Please help an automater noob
Hey. I have never used automater and don't know how to use it but I was wondering the extent of it capabilities. What I really want it to do is log me onto facebook and send something every hour. Is that possible. With those familiar with facebook, I'm trying to send schrute bucks to a friend. We're in a contest among friends.
The same thing happens to me when I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 on my Gateway (Windows XP Home, SP2, 512 RAM). However, once I get the error message, and open another QuickTime file, the browser displays a "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close," and shuts down MSIE. Please help!

Please help a complete noob get started...
Hi all, new here. I have decided that I would like to be an Oracle DBA. I have always wanted to learn some type of networking, however I admit to being a complete noob to the subject. However, I do have a few really basic questions that I hope I can find some answers to. It may be best if I just number them. (I am in the Dallas/Fort worth Area) Here we go..
1. What kind of place might a typical oracle DBA work at? A hospital? Or is it more like those giant skyscrapers you see in the city?
2. How long does it typically take to get certified? This is granted, of course, that you don't fail your classes and have to retake them.
3. Is there a way I can take the "classes" for the certification online, and possibly test online?
4. We all get jobs to make money. Being a dad with a family, I have to say that I can't really afford to aim low. What kind of salary might an oracle dba earn?
5. Is and oracle job something that can be found in some of the smaller towns/suburbs? Or is this something that is kind of scarce?user8772743 wrote:

Also a CCNA is an entry level cicso certification, though they do have CCENT which is a little lower. You need to be getting to CCIE to be a little higher.
From where you are at the moment you might consider a self taught microlight pilot wanting to become an airline pilot on 737s. Would he, after all the training, find that the rigourous and sometimes monotonous drag of a luton to Glasgow shuttle is not really what one wanted.
I usually like to see little steps first. But you want the big step to the big pay league for iminimum effort ... I guess its possilble ... but ......
I think because of your current love of hardware you might be better suited to study one the following certifications first
You may wish to remain with microsoft or whether to get linux experience. I would start with Fedora or Ubuntu, I actually find Ubuntu more fun but less mainstream.
MSCT
CCENT (or CCNA)
LINUX+ or something from CompTIA
If you want to get into databases and an entry level database certification then a Sun MYSQL CMA is a consideration as an entry level study. Its disdvantages are its unlikely to help you get a job and the SQL syntax is different to Oracle.
If you can complete before 30th september then a Sun Openoffice Writer Certification is a cheap option (if you can pass it).
Sometimes looking for evening classes close to where you are might be a better option to channel your efforts on a whats available rather than what I want basis.
If you are really looking for an online course then try something like: [http://www.ed2go.com/cgi-bin/ed2go/newofferings.cgi?dept=CP] I cannot personnally verify if this particular vendor is useless, bad, cheap or whatever. Some online courses are certainly not to be recomended. Anyway [www.certguard.com] knows about this and while not within certguard remit does not say anything bad about it.
Quality is probably not great and possibly not up to date but wider width and quite cheap are from [http://www.vtc.com/] .. this is positively cleared at about time of this post by [www.certguard.com] as certification safe. You can look at some lessons here perhaps to decide what you want to get into. If seriously getting into a certification you've be better get something to supplement; but for learning proably okay.

Please help me Automate an Aperture/Photoshop workflow
I'm trying to streamline the process of exporting a RAW file from Aperture to Photoshop for editing and then re-importing it into Aperture. I have zero experience with Automator, but someone else on the Discussions site was kind enough to share hte Automator process he uses for this.
Problem is, I can't get mine to work (or I don't know how to make it work).
I created a folder called "Photoshop-IN" where I would export the RAW files from Aperture that need editing. Then I created a folder called "Aperture-IN" where the completed Photoshop files would be exported for re-import into Aperture. Then I created this workflow:

I think the workflows are correct, but I don't know what to do at this point. The original poster said something about making them "watched folders", but I have no idea what that means or how to do that.
To test the workflows, I tried exporting a RAW photo from Aperture to a "Photoshop-IN" folder. Then I opened Automator and clicked the play button for the designated workflow. It tells me it executed properly, but nothing happens. The CR2 file wasn't opened in Photoshop, is still in the folder, and didn't get moved to the trash.
I also tested the other workflow (getting PSD file back into Aperture), and that doesn't seem to be working either. With this workflow, I get the following message. "Aperture got an error. Some parameter wasn't understood. (-1715)".
What am I doing wrong? I realize that this might be pretty far off topic, as it is more a question of how to use Automator and possibly AppleScript. But any help would be appreciated, including direction to some resources where I could learn more about Automator (the help section is woefully inadequate!)

