Kudos for Lenovo for still using the absolute worst forum engine on the market.

To add insult to injury, someone cannot set up the forum settings correctly. I mean, why it allows me to put more than 100 chars in the subject line if later it tells me I have to manually count and delete the rest? Normal forums only allow me to write as many characters in the subject line as possible.

  • ...please uninstall the ipod software and try again...

I cannot get itunes 7 to install. Everytime, I get:
This installation cannot directly upgrade the version of ipod software found on this computer. Please unistall the ipod software and try again.
I have, to the best of my knowledge, removed every bit of ipod software, files, folders on my computer. I uninstalled itunes and tried to download and got the same error.
I then reinstalled the ipod software I had from '05 and itunes 4.9 automatically installed. Finally, in re-uninstalled EVERYTHING and tried again and got the same error message.

it's plausible that there is still skunky ipod software installation configuration information on the PC.
download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to remove the installation configuration of any entries (in the Windows CleanUp list) called "ipod for windows [date]" or "ipod updater [date]".

does an itunes install go through properly after that?

I am trying to authorize my computer and I get an error message: The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed. Help?

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question.  I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one.   I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable.  So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal.  Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal).  I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.)  And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do.  It didn't mention Terminal.  What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

  • I am trying to order a book, I keep getting the same error message," A network error occurred while processing your order, please check your network connection and try again"

I am trying to order a book with iphoto, I keep getting the same error message.
" A network error occurred while processing your order, please check your network connection and try again"
I get the billing part up, it has even uploaded my jpegs but at the final process, I get the same message.
I have ordered two books a few months ago without any problems.
Now I keep getting the same message either half way into
the order or at the final hurdle after the images have been uploaded.
    Any ideas?
My shared Network has been fine and that does'nt seem an issue.

  • Getting authorization error message: Required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.

I have recently purchased this MacBook used and am trying to authorize it on the iTunes Store but even after uninstalling iTunes and re-installing it with a fresh copy I'm getting this error message: "The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."  And I have no idea of where or how to fix this issue.  Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  I even tried to deauthorize this computer and got the same error message.  HELP!

  • ITunes Match error: iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the Store menu and try again.

I have just subscribed to iTunes Match, and get the above error message.  I have signed out and signed in several times, and still get the same message.  Can anyone help with a solution?

I have Just upgraded my mac from Itunes 11.0 to itunes 11.02, this issue occured within hours of the updated.
It seems to occur about every couple of hours for me, I can still access the apple store, but music match just dies with the message: "iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the Store menu and try again."
As it takes a good ten minuites for itunes
If this is also occuring in Itunes 11, the previous Discussions are probably not relevant.
Itunes 11 has had significant changes applied, so it would be reasoble to assume this is not the same fault and Apple have some how broken Itunes again.
I might try to downgrade to itunes 11.0, as it looks like music match faults are not high on apples priorities, it looks like took them almost a year to fix this fault last time it occured.

  • I can't sync my macbook air with my ipad, problems with authorization... this keeps cropping up: "The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permi"

"The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
Not sure how we can correct his permissions problem, and whether authorising or deautorizing makes any difference, with more and more errors keep popping up, this got to be such after an update of the OS, can remember which!?
    HELP!!!

    follow this:
    Launch iTunes
select iTunes Store from the menu on the left side.
sign in via the link on the top right area if you haven't done so already
click the link where you Apple ID email appears, enter your Apple ID password, click View Account, this will take you to a page displaying detailed information about your Apple ID account.
The last item under Apple ID summary should be Computer Authorisations, click Deauthorize All
now reauthorize any computers as needed when the system prompts you.
    good luck.

    Mac OS X
Log in to your computer using an administrator account.
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type: "/Users" (without quotes) and click Go.
    If the Shared folder exists
Open Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities).Warning: This step involves modifying permission settings by entering commands in the Terminal application. Users unfamiliar with Terminal and UNIX-like environments should proceed with caution. The entry of incorrect commands may result in data loss or unusable system software. Improper alteration of permissions can result in reduced system security or exposure of private data. This option requires a non-blank admin password.
Depending on which version of Mac OS X you have, this step will vary:
    On Mac OS X v10.5.8 and earlier, type:sudo chmod -R 777 /Users/Shared
    On Mac OS X v10.6 or later, type:sudo chmod -R 1777 /Users/Shared
    Press Return.
    Quit Terminal.
If the Shared folder does not exist

How do I disable any blockers.

Despite the message does the site work? If so I'd ignore the messages. From the name of the site, perhaps you want to see the advertisements.
The most popular adblocking is the "Adblock Plus" extension which you can disable with the "ADP" toolbar button or in the extensions options in Tools -> Addons -> extensions.
Adblock Plus - Open blockable items list - Ctrl+Shift+V (right click on icon) shows all the urls on a page and if blocked by a filter shows the filter
