Please Help! 5D footage to Blu-Ray!!

Ok...I'm trying to finish a project, shot on the Canon 5D Mark II 1920x1080 30p, transcoded to pro-res, edited in latest FCS. I want to author it to Blu-Ray via Encore. I see that Encore only supports 23.986 framerate for progressive footage. How do I go about conforming it. It's a 5 minute program with interviews, and music.
Please help!!

Here is the list of Encore's supported BD formats, from the Encore FAQ's.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • 1080p 50 footage to Blu ray appears to convert to either 1080p 25 or 720p 50 is Share FCPX  or Compressor

Has anyone been able to burn 1080p 50 footage to Blu ray, I can only seem to create a file of 1080p 25 or 720p 50 in either FCPX or Compressor 4 as the 50 option is greyed out in 1080p. As far as I can tell most blu ray players can handle AVCHD 1080p 50, even after the latest upgrades this still does not work. The footage is on the time line and project properties are correct.

    wrong assumption.
'Disks' (BR/DVD) are completely different encoded than the stuff in your timeline.
To keep things simple, the rule is:
    length matters, not size.
A single-layer DVD with maximum quality settings fits ~60min of video.
And, due to standards, is always SDef.
Same disk fits ~20min of HDef in a sort of BluRay-standard = you can burn a BluRay-structure onto DVD-r ... not fully compatible, but for 'quick'n dirty'.
Same DVD-r fits only a minute as 'data' from your timeline, which probably is encoded in proRes = ~40GBs/h ......

  • Help me burn my 1080p/60 footage to Blu-Ray...

I have a Sony HX9V that I used for our vacation. I recorded in the highest mode (PS, 28mbs) which is 1080p/60. I re-wrapped the clips with clipwrap so they could be read by Final Cut Pro X. I have a project with the settings of 1080p with 60 fps. I know that if I try to burn as a Blu-Ray it will drop my frames down to 24p which I do not want. I've heard you can make a playable Data Disc with 1080p/60 videos on it to be played in a PS3.
What would be the workflow for this? Or is there another way to get 1080p/60 videos onto a Blu-Ray to be played in the PS3.
My guess (and it's just that, a guess), would be to Click Share and Export Movie, so it exports as a self-contained movie. Then open Quicktime and convert the mov to a MP4, then burn with Toast 11?
I want the quality to be as close to the original as possible. I love the smoothness of the 1080p/60 video from the camcorder and want to try to duplicate that on BD.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Best approach to convert HD camcorder footage to blue-ray (and archive)

I have a Canon Vixia HV30 camcorder that I have used to take HD footage.  I would like to archive the tapes' raw footage (for backup purposes) and also burn a blue-ray for each tape.  Prior to the Canon (and switching to Macs) I had been using Studio on a Windows system to do the same for footage from a standard def Sony camcorder.  Despite reading through the material on this forum and elsewhere I am confused about a couple of items and am hoping someone can help me understand how to archive and burn the camroder footage to BD easily.
Coming from the Windows environment, I was used to Studio taking raw footage and converting the entire tape to one .avi file that I could then edit in a baisc manner (trim, add menus, add transitions, add chapters, etc. but not adding other audio, etc.) and burn...all in Studio.  The Windows desktop I had been using for standard def is not powerful enough for HD (it's from 2004) so I have to explore other options.
I have a MacBook Pro with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo process and 4 GB memory and am using Mac OS X 10.6.8.  I also have iMovie 08 (7.1.4 [585]) and Toast Titanium Pro with the HD/BD plug in (11.0.04).  Toast will not recognize the Canon camcorder connected using the Firewire 400 connection (but will recognize the Sony).  So I have used iMovie to download the camcorder footage to my MBP in HD (full quality).
    Here are my questions:
    1.  when downloading, it appears that iMovie does not retain the raw/same format as used by the Canon but converts it to something called Apple Intermediate Codecc.  Does this converstion affect the quality of the footage?  I do not want to use the convered material as archival material if it's already been converted once.
    2.  If the answer to # 1 is yes, iMovie converts the raw footage, is there another program that I can use in a Mac-environment that will simply download the footage in it's original format?
    3.  iMovie also splits up the footage into clips vs. showing one file and I cannot combine the clips into one clip (to be analogous to the workflow I have been used to in Studio).  Is there a way to do so?  Short of backing up my entire laptop (which I do), how can I extract the original footage from iMovie and copy it for archiving on a NAS drive?
    4.  Where is the best "place"/approach to perform basic editing (adding menu, adding chapters for different sections of the disc, etc.) on the footage?
    5.  If the answer to #4 is iMovie, would I then simply burn the iMovie project in Toast to Blue-ray?
I had thought achieving my goals would have been easy in a Mac environment (like it is for everything else) but am surprised to find it so difficult compared to how easy it was in Studio.  (Am I really better off getting a lower-end Windows 7 desktop and upgrading Studio and keep that just for converting our HD camcorder tapes to blue-ray?  I would rather not do so of course.)
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Calbe and AppleMan1958
Thanks for the replies.  Based on your replies, I think I can stay in the Mac-environment.
1 and 2.  I cannot archive as AppleMan1958 suggested to keep the original without conversion because the footage is HDV 1080i.  I understand however that iMovie will import and convert using a lossles codec.  (The camera is tape-based and doesn't show up in Finder.)
    3.  Having archived copy (if there is software that will let me do so for HDV) will negate the need to find the iMovie "version" but if necessary can do so directly.
    4.  One follow-up questions...if I use iMovies, do I simply use the project or the actual movie for purposes of burning to disc?
    5.  I agree Calbe...it's different so I'm thinking it's difficult.  I am sure I'll get the hang of it once I better understand how the flow works from camera to disc!
AppleMan1958, is there another consumer level app that you can recommend that I can use for archiving HDV?
    Thanks for the quick replies.

