Please educate me: is this a GPL violation?
while looking for a driver for my sn9c201 0c45:624f Microdia usb webcam, I stumbled upon this driver.
As stated in the GPL, anyone can charge for a GPL work, so that's not what I question here.
What I question is that the trial package contains a kernel module and some doc. The module obviously links to the kernel directly (there's not even userspace tricks like nvidia or ipw3945), therefore is unambiguously derivative work and thus falls into the GPL realm. This seems to draw a similar conclusion.
The guy distributes a binary without providing source code, even if you pay for the non-trial version.
Is my reasoning falling apart somewhere? or is this a genuine GPL violation?
PS: people are working on getting it supported the right way.

Mandor, I agree with you about your interpretation of the GPL, yet I'd like to point you to this excerpt (straight from the driver's FAQ):
3. Q: Is the driver open-source or closed-source?
A: The driver is closed-source and provided as a binary-only kernel module.
4. Q: Will you release the source code one day?
A: It's likely I will never release the source code, unless I have
financial proposals. The best candidate is the manufacturer of these
controllers. If you would like to see this driver released under
the GPL to everyone, please send them a personal request.
The more requests they will see, the more they will consider this driver.
Another way is to collect the money once from all the potential
users, according to the principles of the ransom model:
"A publishing model where copyrighted works (such as books, software,
or music) remain proprietary until a total amount of money is
collected or a certain date arrives, at which point the work is
automatically freed to the public."
The terms of this approach will require a preliminary discussion
between me and a group of interested users. Contact me in this case.
Should a possible agreement go well, I am also available for submitting
the source code to the mainstream Linux kernel, maintaining and improving
the driver by supporting new hardware promptly and for free for an unlimited
period of time.
Clearly, no request whatsoever will make the author hand over the source code to anyone.
What's more, and unrelated to this being a violation or not, there's no chance I (or anyone for that matter) will pay for the amount of money the guy charges for a one-time custom build of a webcam driver for a non-mainstream distro (see the FAQ point 9. for details). The sole figure is ridiculous.

I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:

or
=SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))

If the SIM is out of your phone, find my phone needs a data connection, so could use wifi - IF in range of a wifi and one that it can join (ie. a known network or one that is wholly open so no login required). Your phone could also simple be turned off, so not findable, or it may have been restored (plugged into iTunes and restored as new) again, making it permanently unfindable. Honestly, for someone stealing an iPhone, this is likely the first thing they do - restore as new and it is theirs forever.
Find my iPhone is tied to the users iCloud account - the find function is part of the iCloud account's services and it communicates with the iCloud servers over a data connection - either wifi or 3G.
Have you set up your iCloud account on your replacement phone, and is it working properly on that phone? -

Yes the phone belongs to me. It was purchased from United Kingdom Vodafone to West Africa, i had to factory unlock to use any sim in it. so it belongs to me. I am very new to designing a website, and decided to venture out and add some audio to it. I am a piano instructor and am VERY determined to do this.
I recently purchased some files from this site:

That is the same exact one I purchased.
I recently engaged in a little email session with the author / developer and he was sending me emails that had a lot of technical language of which I couldn't understand. I needed help, and he didn't seem to pay much attention to my problem, just kept repeating the same thing.
I eventually was able to research his terminology and I finally got around to being able to comprehend his 'steps' listed for me to get this thing up and running.
He basically said everything I needed was in a folder titled 'deploy' ... and that I just copy that folder into my Dreamweaver site project , along with my images, root folder, etc. Ok, easy enough. I did that.
His next step was to insert the .swf file into my web page in Dreamweaver. Ok, easy enough. Did that. BUT, there is a problem. A fairly large grey box shows up with an F inside it. This is in 'design' view. In 'Live view', I see nothing at all of the player, just a large grey box with no F inside it.
The peculiar thing is that there are 3 files inside this 'deploy' folder that when I double click them ... a beautiful audio mp3 player pops up and performs perfectly. It's the real thing. Just when I insert the .swf file into my site, nothing at all happens. And this was what the guy told me to do.
Since then he stopped corresponding with me. Not sure why. Here are the files I have in 'Deploy'.

The 2 index files open up a perfect audio player as shown on the site. So does the Mp3player_f4.swf.

That is working correctly. If you path it to work from the Web page, of course it will not work from “index.html” in the deploy folder… it’s not supposed to. It’s supposed to work from the Web page one folder level up. Did you test it from YOUR Web page after changing the paths?

This is also to be expected, because when testing the .swf directly (not on YOUR Web page), the paths in the xml file to the mp3s is correct. But remember, when you place that .swf on YOUR Web page, you are removing the .swf from “deploy” and placing it in the same folder as your Web page….. it’s not in deploy anymore.

Well for testing you could take everthing out of “deploy” and move it into the same folder as YOUR Web page and just change the path on your web page to the .swf (delete the “deploy/” part). Now every thing is in the root folder, there is no deploy folder, only a “sound” folder which holds the mp3s and the palyer would work just fine, because RELATIVE to the location of the .swf on the WEB PAGE, all the paths are correct.
But then you don’t really learn how to resolve pathing issues. -

And Google chrome just keep loading the page for hours and nothing is appear on its browser. But safari and firefox working absolutly fine.

Best Regards,You need to upgrade your copy of MS Office. You're using a version that is 8 years old (at least). You can buy Office 2011, which will work. You could also get a copy of Pages from the App Store, which is cheaper and will open Word files (though not perfectly). Or you could get a free Office clone, like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

I have a problem with my iphone 4. My 3G always stays activated but I lose my network signal. The bars all get lost and I'm not able to receive / send sms, mms or phone calls. Could you guys please help me fix this problem? Ios 5.1.1
I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated. -
The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.

I am writing a program that is supposed to generate a non applet (IE text) version of a 4-way intersection....however i have run into a problem that i simply cannot see a solution....please tell me why this code does not do what it is supposed to:
in i meant to call the car arrives method which is supposed to enqueue based on some randomly determined parameters, known as direction and bound....it is supposed to loop through and do that for every car created.. what i think is happnening is that everything is getting overwritten rather than enqueued...what i dont understand is why...the reason i believe that nothing is enqueuing is because later in the code i attempt to dequeue these queues and and set a paramter and i get a null pointer exception
