I bought the Zen Xtra 40gb this morning. Charged the battery before going to work. When I came home I installed the new software and began transferring songs from my computer to it. I was taking my time, looking up album titles and release dates online, so I was able to put about 50 songs on the player before it said "low battery."
I thought it was a little weird that the 4 hour battery gave out in just two hours, but figured it was probably from all the adding of material...that the 4 hour estimate was for just listening to music.
Anyway, that's not the problem. When it said "low battery" I unplugged it from the USB and plugged it into the recharger. About 20 minutes later I happened to look at it, and the message "Shutting down..." was frozen on the screen.
I tried turning it on and off again...nothing; unplugging the recharger, plugging it back in...nothing. I cannot turn the player off or unfreeze it no matter what I've tried.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any advice or info to share. Has anyone else had this kind of problem with the Zen Xtra, or can you think of something I might have done that was too hard on the system?
Also, this might sound stupid, but the one thing I haven't tried is removing the battery. I'm a little reluctant to do so before I know how it will affect the system...do you think this might solve my problem?
I'll call technical support tomorrow if no word, but I'm a little unnerved right now and was hoping for help from someone a little sooner than 9AM. *L* I spent a lot of money on this, and it's my first mp3 player.

I called the place I bought the mp3 player from today and they just told me to bring it in and exchange it. I did that, brought it home, and what do you know...same problem as before. *L* So evidentally I was wrong in thinking there was a problem with the player itself.
I tried to find out more about the problem, and I went into the device manager where I looked under Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers. It lists "unknown device" as connected to that port, and in the device status under properties it says "No drivers are installed for this device."
I'm not that good with computers, so am I missing something? What confuses me is that the first one worked perfectly for 2 hours...only after I disconnected it from the USB port the first time did I have problems. So obviously I have the proper driver in my computer or it never would have worked at all.
I may just have to wait for the tech support office to open on Monday, but I'd love if anyone had any suggestions. Now that I know the problem seems to be with the driver, or at least that it's with my computer and not the player, I feel a little more comfortable trying to fix it myself.

    Hi,
    As you mentioned that you just upgraded the database, so the data is same and schema is same you can connect with the same work schema.
    Yes, you can use the same contexts , but need to do Reverse Engineering for your new database.
    And about data server, i think you also have no need to create new data server, if hostname,sid and port etc are same as these were with R11(consult with your DBAs regarding it)

    So what happened to the phone during the process?  It should have gone black and restarted a couple of times and there would have been a white progress bar as the update installed.  Sounds to me like you've downloaded the update file but not actually installed it.  The quickest way to see version of the software is installed is to go to Settings-General-About and check Version.

    I have an iphone 4s, OS 4.1.1.  I am having issues with my messenger.  When I have a message open I will see a new text come through and then it disappears.  I have to close out of my messenger entirely and reopen it.  Once I reopen the message the text reappears.  Any suggestions?  Also, if I get a new message and there is only one unopened message in my inbox and I open my messenger it automatically opens that message.  Any way to fix this so that I decide when I want to open a certain message?

    There are several possible reasons that messages seem to 'disappear'.
    There are two types of email accounts: IMAP and POP. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/glossary-terms-including-types-accounts
    If you have a POP account and are accessing the mail on more than one computer or smartphone, whichever device reads (downloads) the message first will have it locally, but it will no longer be listed or available on the other devices.
    If you have an IMAP account, the message stays on the server, but if one device (user) moves or deletes the message, it will affect the view on all devices. So, for example, if you are using your smartphone and take some action on an email, when you get back to your computer, it will reflect that same action (but you might not have realized what caused it).
    Sometimes the index of a mail folder (.msf) will get corrupted. If you right click on the name of the folder and select Properties, a 'Folder Properties' window will open. Select 'Repair Folder'. This may take care of the problem.
    Another, less likely, reason for messages not to show up in your inbox is having the preference set to show only unread or recent messages. Then once you read them they seem to disappear.
    If you are still having problems, please look at the following items and respond with the information.
    1) What operating system do you use (Win8, MAC, Linux, etc)?
    2) Are you using IMAP or POP?
    3) If your mail server has a browser interface (web mail access such as mail.google.com), do the messages show up there?
    4) Right click on the folder in question and select Properties.
    a) Number of messages?
    b) Size on disk?
    5) Left click on the account name; View settings for this account; highlight Server settings;
    What choices are marked under "When I delete a message"?
    6) What, if any, antivirus program do you have installed?

