What can I do if my oldest TimeMachine backup is older than the beginning of the missing HD space..

I would get an external drive today and copy all your stuff off the TC.. forget trying to load more onto it. There is a good chance after 3years (A 2TB should be only about 2years tops), the disk or the TC itself is on the way out. Do it immediately. If TM is also failing to backup you need to recognise symtoms of impending doom.
Unfortunately the error messages are archane and it is hard to discover their meaning.
You also cannot verify a network drive.. you can verify the TM sparsebundle though so do that.

Reboot the whole network from off.. certainly if you run later OS it can simply lose the drive..
If you still fail to be able to copy to the TC.. then get that external and copy off it. Tell us if you can do that.

PLEASE HELP!!! disk space is low message

i received a disk space is low message as i am working in my lightroom 5. i keep clicking ok and it does not let me get out of this screen. it is telling me i need to remove files or empty trash to make space. do i need to make space in lightroom or on my hard drive? please help, i have had this issue before.

25% seems pretty arbitrary and unreasonable.
With today's drive that means on a 2TB drive I need to keep 1/2 TB free. That means I am paying for 2TB with only 1.5 usable just to use LR. In my case where I have four 2TB drive I have to have 2TB free or equivalently have an entire drives worth of space (4*500M) I should not be using.
Even given that was true I get a similar message and it states I do not have at least 20M free on the drive where my catalog is. The drive where my catalog is has 800M+ of a 2TB drive free (exceeding the 25% rule).
And if you are talking about just the "C:" or "root" drive then I have a 250G drive with over 180M free. And neither my catalog or my pictures are on it.
Still looking for an answer.
It is very annoying to be in the middle of an edit and have the message pop up and stop the edit. Then you have to clear the message, undo the incomplete edit and start over hoping the message does not come back.
Any additional suggestions?

I am quite emotional at the moment, if anyone can help me access my files, pictures of my baby daughter and important documents.. I would be extremely grateful and willing do make a donation via paypal.
I have a 160 GB hard drive, which was partitioned as 30GB Spare and 130GB with my operating system and user files, including my filevault user directory.
My computer was downloading movies which filled up the 130GB partition, most of the 130GB is contained in my personal filevault user directory, my computer became very slow and unresponsive and i tried to free up space by deleting files which i no longer needed.
The machine became slow and un-responsive and required a number of forceful shut downs and restarts until the machine would no longer boot up, I inserted the OSX CD and attempted to boot from CD and use disc utility which now only displays my 30GB storage space, I was forced to install OSX on the remaining 30GB partition.
Now running OSX on the 30GB partition i used DISK DRILL to scan my hard disk for the missing 130GB partition which it did and i was able to save this as a DMG file to a external hard disk, now i am able to get this DMG to mount in the OSX i am running on the spare 30GB space, however i am not able to access the majority of the data inside the file vaulted user account.
I would like to know, would it be possible to restore the missing partition, as it remains on the HD but seems to be hidden.
Or is there somehow i can login to the user account on the mounted DMG ?
I am not very familiar with using terminal and would be extremely grateful for any advice or support leading to the recovery of my files.

Probably not.    You've now deleted the partition. It was probably useless anyway, though.
When i run disk drill or other disk recovery tools i am able to see the partition including including the files and my personal sparsebundle.
But you can't open the sparse bundle, much less see any of the files inside it, right?
Since you've already recovered the (probably-damaged) sparse bundle containing your encrypted home folder, you'll have to work with it.
I'd strongly recommend making another copy of that on another external HD and putting that "on the shelf" before doing anything else to it.   I suspect you have little chance of recovery, but don't take the risk of further damage.
You haven't answered my earlier questions:
Have you tried to run Repair Disk on either the original or copied partition?

Do you have Time Machine backups?
Obviously, now that the partition has been deleted, you can't run repair disk on it, but try it on the recovered disk image.
You need more expertise than either Christopher or I have. Since Apple no longer uses "legacy" File Vault, it will be more difficult for them to help, too.
Is your Mac covered by AppleCare? If so, give them a call.

If not, one of them may know of an outside service than can help. That will be quite expensive.

Please, help! suddenly missing all the files in a almost finished movie..

I quit FCPro X normaly before I close the macbookpro. (bad expirience if I don't do that)
After restarting FCPX the next day I could work in a other project/movie as usual.
But by switsching tot another, almost ready project/movie, I miss ALL the clips while the timeline is o.k. with the sound playing.
What can I do because i did not found a search-function to re-connect missing media als in FCE4.
Any helpfull sugestions?

