Please help: I am unable to access PubMed on Safari on iMac! EtreCheck done

I am having trouble accessing the PubMed website on my iMac. I know there is no problem with the website as I can access it on my iPad, iPhone etc but for some reason I can now no longer access it through my Mac. When I do I receive the message, 'Safari can't connect to the server'. I have tried clearing cookies and cache, resetting Safari etc to see if that helped but I am still having the same problem.
I ran a test using the EtreCheck, the results of which are below.
Please help as I'm a Nursing student in the middle of my dissertation and I really need access to PubMed!

Go step by step and test.
1. Power cycle
     Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
     Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
     It will take a   while.
     Restart the computer.
     Start up in Safe Mode

2 Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Reset Safari.
    Click Safari in the menu bar.
    From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
      Click "Reset".
4. Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and all other website data:
     Press “Remove All Website Data” button

I have no idea what rtr planeta is but if it uses Flash, it won't work very well or at all on an iOS device. If it is Flash, try the Skyfire browser... it is supposed to run some Flash sites. Review it carefully before purchase.

The performance fixes is a biggy for me, though the other missing
stuff I use makes me have to use both versions for various things:

Well ... now that's the rub. I would actually welcome this intermediate version to play with (even with the cost of upgrading) if I could rely on it to be finalized into 6.0, full featured, without it taking as long as it has to Upgrade from AA3.0. I would say it was a VERY smart move to give us a preview of 6.0, if I felt in, say, six months they would provide us the fully functional update. But, HOW many years has it been. I felt screwed over while they played around with Sound Booth.
I was with you for a minute in most of what you said, until your credibility went down a couple notches with me on the statement trivializing midi functionality. I though that was a very clueless statement:

PLEASE HELP. How do you access properties files in WEB-INF and classes directory

We have a war file that needs to access properties files that are in the WEB-INF directory
of the war file. We also need to load one of the properties files from the classpath.
However, when we deploy the application ( an ear which inlcludes an ejbjar and a
war and the libraries both the ejbjar (with a manifest setting the classpath ) and
war need ) the properties don't get extracted.
In some of our servlets we are trying to access those files with the path "WEB-INF/foo.properties"
and we get a FileNotFoundException. Then we check and see that NO properties files
have been extracted into their appropriate places ( not even those we throw into
the WEB-INF/classes directory ).

The file doesn't have to be extracted from the war. For example, you can place
test.properties into your app WEB-INF and write a simple JSP to see how it
works:

It will return you a zip inputstream if you deployed your application as a .war.

Please Help!!! Problems access other classes methods

I am having a problem accessing another classes methods varibles. I have tried a number of ways but with no success. Here is my problem:
I have the main(), from there it's calls the class GetVar(), GetVar stores info in Class HousingForVar(), and finially, I have a class TryinToTalkToHousing() that I use to access HousingForVar()'s methods. I know I can use the keyword new but if I do that then it erases over the data I put in. Please can anyone help, this has been driving me nutz all day. Thank you in advance.

Please help, I'm unable to send an email with a pdf attachment

We have Windows 8 Pro on the pc, I have been trying to send a pdf document that my husband needs to his work and no matter how I try to send it (either from reader or directly from my email with the attachment it just will not send. Can anyone please help?

No worries. But it is strange that you cannot even send email with a PDF attachment from Microsoft Mail. At this point, no PDF viewers (e.g. Microsoft Reader, Adobe Reader Touch) are involved because you are not viewing PDF files.
Instead of saying "It won't send", you need to describe exactly what you see on the screen for every step. Where does the problem start?
Step 1: Attaching a PDF file to new email in Microsoft Mail
Are you able to find the PDF file and attach it to new email?
Step 2: Sending email with a PDF attachment
What happens when you click the Send button? Does it hang forever? Does it show an error message? Could you confirm that you can send email with other type of attachments (e.g. text file, Word file) from Microsoft Mail from the same PC?
You can provide the details to Microsoft for troubleshooting.
Alternatively, you can try to send email with the PDF attachment from other accounts like Gmail (Google Mail) or Yahoo Mail via the web browser (Internet Explorer) interface.
Sometimes, rebooting your system solves "mysterious" problems, too.

