PLEASE HELP!!! Distortion during playback of audio

Hello everyone. I recently purchased an IMAC and Logic Xpress 8. I am using Lexicons Omega for my input source and for monitoring. When i play through the unit is records fine, but when i play back what i have recorded i get some horrendous digital distortion. I made sure all of the levels are set without any clipping, but still get the distortion when playing audio back. The distortion even seems to occur sometimes when there is no audio playing at all. Like while i am typing this. Any thoughts. i have had this setup for about 2 weeks and i am pulling my hair out just trying to get the monitoring thing under control. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

I did what you said. I have the core audio enabled and the Lexicon usb device clicked. I tried turning on and off the unit, changing usb port and restarting the program and nothing. Still there. Any other thoughts. My other idea was to use the built in sound to play back my audio via an 1/8 inch to 2 1/4 splitter cable direct into my monitors, and then use just the lexicon to get the audio into the computer. Is this possible and if so how???

Nudging audio during playback with audio plugins applied causes crash

Hi,
We are having some unusual crashes at the moment in a very specific situation:
1. An audio effect is applied to at least one track of audio. Reverb and compression cause it but not EQ.
2. During playback
3. Nudging an audio clip using Alt and the left and right arrow keys. One nudge is ok, several quick nudges in succession causes a crash.
The machine starts beachballing and never seems to stop. Video playback continues.
This is obviously quite easy to workaround but just wondering if anyone else is having this issue and also wanted to highlight to Adobe.
Specs:
Mid 2010 Mac Pro 2 x 2.9GHz 6 Core Xeon
32GB RAM
nVidia GTX 680
240GB SSD boot drive
2TB internal cache drive

Premiere Pro CC freezes on a frame during playback, but audio keeps playing?

Hi,
First time poster, long time visitor to the boards. Running a new Mac "Pony Keg" (I think calling it a "trash can" invites bad performance ) with OSX 10.9.5. Here's a recurring issue: I am playing back a sequence and then it will freeze on a frame (different everytime) and the audio keeps playing. I can stop the playback and it will continue to play, but the frame is locked in. Next, I'll quit out of the app, and try to reopen, but nothing happens because Premiere never actually quit. I'll pull up Force Quit window and it reads as "not responding." I'll Force Quit, relaunch the project and things will work again for a while, and then I need to do a whole reboot. Any thoughts on what might be causing this freeze frame issue or why Premiere won't actually quit? I've seen these posts in some various threads, but not these two issues in the same thread. Thanks in advance for any help and insights offered!

I would suggest these things:
Do this first: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
If that doesn't help, Change the Video Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine software only under File > Project settings > General. Delete previews after clicking on OK.
If nothing helps, try this:
Go to the following locations:
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces, keyboard shortcuts and media cache.

PLEASE HELP... Flash Audio Scratchy w/ latest player 9.0 r115

I'm using Firefox on XP. The red flash audio button on my web
page plays the audio, but it is very scratchy (see sample at:
www.BizSplash.com/sample).
This appears to have happened since I upgraded to the latest
flash player 9.0.115. The audio plays fine on my other computer
with an earlier release of the 9.0 flash player.
How can this be corrected please? The audio quality is
terrible all of a sudden. It has been working fine for years before
this new flash player came out.

I suspect this is a Yahoo problem. They'll need to update
their Flash Plaeyr detection. I wrote about it yesterday in several
threads on this forum, and in my blog at

You should contact them immediately and let them know.
I ran a quick test and I had no problem using chat in FireFox
with the FP10 plugin. It only failed when I tried it in IE6 with
the FP10 ActiveX control (see below). Make a note of this when you
contact yahoo.
In the meantime, I'll see if we have any connections at yahoo
that we can ping on our side..

This is incorrect. The Flash Player ActiveX control is only
used with IE Windows. All other browsers and platforms use the
Flash Player plugin.

