PLEASE HELP - how do I download old library onto new ipod???

My old IPOD broke & will not function. I bought a new IPOD and need to download the music from my original ipod library on to my new IPOD (same computer). How do I do this?? Please help me - I have so much music downloaded already that I am afraid of losing or needing to download again. Any suggestions??? Many thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Is the music on your computer? If so then make sure everything is updated...

Then just connect the iPod and it will sync the songs in iTunes.
Post back if I misunderstood your question

  • How do I get entire library onto new computer without old ipod (stolen) or old computer (died)? When I plugged in my new ipod 5th gen, it only synced purchases.

How do I get entire library onto new computer without old ipod (stolen) or old computer (died)?  I just bought an ipod 5th gen and when I plugged it in, it only synced purchases.

You restore the media to your new computer using the backup you made of your old computer before it died. You did backup your computer, right?

  • Please help converting i-tunes from old computer to new computer!!?

    Hi there,
Please keep in mind I am not very computer literate and therefore although I am sure this is a very easy question I can't do it and I need some help!!!
I have upgraded my old computer. This had my i-tunes on it, however after a while it got so slow I started to keep music on an external hard drive, which resulted in my music files being split. I have now dragged and dropped everything on to my hard drive under one folder (I think) and I now want to put this on to my new computer.
Well actually I want to keep my library on the hard drive so that anything I download etc goes on to there (this computer is just a stop gap for now). I have changed the file location in preferences but cannot seem to get it to pick up the music from the hard drive!!!
What do I do!!? Any help appreciated...!
    Thanks in advance

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This Apple article (link) explains how to move your music library between computers and in addition it explains how you can ensure all your music is consolidated into one location. Hopefully that will cover everything you need.

  • How do i download my library onto another pc

My ipods screen has stopped working and also my pc is broken, how do i download my ipod library to another pc.

Some of the information below has subsequently been summarized by turingtest2 in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/message/18842615
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/

  • Downloading old purchases onto new computer

I have just bought a new computer after my laptop died. Will I be able to download the purchases I have made on  my old laptop onto my new computer or will I have to buy all the albums again?

It depends on what country that you are in as to whether you can re-download them for free : re-downloading. If you are not in a country where you can currently re-download past music purchases then if they are on your iPod then you should be able to copy them to your new computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases, otherwise have you got a backup of your purchases on, for example, an external drive that you can copy to your computer ?

  • Old music onto new ipod??

so i lost my ipod about a month ago and now i'm getting another one, and i'm pretty positive that i can't just plug in the old one...so how do i get all my old music onto my new ipod?
    THANKS

You can restore/re-install i-tunes if you relocate your ipod files to another directory and then use the inport directories command under file menu.
I found out the only problem with this is that I lost 100 dollars or more of iTunes software I paid for. I consider this a theft on Apple's part. This is because the software doesn't allow for any work around. Yes I paid for it. You heard it here first. But even though I paid for it, I cannot use it on the new fifth gen iPOD!!
That's just not right. I am supposing this is another revenue generator for Jobs.

  • How do I get old library onto my new computer ?

I've just bought a new computer and need to know how to download my songs etc onto the new computer. I turned on home sharing but not sure how that works. Any help out there ?
    Thanks

what you want to see in iTunes is this (view from my MBP's iTunes seeing the library on my Mini)
if you then click on the house icon, it will change to this and the shared library will load. at that point, two buttons will appear in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, being settings and import
now you should be able to import any content from any shared library by selecting the content and clicking on import.
if the icon looks like this , home sharing has not been set up correctly.
in order for home sharing to work
    (a) iTunes on all machines must be authorized for the same iTunes store account
    (b) all machines must be on the same network
    (c) all machines must have access to the internet.
these reads will be useful: one and two.

  • How can I import old library to new iPhoto on new Mac

I bought a new macbook pro and need to move my library over but already have some pics in the new library.  What is the best way to add the old 20GB library to my new iPhoto?

    To migrate a Library:
Link the two Macs together even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
However you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
The only way to merge the two libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager
If you've not done much with the photos already on the new machine then simply export them from that iPhoto, copy the main library over and then import them to that library
