hi
the other night whilst listening to a podcast my touch just switched off. when i turned it back on all my songs podcasts and videos were missing. i went plugged my touch into the computer and again there were no songs present within my touch. however the itunes software said 11.53GB had been taken up by "other" and were only 3GB free, it also said this on ipod. i tries resetting from ipod but with no success, i then tried to restore on the computer but after downloadinbg the software the computer said there was a firmware error with my ipod. my ipod is on firmware 1.1.1
any help would be appreciated
thanks
daveHi addvi,
The "Other" category, normally should represent the Upgrades and firmwares you've installed, notes, calender informations...
However, sometimes your iPod's memory can become corrupted, probably as the result of an interrupted sync.
The unique way to get around this is to Restore the iPod Touch. Sorry for any inconvenient, this may cause you!
Once, you can't restore the iPod, try doing it on another computer.
Hope this helps!

Please help - iPod touch 4g recovery mode loop
Today I decided I'd update my iPod, however once done I got the message 'iTunes has detected iPod in recovery mode, you must restore this iPod before you can connect it with iTunes'. However when I do restore it it also wants me to 'restore and update' and after downloading the update for 15 minutes nothing happens. Everything still stays the same and when I replug my iPod it just wants me to download the update all over again.
This is driving me mad helpLook, calm down, I have been through a boot loop also because I was tampering with something I shouldn't have been while in SFTP... Haha.... All you have to do is put it in DFU mode to restore. First connect it to the PC, open iTunes, then you hold down the sleep button, count to 3, WITHOUT RELEASING THE SLEEP BUTTON, you hold down the Home button and count to 10, then take your finger off of the sleep button and keep holding the home button, then your PC should start downloading the apple recover drivers and iTunes will give you a message prompting you that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode, press restore, and voilla!! DFU fixes just about any problem besides outright smashing your device with a hammer. As an important note, make sure your iTunes is at the current version, as I ran into an error (21) countless times because of an older version.

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

IPod touchMy iPod touch is lock and my brother was trying too use it and he entered the wrong code too many times
Ok
I may be able to help you .
If you backed up your iPod prior to it being locked you may be in luck.
1. Hook it up to your Mac or PC
2.Open iTunes
3.Click on your iPod (on the left hand side somewhere)
4.Click on restore (in the centre somewhere)
5.follow the onscreen instructions
Once you have restored the device there should be an option that says restore from back up.
Click on that.
Hopefully this works. If it doesn't please let me no. -

Try the remaining items of:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