Several seconds of distortion during playback

My video plays smoothly in Final Cut and there are no problems when I export the file and play it in QuickTime.
Now I'm trying to burn the video to DVD. The preview in iDVD plays perfectly and the project burns successfully...
But when I play the DVD there's about 3 seconds near the start where the picture is completely distorted, and then returns to normal. I tried with a new DVD and the same problem occurs.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.
Video problems (often distortion, pixilation, or freezing) can result from too many errors during the burning process. High quality DVD-Rs will reduce burn errors (Verbatim is often recommended around here; I like Sony as well). Breaking the burning process into two steps can help as well -- use the Save As Disc Image command in iDVD to create a virtual DVD (that you can test). Then use Roxio Toast or Apple's Disk Utility to Copy the virtual DVD to an actual DVD.
I seem to remember that early versions of iDVD need a third party utility to create a disc image (Patchburn, as I recall). Burn slower than the highest rated speed of your burner (eg. 1 or 2x on a 4x burner).

Can you please help with importing CDs and audio books?

I tried to search for this topic, but had no luck.
Have been happy with IPOD until today. On trying to import a new audio book to iTunes and then updating IPOD to install on it, I can see the title in both the iTunes Library and menu of IPOD. However, instead of seeing a normal 57:32 (or similar stop time), I am seeing 789:57:13.152. When I try to play it through iTunes or IPOD, it skips it as if it wasn't there and plays something else. I checked out importing a music CD, and find the same problem.

let's first see if you can get the CDs to import normally if you switch off "error correction" in the iTunes Advanced-Importing preferences subtab.
but if no joy there, try checking through the other suggestions from the following document:

PLEASE HELP itunes only recognizes first audio cd for import...

I have been through every topic, discussion, and trouble shooting method. I have been on this computer for 12 hours...PLEASE, someone must know. Lost a computer and started new itunes and was able to use this forum to get all my music from ipod into new itunes. I am now only able to "rip" one audio cd into itunes per session. After that, itunes does not recognize the next. If computer is restarted, i can again "rip" one. I did find this exact topic in apple trouble shooting, but info was not pertanent to this situation. I don't know how tech savy some of you might be out there, so i will include the info given to me when i run cd/dvd diagnostics. I have OCD and can't use Mediaplayer for import then transfer to itunes. Seriously...itunes should work with ipod, right? I backed up my entire library, restored my computer to an earlier date before any problems with itunes. Uninstalled itunes, and started from scratch. Installed new, reloaded library...actually imported 3 audio cd's and then again...disaster, same problem. It won't recognize anymore. If i restart the computer, itunes will again read one or two and then fail to recognize again. Anyone?

[PLEASE HELP!] .m4v and .mpeg4 Audio Export problems (QT 7 pro)

When i try to export any clips to .m4v (movie to ipod) or .mpeg4 the video is exported but has no sound. When i select "export to .mpeg4" and click on "options" it says "audio: no audio track in source movie". This is the same message displayed on all the clips i have tried to export.
Does anyone know how i can record the audio for .m4v files or .mpeg4 files?

I'm using Quicktime Pro v 7.0.4 on Mac. I tried exporting Quictime mpeg4 to iPod format and get only video but no audio! And I'm talking Apple all the way. These files were made from a Sony digital camera with the digital video record option.
Believe most (if not all) Sony digital cameras still use MPEG video format. As such, the files contain a "muxed" stream consisting of blocks of video data interspersed with blocks of audio data for A/V synchronization. As Kirk alluded to above, QT is a "frame-to-frame" sync application and does not fully support "muxed" (e.g., MPEG1, MPEG2, VOB, some AVI, MJPEG, etc.) formats.
I do use a 3rd party program called Snapz Pro X to capture to .mpeg4 and these files export just fine to iPod format!
Good solution for capturing streamed video but not the best here. As you suggested, use a third party, MPEG based application like iSquint (free) or, better yet, MPEG Streamclip (free) for one-step conversion with audio.
I tried to convert the mpeg4 format to MOV format and then convert MOV to m4v but no audio there.
No surprise here. If you check your first MPEG4 file you will see that no audio track was present following the initial conversion and no amount of further conversions will add a non-existent audio track.

