioned Quicktime 7 is uninstalled.
19. I then set about uninstalling the remainder of the Apple applications that are 'connected to iTunes and for good measure two others that are not.
20. All is now gone
21. I reinstall iTunes7
22. 'Voila' it opens now.
I seems to me that the update to Itunes introduced an additional install of Quicktime and messed things up. if software is 'distributed' to the laptop as ours is Updates like Quicktime cannot happen unless distributed by work. Neither can you uninstall work distributed apps unless connected to the work network. (Oh we do have (Local Admin) permissions on the work provided laptop to do what we did) Obviously Work provisioned Quicktime will not go on again..
Oh the Order of uninstalling the Apple apps from a Windows 7 Laptop as provided by the Apple Support Guy is.
1. iTunes
2. Quicktime (where I saw the 2 Quicktime installs)
3. Apple Software Update
4. Apple Mobile Device Support
5. Bonjour
6. Application Support
For good measure I also uninstalled
7. Mobile Me Control Panel
8. Safari
Restarted the Machine and presto it was working again. I did not manually go and delete the Folders left behind if any were after the uninstall. I noted all my wifes stuff Apps, Tunes, Doc's etc came back when iTunes loaded and the iPad was not connected (which I did first). iPad was connected and sync performed normally.
Thankfully the marriage is on an even keel again.
I now have my oWn iPad
and I now am ******* after a MacBook Pro
Rachel at work still says ... Get a Mac
Work still resisting.
May be MazzBritt not uninstalling in the right order. the Apply guy was adamant it needed to be done so.
Hope this helps some one........ -
Can you please CLEAN up the podcasts that are no longer in service or being maintained? It's very tedious to click on someone's podcast to find that it hasn't been updated in 3 years.
This is a user forum and it is best to post these inquiries to Apple Feedback:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
You are right, a lot of older dead podcasts do not belong in the podcasts section. But there is still a lot of these podcasts that have good information and deserve to still be listed. For example there is quite a few photography lesson based podcasts in which you can get good information from different sources. -
There's a problem with the recipient's mailbox. Please try resending this message.
I have a user who cannot receive a message from a particular external sender. That senders assistant (same domain and server as the external sender with the issue) is able to forward the exact same message to my user and it arrives as it should. In
message tracking, I can see the message came in through my smart host, through my front end and to the users mailbox server, where an NDR was generated. We had the assistant forward us the NDR and it says:
There's a problem with the recipient's mailbox. Please try resending this message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.
From my 3rd party smart host/spam filter, I have a copy of the message in audit and when I forward it to myself, the same thing happens - it generates an NDR when it arrives at my Exchange mailbox server. This makes me conclude that my end users mailbox
isn't corrupt, rather it's something in the message header that our server doesn't like (I've seen this happen with other senders as well, but it is extremely rare and random).
Details/facts of my environment:
-Current production messaging system is Exchange 2003.
-Working on Exchange 2010 co-existence.
-This problem between this sender and us has been an issue before the introduction of Exchange 2010.
-I'm hoping to begin end user mailbox migrations to 2010 and will have the sender try again at that time, but I still have testing to do with our voice messaging system before I can begin moving end user mailboxes.

From my smart host/SPAM filter audit folder, I could see the message was received with a 2 meg "winmail.dat" file. Yesterday, I had attempted redirecting the message to my own mailbox, and it bounced. I decided to try redirecting the message
to a 2010 mailbox, and the message arrived. It had 3 attachments, 1 Word doc, and 2 PDF files. So, this appears to be an encoding issue with the winmail.dat file. Any work arounds/reasons for winmail.dat from being rejected at the mailbox
server? Once it made it to a 2010 mailbox/client, I was able to forward to a 2003 mailbox no problem. -
DON'T UPGRADE LION until you read this thread
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3197249
You will see from this thread that many people who have upgraded to Lion (versus a clean install) have had a disasterous experience. For instance:
I have lost count of how many times my computer has crashed in the last 3 weeks after not having a single full computer crash for years
The overall speed/performance of the computer and every application slows to a crawl
Programs "stop responding" for minutes on end and then work at a snail's pace when they come back
You can see from the thread that the problem seems to be associated with Flash. Uninstalling flash helps but it means you can forget about Youtube and every other application/web site that requires it.