    I had this problem as well but found the soultion on another post from turingtest2 - it worked for me:
    Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selectingRun as Administrator.

    Sounds like a hardware failure.
    Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced.

    Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the instructions from the following document?

  • Probloms with my zen nano shutting off randomly-please hel

    I just bought a GB Zen Nano Plus about a week ago. It worked fine until I had to change the battery. Now every time I play the mp3 music it automatically shuts down. I messed around with it and I figured out that every time the backlght shuts off, so does the player. It shuts down after 5 seconds, and that is when the backlight is set to shut off. It only does this while playing mp3 music (I can isten to the radio for as long as I want). This is pretty wierd because when I use the battery that came with the player, which is almsot totally dead, it doesn't do that.
    If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it, please respond, thanks in advance!!!

    Lots of the MuVo players suffer from this and are normally sorted by reloading the firmware.

  • Can't download music onto nokia 5800 - please hel...

    Hi I've got music in my music vault which I just can't seem to download. Everytime it says insufficient memory.
    I've checked all the trouble shooting advice etc... and looked at filemangager and deleted lots of files.
    Basically there should be enough room now - but it still doesn't work

    Hi, I don't really understand your problem, but if you are storing music on your phone memory ie c drive it would soon be full. If there is no fault with phone, what you need to do is install a micro sd card ( as large as you can afford, think biggest it will take is 16 gig) Then open phone memory on computer , click on memory card, create new folder, name it music. Then drag and drop whatever mp3 music you want onto memory card from your music collection on your pc. Now disconnect phone from usb cable, go to music on phone, select options, select refresh and all your music will appear and you will be able to listen to it !

  • My Entire iphoto Library is missing - only showing missing icons please hel

    Hi there, I am in quite a mess. I purchased an external hard drive to back up all my content on my computer. I was attempting to backup my iphoto which was not exporting properly. I went into the help menu to see how to back up to an external hard drive. The description was given to me on Help as going into pictures in Finder and then into iphoto library where all the photos would be backed up and I could copy and transfer to the external hard drive from there. There were several icons in that location and I clicked on one that was titled iphotlibrary6 (or something similar) to see if the photos were in there. Then I got a pop up saying was rebulding thumbnail caches and then all my photos showed the missing icons but I can't get the photos to show or come back. I looked in the trasha dn they are not there. I don't know what to do to get them back.
    This happened a while ago when my iphoto crashed (support didn't know how this happened) and I had to get my entire macbook reconfigured.
    I would really appreciate someone's help as the phone support refuses to help me unless I pay them more $.
    I haven't touched anything else on the iphoto and it says it has 1730 photos so I know there are in here somewhere as I have not deleted anything.
    Please help me get these back!

    HI again, I got them back thanks! I did a check in search for the original and modified folder as they weren't in the pictures:iphoto library. I found them in the trash. I don't know how they got there, I most likely put them there somehow but I moved them back to their proper location and then did as was suggested (Hold Alt and Apple and launch iPhoto) and they all came back (in their proper locations too!).
    Thanks again so much for your help! I hope someone else can learn from my lack of computer know-how!

    I would pull the battery out for 30 min maybe it just needs reset other then that the display could be defecti've if it still plays music

  • Premiere CS3 doesn't support Camcorder capturing and MPEG-2 on purpose? [very frustrated. Please Hel

    My boss gave me a Tape camcorder to extract the videos and post them on Youtube. I've tried Video Edit Magic 4.4, Premiere CS3, and Pinnacle Studio to capture the video, Premiere CS3 is the only software that does not recognize the camcorder. So I'm forced to use Pinnacle Studio Quick Start (The software that came w/ the Camcorder) to exact the video and made them into MPEG-2. Once the MPEG-2 is on my PC, I tried to open it with Premiere CS3 for editing. Once again, Premiere doesn't support the .mpg exported by Pinnacle. I've been tinkering with this for 10 hours, but still not luck . Someone please help me!
    PS. I wanted Pinnacle to Export AVI instead of MPEG-2, but the software is so crappy that the exported files would always be distorted.

    You basically have two options: edit in Pinnacle, or Export from Pinnacle as DV-AVI (remember, your material has already been heavily compressed to MPG-2), and edit in CS3, to Export to whatever you wish to upload to YouTube. Most people seem to use FLV, but they'll have to give you the exact specs., that they use.
    That is the way it is, with cameras, that create MPG files. Maybe subtly hint that the boss needs a miniDV tape camera, as the files from his/her camera are really meant to be viewed, not edited.