I'm sorry to say you are experiencing a problem that might not have an easy solution. Apple has not provided a reconnect/relink media feature in FCPX, which is what you seem to need. It does seem that something did touch your original media files and did something to them. But I can't imagine what; FCE4 is non-destructive and wouldn't modify source media even if you did use it. You didn't move the media, or change any names, did you?
How many clips do you have in the timeline? If they aren't a huge amount, there might be a workaround which involves opening each timeline clip (using the "open in timeline" command) and then replacing the contents with the original media clip. You drag the original clip on top of the missing clip so that it turns white, and then in the pop-up, choose "Replace." Apparently this will fix the timeline clips.
Someone else suggested an easier (but more dubious) fix -- select (in the finder) all your original clips that are used in the timeline; drag them over the timeline but don't actually let go of the mouse. Then, move the mouse out of the timeline back to where the clips lived and let go of the mouse (so nothing actually occurred). For someone, this fixed the problem.

Please help Ssid key missing

so i put in in the ip adress and went to the page where i can change all of my setting and went to change my ssid yet i couldnt not find the box anywhere on the page can someone help me i realy wish to change it

new routers have this tab sequence: setup, wireless, security...
with that you can see the ssid under the wireless...
old router have this: setup, password...
with that the ssid can be found on the bottom part of the setup tab...
If in case, you can not see the tabs, I believe the router needs to be upgraded.

PLEASE HELP! Not enough disk space for encoding...

I have set up my dvd project and am ready to burn, but when I insert a CD, it says "Not enough free disk space for encoding the remaining assets." How do I create enough space...where do I go to delete things? I'm not completely computer illiterate so if someone can give me a few steps to fix this problem, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
Also, what is better for home video burning? dvd+r or dvd-r?

First, if you are burning an iDVD project, you need to be inserting a blank DVD disk, not a CD disk. Be sure to use a recommended brand of DVD disk, such as Verbatim or Maxell. I find that DVD-R disks work well in most set-top DVD players.

How long in minutes is your project? If you have created a movie or slideshow that is over 60 minutes, you have to change the settings for iDVD to encode properly.
Look at iDVD's Preferences. It is found under the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, under iDVD.
Click on it and a window will pop up. Click on the Projects icon and look at the Encoding drop-down bar. If it is set to 'Best Performance' which is the default setting, you need to change it to either 'High Quality' or 'Professional Quality' to burn a DVD of more than 60 minutes of content.

Please help me reconnect missing files

I am using PSE 8 with windows 7. I opened my catalog and have about 2000 photos that need to be reconnected. I can see them in a folder called C:\mom\pictures\adobe\photoshop-com\20140918. I tried to reconnect them, but they are not found so I selected browse and pointed photoshop to the folder in which they exist (found via a windows search) and photoshop says it is an unsupported file type (it said JPEG on the properties) . I can't open them with photoviewer either. They are photos from 2005-2007.

Check the firewall settings of your security software to be sure that itunes and itunes helper are allowed.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Desparate and disheartened - please help me

hello i posted a couple of days ago but nobody posted backand i am really stuck
basically sorted out a few new playlists a short while ago on itune 4. pluggedin my ipod and it started to transfer then crashed
loads of the tunes in the playlists remained in itunes library but were deleted off of ipod. annoying as some of my fav tunes
then plugged in ipod again and it told me that some tunes not transferre as software to old
upgraded to v6
pluggged in again. same message. plus a message saying transfer error -69.
how can this beeeeee???????????
really stuck. have tried cleaning my registry. have backed up my ipod ot a removable disk. have copied the tunes that i can see are missing from ipod from library to the relevant file on removable disk.
some did not copy as there was a crc error
do i need to wipe and start again. is there any hope??????????????????????????????????????
please please please help me. i miss my favourite songs and i can't work out what to do.

thanks again for the help. managed to restore most of the stuff from my back up (sometimes i surprise myself with being organised enough to have done something like actually back up my ipod not so long ago-- if only work new that's what i use the external harddrive i made them buy for!)
turned out i needed to update my ipod software as well-- i kept seeing a message and thinking it was to itunes that it was telling me to update.
Now all is sweet and i spent all day yesterday listening to my favourite tunes
