Please help.. downlaoding songs

ok i downloaded some songs but when i delete them on my computar it deletes them on my iPod. is their any way i could make it not delete them on my ipod and delete them on my computar cuz i dont want songs slowing down my computar

yes, if you manually manage your songs then you can keep songs on your ipod that you dont have on your computer. But you have to handpick every song you put on your ipod.

  • PLEASE HELP LOCATE SONGS FROM EXTERNAL HD (Cloud)

First off, I would like to thank ANYONE who can help me out please! I am desperate now for some advice to help me through this, I have spent the last 10 Hours (Not Exaggerating) trying to find a solution to my problem online and reading through countless things I HAVE NOT been able to get an answer to resolve the issue that I am having. Please I beg you to help me! I just wanna call Apple Support so that someone can walk me through this but I am using a Windows and they won't take calls from Windows users (which is kind of lame since I am an Iphone/Ipad/Itunes customer just not on an Apple Computer) and honestly I would even pay money to have this issue fixed already I just don't wanna waste any more time on it!!!
SO, that being said. Here is the most concise explanation I can give you of my troubles!
    1. I have both a Laptop and a Desktop. My Laptop has been my primary source for Itunes for the passed 8 years, however, it is old and I want to start using my Desktop for Itunes from now on..also, I NEED to free up space on my Laptop so that I can back up my Iphone 5 which has a broken screen, but that's another story!
    2. I Purchased something called a "WD MY CLOUD" Which is basically a personal ICloud that has 2TB of external HD Space on it. I hooked up my WDMyCloud and configured it, got it working perfectly, and I began the multiple hour long process to transfer my ITUNES Folder from my Laptop over to the WDMyCloud.
    3. All of the files and songs were successfully transferred from my Laptop to the WDMyCloud.
    4. I Installed Itunes onto my Desktop.
    5. I shift+clicked Itunes and chose the Itunes Library from my WDMyCloud. I believe the file is found in: \\WDMYCLOUD\Oliver\iTunes\iTunes Library. (And that is the .itl)
    6. When I have Itunes open, I go to preferences, and I change the MEDIA Folder to the iTunes Music Folder located on my WDMyCloud. I believe the file is found as: \\WDMYCLOUD\Oliver\Itunes\iTunes Music. (It does have all of my songs in there on the WDMyCloud in Folders by Album or however itunes had it organized)
    7. Now I am staring at my Itunes Playlists and All of my Songs are there, however, whenever I try to Play ANY Song on there I receive this error: "The song "xx" could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to Locate it?" (And no, I would not like to manually locate over 3,000 songs)
Also, every single Song has an "!" Exclamation mark next to it.
    8. If I use "Get Info" about the track to see where Itunes is looking for the track, I will show you an example now here to what it says:
    "file://localhost/C:/Users/Oliver/Downloads/Firebeatz - Gangster (Original Mix).mp3"
(Now I do realize that this is incorrect, it should be looking for the songs in my WDMyCloud, that path above is from my Laptop's Downloads Folder and I have no idea how to fix this.)
    9. I have also tried using the "FindTracks.vbs" on my \\WDMYCLOUD\Oliver\Itunes\iTunes Music Folder and this did nothing, at all.
    10. I have opened the Itunes Library XML that is saved onto my WDMyCloud from my Laptop, and it shows the script as:
    <plist version="1.0"><dict><key>Major Version</key><integer>1</integer><key>Minor Version</key><integer>1</integer><key>Date</key><date>2014-05-24T16:40:35Z</date><key>Application Version</key><string>11.2</string><key>Features</key><integer>5</integer><key>Show Content Ratings</key><true/><key>Music Folder</key><string>file://localhost//WDMYCLOUD/Oliver/Itunes/iTunes%20Music</string><key>Library Persistent ID</key><string>5C3728163E81BB1D</string><key>Tracks</key>
    <p
^^ Now I'm not really sure how clumped up that is going to look once I post cuz when I tried copy/pasting it from the XML on to here it came out looking super weird, but as you can see the key thing there is that the file it says it's looking in is the Itunes Music file in my WDMyCloud. So I don't know what could be wrong with the XML script path if there is anything wrong with it at all. The rest of the XML is super super long list of all my tracks and albums an such which is obviously unimportant to this matter. But maybe this can help figure out my problem.
Anyway, that's about as far as I was able to get after 10 hours of research, and like I said, still no solution. I'm stuck! Please please please help me figure this out! One of the biggest reasons I purchased this WDMyCloud was to use it as a consistent Itunes mediator between my devices and I absolutely MUST free up space on my Laptop ASAP and this is the only way! Thank you so much for your help in advance!!

