Please fix your broken integration with headsets!

Any planetronics, or jabra headset that has controls now does crazy things when you try and answer a call with the button on the headset.
Skype keeps dinging away or hangs up or any number of other permutations.
Please fix this so that it works they way it used to, or give these headset manufacturers a better API that works reliably to implement.

So interesting results with logging turned on. It changes the behavior. There is still one issue, but if you turn logging on one of the cases gets fixed. Turning it off again breaks it again.
Issue #1:
Incoming voice call, click answer in skype, not on the headset.
Start talking.
Your computer will continue to randomly ring unless you push the button on the headset multiple times, and this as often as not hangs up the call
(this is reproed in the logs attached)
Issue #2:
Incoming voice call. Use the headset button to answer the call.
Call gets answered, skype doesn't stop ringing.
Continues ringing unless you push the headset button twice more.
Hangs up the call periodically doing this.
Does not happen with 6.1.x series Skype.
Does not happen with logging turned on in Skype
You can easily repro this by getting any jabra or planetronics headset and leaving all defaults and telling it that skype is your default pc softphone. Then have someone call you in skype after skype verifies the device connection and try and answer it.
I have multiple other friends with these headsets that can verify exactly the same issues.

  • "Your server is disabled.  Please fix your server settings or start..."

    Hi all,
I just installed the eval version of Weblogic 8.1 platform and Workshop, and I am working through the first BPM tutorial.
I have completed building the Process Definition, and proceeded to build and run the application. When I tried to run the application, I was prompted to start the weblogic server. I did. it seemed to hang ( for over 5 mins). I ran the stopWeblogic.sh script, closed the workshop and logged off the server (I'm running Red Hat, actually, Fedora 2)
When I restart the Workshop and attempt to run the Process definition, I get the following error in a dialog box:
"Your server is disabled. Please fix your server settings or start a different server".
Has anyone seen this before? how do I get past this?

You may run into a lot of jip installing WLS on Fedora 2 as I think it is only certified on Red Hat Enterprise.
I think the error message is simply a result of your server being down.
Workshop has to be configuered to be used with your domain. I take it you have opened an application by selecting and *.work file from your domain. Once this is done you can check your settings by selecting tools, weblogic server, server properties.
Double check all your settings here. If is all looks ok try starting the server from workshop. This may take some time depending on the spec of your machine and the type of application your have, what are these?
Can you also post your logs here.

  • Please fix your web plugin immediately, yes this message in the right forum

    Ok.
On my mac, java takes about 5-10 seconds to load in a web page applet from either safari or chrome.
This is 4.9 to 9.9 seconds too long.
PC is a bit faster but not much.
Sun absolutely wrecked java with respect to the web-client.
    Please fix this.
Why: Because I want to write web-apps which don't suck. Which means I can't use javascript. Because despite the gajillions of money poured into marketing, it is really very, very slow.
    How to fix:
    It is very easy.
    1. Use PhoneME with JIT. (get startup time to near zero). You might say, "well, we're about to get java to have zero startup time." But this is what you have been saying for ever, and failing at, miserably! Stop trying, give us a JavaME plugin instead.
    2. Do NOT distribute monolithic massive class libraries. Instead, give me the opportunity to create class loaders. (I know you think you already do, but please look up the 10 year old bugs regarding the web plugin and class loaders). Make the distributable as SMALL as possible.
    3. Are you writing the pluginin "in-between" code in webkit? If you are, fire who ever is writing it. If you aren't, WTF, the connection between the browser and java is slow as a slug. If I was just a bit more of a cynic I would think google is putting in usleep(1000) between calls. Take this code over NOW.
Look, you STILL have a tremendous opportunity in the web-client-space.
You need to show that Java is BETTER than javascript. Which it could be.
    But currently it sucks.
It uses too much memory, it has a slow startup time, the connection between javascript and java is slow.
I should be able to write <script type="jar.pack.gz/java" src="blahblah.jar.pack.gz"></script> and multiply my performance by a thousand. Please do it.
I should be able to use a java2javascript library to simplify modifying the dom.
I shouldn't have to write javascript, except for inline code.
BUT INSTEAD I'M SPENDING MY TIME OPTIMIZING GWT.
Javascript sucks, we all know it is rising because of a vacuum of any real performance.
Please fill this void, or someone else will.
    Thanks,
    -tim

  • Apple, Please Fix Your Cinema Display Adapters Already

I know this is not a new issue since there are already topics identical to my problem.  I bought my Cinema Display in 2007, since then I have had to buy 3-4 power adapters.  When they fail the screen goes black, then you unplug it and it works for a short time but as you keep using it the time they work keeps decreasing.  My question here is why, Apple, have you not fixed this problem which  I have had for the last 5 years?  The other issue besides money spent is my computer is basically worthless until Apple sends me the new part.  I either have to have a backup power supply for the Cinema Display or have a different brand monitor as a backup.  Apple, please fix this problem, I like the display, fix the adapter.

