As you are a consultant it is important for you to first understand the Netweaver Stack and the role of Exchange Structure in it.For this go through this link

Once you go through these links and bit aware what all XI objects do,you should try your first "File to File Scenario"which help to understand XI objects.

Hi,
The better way to understand any module functionally is to know the domain,
Country specific logics , Calculation Logic and statutory knowledge
Once you are an domain expert, you can map processes as per the business logic in any System.
In SAP HCM you should first know Payroll(PY module).
Why Payroll first, All the results are calculated in Payroll , All results are posted to FI from Payroll
Get to know on the Schema & PCR's for the flow logic and study the log comparing with the logical flow of the schema.
All the other module are satellite module revolving around the PY module
You get all the inputs from OM,PA,Time to PY and Output to FI modules.
Other modules part of HR practises emphasising on Trainings, Recruitment,Country specific Modules
like Compensation & Benefits.
To enhance and get to know everything on Web get to know on ESS, MSS, E-Recruitment.
I would suggest you if you are working on Indian Payroll try and learn all the concepts of Payroll
Look at your own tax sheet/ form16( Indian PY) and derive step by step calculation
Once you are thru with this try to study w.r.t. SAP PY

Can anybody guide me to take the course of SEM. I have been working as a BW Consultant for the last 4+ yrs, out of which I have been with BI for 1.5 yrs. Can I go for SEM now. Is it suit for me as a BW CONSULTANT. Some guys saying it is purely for FICO Consultant.
Please guide me to take my career forward. Please guide me.

SAP Strategic Enterprise Management (SEM) refers to a number of capabilities within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and would not be covered in a single course.
You may want to look at the different courses offered for NetWeaver Business Intelligence if you are looking to grow your understanding of BI and BW. There are a number of course that could be very helpful for you.
If you are more interested in the Strategic part of SEM, there is a new product called SSM, SAP Strategy Management, which is not part of SEM, it is a separate application. You can learn more about SSM and the SAP solutions for performance management by visiting the CPM page on the BPX site:

While SAP does offer a number of eLearning courses that can be taken online, many of these courses will be instructor-led in a classroom environment.

New to SAP Netweaver...Please guide....

I have recently joined this network.
So, not sure wether this is right place to post such a question.
I am a fresher in IT field. My level of knowledge is limited to core java and JSP, servlets.
Now I am a member of project team which is working on SAP Netweaver. By now, I have just been able to understand that this has to do something with java. To be more specific I have to work on SAP netweaver Developer studio.....
I wish to pave a good foundation basic knowledge on this entire technology.
I just seek guidance on how to approach for this field.
I am having very basic knowledge about SAP that it is an ERP and have various integrated functional modules. But nothin more than that.
So, do i need to learn SAP before moving towards Netweaver. If so, then to what extent should I learn SAP and how.
I came to know about a book SAP Netweaver for dummies. As its name suggest , i thought it would be better option to start. But not sure.
Please guide me.

I have 2.8 yrs experience in SAP B1 as a techno functional consultant but recently i am learning abap to move r/3 side. after learning abap can i get a job in ABAP or i need to learn any related CRM technical or ABAP-HR, in this which on is the most demand, please guide me in terms of job and future career or can i learn BI ? it's good for my career but iam thinking after getting few years experience in ABAP iam planning to move to BI.but job point of i here it's good openings so can i learn now itself BI ?or CRM technical or ABAP-HR ?please guide me how can take good decision on future career point of and to select good modules in SAP World.

Need to add new column in SAP Query - Please guide me in this regard

Dear All,
In SAP Query, I need to put a new coulmn of each record for the difference of Billing date and PGI date as a work days.
eg: Billing Date = 02.05.2008
PGI Date = 08.05.2008
Take a Variable i.e. Days = Billing Date - PGI Date that will display as 5 days by excluding Saturday and Sunday.
After doing calculation of these work days for each record, we need a to add a new coulmn in that record as field lable as "Work Days" and display.
Please Guide me in this regard

Hi Rama,
In SQ01 when you are in the fields (first would be attributes, when you click next it takes you to field groups, and again when you click next if takes you to fields tab) check the following menu path
EDIT -> LOCAL FIELD -> CREATE
You can define the formula as per your requirement and populate the field.

Hi Vikrant,
Since you are more interested towards HR than ABAP, in long term you can think of moving into SAP HCM functional career. And to be able to work as a functional consultant, you need to have good amount of business process knowledge. Considering this you can start working in core HR and gain domain experience and move your career later towards functional area.
And more over you have ABAP HR experience,this will be very handy when you are a functional consultant.

1. M.COM
2. 8+ Years in Develoment experience in Clipper, VB, SQL.
3. 4+ Domain knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Finance, Sales & Distribution. These experience in Roles of Project Development, Functional Analyst, Business Process study.
I dont want to start again with ABAP as i did too much coding, but if there is really promising future I would certainly do again.
I am interested in Functional level.
As already 38+ year of age, Please guide which Module should i take. Also is the age will be a problem because of new freshers ?

SAP Transaction iView issue...Please guide...urgent

Hello All,
1. I created a SAP Transaction iView.
2. Entered all the required WAS + ITS details and the connection tests are all successful.
3. While creating the iView I selected SAP GUI for HTML as I need to display the the ITS Internet template (from Internet Service)
Query:
1. When I preview the iView, I see the GUI (standard SAP) format but not the webgui.
Please guide.

by default the iview uses the wingui - you need to change the SAP GUI Type (GuiType) attribute of your iview from wingui to webgui.
That should solve your problem.

There are different ways you can learn SAP PLM:
1) Easy but costly way is through attending cources run by different SAP Authorized Training Centers. By Training route u will get proper step by step guidance on different PLM functions, but it will have some impact on your pocket.
2) You can read SAP Help available online. But trust me without assistance its like learning greek.
3) There are different Presentations available on internet made by consultant for their customer. It would be great first step towards excellence.
Mentioned above are few ways by which you can learn SAP PLM, however the time & understanding level totally depend upon your will to get mastered into it.

SAP HANA is appliance of both software and hardware.It acts as a database and application server.
All the modelling part can be done on HANA and the views can be used for analytical purposes for reporting through BO.
