Please help - I can't free up space on my Nano!

I own an 8 gig iPod nano, 2nd gen. I've filled it up, and when I go on to delete whole playlists (and sometimes individual songs), it doesn't seem to free up any room on my nano. I've deleted massive playlists that are megs and megs and megs big, but my iPod still remains full.
I'm trying to add new music I've just bought and I can't. If at all possible, I don't want to wipe (I assume the "Restore" button in iTunes does that).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I haven't provided enough info, let me know. Thanks in advance!

I recently had that problem and after a good while I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. So basically:
- make sure you are managing your music manually - (use itunes help for this)
- select music (underneath the name of your ipod to the left of your itunes screen)
- once all music has been dispalyed to the right you can delete your chosen music here
When deleting the the way you were doing, you were only deleting the playlists from your ipod and not the actual music.

Whenever I select Word Microsoft Setup Assistant appears, asks for feedback, then after selecting okay (both on saying yes or no to feedback) goes on to a registration page. When I click on this it says I've already registered so I just click okay, and then move on to a update page. After this, if I click on Word, the process repeats itself.
As I said, I don't have the disk to reinstall, and can't find the Office Settings to delete as many pages have suggested I should try. Safe Boot restarting also hasn't worked... Really stuck and need Word very soon for work.
If you can help, that would be great, and feel free to ask any questions about the situation as I'm not an expert here.

First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop). Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts. Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards). You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.

How can I free up space on my iphone (by posibbly deleting some music) without connecting to my mac itunes? I'm travelling abroad for some time so can't access my itunes account on my mac at home and the iphone is full. I thought I'd left enought room for plenty of new apps, but alas no. So I need more room for more apps. We have my partners PC laptop with her itunes loaded if thats any use. I've deleted and backed up all my iphone photos already. Thanks.

The process is just like deleting an unwanted email in your inbox. Simply find the track(s) you don’t want on your iOS 5 device anymore, slide your finger over the track listing to the left or the right to reveal a hidden “delete” button, and then select “delete” and the track is gone. Unfortunately there’s no mass delete option, so those Backstreet Boys songs are gonna have to be deleted one at a time.

Unless you are attempting to download a sizable file, 2.7 GB should be more than enough to continue fucntioning. Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.

I can't free up space on my time capsule.

I called Apple and they suggested I delete some back-ups that I don't need to free up space on my time capsule, to make it work better. (Info says I have 17.5GB free out of 998GB). So, I went into my time capsule via finder, and just deleted about 10 backups. The deleted back-ups no longer show in time machine, but the free space on the time capsule didn't change. How can I free up space?

Have you tried dragging and dropping the iTunes file onto the Time Capsule, opening iTunes, trying to play a song, and when it pops up and says "We were unable to locate the file, would you like to locate it?", clicking locate, then going into the folder on the Time Capsule and selecting the file? That will make it reassociate everything that was "lost" when the folder moved, and I'd think it'd change the location of downloads as well.

To add to Niel's comment bear in mind that if you have a backup copy on an external HD and later delete the orignals on your Mac HD you will then only have one copy - so no backup.
If the pictures are precious you should have at least two copies, and ideally another copy kept off site,

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space. Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning your files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

If your account is disabled you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iPhone and iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Storeand then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it.
For your security questions, if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
