Please Help - Cannot send Emails
Hi, when I try to send an email with my aol account on my iphone it says "CANNOT SEND MAIL The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.aol.com" failed". However when I take off the wifi and use the edge network I could send an email just fine without any problems. My router is connected to the internet as I could use the web browser just fine but I cannot send an email. This problem just started happening as it never did this before.

I have 2 other PCs that I use my Aol account on at home. To access my Aol mail I just open up my Aol 9.1 program up and check the mail. Yesterday I checked my mail from my PC and later went on my phone to find out that I couldnt send emails anymore. When on my PC and home network I can send emails but on my phone and home network I cant.

Same problem here - with my Nokia N73. It finds the computers - a Macbook and a Mini - but cannot connect to send photos to them.
The error message on the phone is : Unable to Connect.
They both seem to work on it for a couple seconds and various BT icons blink and act as if they are about to do something, but then they give up.
I checked Sharing and it is enabled.
I have gone through the pairing process - everything looks fine... but it just won't connect.
I forget when it stopped working, but it used to.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Message was edited by: Verizon ModeratorThanks. I got the problem fixed. Spent time with the Apple folks and was kicked up to a senior advisor. It seems the problem was with my internet provider - Tmie Warner. Remember I could use the old ipad and the iphone to send mail. I checked all the specifics between the three units. It seems that TW is changing over from the RR.com to TWC.com. Since the new ipad air was just set up, it fell under the new TWC mail specifics.

After update, cannot send email via any accounts! Please help!

After updating few days ago, I cannot send any email via any acounts. I have .mac email and yahoo email. But I still can receive emails. I have checked message borad, it said "Some members experienced difficulty sending .Mac Mail via computer email applications from 3:30 am to 6 am Pacific Time. Normal service has been restored." But mine hasn't!!! It has been almost a week!!
The erro message says "cannot send email using this mail server, please choose one of the following server and retry again"

It seems the problem is the server, but it has been many days, I don't think apple haven't had notice this.

BT email not working. Cannot send emails from btconnect SMTP after iOS upgrade. This is the only difference I am aware of. Apple iPad 3. Can anyone help me please.
All resolved at last
Deleted the SMTP setting
Recreated the SMTP using the same settings
Able to send emails now
No logic - as usual - just a bug! -
My emails have been working well on my IMac 10.7.5 and icloud. Then for some reason, I cannot send emails! I can still recieve but I cannot send. When it comes up with that error message I try all the other servers it suggests but none of them work. Can anyone help please?
It says "cannot send message using the server my.mac account (ICloud)
the it lists 3 servers:
my.mac account(Icloud)
smtp.mac.com:jaynem1(offline)
smtp.me.com:jaynem19Offline)
the top one of these is highlighted with the options: Try Later or Try with selected server
I have tried all 3 servers and nothing works, I've tried turning the mac off and on and restarting but nothing seems to work. It's wierd because I'm gettng emails ok?!? -

I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? ThanksI agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end. -
Just upgraded to Lion an am discovering that I cannot send email photos from within iPhoto. Error message says bad Internet connection or server not working, when that's not the case. Never happened in Snow Leopard! Help!!!
what email service - Yahoo mail have been acting up lately
you can try setting Mail as your email client - it resolves this pfoblem for some people

TheOneYou need a DATA service enabled by your carrier to be able to send e-mail via thier network. Do you have a data plan with your carrier ? If so - is it enabled ?
Can you access internet thru your network (not wifi) ? -

BTW. I have seen posts suggesting age of Mac has an affect. Mine is MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
The mail I am having problems send is Exchange and google mail. The google client I re-installed and this had no affect. -

I have contacted three more people that made the upgrade and they have the same problem. My advise is not to upgrade until Apple solves the serious issue, I would hate to have to re-install Outlook...I can send e-mails just fine with apple mail on yosemite...
Might not be a generic problem but rather a personal problem..
You should try find a fix rather than waiting on apple.
Hopefully somebody can help you out.
More than happy to help with your settings/preference pain... And compare mine with yours...
If you send some screenshots... I can send you my equivalent... So maybe you can figure it out.
Is it a gmail or icloud email acount? Can be of more help if it is. -

Make sure that your username and password are set in the outgoing mail servers setting.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional. -
I bought additional storage on icloud for £14 per annum. Cannot send emails as storage full-why? Stored in outbox. How do I rsolve this.
It seems that the outgoing mail server is rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation. -

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