  • Exporting 1080i footage to blu ray format.

    Hi there,
I have captured some 1080i footage in premiere pro CS4 and have been exporting sections as image sequences in progressive to do some rotoscoping. I now want to produce the video in 2 formats. One intended to be a standard interlaced def DVD and the other to be the highest possible quality for blu ray. Could someone help me with whether i need to deintelace the footage to make it progressive when exporting or will selecting the blu ray setting do it for me at the best possible quality.
    Many thanks...

will there be a combing effect when played on a computer monitor
No.  Your software Blu-ray player will deinterlace it properly for you. By way of comparison, notice that I didn't say Media Player.

  • Help hooking up new-Blu Ray player to old receiver

    Hi,
I just bought a Blu-Ray player and was hoping to just pull the cables out of my old Proscan DVD player (which is hooked up properly to my receiver) and plug them into the new player.
However, the new player has space for two audio-out cables and one video-out cable (Y). The old player has the same two audio-out cables but has three video-out cables (Pb, Pr, and Y).
I tried just hooking the Y into the new player and leaving the other two cables unplugged, but that leaves me with a fuzzy image on screen.
Do I need some sort of converter, or should I have bought a Blu-Ray player with the same cable setup? The one I bought is a Samsung BD-D5700. None of my components are HDMI. My Denon receiver has the same 3 video-out plugs as the old DVD player.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer!
    Sue

Yellow video plug is being phased out, you may need to update your cables. -Agent M

  • Please Suggest a Compatible Internal Blu Ray Burner to buy for PE13 with Windows 7

Can anyone tell me brands and models of currently sold internal Blu ray burners that are compatible with Premiere elements 13 using Windows 7? The list on the Adobe website seems to be outdated models. So far I have tried the Pioneer BDR-2209 and the LG WH16NS40 and both are recognized as drives by PE 13  but display "media not present" when a Blu Ray disc is inserted.  I need to be able to burn blue ray discs from my PE 13 software. Which model internal drives are you having success with? Thank you!!!

    thefosters6
    Premiere Elements 13 Windows 7 64 bit.
I have been using a LG Blu-ray DVD burner (12X) successfully for Premiere Elements 4 through 13. But, as far as I know, this brand/model is no
    longer sold.
The "Media Not Present" issue is not unique to Premiere Elements 13, and I question whether one fix or suggested burner is a universal solution.
Suggestions before buying any more burner for this purpose...
    1. Explore other brand/type Blu-ray discs
    2. Uninstall Premiere Elements 13 (usual Control Panel way), do a free ccleaner run through CCleaner - Download
and the reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
If "2" does not work, then delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file found
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    13.0
and in the 13.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 13.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
    3. If all else fails (or before doing all of the above), determine if the Burn To: ISO Image works for Blu-ray.
You can take that ISO Image and get it to Blu-ray disc using a program such as ImgBurn. (Install ImgBurn with great care
since it comes with "baggage of carry along programs" if you do not make the right choices in the download and install.)
Please review and consider the above. Right now, finding the one size fits all Blu-ray player in your specific computer environment may prove
    frustrating.

  • How to burn LOTS of SD footage to Blu-ray disc?

