PLEASE HELP: Cannot connect to Base Station

I just bought a new Airport Extreme. I hooked it up to my internet, got it connected to my computer, did all the set up, and it still wouldn't go online. So I though, "Maybe I entered some info wrong or something like that." So I read the manual and did a hard reset along with re-installing the software...
_and now when I open "Airport Utility" it wont even pick up the base station!_ I had it earlier but now it wont even connect. I've tried moving the base away from the wall and into the middle of the room, I've reset it, and hit the "refresh" button a million times.
Can anyone help me?

Connect the computer running AirPort Utility to the AirPort Extreme Base Station by Ethernet cable.
If AirPort Utility still cannot detect the base station, then go through the reset routines again.

  • Cannot connect to Base Station using Airport Utility

I purchased the AEBS over a month ago and as soon as I connected it to the modem, I was online. I followed the directions to setup a network and connected a printer. Everything worked smoothly, however, sometime shortly therafter, the printer communication stopped working and I could not check the settings of the base station using the airport utility. The airport utility could not see the Base Station whatsoever. The internet worked though. I had to do a hard reset on the AEBS and start from scratch. Everything worked again, but only for a short period of time. The airport utility would not see the BS again. So, what do I do to fix the problem.

Well, during setup, it asks to connect an ethernet cable from the PC to the LAN <--> port on the AE. So, that's part of the standard setup and I believe is how the PC communicates to the AE. The only wireless device I use on the network is my Droid phone. I plan on connecting another computer whenever I get a new one. I'll look again to make sure that I did it right when I get home tonight.

The program runs fine within eclipse and the database is bundled in the jar.

...and the database is bundled in the jar. That isn't going to work.
The MS ODBC driver (which has absolutely nothing to do with java) expects to find the MS Access file in the windows file system.
And the contents of the jar file does not fit into that requirement.

  • Cannot reset Airport Base Station (Graphite...)

Pls can anyone advise on next step...
I need to reconfigure my OLD graphite base station as I bought this from someone who +_has forgotten his password_+. I have followed step by step of the Apple Support instruction...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2439
But unfortunately everytime I try to reconfigure (taking care to follow every step)...
I FAIL... as there is an error and cannot complete.
I have walked through every step both automatic and manual and cannot enter a new configuration.
ALSO I am doing this connected via the ETHERNET IP 192.42.249.15 setting as instructed (this maybe why I cannot succeed!) BUT...
I cannot connect at all via the wireless as the temporary stated password 'PUBLIC" does not appear to allow me access.
Help from anyone would be most appreciated. thanks
    James

If I understand correctly, you are saying that you have been able to complete all of steps 1 through 8 listed in article HT2439, but you cannot reconfigure the base station according to the last step, step 9.
The article's reference in step 9 to AirPort Setup Assistant is out of date. AirPort Setup Assistant version 4.1 or later will not work with the Graphite, whereas any earlier version of AirPort Setup Assistant will not work with Mac OS X 10.4 or later. Therefore, you must use AirPort Admin Utility to reconfigure the base station. (The best version to use on a computer running Mac OS X 10.5 is AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5.)
The second paragraph under "Additional Information" in the article, pertaining to the use of AirPort Admin Utility to reconfigure the base station, also contains wording that is out of date. The gist of it is that it is advising you to disconnect the Ethernet connection to the computer, make AirPort active, join the Graphite's wireless network (whose name should have reverted to a series of numbers, with no WEP password), and re-launch AirPort Admin Utility (or Re-scan, if it is already launched). The base station password, "public" -- note: lower case -- is needed not to join the wireless network but for the utility to configure the base station.
Alternatively, it should be possible to configure the base station via Ethernet. Just re-launch AirPort Admin Utility. I believe that the computer's manual IP address setting of 192.42.249.15 should still work so long as the Graphite is not obtaining a WAN IP address from another source (i.e., so long as it is disconnected from the Internet and any other routers), but you could instead change the computer's Ethernet TCP/IP setting to "Using DHCP" before re-launching the utility.

After a recent iTunes update attempt iTunes no longer functions and the airport extreme base station is not accessable on our computer.  We still have wifi but cannot access the base station software.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the response. I tried that approach this evening and it didn't work for me. (Technically it worked for me, when I was hardwired into my base station, but would not work for me wirelessly, which is my main issue.)
Again, using the approach you recommended works only if I have my ethernet cable attached to the LAN port so my computer is communicating directly to the base station through the hard wire. I am able to scan for my base station and make setting adjustments normally this way too.
As soon as I disconnect from the LAN port and try to go wireless is where I run into problems. The Base Station's wireless network I created is available to choose in the top right corner of the monitor with all of the other available wireless devices/networks -- but the network I created does not have access to the internet. I am also unable to configure my Base Station wirelessly. When my Airport Utility tries to scan for the Base Station and Network, it cannot find any Apple Wireless Device. It's like the Wireless Network in my base station is not sending out a signal.
Is there a way to resolve this issue?

