All I want is to copy my pics to another disk without MAC OS change the date on wich I shot them. Pics, sent to me by e-mail also loose there original date. I understand the difference between making a new file by copying, but I don't understand why it change when I remove them.

There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif. You need to use an app that understands Exif.

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:

You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Is there an easy way to remove entries from my site?

I am running out of iDick space. I don't want/need to purchase more. I would like to remove some older entries from my site. Is there an easier way than cut and pasting? I want to save then on my computer, for posterity?

Wow, you must have a very extensive site to be running out of iDisk space! First of all, are you sure you haven't got some unutilized iDisk space sitting around....maybe reserved for email or something? You can change the allocation between iDisk space and Email storage in your .Mac account settings page. Let me know if you need help on doing this...
If you really are running out of space, I can't think of a good way for you to back up a portion of your site locally and only publish the recent entries to your iDisk. As you already know, iWeb loves to publish it all...all the time! Maybe it's time to bit the bullet and just start a new site for your new entries going forward. Before you start the new site, you can backup a read only version of your website to a CD or something by using "Publish to Folder". Then once you are sure you have the working website locally, you can delete the site from iWeb once and for all and then start your new site.
I know it's probably not ideal, but it's a suggestion. You can always "Publish to Folder" and save the resulting folder as a fully functional website to a CD. Keep in mind that if you use any .Mac-only features (like counters, comments, search, slideshows, etc) these features will not be functional on a "Publish to Folder" site.

Is there an easy way to remove photos from iPhoto in the organizer?

I had been using iPhoto, but quit when I started using Photoshop Elements. With version 9, it imported not only photos in my pictures but those in iPhoto. So I have hundreds of duplicates I need to remove from the organizer. Is there an easy way to find the ones from iPhoto so I can remove them?

OK, but is there a way to search/filter on a string in the location (i.e. iPhoto) so I could then easily know which are the duplicates I want to delete?
If there isn't, then it seems that I will have to delete the catalog and start from scratch again. I had originally thought I didn't include iPhoto in the folders to search, but apparently it was somehow included so I will have to be more granular in what folders to search if I recreate the catalog again.

Ok, your slideshow, photo album template in iphoto is THE BOMB.. so cool!
But, someone thought, hey lets put one that cuts all the photos up and almost surely cuts the important part of whatever the original photo was.. grr?
It wouldn't be so bad, if we could go back through the presentation and mix and match to make that slide work, but inevitably, it cuts out someone's head?
Please tell me there is a work around, or way to tell it not to use that slide option? I'd rather have more photo on photos or multi photo frames than anything auto cutting pictures.

Many of the themes are not designed for portrait oriented photos. That's what you're running into with the scrapbook theme. Not much you can do about it.
There's a 3rd party slideshow application, PhotoPresenter, that has over 25 animated themes. There are several that are sort of like the scrapbook that do handle the portrait as they should be handled. Some of the available themes are shown in this demo page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes. Look at Portfolio, Frame and Album. It integrates seamlessly with iPhoto. and iTunes You can download and run it in demo mode.
The early fading of music in a slideshow is a well documented problem. Just send your complaint/bug report to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more reports the better.

Is there an easy way to remove duplicates in my Mac OS X Mail mailboxes?

Having imported some mailboxes from other applications I find that there are many duplicate messages in Mail mailboxes. I know this comes about from my lack of care in importing. I'd like to eliminate the duplicates, but obviously doing so one by one would be quite a task. I have little expectation that there's an easy way to do this, but I can always hope. Is there a way? Mail Scripts was a good suggestion but I doesn't work. Well what do you expect with freeware. I ran the duplicate catcher script several times, once on a rather large mailbox which I know contains hundreds of duplicates and it found 1 (one). As suggested I checked "Take all accounts offline" before I ran the script. Does anyone know a different program that can eliminate those duplicates? I'd really appreciate one that works.

Was wondering if there is an easy way to switch between ethernet and wifi connection on Apple TV without having to disconnect the ethernet cable. The reason I ask is that I find it quicker to use my ethernet connection via a Netgear Powerline Home Theatre Set-up to stream Trailers and Movies on the Apple TV, however this is no good when connecting directly to my Mac to stream music or TV shows in iTunes, so revert to the wifi connection that I created on my Time Capsule to do this.
Would be handy if Apple TV had a menu option where you could manually change the connection type depending on what you were doing, as per above scenario.

I relocated a lot of my music on my computer to a single folder so there would be less clutter. So far as I know there is no easy way to relocate all of my music without going through each song one by one, and I have a rediculous amount of music so this was simply not an option. Instead I dragged everything back into itunes from that folder. Now I have a large number of 'ghost' files in my itunes and I was wondering if there is a fast way to get rid of them all without selecting and deleting them all individually?