Then File>Save as Plug-in..., choose 'Folder Actions' and then where it asks what folder to attach it to, navigate to your folder. Now, every file that is copied, moved or saved into that folder will be opened in PS.
The import into Aperture workflow is mostly OK, but you are passing a folder from the first action, not files. Try adding a 'Get Folder Contents' action just after the first action. With a bit of jiggling around and using the two actions of that workflow you should be able to save it as a folder action.

Basically these export a RAW file out to a watched folder (as you are trying to do), but instead of saving it out and re-importing into Aperture, a duplicate file is made in Aperture by using 'Open in external editor' and saving the converted file into that.

Please help on: Automatic deletion of certain rows

I am developing a project in which the rows inserted before two months should be deleted automatically. I have a date column in my table. I wrote a PL/SQL stored procedure that deletes the rows that are two months old. Now I can able to delete the rows only if I manually call the stored procedure. But my question is how to call the procedure on a daily basis automatically, so that the rows are checked and deleted daily.look up DBMS_JOB (pre 10g) or DBMS_SCHEDULER (10g onwards)

Bootable CD...Please Help...nOOb
I downloaded the entire set of binaries from SUN for Solaris 8.

Then I compiled the segments to a single .iso file as instructed (sol-8-u7-install-sparc.iso). Then I tried to make the installation .iso file a bootable cd. I tried both with CD Creator & NERO, but to no avail.
The CD's are not even seen while booting the computer. When I used NERO it only copied the .iso file as-is and didn't even make the CD in anyway bootable. CD Creator on the other hand made the following files:
.VOLUME
ADD_INSTALL_CLIENT
BOOT
COPYRIGHT
MODIFY_INSTALL_SERVER
RM_INSTALL_CLIENT
To me I would think that this would work just fine. As the system(s) boot-up they just pass right by where the CD should kick-in. And I have tried on three different computers too. Two clones and a HP Kayak XU.
I have the setting in my BIOS to Boot from CD first as well.
Also do I need to make the software CD's bootable, or can I just burn the iso file straight to CD?
F.Y.I ... I had downloaded RedHat and just burned the iso files to disk and worked. Do they install in a similar way?

Please Help! Why does Zen sync automatically when I plug in to char
Everytime I charge the Zen (via USB), it copies all the music so that I have double of each song, etc. I can't find how to change a setting so that it doesn't do that. please help!
Also, is there an easy way to transfer files from a Zen V to the Zen? I've tried plugging in both at the same time and opening the creative media sources for each but dragging and dropping doesn't work. I'm actually interested specifically in copying the
Zen V playlists and their contents so that I don't have to recreate the playlists on the Zen. Most of the music I have managed to copy already (most of it was in the computer from being downloaded, so I could then transferring it to the Zen) but I can't seem to figure out hte playlists or the CD music that was ripped onto the Zen V but not saved on the computer).

Under preferences you will probably see the "check" under "Automatic Sync"
My preference is to have "checked" under "Manual Sync" which prevents the
"automatic sync" from happening on connection unless to
commanded to do so by manually selecting "sync" from the Zen media explorer.
Note: Please click on the help menu under the sync manager icon and read everything.
Note: The default software is set to "automatic sync"? from the factory!
I believe it should be set to the "manual sync" by default.
Before, playing with your sync options and setup backup your media data!
(to CD or flash dri've)
One trick, I use, is to change the sync arrow direction from the Zen to the PC ONLY.
(This prevents double copies of media data)
Since, in most cases, all media data e.g. music and photos are added from the PC to the
Zen device which has a solid-state flash memory, and the only way you can lose your
media data is to have a faulty Zen device. By having the arrow from the Zen to PC,
anytime you manually sync all your media data is copied, in one direction only,
from your Zen to the PC. Then, I backup the folders to a CD or flash dri've.
So, if you destroy you Zen, your media/music/photos will be safe on your PC.
If your PC goes down, then you have your media/music/photos on a CD or flash dri've.
(A double back-up) Just one thing to remember, reverse the arrow direction, if need be,
if you have a "new" / repaired Zen then reverse it back or you will lose your data!
Keep in mind, every so often to manually sync your Zen to the PC so you can have the
latest/current copy of your media data on your PC for backup.
The above information only applies to using the Zen Media Explorer and not the Windows Media Player!

Are you using the Office for Mac 2011 version, as you need to do? The Office for Mac 2004 is Not at all compatible with Mountain Lion, and the 2008 version has been noted to have some problems running with ML.

On that listing program, my problem is in field document listener, that is:

if I execute this program, the textfield can only receive integer input. If input is string til 4 times, the dialog panel will display error message. After that, textfield must be empty (delete automatically).
I want to ask you about how I can emptying that textfield automatically after the dialog panel is appear?
Please help me to get out from my problem.

To empty the text file, use the method setText("").
eg. fldServIP.setText("");
fldServIP is one of your textfield. So whereever you are showing the dialog box, use setText("") for the corresponding textfields.
