PLEASE HELP: DEAD DUAL 1.8Ghz G5
Hi,
My mac refused to start up, it would just freeze on the apple after starting.
I pressed the apple key and S and this is the message I got:

Yes. You have a damaged OS installation. IOPCIBridge::compareAddressCell(), which is part of the IOPCIFamily kernel extension, is damaged or truncated in some way. Either that or you installed some piece of software that installed an older version of the PCI family over top of the existing one (unlikely).
You'll have to reinstall Mac OS X to fix this. You should also check for filesystem corruption by running disk utility from the install CD/DVD.

Please Help iBook dual USB crash
Hi everyone
I have a big problem with my ibook (dual USB) 700mhz OSX 10.3.9
Since last night when I try to start it, after completing loading all the stuff and showing also the desktop it crashes and asks me to restart holding down the power button or sometimes it freezes and I have anyway to restart it.
I tried to boot from the OS install CD ROM holding the "C" key but the system keeps booting from the HD.
The same comes when I try to run the hardware test CD. It just doesn't work with the "C" and the system try to boot normally from HD. (What have I to do to boot from a CD???)
I can just say that my HD (20GB)was almost full and that two days ago I changed the firmware of the monitor installing a patch to have a mirroring display.
Please help me, next week I have to travel for work and I need my iBook!

Ive had my 4th Gen Click Wheel 20GB iPod for over two years now and it has recently started playing up badly. Basically i charge it up fully...listen to it before I go to bed (with sleep timer on 90 Minutes). Then when I turn it on the next day its completely dead and needs charging again.
Could this be due to how long i've had it or would any updates have effected its performance. I have the most recent iTunes and iPod updater software btw.
Any help appreciated. Cheers!It could be just a battery issue - probably the time to have a replacement of battery. But you need to confirm it with your iPod - see how long does it play (not in sleep mode)

PLEASE HELP Overclocking dual core problems
Hi, my computer is of the following specs.
-(CPU) AMD opteron 165 (Dual core 1.8GHz)
-(Motherboard) MSI K8N SLI-FI
-(Graphics Card) MSI 7800 GT
-(RAM - I know crap) Corsair value select 512mb x2 dual channel PC3200 200FSB 2.5CS
-(Sound Card) SoundBlaster Audigy 4
-(Power Supply) Hiper Type-R 580 Watt SLI
-DVD-RW and DVD-ROM
-4 x Hard drives (2 SATA in RAID-0, 1 SATAII, 1 SATA, 3x DiamondMax 10, 1x Samsung)
The problem is that i can't take the motherboard above 220FSB. I'm not asking much, like overclocking the 1.8GHZ Opty to 3GHZ. I just want to overclock it to 2.4GHZ so that it equals a X2 4800. I'll need 266FSB to do it.
I know the ram is crap but to get around it i've lowered it to 133FSB etc. It's running at 2.6V 3-8-3 2T timings.
I just can't overclock it, i've tried everything, like lowering the ram speed way down, only using 1 hard drive whilst overclocking. but it will not boot above 220. That is why i think it is the motherboard rather than ram as if i got to 230 or 240 i would know that it was something else causing problems.Yes, increase that low dimm voltage. Visit Corsair's site to get max volts for your RAM...but I THINK my old VS1GBKIT(cas 2.5) could handle 2.9v ! not sure, and not sure you have same RAM...also THINK 2.8v was default volts on mine.

Please help, dead end How do you import to Apple mail from Outlook express?
I have a client with an old Mac G3 tower running OS9 and Outlook Express 5.06. I have read all of Apples Mail help and searched for docs and the discussion board. It appears that since the Mac Pro Intel won't run classic I have to some sort of transfer via another app. I have actually found better info on doing this from a PC but no successful suggestions to do it Mac to Mac. I have moved the Microsoft User Data over, tried directly from Apple Mail, tried loading Mozilla and pulling it in there, no good. How do you do this successfully?
I think I have figured this out, looks like I might be able to import to Entourage then to Mail, anyone tried this?

Ibook G3 700mhz dual drive dead after installing 10.3 please help!

this is my first apple mac and i bought a ibook g3 powerbook which is:
700mhz processor 512k level 2
128mb SDRAM + 256mb stick
20GB ultra ATA hard drive
combo drive
400mpbs firewire port
video VGA
i updated it to 10.2.4 from 10.1 and it worked absolutely great :O)
i then got a 10.3.4 disk this is when problems happened to 'narna' (my G3) i loaded disk first time i did an upgrade install and i did custom install (i didnt want printer drivers and languauges on so disabled them) about 10 mins later came up with error while installing so i quit install, restarted 'narna' and reset cd off again to upgrade....
the second time i forgot to deselect printer drivers and while installing them 'narna' froze. so i had to put power plug out to get it to restart up.
i switched back on and got a grey language screen telling me to press power button to restart. thats all i get...
i've tried option button with disk so i can select the drive from which to start it up and my drive is there with 10.3 on it with a red cross on the box. if i selct that drive to boot 'narna' up from it restarts computer and then while it loads i get the grey apple screen and then it freezes again but this time i get lots of grey/white lines across the screen...
i think thats all the information...what i'm after is there any way i can solve this etc without completely wiping my computer :O( i have the original 10.1 disks but i tried those i can get on and open OS9 on the computer and it shows my other OSX drive with 10.3 wrote next to it... but the restore disks dont seen to do anything with my computer as it just gives my same messages to restart/boot or takes me to drive then it crashes...

