I never got a chance to back up my phone and i plugged it into my computer which instead of charging it reset it to factory. PLease someone help me get them back. I need the pictures of her from the hospital I am heartbroken and freaking out!
I am so sorry for you and your situation. Were you using iCloud photostream?
Otherwise I do not see any chance for your precious photos.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off. -

Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

Well, I will explain. I got a new iPhone 5C last week, and since then I have not had time to plug it into iTunes on my computer as I was checking out all the new stuff (as it is my first iPhone). I also have an iPod touch 4th gen, which I was using before on which I had purchased lots of music and apps on. I was browsing my iTunes account today to find that a Katy Perry album I had bought was not appearing as "purchased" and available to download, it was instead coming up with the price of £7.99. Since I only have less than that on my account and have not credit card connected to my account, I thought I could at least try to see what would happen if I tapped to purchase it, knowing it couldn't charge me. Instead, I got a message saying that it had already been purchased or something like that. This got me quite confused, as I was sill not able to download it.
Knowing this, I was sure that the songs were on my account, so I got iTunes downloaded on laptop (latest version) in order to get them onto my iPhone. I plugged in my iPhone 5C, it was charging, but iTunes did not automatically open like it did before with my iPod Touch 4g. I then opened iTunes by clicking on the icon. iTunes opened but my phone wasn't showing up as a device. I have not synced my iPhone for some months. When I plugged it into my computer the iTunes program does not launch. There is an iTunes icon installed but this only opens as a Music/video program. There is no side panel where I select my device, account, apps, etc. I have tried re-installing iTunes but there is no difference. AutoPlay opens when I plug in the iPhone offering file, picture etc sharing but nothing elso opens.

My computer crashed. How do I get the songs off my iPod and onto my iTunes?
I have a second generation iPod Touch. It's an 8GB. I had basically filled it to capacity with music with a few apps and videos on there. Then, my computer crashed. So, after downloading the latest version of iTunes i tried to sync up my iPod and get the music back. Instead it asks me to "Erase & sync" or "Transfer purchases". My iTunes is fresh and has no music on it, so I am not going to erase and sync it. And most of my music was not purchased from the iTunes Store, so I am not going to transfer the purchases because it would have a fraction of my music on the iPod. My iPod hasn't been synced up in days because i will lose all or most of my music, but I do have all my music on it. I was just wondering if there was any way to import ALL the songs off my iPod and put them on my computer as well as iTunes!
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.

Basically headline says it all, my phone is in recovery mode following a failed update through the phone and I want all my photos back. I have already read the "iOS: Unable to Update or Restore" and it indicates that when restoring through iTunes, you lose all data on the phone. I have checked my iCloud (I am a Windows7 user so uploading does not happen automatically, as I unfortunately just figured out) and it only will upload my past 30 days of photos and contacts, inline with what I've read about the cloud only storing 30 days of your past data. I really would like to get all of my photos off of my phone, I had photostream activated and most were in that stream. Is there anything I can do? I don't know what operating system is on there currently, but I have always updated my phone succesfully until today when this happened, so I'm assuming whatever is most up to date until today is the OS it has. When your phone is in recovery mode, it's like it crashed. The only way that you can get it out of recovery mode is by restoring, and this erases all your data as well.
You can believe what you wish by "reading all over the internet". This is Apple's technical support forum. We do know what we're talking about.
since you have very important photos on your phone, why haven't you been importing them to your computer as soon as possible after taking them? This is how the phone is meant to be used. Keeping critical data on only a device which can be easily stolen, dropped and broken is just plain foolish. Also, did you not back up your phone (as you should be doing with any computer) before attempting any operating system update? As you've now just painfully learned, updates do not always go as planned.
I'm sorry for your data loss, but let this be a very important lesson. BTW, when was the last time you backed up your computer? I'm sure you have important data on your computer. Hard drives WILL fail. -
I just got my MBP, it is a new one. and just found out that my mac has a password. when i tried to instal a new app, it asked me to enter the password.
what should i do? any helpBut if you bought a new Mac, did someone already run the initial setup procedure for you? Ordinarily, with a brand new, out of the box Apple computer, at first boot you would have been taken through a series of setup screens, one of which would have had you create an admin account with an admin password.
If somebody else already did that when you picked it up, then you should call the store and ask them for the password as they must have set it. Then, immediately change it to something you make up.
If you did not have the store set it up, then I'd suspect you did not actually get a brand new Mac? -
New Computer...how do I get the stuff off my iPod?
Is it safe to just plug in my iPod (which has all my songs on) into my new computer which has a blank iTunes. It won't wipe my iPod by automatically syncing it? Some advice would be very much appreciated!
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists. -

At the present time, purchased ringtones cannot be redownloaded. You would need to import them to your iTunes library on a computer and sync them to your other devices. You can try contacting iTunes store support and see if they will grant you an exception to this: https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

This morning FF would no start-up. Down loaded new version from website and replaced old version. New version will not strat-up as it says "incompatible" with Op Sys.