Please Help! I think my hard drive might have died (iMAC G3 600)

I'm really desparate for some help.
Directly after downloading Security Update 2007-006 my iMac G3 froze. It was switched off at the mains and since then won't get past the grey screen with the apple and the spinny thing.
I know very little about how computers work, troubleshooting etc so have spent hours searching the forum and the apple support pages, following which I have tried -
start in safe mode - no change
Boot from install disc and run disc utility. This appeared to be working but disc utility can't repair the drive and comes up with the following - 'Error - the underlying task reported failure on exit (-9972)'.
So I decided to have a go at starting up in single user mode and use fsck. But to no avail, it starts up in single user mode but never gets as far as the command line prompt. The final 3 lines of text say -
'disk0s5: I/O error.
Load of /sbin/mach_init, errno 2, trying /etc/mach_init
Load of etc/mach_init failed, errno 2'
and the screen is frozen, no chance of typing any commands in.
So HELP please! What does it all mean? Is my hard drive dead? Can I do anything else to try to save it? Is there anyway I can retrieve the contents of the drive if it is dead?
Sorry this is so long, I thought it best to try to explain methodically what has happened. If anyone ot there can help I will be made up.

I've seen this error when the read/write arm on a hard drive becomes inoperative. It looks like you need a new drive. Don't buy anything larger than 120GB, and the 7200 RPM drives work fine. Drive replacement pictoral - Takeapart for swapping drives - slot load. When you get to the step that advises taking out the drive cage, you don't really have to do that. Just loosen the 4 drive hold-down screws and slide the drive out.
Unfortunately, anything on the old drive is gone. This is how we all learn to make backups.

Please Help! Suddenly unable to open Mail, Address Book etc

This morning when I woke up my IBook my Mail was still open from yesterday. When I tried to open ICal it kept crashing. So I restarted and then suddenly ITunes, Mail, Address Book and ICal would not open at all!! (However, it seems that iPhoto, Appleworks, Safari etc is fine).
I do have a IPhone, but haven't synced in a week or so. Not sure that that would be relevant at all.
The other weird thing that has happened, is that all the info on the top right hand corner of my menu bar (my airport, date, weather snitch, spotlight etc) disappeared a few weeks ago. It has been blank there ever since. When I just did a check of those applications ( internet connect, weather snitch) they also didn't open now.

BTW, I just ran verify disk, and it stopped with this error message:

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!

Please help with Error #1009 Cannot access a property

I have a simple flash movie where play_btn should go to a label on a timeline where I have a video playing and a stop_btn should go back to a first frame (label "start") and thus give an illustion of stopping the movie.
I have no problem with the play_btn, however stop_btn doesn't work and when I test the movie I get the following error message:

I was able to fix it by putting all the buttons on the first frame and toggling visibility on/off. Here's the code:

PLEASE HELP...unable 2read CD i

I have just purchased a Creative Zen Nano Plus MP3 player and am trying to rip my CD's onto the MP3 player. When I put in my CD a messaage pops up and says "Unable to read audio CD information. The Programme will now exit". The thing then goes back to start. How can I rectify this problem

Iam getting the same error message now. I am 42 and have been using computers for over 25 years so you can assume I have tried to eliminate all the usual problems!?
The auto play is set to work, place a CD into the dri've and it will open and play.
So I am using a Zen 8GB trying to rip CDs into my 200GB music collection and onto my Zen.
Using Vista SP
The correct Zen Media Explorer software for Vista!
Anybody any ideas, apart from the creative help desk who's best answer so far is to use a PC with XP on it.....not very helpful.

Help, I am unable to access iTunes since installing update 7.1.1

Every time I click the icon, after a few seconds the message "The iTunes library/tl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is the "iTunes" folder in the "My Music" folder." Can anyone help please? It used to take me straight in, I can't open iTunes from the programme file icon either.

The best place to start with that one is with the following document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes

Please help - I'm unable to buy gift certificates using Click & Buy

Hi all,
Yesterday I tried to buy a e-mail gift certificate using Click & Buy as the payment method and I received the error message "Your payment method was declined - please check billing info and update your payment information".
I have verified my Click & Buy account by choosing no payment method, applying, and then re-selecting Click & Buy and re-verifying my Click & Buy account but I received the same error message.
I have bought a £15 GBP voucher today - hopefully that will work okay.
Is there some problem with authorisating payments at the moment or is this just a problem with my account?

I think I've found the answer to my problem on another thread. It appears that Apple are no longer offering e-mailed and printable gift certificates, possibly for security reasons. Hopefully, these security issues will be resolved and that Apple with restore the service, because I think a great number of people wish to use the service and have been inconvenienced.