I actually have scripts for reconneting moved media, and I could have shown you how to move the library without breaking the links. Normally moving the entire iTunes folder and then shift-starting-iTunes does the trick. Sometimes it is possible to put a broken library back together again.
I'm working on a rebuild of my DeDuper script which will merge stats from missing files before deleting. It's been on the back burner for a while but the lack of show duplicates feature in iTunes 11 has prompted to have another look at the issue so with luck I'll get it done in the next few days. That would be one way to tidy up.
If you just want to remove all the dead tracks right now you can download and install iTunes Folder Watch. Point it at your iTunes Media folder, connect it to your .xml file and enable the option to Check for dead tracks on startup.

Is there an easier way to open photo files that were stored in my backup as Document Files besides changing the extension on each of the photos?

I did a backup on my mac of my phone. Then I got a new phone. I don't want to put all of my old photos on the new phone. So, I went to the backup to access the photos so that I could work with them in jpeg form on my computer. I have done this in the past with no problem. This time, when I go to access the photos they are all document files. I need them to be jpeg files. Is there a way to open then as jpegs without opening each individual file and updating the file extension? Also, why did this happen? I recall doing this with my prior iphone and the photos were jpegs and I didn't have to do anything.

This is a really good question about one of the bigger challenges of building a 3D project. When you add objects to the Canvas (including drawing), they get added in the camera's viewspace, facing the camera and sharing the same up-vector (i.e. positive Y is up). This is all well and good, but what about doing what you ask, where you want to add an object in the localspace of another object? Let's look at your example: adding a shape that is coplanar to a photo, with the camera not necessarily aligned with the photo.
As Mark suggested, you can draw the shape in the camera's viewspace and then drag-and-drop the Position and Rotation channels from the photo onto the shape. This will replace the shape's Position and Rotation values with that of the photo, making them coplanar and located in the same place. The shortcoming of this method is that you draw the shape at a size that seems correct in the Canvas, but once it's moved to the same place as the photo, it will often turn out to be too small or large. Then you have to make further tweaks.
Another solution is to use the Isolate command. Isolate temporarily aligns the current view to the selected object and solos that object. So you could isolate the photo and then draw the shape in the Canvas and it will be coplanar with the photo. The only caveat is that the moment you finish drawing the shape, it will disappear. This is because the photo is still isolated (and soloed). As soon as you de-isolate the photo, everything will reappear.
The easiest way to use Isolate for new photos—not ones already in the project—is to place the photo in a 3D group, position the group where you want the photo and shape to be, then isolate the group and add anything you want to it (shapes, image, text, etc).

Is there an easy way to remove audio track from .mp4

Wondered if anybody knows of a way to take a .mp4 file with a silent audio track exported and remove that audio track altogether without having to reconvert the video in AME- just deleting the (silent) audio track
Have lots of files that need this and was looking for a way to do this without going back and reexporting all the clips the hard way
Any thoughts much appreciated-- (I have access to both Windows 7 and WIndows XP pro 64 bit)

I figured that would work but for some reason the resulting files did not play correctly--Alternatively I used Mpegstreamclip -opened the video I wanted to erase audio track from--- clicked on "edit--delete audio track" then clicked "save as" and this finally accomplished what I was trying to do--Now have a copy of the .mp4 file wo audio

Is there an easy way to remove Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and revert to 10.6.5

I upgraded to 10.6.8 and since then, my apps crash regularly. It can take 2 or 3 re-starts to get Mail functioning properly, the iCal events widget on Dashboard has never worked and others such as Aperture and Safari just crash for no reason. I haven't seen much improvement with 10.6.8 so no loss.

I'm afraid the only way to revert to an earlier iteration of SL is to completely erase the HD and re-install from your original grey discs and/or retail SL DVD. Then find the combo installer for the version you want to stop at.
10.6.5 is here.
You'll need to backup your data to an external drive first, then use Setup Assistant to re-import data, apps and prefs.

The Voice recording app, is there an easy way to transfer the file to Itunes?

I have a very long file that was recorded in the Voice Recording App on my Iphone, and I am trying to upload it to my Itunes. How is this accomplished? Has anyone done this before?

Select Music at the top of the screen (between Apps and Movies),
select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,” and click Apply.
Voice memos synced from iPhone to your computer appear in the Music list and in the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes.
Memos synced from your computer appear in the Voice Memos app on iPhone, but not in the Music app.

Is there an easier way to clear out files (send to trash) from the downloads folder, other than dragging one by one? The downloads folder closes immediately upon dragging one file out.

You do not need to invoke Finder to do this. Create a new empty Automator workflow and use the "Run Shell Script" option. Paste in the following....
mv ~/Downloads/* ~/.Trash
You can then save the workflow as an application, attach it as a Finder action or add it to the scripts menu, whichever you like better.
If you would like to bypass the Trash and just completely delete the Downloads folder contents immediately, then paste in this command:
rm -rf ~/Downloads/*