See Make a split library portable for some general advice on making a working library portable. It should be less hassle than fixing a broken one.
    Since the library works perfectly on the laptop I would suggest you start over and do it like this;
    1. Create a new iTunes folder in the root of the external as \\WDMYCLOUD\iTunes (capitalised as shown please, just to appease my OCD)
    2. Copy into it the following items from C:\Users\Oliver\Music\iTunes
    Album Artwork
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    sentinel
    3. Shift-start iTunes and open the library at \\WDMYCLOUD\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
    4. Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced change the media folder to \\WDMYCLOUD\iTunes\iTunes Media (again capitalised as shown please)
    5. Use File > Library > Organize Library. Tick both boxes, or the one that isn't greyed out, then click OK.
iTunes will gather in copies of all your media files, putting them into the correct locations so that the library is in the modern layout, and able to be moved from one machine to another.
I'd recommend you clone the entire iTunes folder to another drive (see this backup tip) before you think about cleaning the originals.
If your library is large then having the library files on a network share will slow things down as the database has to be written out almost any time you do anything with your library. Once you've connected the library to the new computer and had it opened and working you can copy the library files and Album Artwork folder into the local C:\Users\Oliver\Music\iTunes folder (deleteing what is already there first) then shift-start-iTunes and connect to C:\Users\Oliver\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl. If/when you want to move the library to a different drive/computer copy the files back out to the drive and access the library there at lease once before the move.

  • Please help with songs.

Hi. I have one of the older ipod nanos and I am going to sell it to someone and I have a lot of music on there that I don't have on my touch so I was wondering, is there any way to get the songs off of my ipod nano and onto itunes or my other ipod? thank you!

  • PLEASE HELP, certain songs have sort of an unwanted "memory point"

    Hey guys,
I've posted this question before but no one answered.
I am using Iphone 3G, with the latest software updates and all. I have many songs, some of them surprisingly have a memory point. By that I mean a certain point of time in the song, say at minute 2:00, say I want to go to minute 3 or 4 or anywhere in the song after 2:00 by fast forward or backward, the song will always go to point 2:00 and will play from there.
I erased all my songs, and synced again the problem still occurred. those music files don't have this problem when played in windows media player on my PC.
    can anybody help PLEASE ?

Highlight the song in iTunes, Get Info, go to the Options tab and check that the start and end times are not ticked - if they are untick them.
Same goes to the poster who created ringtones - when you create them you set a start and end time on the track to make the smaller ringtone, but you need to go back to the original track and revert to the actual play time of the track.
Hope that sorts it for you.

  • Please help! songs are duplicated and lost!

can anyone help me? i'm having trouble with updating my songs into the library as the songs are all duplicated and many of them has exclamation marks at the front which says that the original source is missing and the songs therefore are lost! i use a PC, but hardly think that is the reason and now i have a library full of songs in at least three copies and don't know where it went wrong! i think i can't organise my folders properly but now i don't know how to fix it! please, someone help.

The error is caused becuase there was a prevous copy of that file at the old location and iTunes is looking for the same file on both locations. If one of the two files for that song work, simply delete the non-working one from your iTunes library and that should fix the problem.
As for the WMA format, iTunes- being an apple product- uses a different format (usually AAC). But as it is an apple product and it feels the need to be better than any microsoft version, iTunes will convert it for you if the file is an unprotected WMA file, protected WMA files cannot be converted by iTunes. First you must have Windows Media Player 9 or later installed on your pc. Then, to convert the file simply drag and drop it into you iTunes library and iTunes will do the rest.
    Hope this helps.

  • PLEASE HELP - DUPLICATE SONG TITL

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can tell me how i can put songs onto my creative vision M with the same name or is it not possible? It just comes up with skip track or replace track, and i dont want to skip it or replace the existing track with the same name. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks 4 ur time!

I actually have quite a few songs that have the same name, so I had to add a - or other acceptable character to the end of the title. That's the only thing I found that worked for me.

  • Please help - no songs appear in playlists on ipod

background: I had a problem with my puter, changed it. reinstall ipod and itunes, updated and even restored the ipod.
The itunes is now displaying all songs added. But, no songs are apprearing on any folder/menu on the ipod itself.
If i use a proggy "ipod access for windows" I see all the songs on the ipod (just checking that they are there).
But, I cannot see/display anyting on the ipod, the laylist menu just has "on-the'go" and that too is blank underneath.
    thanks for any help/

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.
    Strange iPod behaviour.

  • PLEASE HELP! Songs showing up, but missing? HELP!