What are the specifications of the clip?
What sequence settings are being used?
What operating system?
What graphics card and driver are you using?
Have you updated to 5.5.1 yet?

Audio dropping out during playback in timeline

Hey everyone,
I've dug through these forums and unless I just completely overlooked it I have not found a solution to this issue. I've listed my setup below and then have stated the issue I'm experiencing.
27-inch, Mid 2011 iMac
3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
16GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6970 1024MB
Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Currently working off of a portable 1TB G-Technology G-DRIVE via FW800.
Working in Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.2
Editing in a sequence with settings:
1920 x 1080 23.976fps (also tried in a 29.97fps timeline with same issue)
Working with footage that is 23.98fps
Working with a combination of ProRes 422 (LT) and native H.264 Quicktime files strait from a 5D Mark 3.
The issue I'm having is during playback the audio will competely drop out. The video will continue playing on just fine but the audio drops completely out. All audio levels drop as well in the audio mixer meters so it truly is losing all communication with my audio layers in the timeline.
I read in other forums to go into Finder and delete out the .caf files, re open Premiere Pro, wait for them to be recreated then carry on. I tried this approach with no luck. Deleting the .caf did not change anything. Audio is still dropping out as I try to play through my timeline. The only way to get the audio back is to pause then press play again. I have 5 total channels of audio with only 2 of those channel active.
Any ideas on what is happening would be greatly appreciated. This is incredibly frustrating have to export out a video just to be able to watch it through.

Having this annoying problem also. Using the Space Bar to play timeline it takes pressing and holding to a count of three or trying press play three time in a row using the space bar to get ungarbled audio, or any audio at all in a normal uncomplicated sequence on the timeline.
Really annoying. Audio used to be so simple and untaxing to a sequence.

Audio levels on an external monitor vary during playback when using HDMI audio

I've been having issues with movie playback using a large 1080p HDMI TV. During playback the audio level will come in strong, go faint, then go strong again, but not on any sort of pattern I could discern. It did this on three seperate movies legally purchased via iTunes. I get audio and video without trouble, its just the audio goes soft when it shouldn't.
If you remember the VHS days and "MACROVISION" encoding, then you have an idea what it was doing, although it was the audio levels, not the video playback.
Is this a fault of the system, a DRM gremlin, or something else?

I think you may be onto something with the graphics card concept. The problem I am having only exists when I am working on an HD project. When I switched back to DV-NTSC then the monitor is fine during playback.
Yes, I am routing my external monitor through my DV deck, which is not an HD deck - so again, that could be another weak link in the chain.
This is the first HD project that I am editing, so obviously a few kinks still need to be worked out. My internal hard drive has 1.5 gigs of ram but I am not sure what the specs are on the graphics card.

Premiere freezing and delayed playback, plays audio after force quit

I'm working with 350 hours of AVCHD c100 and h264 from 5D. The media is on a thunderbolt RAID 1 and I'm running CC 2014 on a 2014 Mac Pro with 6 cores, 3gb GPU and 32GB ram.
After about an hour of editing, I get delayed playback, and delayed response from keyboard or trackpad input. I can save - and after that I've waited up to a half an hour while the program is frozen. If it froze during playback, the audio continues to play through the system even after force quit. The only way to start over is a system restart.
any ideas? I've had trouble moving projects in the past, and media cache issues were to blame for similar symptoms, but it's much worse this time

First two things to check are permissions and prefs.
Prefs: go to Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/8.0 and rename the folder "<username>-Profile." When you launch PPro, all new prefs will be written.

First Gen 5GB: Static during playback

Help! During playback (using original driver) the sound output suddenly became very noisy/fuzzy/staticky. I erased the drive, reset it and loaded updated drivers but no change. Is this now a paperweight?

Hi Clayton,
A couple of ideas: the simplest (but least likely to work) is to look down into the headphone jack to see if you can see the two copper colored contacts. If one appears to be bent in, you could try to very gently ease it out.
The second is to fix the solder on the earphone jack. This is more complicated (but do-able) and seems to be not too uncommon a problem (is yours a second generation iPod, 20Gb?). You can read my other thread about it here;
