Please help! I can't get my iPod to sync with iTunes on my PC?

This problem is really frustrating and I would really appreciate some guidance because I'm completely stuck. I have been trying for many hours over the past few days to get my iPod touch to sync with iTunes on my PC. When I plug my iPod touch into my PC, iTunes opens up and this message pops up:
"This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again."
I have completely removed iTunes from my PC several times and reinstalled it several times but this message continues to pop up and its really annoying because I can't put my music onto my iPod. I have followed instructions on the apple website which were to temove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel and then restart the PC and reinstall iTunes again. I've tried this several times and it simply didn't work and the error message continues to pop up when I plug my iPod into my PC. I really need to know what is the software required so that I can use my iPod with iTunes on my PC. I can't explain how much I'd appreciate help with this. Thanks in advance.
Do I need to install software on my iPod or on my PC? :S

Two ideas, but what version of Windows? what versions of iTunes? did you manually remove what the uninstaller left behind as outlined in Apple support article?
Did you upgrade to iOS 5 or not? what version? what about your iPod Touch model?
Backup its backup. Backup content.
USB is directly connected to a motherboard port?
Have you had to restore the iPod?
Also, many have pointed finger at Apple Mobile Service needing to be restarted first, then launch iTunes and then connect iPod.
Create a new Windows partition and use that to do a clean install and for testing. Always works.
Some security software. Microsoft Security Essentials does an excellent job, free, works.
I have not read or seen "the req'd software is not installed" mentioned by others, but could easily miss (new to iPod + iTunes myself and there were so many threads when iOS 5 came out).

  • How can I get my ipod to work with itunes?

When I connect my ipod classic into my new computer it seems that itunes does not recognize it. How can I get my ipod to work with itunes? I'm afraid to disconnect my ipod because the display is saying Do Not Disconnect.

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

I just tried to sync my iPod and got the message that I have to update iTunes, but my Mac is running OS X 10.5.8. I wouldn't have updated the OS on my iPod if I had known this would be a problem. Any suggestions on how I can get my devices to sync again without updating my Mac OS?

  • I can't get my ipod to sync with new laptop. I have tried to erase and sync, I have authorized new laptop, and still can't get new songs on ipod. Help

I had to purchase a new laptop, since my old one crased. I downloaded iTunes, and my library came up. I followed the directions given, synced ipod, authorized computer and was given a pop up that stated 25 of my songs could not be transferred.Go to Store, authorize computer and resync. Which I did. When I authorize computer another pop up appears and it states this computer is already authorized. I am getting really frustrated. I have gone to the Apple store several times, had to make appointments as they were to busy to help me then. I show up for appointments to either be told, no appointment appears in their schedule, or they are running over an hour late. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks

Why can't the songs be transferred to the device?  Is it because they are not authorized?  Were these 25 tracks purchased/downloaded with the same account you have used to authorize the PC/new iTunes library?

  • Can't get my iPod to work with iTunes

I have an iPod Touch 2 generation, and had to recently restore it, after it had done that I turned it on after it had been reset and it has the picture saying connect to iTunes, when I click to go onto it in iTunes it keeps saying Accessing iTunes store at the top, but does that for ages. Then I get the message after about 2 or 3 minutes saying Network session has times out. I've tried the obvious; rebooting, changing leads and ports and my network connection is fine. But still no luck
Any tops would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, Harry

  • I can't get my iphone4 to sync with itunes on Windows XP. Can anyone help me?

Is it not possible to do this on Windows XP?
I turned off my antivirus, and firewall.
I've tried authorizing my computer, but it just sits there and and tried to connect to itunes for hours and nothing happens.
    It won't enable home sharing.
It won't sync my phone saying "there is a problem syncing" this iphone.  (I read somewhere to make sure you had "sync phone turned on" but I've been unable to find that on my phone in itunes or under settings, or on itunes on my iphone.
I'm a novice to this, I'll admit, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I plug in the phone.  I tunes comes up automatically and starts running all by itself.  Step 1, step 2.  Then it wants to authorize my computer, and it won't go any further.
If I don't plug in the phone, turn it on, it doesn't work.  If I don't plug in the phone, THEN plug it in and try it, it doesn't work.  What am I doing wrong?
    Can anyone help me?

The iphone will sync itunes content and pics with one computer at a time.
Sycning to another will erase the current content from the iphone.
Copy everything (contacts/calendars/pics/files/docs/itunes content/etc) from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