A good first step after any significant crash on a mac, especially if it occurs during an installation of software etc, is to start up from your OS CD or DVD (just like you would if your were trying to install software) but to then run "DiskUtility" instead of the installer. You can access DiskUtility from the "Installer" menu on the menubar when booted from the Panther DVD.
Once Disk Utility is running select your Hard drive in the panel on the left of Disk Utility window and click on "repair disk". Disk Utility will test the drive and repair problems with its directory structures if it can.
Once the "repair disk" process is complete use the "repair permissions" process.
If the repair processes works then you can try a fresh installation of Panther. If not, then your best option is probably to wipe the drive and start from scratch on a "clean" disk.
It is always a good idea to use Disk Utility to "repair" the disk and permissions before installing any OS upgrade or major piece of software.

As far as the memory requirements go, it depends a lot on what you are doing with your computer. If you are running regular "office" type software, browsing the web , etc then 384 MB should be fine for Panther, though you may not want to run too many programs simultaneously. For "heavy duty" tasks (video editing and the like) , though it would be seriously limiting.

My iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.3 keeps crashing at 45%!when my iPhone nears 45% from a full charge it suddenly says the phone is 20% then 10% then 1% and then it goes dead.when I plug in the charger instead of waitin a few minutes for it to turn on,it instantly turns on and says the battery is 45%!this is OK at home where I can keep the charger plugged in but what about when im on the go?PLEASE HELP!!!
This is most likely faulty battery. Make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

My just bought ipad with retinal display 32G, screen frozen at one of game my son play. Now I can't turn off ipad, I can log in ipad. I connect ipad to my apple computer, message say I need to unlock the ipad, the problem is I can't even get to ipad home screen to unlock or enter the password. Basically, my ipad is dead. I can't even know what my series number etc. Please help!

When did the fan problem start?
After I replaced the mother board on the computer.
Why did I replace the mother board?
Because the experts at apple agreed with my diagnosis that the major crash problems & kernel panics must have some thing to do with a logic board gone bad. They would not work on it, because this Power Mac G5 dual 1.8 GHz machine is now a legacy model.
What I have done to attempt to fix my fan speed problem? yes I checked the obvious things, here is a list:
1) yes I checked to be sure that the new mother board was the same part number as the original one, and that all things that were unplugged from the old mother board - were actually plugged into the new mother board.
2) all the fans work, I can see them spinning if I use a flashlight and look at them (cover on and off to get at some of them)
3) check all RAM to make sure: a) it was installed properly b) that the RAM worked using TechTool Pro c) even started the machine with only the original RAM that came with it.
4) I installed a Temperature monitor - to see if there was something reading as very hot inside that was causing the machine to continually run the fans at a high speed. No, no heat issues that I can see. Here are the reading from the sensors in degrees fahrenheit, 2009-10-11 16:11:01 -0500
CPU A Die Temperature: 75.7℉
CPU B Die Temperature: 81.5℉
Drive Bay: 68.9℉
Main Logic Board Air Inlet: 64.8℉

5) zapped the PRAM
6) followed the SMU reset instructions for
Power Mac G5 (Late 2004)
To reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer, simply do the following:
• Turn off the computer by selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu or by holding the power button until the computer turns off.
• Remove the power cord from the computer.
• Wait two minutes.
• Plug in the power cord.
• Turn on the computer.
7) followed the SMU reset instructions:
Resetting the Cuda/PMU
How to reset the PMU:
• If the computer is on, turn it off.
• Disconnect ALL cables from the computer, including peripherals and power.
• If possible, move the computer to a place where you are not standing on carpet.
• Open the case and ground yourself by touching part of the metal frame inside the computer.
• Find the Cuda or PMU button
• Press the Cuda or PMU button ONCE. Do not press the button more than once before starting the computer up again.
• Wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the cables you removed in step 2 and turn the computer on.
• If the computer still does not respond after resetting the PMU, the computer may require service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
8) ran disk utilities, repaired permissions
9) found a setting in the system preferences that a chat room person suggested had something to do with fan speed. In Energy Saver, under options, processor performance was set to highest, I set it to automatic - this did not change anything that I could tell - BTW I checked my other G5 (a single processor that works fine) that is the setting that that it is set to, and it is nice and quiet.
10) restarted the machine, ..
11) found a Fan Control System Update - but it did not install when I tryed to install it -
12) booted from OSX install disk and ran that disk utility
13) used OnyX to fix disk permissions, clear caches and temp items
Nope - still have the same high speed fan problem. ... PLEASE HELP!!
I have been reading in the MacInTouch reader reports - found this: some one said to use this - thermal re-calibration using the Apple Authorized Service Providers' disk - but that's not available, at least I can not find it - anyone? have an answer to finding this - or can do it for me? I am in Chicago.The Genius at the downtown apple store said that because it's a "legacy machine" they would not work on it, .. so should I push them?
Well, I personally think that's ridiculous, I'd Push them, I'd call AppleCare & talk up the chain if need be... there the ones that have or should have that Disc... man o man... Personally I'll never visit an Apple Store again in my lifetime, maybe try an independent AASP if none of that helps!..

My PowerMac has dual boot capabilities, and I was using OS 9.2.1, when OS 9 crashed. I resetted my computer and held down "X" to get back into OSX 10.4, but instead of getting back in, I'm stuck at the gray startup screen with the Apple logo and the spinning circle thing.
I've already restarted twice, and resetted the PRAM button, can somebody please help?
Oh, and I don't have the 10.4 disksWow, actually around the same time you replied it finnaly got through, after waiting for about half an hour. Some applications such as iTunes are slower than they used to, should I restart my computer?

When I try to burn my DVD I get an error that says:
"The recording device reported the hardware error: Unknown device error. (0x44, 0x90.)"
Please Help!!I'm not familiar with that specific error but I would recommend using Toast to burn your disc if you have it. I have found much more success using that over DVDSP.
Another option would be to use Finder. Put in your blank disc, in Finder choose New Burn Folder, put your files in that window and burn.
Third, you could use Disk Utility to burn as well.