    Brian,
I had this same issue and finally found a prefPane called SwitchResX that addresses the issue that I wish Apple had. It is designed to many other things but I only use it to deactivate a second display and it seems to work well for that.

  • LENOVO, please "FIX" your fixes!

Let me first say that the problem happened before and I spent over 2 hrs on the phone with tech support who eventually "fixed" it by downloading outdated version of SW.
Today I noted  the same problem: Fn key on-screen display does not work: nothing is displayed on screen when I press Fn+any hot keys, CapsLock or NumLock not displayed either. While the CapsLock, NumLocks , brightness, volume buttons do work, nothing is shown on the display. The WiFi (F8), Tools (F9), F9 buttons  are not displayed so I cannot use those functions.
I reinstalled  Lenovo Hotkey integration SW (ver. 5.33.000) - it did not help.
I re-installed energy management SW and now have 6.0.2.0 version.
The only functionsns displayed are volume and mute, and the display is different from before (looks like a bar graph in green). Brightness buttons work but are not displayed.
    Thank you for your help
    PS
I decided to sk for help here before I call the tech support and spend anothr 2 hrs

"I understand your concern, please install the ‘Hotkey Features Integration’ application this will enables the ‘On Screen Display’ option in your system.
Please download & install ThinkVantage System Update Utility from Lenovo support page and after the installation run the application to check for all the required drivers and application for your system and install it"
    Hemanth,
again thanks for trying to help.
I do have the ThinkVantage System Update Utility and run it about weekly. So far at least twice I had problems with on-screen display after updates. I guess that last BIOS update somehow messed up the machine.
Anyway, last night I found the solution: I restored the laptop to 3 weeks ago, and the  on-screen display now works just fine.
          Presently I have On-screen display version 8.30.00, and BIOS version GMET65WW (2.13 ).
I have not done anything myself to this laptop exc. for uninstalling Intel engine Management SW which you said was OK to do.
When the on-screen display stopped working I had version 8.33.00, and BIOS 2.13.1.10
Hope it would help you to assist other users with same problem.

  • HT1423 Could someone please fix the broken images for iMac 27 Oct 2013 instructions? I miss the webmaster's email on the bottom of the page...

  • Cisco please fix your AXL WSDL

Please join me in asking Cisco to provide a proper WSDL / schema files for the AXL API. The power of webservices largely stem from simplicity of use.. you import a WSDL into your IDE and you're all set. If you look at the files Cisco provides, they've been manually edited, which already should be a sign for alarm. There are plenty of toolkits to automatically generate schema and WSDL files form a set of classes so that somebody can expose a service, so there really is no need for manually writing a service contract, it only leads to problems (I've tried three toolkits to try and generate proxy classes, in Java and .NET and none of them worked out so I'm left with the option to either write my own stubs, or try and fix the WSDL and schema files).
AXL is a very useful API and it's a shame that Cisco throws huge rocks in our way by not providing a service contract that can be consumed directly by a modern IDE.
Note: I've tried VS.NET 2k3, Microsoft's wsdl.exe from the .NET SDK, AXIS and Sun's web services development kit.

Since Cisco charges for developer support regardless of it's about a bug of their own or you needing help, where can I send the bill for what I'm about to post?
I must say I'm highly disappointed by the AXL "API" documentation. An autogenerated document from a couple of schema files that don't even pass the validation in the program they were written in.
I have fixed all the validation errors and attached the files below. I have also used XMLSpy 2006 to create a C# and a Java project from the axlsoap.xsd schema. This isn't as good as importing a WSDL, but it at least gets you closer to where we should be without effort of our own.
I have also created another set of schema and WSDL file that use standard identation so you can actually read the WSDL, and changed the namespaces definitions to be less ambiguous so that they pass the wsdl.exe test. However, I have not managed to turn either version of the WSDL into a set of classes.. wsdl.exe craps out because it has problems dealing with "wsdl that references schema file that references schema file" (description here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;820122), and WSDL2Java times out for reasons unkown.
I sincerely hope that if somebody managed to get a working WSDL (based on my work or otherwise), he/she will share it. When it comes to such basic issues, we really should all pull on one string on this one. I think I did my part for now but if I manage to progress even further, I'll of course share my results.. it's not like we're talking about protected IP after all, and whomever once took advantage of the knowledge provided for free from another person should be able to convince his/her employer that some sharing of information is mutually beneficial.
Anyway, enjoy the attachments and please do not hesitate to contact your cisco account manager regarding this highly unsatisfactory situation. I also work with a competing PBX (Alcatel), and why their APIs are not as rich yet, they at least have a proper documentation, working samples (in both Java and .NET) and creating proxies from the WSDL works out just fine.

  • Apple: Please fix your bugs NOW!!

We have been reporting lots of FrontRow bugs in this forum for months. Is Apple planning to ever fix any of them? We want these bugs fixed now, in Tiger, we dont want to have to wait, and pay, for Leopard to get any fixes for basic functionality problems. Does this bothers anybody else? Or is it just me???