  • Airport Express loses connection to base station

Airport Express second gen loses connection to base station, has to be reset.

Roger that.  Late 2013 MBP 2.5 i5 4mb ram, 10.9.1 Mavericks, formatted and hand loaded after questionable upgrade load.  Fast, flawless, no issues.
Airport Express configured to wirelessly extend existing network for the express purpose of supplying an analog
input to a stereo amplifier via airplay.  No other devices are connected to the AE.
The WAP is a Century Link Actiontec C1000A VDSL2 physically located 6 feet from the AE with no obstructions.
There are no existing proximal fortuitous distortion or RF interference sources.  Other 802.X networks near are
on non-conflicting channels.  The WAP is less than six months old and has no issues.
The WAP is configured  for MAC filtering with the SSID turned off.  In the allow list are two iphones, a printer, two more MBPs and the Airport Express.  One of the iphones is loaded with the Remote Ap which functions
flawlessly when the AE is connected.
The AE connects properly in the Extend Existing Network mode and performs as advertised as long as Air Play
    and/or itunes is active.
Some time after music has ended, the MBP has gone to sleep, or been shut down ... the Airport  Express loses its connection to the wireless network, with its amber light flashing.
Performing a reset and reconnecting is necesssary, and all works as advertised after.  Subsequently,
sleep, inactivity, or shutdown will cause loss of connection again.
I am aware the AE can be connected with CAT6, but that is unnaceptable.  If I had wanted to use wire I
would have plugged the MBP into the amplifier and saved $100.
My speculation is some sort of TCPIP flub in the design ... as in the AE does not natively transmit keep-alive
packets when it stops getting data from the Air Play computer.  It would be easy to decide whether to fix
the problem or return an inadequately designed product ... if there were any information about it.  No schematics, no operation description however leaves me only to say thank you for your time and hope
    you have the solution.

  • Please help me connect eMac, cable modem, and Airport Extreme Base Station

I connected Ethernet cord from cable modem to Airport Extreme Base Station and then another Ethernet cord from Airport Extreme Base Station to eMac, but I could not get internet access on my eMac that way. I'm only getting internet access by directly connecting eMac to cable modem. Can someone please help me with a step by step explanation of how to set these 3 machines up so that I can have internet access on both my eMac and, wirelessly, on my new MacBook. Thank you very much in advance.

    eMac & MacBook   Mac OS X (10.3)

jenngee, Welcome to the discussion area!
Ensure that you power off the cable modem for a minute or so when you switch it to another Ethernet device.
Ensure that you are connecting the WAN port of the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to the cable modem. The eMac should connect to the LAN port.
The steps for setting this up can be found in the "Designing AirPort Networks" (direct PDF link) document. Look through that document and try to get it setup. Then return here if you have more questions. Don't forget to post what you tried and the issues you encountered.

  • HELP PowerPC G4 OS 10.3.9 Unable to connect to base station after updates

OK...I have read many topics that seem to be related, but after trying all of the suggestions I could find, nothing is working....PLEASE HELP:)
I have a PowerPC G4 running OS 10.3.9 I completed the suggested software updates, and now I can not connect to the internet wirelessly. I keep getting the error message that my password is incorrect. This is not the case.
The software updates that I ran were for iTunes, Java, Airport(probably the problem) and security updates.
The current version of airport utility I am running is 4.2 is there anywhere I can download an older version? My wireless connection worked just fine before I updated.
Please, this is driving me CRAZY! If anyone has any ideas please post.

    Hi,
We are running like units, with the same airport version 4.2.
Have you checked in "Keychain Access" for the password it is looking for? After updating mine once (a while back), the system reverted to the first one I had (but had changed since then).
To get to Keychain Access, us Finder and put Keychain Access in the upper right search box. When you get in, scroll down to the name of the network and click "Attributes". There in the lower left is "Show Password"... check it. It will now ask for your Admin/Keychain password (which will be the same if you have NOT made a separate Keychain password). Allow Once below the password entry. The password it wants will be below the box you checked to show it.
If you have changed it or have more then one by that name, it may be time to delete the older version(s) so keychain only has one to look for, not 2 or 3 like I had. If there is more then one, try all the passwords but remember MAC OX tunes out after some 3 tries, you will have to shut down and restart to get 3 more tries. Careful with deleting any till you find the right one, or the one it wants.
If these do not do the trick, let us know and we will try some other things...
    Enjoy

  • I Cannot Make AE Base Station Work as a Hub

I have a G5 with Airport Extreme base station and I'm trying to use a separate Airport Express base station so I can plug my non-wireless G4 ethernet cable into the Airport Express and plug into my existing network, yet I cannot make it work!
I am so frustrated. I was using a D-Link 810 hub and it was so easy, yet there seems to be no way I can configure the Airport Express to be a simple access point, it seems like I have to set it up as a node on a WDS, which is uneccessary, or the G4 just can't see any network connection on its ethernet cable when plugged into the Express.
I thought it would be so much easier switching our D-Link 624 with the D-Link 810 router/access point to all Macintosh, but I am completely befuddled by how to replace our old setup.
If any of y'all can give me any help, I'd sure appreciate it...thanks!
    Ed

You must connect the AirPort Express Base Station to the AirPort Extreme Base Station using WDS. This will activate the LAN port on the AX, and your computer should then be able to access the internet.

