Please help, cant restore my daughters iphone 3g
Please please can someone help? I'm not very technically minded with these things and I dont know what to do. Can you please avoid abreviations and keep the instructions in laymans terms.
After some kids at school changed my daughers pin number, she tried to reset it and got locked out of her new phone after typing in the wrong password the second time. She fiddled with it and the lock out got longer and longer, so she read online the way to resolve it was to restore it on itunes. So we've synced it to itunes and then she's clicked to to a factory reset, but now nothing works. I've taken over half way through at the stage where the only screen on the iphone is telling you to connect it to itunes.
I've updated itunes to the latest version 11.0.1(12), I'm running mac 10.6.8. I've unplugged all USB cables and the hub and all that is plugged in it the keyboard, mouse and iphone as instructed online but still doesn't work.

I've tried it several times and its the same each time.
I've looked online and the clicking the code 1015 just jumps to the support links.
She's only 14 and only had it a month and paid for it with her birthday money so you can imagine she is very upset. Please can some kind knowledgible person give us some good news and help us get it working again.

if you're in the UK try a company called fixmyiphone. I had the same issue - Apple told me it was not repairable. I tried the 'hairdryer trick' (look it up on youtube) but it did not work and finally I found this company - fixed it on the spot for £40. Highly recommend. An iPhone without wifi is called an iBrick.....

I am trying to restore my daughters iPhone because she forgot her passcode. I'm stuck because iTunes is telling me to turn off Find my iPhone in iCloud settings but I can't do that because the phone is locked. HELP!

So a Spotlight search on your phone to search for Safari and click the App. Once you verify that it is still on there you'll just have to look for it.
If the App isn't listed, try a restart/reboot of the iPhone holding the home button and sleep/wake switch. If the App still doesn't show itself in the OS or via Spotlight, restore the phone via iTunes.

Are you aware that if you restore your ipad that you will lose all data from your ipad and very difficult to get it back unless you had previously made a back-up of your data on itunes or in the cloud. and that would be on the computer you set those up on. (There are some independent apps out there that might help restore data but I don't have any experience with them...)
Also, I think if you restore on another computer you're supposed to have administrator rights and have the latest itunes update. And I think if you sync (if restoring is considered syncing with another computer, you'll be locked out of your computer or a new one.)
I don't know if there is a way for you to safely eject your ipad from your mom's laptop and find another way, but please read this

And then tell the story of your problem that you originally included and your follow-up efforts to restore given a suggestion on previous post (though I think you SHOULD AVOID RSTORE if you can.) If all you did was sync your phone, and if you haven't synced again since this happened, you can restore your phone from the backup that was created at the beginning of the sync process (camera roll photos are included in the backup). If you have synced again since this happened this backup has already been overwritten and your photos are lost. Also, if you restored your phone from the backup of your iPod, rather than just synced, then your photos are lost too.
If you have an intact backup that contains these photos, do the following:
Without connecting your phone, open iTunes on your computer and go to Preferences. On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Connect your phone to your computer, right-click on the name of your phone when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose your most recent backup to restore from.
When complete, you can go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and re-enable automatic syncing. -

dolphinYour signature says you have 10.6.2: is this correct? Lion 10.7.2 is required for syncing with iCloud - you cannot sync your contacts on 10.6.2. All you can do is go to http://icloud.com , select Contacts, click the top contact and then the bottom one while holding the shift key to select them all; click on the cogwheel at bottom left and choose 'Exort vCard'.
Then go to Address Book on your Mac, from the File menu choose 'Import' and select your vCard. This will restore the contacts to your Mac but they will not sync with iCloud. -

I would "guess", since you were in the middle of backing up, your backup is corrupt & most likely unusable. Only one way to find out though, & that's by trying to restore from that backup. If your pics are not there, they are gone.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