I agree. Frontrow is pretty good, but there's a lot of ways it can improve. One thing I really don't like is that to get to a certain point in a slideshow you have to browse through all the photos before it first. So, what happens when you want to start playing music half way through your slideshow? You have to go start up the music and then return and browse through all the photos all over again. Apple, hurry up with the fixes. Also, to anyone else who wants to tell Apple how to improve something, such as frontrow, go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/. There is no section there for frontrow itself, so I would recommend writing your frontrow comments in the OSX feedback section.

  • Would you PLEASE fix your installer!

I am still getting support calls about users installing the
latest Flash player, and then being unable to view any Flash
content in IE. When I go through, I find that the Flash OCX just
won't initialize. I still haven't been able to find any info on how
to fix this, so I am having those users view the pages in FireFox
if available, or in some cases, setting them up with a virtual
machine to run the page. (Telling them NOT to install the latest
    Flash player.)
When is this going to be fixed? I just got 2 more calls on it
today! I can't be spending 30-45 minutes setting up FireFox and
explaining the issues to the users constantly every single freaking
day just because your programmers are too lazy to fix their
    problem. Fix this!

Occasionally someone from Adobe will comment on an issue. But
Adobe provides their bug report page for a specific reason: once
you report something there, it is officially logged and they
evaluate the issue. If you give them enough specifics about the
trouble you're experiencing, there is a strong chance you'll get a
personal reply from an Adobe developer to ask for more details.
It's happened with bugs I've reported.
We all have issues with Adobe (I was screaming at customer
service on the phone just yesterday over my upgrade to Acrobat 9
which never arrived). But this forum isn't the place to communicate
    directly with the company.

  • Apple, please fix your connectivity problem for the iPad Air 2! Your OS 8.2 did nothing to fix this!! Very frustrating to not be able to connect to wifi some days!

can someone from apple please address the wifi connectivity problems with the iPad Air 2??

thank you for responding. My specific wifi issue is that my connection will disconnect then reconnect in a matter of minutes of each other. After an hour of this back and forth dance of connections it finally stays disconnected. I can go two weeks without  this issue then it will start up again for a day or 2. I have done all the basic troubleshooting.. Including checking and restarting my modem and router. Our iPad mini does not have these issues. None of our laptops/iPhones or xbox have connectivity issues. I have found many other iPad Air 2 users complaining of the same iconnection problems on various blogs. One blog had even discussed the ios update and how they were surprised it did not include a bug fix for this connectivity problem.

  • Apple:  Please fix the "Other" problem with memory space

It took me 5 tries last night to get TomTom Installed cleanly on the iPhone. Each of the 4 times I tried - I kept getting gigabytes of memory in the "Other" category. The only way to get rid of the "other" memory is to restore the iphone - a 20 minute process in itself.
While syncing mostly anything to an iphone or ipod - if you make a change in the middle of a longer sync (for a large file) and push the sync button again - the sync starts over and the large file that it was working on becomes orphaned and part of the "Other" memory. Cancelling Syncs also result in this large portion of "Other" memory being taken up by whatever the sync was working on at the time of the cancellation.

    Ted C wrote:

After it happened the first and second time, with the same results, you really did the same thing two more times? Yikes.
Ever hear of the term "Idiot proof?"
Leaving aside obvious directions that could be taken...it may be that 'idiot proof' is not the goal here. Say you have a problem like this, and don't know the solution. Maybe you come here, so some devious helper like me can pad his post counts by answering your question (regardless of the fact that the number of posts means absolutely nothing, and I volunteer my time here in any case). But, maybe you go to the Genius Bar for some 'free' help. See that shiny new iPhone 3GS? That slick looking new MacBook Pro? Maybe you suddenly remember you were thinking of a new car charging cable or BT headset for your phone. Bam. A sale is made. All because the valued customer needed help with an idiot-vulnerable product. Just food for thought. <sarcasm>And one more post to add to my post count. Whoopee. I'm going to go celebrate now.</sarcasm>
Seriously, though, Apple generally does a good job of making user-friendly products. The iPod will be discussed in marketing classes for the next several decades as the poster child for that approach to product development.

  • Apple - PLEASE fix the graphical bug with Dock and Stacks! PLEASE!

Using popular Mac games such as Diablo II, Freeverse's Wingnuts, Ambrosia's Aperion, and Blitwise's Super DX-Ball (as well as a LOT more) results in a common graphical glitch with the Dock and stacks, making fan stacks totally useless until I restart my iMac. Killing and relaunching the Dock doesn't fix it. Only restarting my Mac temporarily sorts it out. This is a highly annoying bug most often set off by games that Apple STILL hasn't fixed as of 10.5.3. So I let every developer (who I do not blame, BTW) know whose product results in this bug, in the hope they will apply pressure to Apple. Leopard has been the buggiest release since 10.1 IME and Apple is taking there sweet time about crushing such crippling bugs. Suffice to say it's really ******* me off.
Here is a screenshot from another 24" iMac afflicted by this bug after running a game:
