Please help -can't uninstall or install iTunes  - Error code 2330

I tried to open up iTunes 9.1.1 today and got a message that windows was trying to configure iTunes. Midway through, i got an error message: "An error occurred while attempting to create directory: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computer\iTunes\SC info.
So i then tried to download the new version of iTunes (9.2), and got a message that "the installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with the package. The error code is 2330."
Then I followed the trouble shooting steps on the support site - deleted the Temp folder and then tried to uninstall 9.1.1. I received the same 2330 error message.
Doing a search of error 2330 on this forum, I saw people recommending running a Chkdsk which I did. This repaired some errors, but it didn't help with the installation, I got the same error message.
I have tried to call Apple support but apparently they don't support iTunes unless you're running it on a MAC. I'm upset and frustrated and at my wits end. I know next to nothing about computers, which doesn't help ;o) I'd be grateful for any suggestions...

Many thanks.
Okay, either the SCInfo directory (or the iTunes directory above it) has gotten damaged in some way. iTunes is detecting that when you try to launch it, and it is trying to do a repair install in order to try to repair the damage. But the damage in your case is enough to stop the repair install from going through. The same damage will be stuffing up the attempts to uninstall/reinstall/update iTunes.
There's an alternate strategy we can try to get around this in cases where chkdsk can't fix the damage. But first we're going to have to adjust some view settings on the PC, because your damage is lurking down in directories that are hidden by default on Windows XP systems.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.
Now we'll see to the file.
In My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Documents and Settings" folder.
Open the "All users" folder.
Open the "Application Data" folder.
Open the "Apple Computer" folder.
Rename the "iTunes" folder "iTunesOLD".
Restart the PC. Now try launching iTunes again. Does the repair install go through properly this time?
(If the iTunes Setup Assistant runs, don't add files to your library. Otherwise you may end up with a lot of duplicates in your library.)
If you get iTunes launching again, check to see if any purchased music is still playing, and if any iPods/iPhones/AppleTVs etc are connecting properly. (We've forced iTunes to rebuild configuartion files and an iPodDevices.xml that affect some iTunes DRM/authorisation-related and device-connection-related machinery. So I reckon it's possible you might at least need to reauthorise some songs or apps or games after iTunes launches again.)

  • Can't uninstall or install itunes.

    Help!!
When I try to install the new version of itunes it tells me I need to delete the old verson first.
When I try to uninstall it I get the error message
The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "iTunes64.msi" in the box below.
I have searched the internet for solutions but I can't find it. I can't find the windows utility that I have seen online.
    Please help!!

I am currently having a very similar problem. I am running Windows Vista and I have iTunes installed on a WD hard drive. When I open up iTunes I get a message saying "The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly." It then gives me the option to repair. After selecting repair it says that I need to reinstall iTunes. From here I get the same story: I cannot install or uninstall without getting a message "The folder path 'Program Files' contains an invalid character.
Have you found a solution to this problem yet?

  • I've tried updating and reinstalling itunes 10.6 everythime i try to open it it comes up with "Apple application support not found. apple application support is required to run itunes. please uninstall , and install itunes. error 2 (windoes error 2)

i've bought an iphone and it said i needed to update itunes to 10.5 or higher so i tried to update. it didn't workso i uninstalled and reinstalled different versions of itunes between 10.5 and 10.6 but it either wouldn't install properly or it would then i would come up with this warning. "Apple Application Support. Apple Appliction Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall itunes, then install itunes again. Error 2 (windows error 2). i've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times.
    please help.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • PLEASE HELP - Can't sign in on iTunes!!

I have had an iTunes account for years now but yesterday I tried to sign in and got the following message...
We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occured (-9808).
There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later.
And it has said this ever since - every time I try to sign in. So I cannot make purchases, get album artwork etc. Reeeally frustrating.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Does anybody know what's wrong / how to fix?
    Please help!!

You don't have the iPad connected to the computer with the cable while you are trying to download apps on the iPad do you?
I'm running out of ideas here. Try this, reboot your iPad and then try again. If you are connected to the computer, disconnect the iPad first.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Itunes wouldn't update,uninstalled - won't reinstall error code 2330

I could access Itunes itself but not the Itunes store. It would open briefly and then shut down. I was using version 9 and tried to update to version 10. The system wouldn't allow it. I followed the uninstall directions and tried to start over. It would load just so far and then I got a box that stated "an error occured while attempting to create the directory C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\en.lproj\AppleTVSreamingPrefsBar.nib. I trclicked retry several times but it wouldn't work. When I cancelled the download it stated that there was an error 2330.
I tried to reboot the computer and think I checked all of the security items to make sure that Itunes is allowable. HELP!

an error occured while attempting to create the directory C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes.Resources\en.lproj\AppleTVSreamingPrefsBar.nib. I trclicked retry several times but it wouldn't work. When I cancelled the download it stated that there was an error 2330
    That's consistent with disk/file damage.
Let's try running a chkdsk over your C drive. There's instructions in the following document. Select both automatically fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.

Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Cant install itunes. error code 80070002.

error code 80070002 comes up everytime i try to install. I have tried cleaning the data store and downloaded files, I tried a sfc/scannow, i tried to rename the files and I tried a system restore. It still wount download and windows will not update due to the same error code. Any advice on what to do next?

Drat. That Windows Modules Installer should be showing up in there. (I checked on the Wife's Vista 64-bit laptop prior to my previous reply.)
The trouble with the Windows Modules Installer will be at the basis of all of the sfc /scannow failures, Windows Update failures, and iTunes install failures.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to advanced troubleshooting information for it in the context of the 80070002 error code, and we've tried all the sensible basic principles troubleshooting I can think of. (I don't want to experiment further here in case I muck things up for you further.)
So, I think we should try to get you on the radar screens of some Windows Update experts to see if they've got any further suggestions.
Probably the best place for that will be over at the Microsoft Answers Vista Windows Update forum:
    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsvista
In your post there, tell them the error message code you get on Windows Update and iTunes install failures, the error message you get when you run sfc /scannow, and the fact that the Windows Modules Installer Service isn't appearing for you in Services. Perhaps also include a link back to this topic here, so they can see what we've tried so far.
Here's a permalink to this topic here that you can include in your post there:

  • Can't uninstall or install iTunes due to 9.1.1 upgrade version

Since the upgrade of 9.1.1 version of iTunes it just doesn't work at all, I can't neither install nor uninstall, I've already tried everything in this Forum but nothing seems to work.
When I try to install all over again the message "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory C:\program files\common files\Apple\CoreFP The installation can't continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator" appears, but I am the administrator ans still have my access denied! I've followed a tutorial posted as an answer to a topic here but it didn't work (this was the link it lead me http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/windows-7-how-to-delete-files-protected-by-tru stedinstaller/ )
I can't install, uninstall, remove the folder with everything, have access to CoreFP folder, open iTunes and it's all just driving me crazy!
A month ago I had same problem with the AppleSyncNotifier and its program called Core Foundation or something like that , but a few days later the warning disappeared and I though it was ok.
Please someone give me a light and help me!!

  • Uninstalling and Installing iTunes - Error 2330

I wanted to upgrade to iTunes 9.2 and started this via the upgrade option in iTunes. At the end of the install i got Error 2330 and the install rolled back. Tried to uninstall iTunes and got the same error message at the end of the uninstall. Tried to download 9.2 from Apple website and install that - same error message. Followed various suggested fixes, including deleting iTunes folder from Program Files and tried again but i still get the same error message.
Can anyone help me sort out this mess?
    Many thanks

Sorry about the delay, grumps. I've been brooding.
Okay ... we'll proceed on the assumption that you've got a damaged AAS file or directory, and that you've got either an AAS 1.0.1 or 1.1.0 in place, and the disk/file damage is enough to trigger the early-version-of-AAS bug where if a program file was missing from AAS, the AAS installer returns the missing .msi message.
Although I never had to employ it out here in the forums, I had a plan mapped out for how I was going to deal with it if it ever cropped up for someone.
Unfortunately, that plan has gotten more difficult to implement, because it involves the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, and Microsoft pulled the utility from their Downloads Center on June 25. So first we have to hunt down a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for *at least version 3.0* of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Application Support* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Now we'll have to try to get the damaged AAS program files out of the way, so we don't get caught by the 2330 again.
In My Computer, open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your program files are installed on).
    Open the Program files folder.
    Open the Common files folder.
    Open the Apple folder.
Right-click on the *Apple Application Support* folder, and select "Delete". If Windows won't let you delete the folder, try instead renaming the folder *Apple Application SupportOLD*
After deleting/renaming the folder, empty your Recycle bin and restart the PC.
After the PC restart, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 2330 this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Tecra M10 - Can't uninstall or install Power Saver code 0x0

    Hi folks,
on my new Tecra M10, after logging in I get a Fatal Error message "Toshiba Power Saver. Fatal error has ocured. This program will terminate. code 0x0.
I cannot install a new download of power saver until I UN-install the existing.
When I try to UN-install via Control panel, I get the same fatal error.

    Hi
Friend of me had the same problem and he told me that it was possible to remove Toshiba Power Saver in safe mode. Therefore go in advanced boot menu and select safe mode. After this try removing Power Saver as normal.
    Check this!
Furthermore you could try removing Power Saver using an additional tool like CCleaner. This is a very nice tool where you can remove programs and optimize the registry. I like this freeware program.