  • Please help with connection problem!

    Hi people,
I am trying to use Siemens Speedstream 4200 modem to connect to the internet using its ethernet port. It is connected via USB to my wife's HP Pavillion DV9000 laptop (Win XP)and works fine with that. Almost all hardware in Brazil where I live does not support mac, so I'm not sure if the modem is made only for PC. I imagine that's unlikely. I have tried using both a simple direct ethernet connection to my mac as well as via my airport base station (which I initialised) but to no avail.
My airport is connected and has the IP address 10.0.1.2. I have also checked 'set serice order' to make sure the correct method of connection is at the top of the list. Do I need to find out some of the PC's network info to apply to my mac's setup?
Please, any help most appreciated as I need to connect for my work.
    Thanks! Ben

1st the technology is the same worldwide, and it is not restricted to Mac only or Pc only the technology works on all compuuters irreguardless of the manufacture.
Turn off the Modem you are using and the same with the Airport Base.
Plug the ethernet into the Speedstreme Modem and into the Airport Router start the Modem first and wait a minute and then do the same to the Airport Base.
If your wifes PC is wireless it should connect as well as the Mac.
Get the Mac working first. The Pc should connect as well as the Mac either way with Ethernet or Wireless, if she has a wireless card in her's.
Don't be afraid to consult the paperwork that came with the Airport, or Airport Extreme Base.

  • Connecting to Base Stations with an ethernet cable

Hi. Can anyone help figure this out please.
We have two airport extreme base stations at opposite ends of the building with one connected to the internet and printer etc and the other extending the network so everyone can access these services and each other.
Because they're some distance apart, we've connected the two base stations by ethernet cable with the second base station extending the network in Bridge Mode.
I can't figure out whether the ethernet cable from the main base station should go into the WAN or LAN ports on the back of the other base station. I've tried both and at the moment neither seem to be working.
Both base stations are brand new and the most recent model.
Can anyone advice on which port to sue and any settings I should be paying attention to please.
    Cheers.

Welcome to the discussion area, chriscurtis!
I can't figure out whether the ethernet cable from the main base station should go into the WAN or LAN ports on the back of the other base station. I've tried both and at the moment neither seem to be working.
Suggest that you connect the ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your main AirPort Extreme (AEBS) to the WAN (circle icon) on the remote AEBS. You may need to refer to some settings on your main AEBS to configure the remote AEBS correctly.
To effectively "extend" the network that your main AEBS is creating, you would configure the remote AEBS as follows using AirPOrt Utility - Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the icons to name your device, establish a device password and adjust Time Zone Settings
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network (Not Extend as you might think because Extend is only used if you are connecting devices using wireless only. You are connecting using Ethernet)
Wireless Network Name = Exact same name as your main AEBS network
    Radio Mode = Automatic
    Radio Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Exact same setting as on your main AEBS
Wireless Password = Exact same password as your main AEBS network
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet tab
    Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update to save settings and you should be good to go. You have what is known as a "roaming" network because computers will automatically connect to the AEBS with the best signal as they "roam" around the building. The ethernet ports on the remote AEBS will be active as well in case you need to plug a device in at that location. Post back on any questions that you may have.

  • Please help us connect my children's new Nanos to the computer!

I just purchased two Nano's for my children. I have followed the instructions on the CD to install and format the Nanos. We can get the software to load onto the Dell computer but cannot proceed with the next installation step to have it load onto the Nanos. When we plug the Nanos in during the installation step, we cannot select "NEXT" to proceed with the next step. The computer does not recognize the plug in. We have tried both USB ports in the front and back. All are USB 2.0. We have removed all Dell Jukebox and MusicMatch software. And tried to install downloading directly from the Apple website. Please help us! One very frustrated mom and two sad children!
    Dell Dimension 4600C   Windows XP

I have the EXACT same problem...same pc also. The USB ports are good (I've tested with other USB devices). I've installed the Itunes software w/o connecting the Nano (because the software wouldn't let me per above; the NEXT button is grayed out when asked to connect the Nano during installation), and the Itunes software seems to be working fine, but does not see the Nano. No yellow question marks in Device Manager until I plug in the Nano, then I get the yellow question marks under Other devices, subheading is USB device; The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28), To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver. I try reloading drivers by pointing to the CD that came with the Nano, but no good. I've also tried reinstalling the Itunes software and updater 3 times, reset both Nanos, and I still don't get the pc to recognize either Nano. I've reviewed the 5 r's and no help either. Nanos batteries are charging fine. Thanks for any help that can be provided!