I've got about 17 hours of youth soccer games in SD that I'd rather put on 2 Blu-rays than 8 or 9 DVDs.
PE8's Blu-ray presets are all for Hi-def or close to it. I would assume PE10's presets are similar, no?
blu-ray.com and PE10's Help page both say BD can hold 10 hours of SD video, which is why I'm holding out hope that software exists to put it there...
    Ideas?

It appears you can do it with DVD Architect Studio ($39 from Sony), but you've got to have the file properties set up for BluRay disc media and standard resolution MPEG.
This type of disc will not, of course, play on a DVD player. You'll need to play it on a BluRay player that, hopefully, will recognize it as DVD files burned to a BluRay disc.
This is not how the media is designed to be used, so it might be worth doing a test run to see if it works at all before you invest hours of work and transcoding into it.

  • Please help!! x100e blue screen issue

    Hey everyone,
I'm new on here, trying to help out my sister who's in school and so far failing miserably!
She has a x100e and developed the blue screen issue.
I did a bunch of reading on it- but have never seen an error message.
I formatted the hard drive for her (it needed it anyways) hoping that would help.  It didn't.  It also lost the wi-fi, I had to download a new driver from lenovo to get the wi-fi working again.  It is now working, but still has the blue screen.
Any help?  I wanna give it back to her but proving to be useless.
Thanks for any and all help!

How will anyone help you w/o error message on the top of blue screen and problem signature description?

  • PLEASE HELP - 24P footage issue

    Hey Guys,
SO I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having. We shot and have edited a feature film on the Sony ZU1 camcorder on their 24P setting CF24, and I captured it into Final Cut with the pull down setting and it looks great. The problem is when I try and make a DVD copy of the master file, it has a horrible shutter look on the TV. Am I not exporting it properly...it looks amazing on the computer? IS there anything I can do to preserve the quality from the computer to a master export?
I have been fooling around with COmpressor and made two High Quality DVD MPEG2 exports from the Final Cut Quicktime File, with one on the compressor 23.98 and one at 29.97. The 23.98 MPEG had a horizontal interlace to it and the 29.97 MPEG had a really nice clow to it but a nasty flicker to some aspects.
I know that Sony Cineframe is not the best 24P option but seeing as that is unchangeble is there anyway to take my computer quality flow to DVD?

Sony HDV only records to tape as either 60i or 50i. If you have changed the time base somehow then that is your issue. Unless you are truly taking this footage to film then you don't need to ever change the frame rate. You can't remove frames from an interlace only camera.

  • CS4 freezes when building Blu-Ray

Trying to build an ISO for a Blu-Ray project in Encore CS4 and whenever it transcodes the large file (6GB) it freezes when less than 1/4 of the way in. I have two files both exactly the same codec (H.264 1920x1080) and the first one is way smaller and happily transcodes, but the second one doesn't, but the file doesn't appear corrupt in anyway, it plays through fully on my system.
I'm currently trying to transcode through the program before building it but it's just frozen again.
Please help, I need this blu-ray asap.

  • Burning blu-ray from imovie

I have tons of HD footage in imovie and want to start putting these onto blu-ray discs. i have a pioneer bd-rw and toast 10. thought it would be pretty plug-n-play but when i started dragging my events into toast, i was limited to 98 clips, which amounted to 4 gb of footage when a disc can hold 23 gb! how do i get around this?
i have so much footage and so little time to do video editing, etc. all i want is to put my raw unedited footage onto blu-ray disc. can anyone help? thx!

I agree with Winston. My guess is that Toast is not running out of space. It is trying to create a menu item for each separate clip, and runs out of space in its menu creator. When you create a project and make a movie, it will only take one menu slot. Or you can add chapter markers if you want to subdivide further with creating a menu item for every clip.

everything but blu ray works I've removed the blue ray like hp said and to see if it would re install no luck I've installed all kinds of version of the hp smart dvd and nothing  I've tried chatting with hp  and they have been no help
if i put a regular dvd in its no problem but if i put a blu ray it says nothing no name just says no disc in bd drive and it opens it i installed the windows 7 64 bit ultimate edition so that i would upgrade i had the pre release trail and it was ending so i installed it now i have this problem boo

I have the exact same model and have Win7 64 bit on it. You have to install a Blu Ray compliant decoder like Power DVD 8, which is what I have. Then it will play Blu Ray movies. I also have Nero 9 on it which helps with working with Blu-Ray data. I am not sure what it was capable of doing as far as Blu-Ray disks before I installed thse two programs. I believe Win7 has no native Blu Ray support.