From my own experience, I recommend you stay away from a Lion upgrade until this problem is fixed as it is extremely frustrating. I don't know if people who have done a clean install have the sme problem.rtln wrote:
I run FlashBlock and have no problems with YouTube. The videos are in h.264 also. I find it a much better experience. There are a few sites that use Flash effectively but for the most part I find Flash is used in poor design and tons of advertising. I'm happy to be rid of it.
I am running 10.6 on my primary HD but did do an upgrade to 10.7 on an external HD so I could try it out. There are some things I really like in Lion but unfortunately there are also a LOT of things I do not like (LaunchPad, Spaces, conflicting touch gestures in every app, wasted time and resources on animated interfaces, ugly user interface in iCal, Mail, Addressbook etc.). The stability of Lion seemed fine though.
I just bought a new MacBook Pro and so instead of migrating or transfering a clone I did a nice new Clean install of 10.6 (and all the updates) and my favorite apps (all newest updated versions) and after I ran a clone backup of that, I upgraded to 10.7
Maybe that's the trick to updating.
Excellent advice
My recommended method, clone your internal to an external, install Lion on the external, when ready either physically interchange the drives or clone the external back to the internal.
The external becomes one of your backup methods, it's already up to date. -
Every time I sync my Iphone 5c(with ios 8) to Itunes, it 1. deletes all of my purchased music 2. deletes all of my album artwork 3. replaces all of my deleted songs. please help! this is driving me crazy! It syncs 100+ songs, when I only want to sync 1! I'm running Itunes 11.3.1.2
After having experienced similar problems and having it back to work, I have a few suggestions:
- Try to find out if the syncing stops at a particular track or song. That might - out of the blue - have gotten corrupted in one way or another. Since that song will not be on the iPod, iTunes will try over and over to put it on and crash in one way or another;
- reformat the iPod as described in the iTunes 9 crash-thread. It takes time (at first it seems to do nothing, but that is because the green bar is moving with very small steps);

Hi,
I am trying to cleanly dispose from a thread after it's completed it's execution. However I see the activeCount in ThreadGroup increase with each new request. i,e the old threads are not being disposed after it's completetion.
I am using JDK1.3 on HPUX PA RISC server.
This is the code I have written to cleanly exit from thread
public void run()
while( exitFlag == false )
this.startFirmwareUpload();
synchronized(waitOnIPDBSession)
try {
waitOnIPDBSession.wait();
catch( Exception e ) { }
if ( exitFlag == true ) {
// Clean up the thread when done
// Exit from run method
System.out.println("Cleanly exiting from thread...");
return;
* Cleanly close a working thread
public synchronized void processExitThread()
// Set exitFlag variable to true
this.exitFlag = true;
// Remove unique entry from Map
ftpHandlerList.remove(waitOnIPDBSession);
}After each new thread completes it's execution, I am calling "processExitThread" method. However the "exitFlag" in "run" method is not being set to false, so the "run" method never exits from the infinite loop.
Any suggestions to cleanly exit/dispose from a thread are welcome.
Thanks
SHi,
Thread.interrupt() did the trick. Now the thread is being destroyed after it's completion.My current implementation is this
private boolean exitFlag;
public void run()
while( this.exitFlag == false )
this.startFirmwareUpload();
synchronized(waitOnIPDBSession)
try {
waitOnIPDBSession.wait();
catch (InterruptedException e) {
this.exitFlag = true;
if (this.exitFlag == true) {
// Clean up the thread when done
return;
* Cleanly close a working thread
public synchronized void processExitThread()
ftpHandlerList.remove(waitOnIPDBSession);
Thread.currentThread().interrupt();
}Do you think this would be a better implementation, in terms of safety of the application:
public void run()
while ( true )
boolean b = Thread.currentThread().isInterrupted();
if ( !b )
// Thread not interrupted
this.startFirmwareUpload();
synchronized(waitOnIPDBSession)
try {
waitOnIPDBSession.wait();
catch (InterruptedException e) {
this.exitFlag = true;
else {
// Thread is interrupted
this.exitFlag = true;
if ( this.exitFlag == true ) {
break; // Exit from while loop
} // End of While loop
return;
}Any feedback welcome.
Thanks