Yes, I know I've already posted this in another category. I'm not spamming to get answers, I just realized it was in the wrong category (the one I already posted).
    So.....here's my problem.
I accidentally unplugged my iPod without hitting the "Eject" button first, and now my iPod's acting strange. Which I don't get; I've done that several times before (on accident, obviously), and they never got screwed up like this.
All my songs, playlists, etc. are showing up, but when I hit Play, they don't work. The play icon appears in the upper left hand corner, but nothing happens with the song. My headphones are plugged in all the way (although, they are pretty worn down), and the iPod's not frozen. It just says its playing, but the song doesn't play or progress (the timeline stays on 0 seconds).
But...I can still pause it, adjust the volume, rate it, look at the menu, play games, all that. So its obviously not frozen.....
And, when I put new songs on there, they worked fine, so did my photos! So, were my old songs erased somehow, but still showing up? sigh Normally I would just put the old songs on the iPod again, but....I'm on vacation. Three hours away from home. I've reset it more times than you can imagine. It didn't work.
HELP! Is there any way to restore the songs....without driving three hours first?
(EDIT: OH **** IT. I POSTED IN THE WRONG CATEGORY AGAIN. GAY COMPUTER.)

I had the same problem - but could be caused by different issues. My issue was that more than one person was logged into the computer when the Nano was connected. For some reason it then mounted as a physical drive which could be seen by the other user (the iTunes preference was set to NOT mount as a drive). The issue is serious because the second time this happened it froze the entire machine. Anyway, I have found that only the "owner" of the Nano should be logged in when it is connected and it should behave properly.
If this isn't your issue, then try just closing iTunes - the "Do Not Disconnect" sign should turn off. If not, then log out and turn off the computer. You will not lose any files on the Nano.
    Cheers
    Rudy

  • Please HELP! Song appears in playlists and song lists, but when clicked, it goes to a random song. Nano only, not itunes. I have the nano thats almost like a square with the click wheel.

ONLY SOME songs appear in song list, but when clicked, play a random song instead of the one i chose. You can play the song on iTunes, just not the ipod nano. (the one that has a clickwheel and looks almost like a square)

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device.  If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

  • Someone please help! song cuts off

I bought a cd from ITunes store, downloaded it, synced it to my nano & 1 of the songs cuts off half way thru, the next song starts (while still under the previous title) plays all the way thru then starts again under its own title.

I recommend to convert all your Music with iTunes itself. A lot of people had the problem (see earlier threads), that songs cut off during playback on iPod, even if they do play in iTunes.
The Reason is, that iPod nano has problems to read the MP3 Encoding of some converting programs. So just convert all of your songs (which wont play correctly) with iTunes itself. So go into your library, highlight these songs, right-click, choose "convert to AAC" (this is standard. You can set MP3 in the preferences in iTunes also...I've done so....thats better for other players then iPod )
After the new converting, you can delete the older (double) songs. Than just sync iPod again and you're done.
    Regards, Chris

  • My ipod says it was et up with another itunes library, it wasn't, and when I add songs to my library when I go back into it they are all gone, please help im going in circles

Please help, I am constanly re importing songs, I have to re sync my ipod to my library each time i plug it in, and I am unable to import songs from my media player, any ideas?

When I plug it in I get the **'s ipod is already synced with another itunes library so do I want to erase & sync message
Even though it is the same music in iTunes, iTunes does not see it as the exact same library because you had to re-add all the songs to it.
You will need to erase and sync and you iPod will simply end up as it is now.
It's like of your house burns down and you rebuild it exactly the same, it is still not the "same" house it was.

  • Songs in Ipod but not in itunes library. no option to back up so i can restore. Will someone please help me?

  • Updated iTunes and now can't remove songs from my iPod - please help

I've updated iTunes to version 11.0.0.163 and have an iPod Nano 16gb 5th generation.
In iTunes, I'm no longer able to manually select songs to remove them from my iPod - I can't even see the list of music that's on my iPod. The only option it gives me is to sync, and I don't want to do that. Before I upgraded iTunes, it was easy to move music between my iPod and iTunes, now I can't - what's happened?
My iPod is full so I want to remove some music, not all of it. Any advice? Please help - I'm going round in circles!
    Thanks

Ctrl + B for show Top Menu
    View > Show Sidebar
itunes will now look more like itunes 10.
You can click on your device in the lefthand window as before
You may prefer to use the Music Sync page to select or deselect Playlists, Artists, Albums etc and click apply.
Delete your files is enabled by ticking the Manualy manage music option on the Device Summary page. You may have to scroll down to find it
